Shepp: Halan doesn't like to talk about his ceremony anymore.

Halan grew up in the humble village of Elya, and had always had a knack for athletics and entertaining others. As a child, he would always participate in local roundball tournaments. He gained a small reputation for his enthusiasm and the ways he'd hilariously interact with the crowd following a goal or a foul from the opposing team. One fateful day when he was 18, a talent scout from Bahari City watched a scrimmage that Halan played in, and was astonished by how advanced he played at such a young age. Following a brief interview, Halan was met with contract that stated that should he leave his home village for Bahari to complete professional coaching, he would be signed to the Bahari Phoenixes automatically. Encouraged by his father to chase his dreams, Halan accepted the contact and had to leave his gentle rural life behind.

As his career began, the public quickly took a liking to him for his humble beginnings mixed with his adorable personality and visage. Halan was the new kid on the block, and his cheesy displays of excitement and his expert plays soon let him solidify his name in the public' eye. For better or for worse. Later in his blossoming career, he met a Majiri woman named Narya, and the two began a romantic relationship. Although they seemed to be a wholesome couple, they eventually split, and Narya was so angry following their break up that she spread cruel rumors to the news about Halan and how he was during their relationship. This bruised Halan's reputation for months, and he swore never to date publicly again, and to use extreme caution with trusting people in his life. Since then, he hasn't been able to really connect with anyone near him except for his coach and his teammates, who are essentially like his family.

After his scandal with Narya, Halan additionally picked up a habit of venturing to low-key towns and village, just to befriend locals without paparazzi and dozens of screaming fans chasing him. Just to get a feel of normalcy in his life. His adventures fatefully led him to Kilima Village, where he began to actually make the genuine friendships and connections he'd always wanted. He grew close to Nai'o, who swore Halan looked familiar and kept squinting at him for several days until he finally introduced himself. Although Halan was originally nervous to meet someone who actually knew who he was in a small village, Nai'o quickly proved himself to be a dependable confidant. Their chemistry made it easy for Halan to fit in somewhere in the village, where he ultimately decided to stay until his new season of roundball rolled around. He grew close to Hassian, Jel and Tish, Sifuu, and Eshe as well, and often seeks them for guidance and advice on how to be useful to the community during his stay.

Trivia:

- Halan LOVES fancy alcoholic drinks (not mead or ale, it sucks and tastes terrible); his favorite drink is strawberry daiquiri, which Reth can never seem to make right for him

- Halan finds humans shifty after learning about their destructive past civilization, and distrusts them even more than his own folk

- Halan might present to be a dumb jock when one first meets him, but he's much more philosophical and intelligent than he lets on

Hi everyone! I'm new to the Tumblr community :) I've been inspired by all of your incredible Palia fanart and fanfics on here, that it gave me the courage to cross-post my own WIP Reth/OC fanfic. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, so I want to warn that my fic takes place in an AU of Palia where my character remembers her past! Here's my fic's summary:

On the day of her arranged marriage engagement celebration, Anjali is suddenly thrown into the world of Palia. Unlike the other humans who arrived, all of her memories are still intact and she finds herself struggling to find her way back home. But as she begins to adjust and learn the ways of Majiri society, she begins to question everything…especially when she discovers flow and its magical capabilities that awaken something ancient and unknown within her.

3. As a human, what has their experience been acclimating to the culture in Kilima Valley? Did they get comfortable quickly, or did it take time to adjust to?

It has been very peaceful for Eureka. She’s quite the optimist, and was looking forward to the new environment around her so she got comfortable very quickly. She did take some time spending hours in the library reading upon everything about the Majiri and how things have changed since her time.

13. Did your character learn to cook from Reth? What do they think of his lettuce soup? What's their favorite thing to cook?

For the most part, Eureka already knew how to cook but she has learned a few good recipes from Reth. Soup is great and all, but Eureka has a major fondness for chili oil dumplings and rice cake stir fry. She likes her spicy food. And as for dessert, blueberry pie!

23. Use of Flow is forbidden to Majiri outside of the Order—what is your character’s relationship to Flow? Because of being a human, how do you relate to it in a way that your neighbors might not?

There is this strong connection Eureka has with Flow. She cannot explain how, but there’s this weird yet warm feeling whenever she gets near it. She compares the feeling to drinking hot tea on a cold day and she can feel the warmth spread throughout her entire body despite the cool air embracing her.

