How (some) of the Champions React to Spiders

a fic inspired by @paladinsheadcanons​ post. Enjoy lol

They are paladins, champions of the realm, fearsome warriors in their own unique and special way, who have faced trials and come out victorious.

They (being Fernando, Skye, and Lian) are currently trying to press behind Bolt, eyes on the spider scuttling across the floor. Admist all the screaming, Ruckus manages to splutter out, "Find your own mech to climb on!"

He is answered by renewed yelps when the creepy-crawlie comes a little closer to the commotion.

"Fernando! You're a knight, do something!" Lian commands. He only eyes the arachnid, firmly shaking his head.

"You're wearing armour, you idiot!" Skye hisses. "Just step on it!"

Meanwhile, Bolt let out a sigh of static as he cursed his current, metallic form (but then again, it did make him a lot less squeamish towards this whole spider thing, so lucky stars?).

Zhin happened to be walking nearby when he came across the scene of three fully grown adults trying to scramble away from a spider. All he said was a thoughtful "Hm." then proceeded to light it on fire with a flick of his sword.

The screaming died down, only to be replaced by incredulous stares.

“Don’t you think that was a bit...overkill, Zhin?” Skye asked, still looking at the smouldering remains.

He replied, “I got rid of the spider. You welps should be thanking me." and gave a dismissive wave of his hand.

Things I got from Paladins Lore (OB64)

1. Evie now is even more interesting.

2. Skye was once a noble? That was unexpected.

3. IMO, Skye is a psycho for addicting to killing.

4. Viktor is actually a likable guy. (Go read the lore.)

5. Factions and units has revealed in the lore:

    - The Magistrate, the bad guy? They fight to gain the reign of the Crosswind hold (or somewhere I dunno. I don’t remember the lore mentioned that.) Their leader name is Khan. The known members are Viktor(The former commander of the Sentinels, now is lower rank), Strix(Once was a Sentinel, still work with The Magistrate if remember correctly.), Vivian, Ash(The war machine), Fernando and Lian(responded to their call/recruit ) , and Torvald(a researcher) maybe more that I can’t recall :/ Barik and Tyra once had worked for them.

    - The Resistance, the good guy? They oppose the Magistrate for the freedom of using magic. Their known members are most of the champions in the game.

    - The Outer Tribunal, basically Judge Dredd polices, known members are Lex and (former) Androxus, known to be  merciless, oathbound judges, and dedicated.

    - The unaligned, mostly bounty hunters and rouges such as Kinessa, Makoa, Maeve and Drogoz.

    - The Guild of thousand hands, founded and led by Zhin, kinda mafia godfather. Sha Lin used to be with them.

6. Lots of locations has revealed too such as Deepwerk, the place where engineers and clever people are at. Torvald and Barik were there.

