Villa Rocca nel Circeo, the Greco-Roman-style folly designed for Countess Nathalie Volpi at Sabaudia on the Tyrrhenian Sea by architect Tomaso Buzzi in 1955. Despite its mid-century provenance, peering beyond the loggia’s Ionic columns stirs the imagination .... Was Odysseus just ensnared by Circe in the nearby grotto? * Photo by Robert Emmett Bright for @archdigest * #nathalievolpi #countessnathalievolpidimisurata #villarocca #villaroccanelcirceo #sabaudia #tomasobuzzi #italianarchitect #grecoromanstyle #palladianstyle #classicalrevival #loggia #mythology #tyrrheniansea #italianvilla #spareelegance https://www.instagram.com/p/BzYnuHGCi-P/?igshid=14e8sa1urhuna

The villa is in the palladian style and similar in design to its near-contemporary in the United States, the White House. The house was designed by Lieutenant Samuel Russell of the Madras Engineers and construction began in 1803. Kirkpatrick built the mansion for himself and his Indian wife Khair un Nissa, who bore him two surviving children who were sent to England by the age of five and never saw them again due to the early deaths of their parents. This incredible stairway still gleams of the time gone by. #Heritage #Historic #Architecture #Interior #Stairway #Beaut #Beautiful #DesignAesthetic #PalladianStyle #BritishResidency #Koti #Hyderabad #HyderabadDiaries #HyderabadJournal #Telangana #India #Wanderer #Wanderlust #Travel #Travelogue #TravelDiaries (at British Residency Hyderabad)

Finally got this decorative sundial installed at Moor Park Mansion in Rickmansworth yesterday. The Manor was built in 1720 in the Palladian style by architect Giacamo Leoni and the painter Sir James Thornhill. I sculpted the sundial panel's and sun face in clay and the pupils of Bishop Ramsey School built onto it and decorated the surface with beautiful glazes. We did a great job I think. #davidfieldsculpture #sundial #moorparkmansion #rickmansworth #decorative #ceramics #sculpture #publicart #palladianstyle https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo6u8hMgNf6/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=yjrdll7znzzj

The foyer in an 18th-century Palladian-style villa in the south of France known as Château de Clavary introduces two quite exceptional features that bring this space to life: a pair of plaster and marble consoles by Emilio Terry, who once worked at de Clavary, and the room’s dominant feature, a mosaic stone floor designed by Pablo Picasso in 1927. Here is a room that marries two ideals in perfect unison and harmony: classicism and modernism. It’s a case of “opposites attract”, where tension is created between seemingly disparate styles, where balance is achieved commingling the raw and the refined. * The first image was photographed by Carrie Donovan in 1981 for Living Well; the second image originates from a House Beautiful feature published in 1975 via @jenniferboles; the third is a movie still from the documentary “Picasso – Magic, Sex and Death” by John Richardson, Picasso’s authoritative biographer. * #châteaudeclavary #auribeausursiagne #peterwilson #sothebyparkbernet #picasso #iconicartist #mosaic #cubism #emilioterry #rockconsole #classicism #modernism #1920sdesign #palladianstyle #palladianstylevilla #cotedazure #southoffrance #frenchriviera #classicism #classicalrevival #romanticrevival #scaleandproportion #harmony #classicmodern #elegant #sober #restrained #russellgreely #françoisdegouydarcy #johnrichardson #picassobiographer https://www.instagram.com/c_w_interiors/p/BubNqv1lnyh/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=54a9kk4aj13t