After completing the puzzles in the temple she would get sudden flashbacks to her time back in human civilization. The scenes are all random though so she cannot piece them together coherently if she tried as there are still major pieces missing. When she tried desperately thinking hard on it after finishing the temple of flame’s puzzle, she ended up suffering from a splitting headache and collapsed. Hassian and Sifuu had to bring her back home.

30. Speaking of Caleri, have you heard that she doesn’t know about the cryptids of the Valley, or rather denies them! How silly—you and I both know about the stars right… What’s your character’s take on Elouisa and her theories? How comfortable is your character with Elouisa?

Although Eureka doesn’t exactly believe in most of them, she does like having discussions with Elouisa. She enjoys Elouisa’s approach on things that have a more logical meaning over her theories. It’s a different point of view, and Eureka’s an artist, she appreciates engaging with different perspectives on things. The only thing Eureka wasn’t too happy about was Elouisa getting Eureka in on a pyramid scheme and spending so much of her gold on it.

33. Delaila is a prize-winning jam maker! What does your character think about the Daiya matron? Are they close to her? Does she make them miss their own mother/guardian/parents, or do they even remember them?

Eureka absolutely adores Delaila! She just loves the woman’s loving personality. Eureka usually goes over to the farm and both ladies enjoy their long conversations over tea. Sometimes Eureka would help Delaila out with her tasks around the house and wouldn’t mind offering any support in making her jams. As for her own family, Eureka cannot say she misses them as she can’t even remember their names or faces. Many of her memories are hazy bits and pieces of what her life was like back in human civilization. But she tries not to dwell too much on her past as she continues making a new life for herself in Kilima. Delaila is great friend of Eureka and she is one of the few people she goes to for some advice or comfort.

-That one long table in the inn? That’s for the (M/D)ILFs (including our M/Dilf OCs) they all hang out on the weekend around 8pm for a drink and to catch up

-Elouisa would love Mambo No.5 and Cha Cha Slide. The humans happily teach it to her. Flash Mob!!

-Badruu wears makeup on occasions and his wife loves helping him experiment with it

-Badruu and Delaila probably got drunk one day when they were younger and danced on the Inn Long Table. They do it again as they are now and drag Hodari into it

-Reth would say out of context shit all the time. Just look at Drawfee Quote Bot // Sometimes he’ll find himself repeating weird human slang

-“Subira! We can’t gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss our way out of this!” “Manipulation, Mansplaining, and manslaughter it is-“

-I wanna know how the fuck a human got on Eshe’s goddamn roof. Let me fucking up there

-All Majiri have fangs, some are just visibly sharper

-Some Majiri have moving ears. It seems mostly to be the hunters who have it. Hodari and his daughter Najuma have them too

-Following the above headcanon, hunters and miners tend to have far more sensitive hearing that had been selectively bred/picked since Majiri follow the Path and don’t seem to stray all that much

But hold your Riffrocs, cuz I also named him “Ashaya” which is one letter off from Ashayam which is a Star Trek Vulcan term of endearment and I named Sweeney Todd “Dulce”

What are your Palia headcanons?

I'll go first!

Communicating across a server is just the equivalent of yelling as loud as you can. The villagers absolutely know we say disco deer. They still don't know what it means, though ("wtf is disco? what is a deer???")

They're also probably aware of PCs making references to regular Human stuff that they just don't have any concept of and they think we are very strange for this.

Hassian would listen to Sleep Token and he would love it. (Shoutout to the Tumblr user who's with me on this.)

If Jel was an actual person, he'd be the guy who's so cheerful with the general public, then he gets off work and goes to sit in his car and scream with heavy metal blasting.

Reth would give you stick and pokes if you asked, but you gotta give him one too.

The villagers are unaware we can track them on our maps and are a little freaked out how the Humans can always run right to them, no matter where they are and no matter what time of day or night.

Majiri straight up just don't need to sleep more than a couple hours and that's why their schedules are batshit fucking insane compared to Humans. Some of them do think we're lazy for how long we sleep lol

Jel has ADHD. Hassian and Reth are autistic. Sifuu also gets to be autistic because I like her. You'd think my reasonings here would mean Jina is also autistic, but actually, grad students are just like that.

The reason Einar seems to display less (negative) emotions than Hekla is because he actually just hasn't gone through anything that's made him feel that way before. Man has just always been Fine And Good.

Jel (I think about him a lot) has had relationships before the PC. You're not his first, but you are his best/favorite.