7. Talus is very, very, very, really, a good boy.

8. Talus is basically a shonen anime protagonist.

9. Androxus and Lex were bros. (I suspected that long time ago.)

10. Androxus became a badass and left Lex.

11. Lex wants to hunt down Androxus.

12. That was actually tragic.

13. I ship that.

14. I don’t know how should I  feel about Buck’s and Ying’s lore. They’re confusing.

15. Nando was a squire.

16. Nando wasn’t a D after all.

17. Grohk’s lore makes him looks a lot more badass. (He never was btw)

18. Maeve is a half-tigron. That’s why she have feline features.

19. Her long coat was stolen form Magistrate’s fortress keep. It was a magic one too!

20. Ska’drin is a race. Talus is one of them. They lived on an island according to Makoa’s lore.

21. Makoa is the protector of Ska’drin.

22. Grover is a tree.

23. Inara is a Stagalla. She was created, not born.

24. Inara is a slow-headed mom. She’s cute.

25. Sha Lin is an another shonen-anime protagonist character.

26. Zhin is a mafia godfather.

27. Zhin is quite a menace.

28. Although, I got a Batman-vibe from his backstory.

29. Terminus is a zombie.

30. No mentioned about his old identity.

31. There was a lot more stone people (Stagalla).

32. Goblin seems to be problematic to all races.

33. Ruckus is one of them.

34. He accidentally built Bolt.

35. Bolt was a normal mining suit until Ruckus put a mind-stone into it.

36. The stone contains the soul of the fallen war golem.

37. Mal’Damba seems a lot more menacing.

38. Kinessa is still my waifu.

39. Hi-rez didn’t ruined her character, phew.

40. Drogoz didn’t have wing.

41. Ash is still a badass. But her backstory didn’t give her much of the character.

42. Pip is said to be unpredictable and dangerous. Although his voicelines didn’t say that way.

43. He’s cute lil’ fox.

44. Seris has taken the name of the city she completely destroyed upon first setting foot in the world of the living. (I copied that from the lore :P)

45. Tyra had signed into Magistrate’s army when she was very young.

Original Roleplays or Paladins Roleplays? I'm here for that!

Hey all! The name's Marcus.

I'm a 22 year old, Freelancing Artist, who has been delving into role-plays for a good 6-7 years. Since I'm an artist, I ALWAYS come up with many ideas and stories, and almost all the time, I end up throwing some sketches to the side for characters. That being said, roleplaying helps me keep making up stories in my head, as well as adjusting my own stories to get rid of inconsistencies and loopholes.

Just to be clear, I live in the ‎(UTC+8) time zone, so if you're from the US, we're almost 12 hours apart, but I've got an irregular sleeping schedule so the chances of you catching me are pretty big. Plus, like I said, I'm a freelancer, so I've got a lot of spare time.

  WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR?

Looking for someone who'd probably be a long time partner, and we do not have to stick to the same stories over and over. I DO have a habit of switching role-plays every now and then, but I keep a screenshot of previous stories in case we go back to them.

I'm looking for someone LITERATE and doesn't write in text speech like "u' instead of you or "ur" instead of your, etc. Also please be of age. Being older than 18+ is a must; I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE PLAYING WITH UNDERAGED ROLEPLAYERS. I do end up writing gory or erotic replies according to whatever situation our characters get themselves in, however, if you request it, we can always fade to black. Please be ready to write a lot, on average, I write 3 paragraphs per reply. Don't be afraid to go all wordy!

  WHAT KIND OF ROLEPLAYS?

I MAINLY do Original role-plays; where we build our world(s) and our own characters and whatnot, but I DO have cravings for a fandom role-plays, MAINLY Paladins Champions of the Realm (Been playing for quite a while!) which I have so many canon ideas and ships as well to them.

Some genres I mainly do are Adventure, Action, Angst, Slight Romance, Apocalypse, War, Space and a plethora of things! DO ask me if I do something that I haven't mentioned, because I AM pretty open minded.

For Original Role-plays, here are a few scenarios

- An Alien Girl crash lands on Earth, and it's up to a young human boy to take care, protect, and disguise the alien, while letting her become one of them in secrecy.

- A royal knight of God's Order is sent to capture a notable demon assassin, but is torn apart when he finds out the truth and that the demon is no more but a scared demon trying to protect herself in a world of civil war. - In a world ravaged by an apocalyptic war, the last of a rebel group and a former member of the global military must work and fight together to survive the onslaught of mercenaries and zombies

  DO'S AND DON'TS

DON'T abandon our role-play without telling me first why! I don't mind if you don't like our RP anymore, but please let me know what's up, if you don't like it, or if you're about to go away on vacation or so. Don't just fade away without letting me know what you're up to!

DO ask me EVERYTHING you want to clarify! There's nothing worse than guessing your way through a storyline. If you need something cleared up, ask away! Ask me what kinks are up and down the pipeline or what kind of other original stories I have.

DON'T God-mod! My character is my character, and your character is your character. Let's not force our characters to do something that we didn't want them to think of in the first place. Keep your hands on your own character!

DO suggest your ideas and own plots to me and we can mix both our plots, or hell, we can just do yours if I really love it! Don't let me be the only one writing, it's not fun.

DON'T jump the gun and dive straight into smut and romance! Sure, those can be nice and juicy, but we need to justify those actions! We can't just have our characters kiss and mingle, we have to let them get close realistically! Hit Me Up!

vivian or ash? for the ask thing

Well, how about both? Magistrate and ex-magistrate duo. I like it. I’m actually doing both, because one might contain an unnecessary dose of salt.

Vivian

Favorite thing about them: Vivian as a champion in-game. Her relatively sloppy design is a big fat favorite of mine. I love it so m u c h!!!! Have you met her friends? It’s like the old bastion mess from overwatch, but now he has wall hacking turrets and a ‘thicc’ body. Speaking of body, I’m not even an art major and know 0 shit about design, but s h i t-

I’m not complaining too much about the current design, but I feel like there could have been slightly more to it. She had such a great concept. Please….

Least favorite thing about them: Vivian as a ‘character’, ie- her current position in the Magistrate and relevance to the lore, somewhat. I like to think of Paladins being divided into different “stories” and occasionally merging in and out. Now that Vivian is related to at least 4 of the major characters, she must have some kind of significance in the realm. Not to mention that her perspective of “knowledge and power” intrigues me.

(Also I really dig her voice. Like, really.)

To be fair, the moment I saw Vivian, I wasn’t too appalled because I’ve been pretty distant from the game- despite cranking out (arguably) “content”. I would have had some kind of fit if I did, just like how I did when Lian was released. Lian’s in a significantly better position where I actually like her now and would like to know where she’s going in the story. Vivian’s still a neutral.

I’m absolutely sorry for the salt, though.

BrOTP: Geez, it’s not been that long since she came out. I can’t catch up that fast. But I’d say Vivian/Skye and Vivian/Ash could be good.

OTP: I have no idea for this.

nOTP: None currently. I don’t even know who she is shipped with in the general community.

Random Headcanon: Sorry friend. I’m braindead with Vivian. If you asked me this a couple of months after, I would have successfully given you headcanon after headcanon.

Unpopular Opinion: Her hairstyle isn’t too bad.

Favorite thing about them: Her personality in general. She’s one of the very few champions that swears in-game and I absolutely dig that.

Least favorite thing about them: I have yet to be accustomed with her kit. This is only a minor detail; pretty much sums how much I love her.

BrOTP: Surprisingly? Ash/Zhin. Also, Ash/Androxus and Ash/Vivian works well.

OTP: I’m a sucker for Ashra (Ash/Tyra), but I have other ships for Ash. Ash/Seris oddly seems to work well in my head. How about Ash benching all the female champions? I’d like that.

nOTP: As discussed in the Fernando post, Ash/Fernando.

Random Headcanon: Ash cherishes her canon with all her life, but she also goes ham with it (ironically?)

Unpopular opinion: Okay. Yes. I will fight Hi-Rez for this. Her body type. Hello people, she carry around a giant cannon in hella bulky armor. And yet she has the ‘lean muscular’ type of upper body. Henlo. I’d like one (1) dose of more beef.

I was expecting a Zarya or a Pharah, not a VI body shape. Then again, it’s fantasy so let her be.

sometimes i think that paladins lacks characters that have crowd control and the champions who have get overvalued which results in nerfs and other characters falling in limbo

Well, I don’t have any opinion about nerfs (I might complain if some nerf concerns the ones I play the most, but eventually I’ll just get used to it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).

As for “Paladins” lacking of characters with CC… Actually I think it’s quite the opposite.

The ones that have that kind of ability, so far are the following (list based on the current one at Gamepedia):

Frontlines:

Ash = Kinetic Burst, Shoulder Bash and Assert Dominance (especially when the right Legendary Card is equipped);

Inara = Warden’s Field and Seismic Crash

Makoa = Shell Spin and Dredge Anchor

Terminus = Shatterfall (according to which Legendary one may use, this ability could either slow the enemies or stun them)

Torvald = Hyper Beam and Nullify (I mentioned this latter, in case silencing and disarming enemies is still considered CC)

Damages:

Bomb King = Grumpy Bomb, Poppy Bomb and King Bomb;

Cassie = Disengage

Drogoz = Fire Spit (when equipped with the default Legendary)

Kinessa = Oppressor Mine;

Sha Lin = Impaler Arrow;

Strix = Flash bang (yes, this is considered CC. If you wish to be affected less than your teammates, you’d better NOT equip “Illuminate”, but go for “Resilience” instead);

Supports:

Grohk: Shock Pulse and Tempest;

Grover = Crippling Throw (the name says all, hands down);

Old Friends

Zhin stared at the top of the building, his eyes locked onto two silhouettes. One was rather short and the other tall; he could make out their horns, but saw a lack of weaponry. The taller one seemed to be carrying something with them, but it was hard to make it out. The Demon Slayer grunted out of discomfort. It was late and he was supposed to be heading to bed when he caught movement out of the corner of his eyes. Not only that, but he refused to leave Jenos by himself for too long. The man released the handle of his sword, turned away from the spying duo, and began walking back to his and Soul Eater’s temporary home.

The two figures remained still until their enemy was out of sight. The shorter of the two let out a feral growl, running his fingers through his hair. “Oh come on!” Removing the mask covering his face, the Oni glared at his companion with a heated expression. “Did you see that!? He completely ignored us! If the Boss Man were here, he’d of drawn his sword and stood his ground, but no! He’s intentionally ignoring us for some pretty boy he picked up off the street!” Another angered cry filled the night’s sky as the demon kicked up a hefty stone. The being accompanying him let out a soft sigh.

“Don’t you feel betrayed!? Come on, I know you miss fighting with him too!”

“I know, I do too. But ever since Jenos left us to treat his wounds, something’s been bothering me.” Seris confessed, her gaze never leaving the orb she brought along. It depicted the duo they’d been tracking for a while now, the slayer returning to be greeted by a young man with long blond hair, but something felt wrong about it. Everything about it looked normal, yet the blond gave off a very strange aura. It felt all too familiar to her. The infernal scowled, letting her shoulders sag as she was left pondering for clues as to who the stranger was.

“I want answers just as much as you, Talus. You aren’t the only one that misses him.” The Oni huffed in defiance.

“Jenos wasn’t killed! He’s still out here somewhere, I know it!”

“Talus, calm down! I didn’t mean it like that. If he were killed, I’d of been the first to know. He promised me his soul after all.”

The Infernal and the Oni stared at the ground for a brief moment. They missed their leader, their friend. He took them in when they were abandoned by their fellow hunting groups, gave them a home and a second chance. They were absolute monsters when they hunted together, reaping souls left and right without worries. With Soul Eater’s sudden disappearance, the two became nervous wrecks.

The Oni groaned, his tail falling limply to the ground. He lifted himself onto his feet and looked out over the sea of debris and broken buildings. “What do you suggest we do then? We can’t exactly take them both on, we’ll get our asses handed to us. And we can’t change how we look, either.”

“I know.”

“So...what do we do?”

Seris put the orb away after giving it some thought. She neared the roof’s edge then climbed onto the very edge of it. “We wait for Zhin to leave.” Before her partner made any objections, she continued firmly, “I feel we might have better luck speaking with his new friend while he’s gone. Something about that man feels familiar to me, eerily so, so I thought we’d have the best chance to speak with him when Zhin leaves to scavenge for food.”

Seconds ticked by as her plan began to make sense to the small demon. Talus’s confusion quickly morphed into a twisted smile, and soon the Oni was standing right beside her on the edge of the rooftop. He looked up at her and winked before slipping his mask back on, muffling his voice slightly as he spoke.

“Well? What are we waiting for? We’ve gotta be there when Zhinny boy leaves!”

The demonic duo gave each other a nod before jumping off the edge. Talus plummetted downward, landing harshly on his hands and feet. Seris gracefully made it to the rooftop of a shorter building, the one Zhin had spotted them from. Making sure the other wasn’t badly hurt from the fall, the two beings continued to traverse the city ruins in search of their targets.

Y’know what I love thinking about? Lex. Y’know what else I love thinking about? Flank shenanigans. It only seemed natural to combine the two lmao

"I can't believe you've done this." Lex said.

This being every flank (and he did mean every flank, self-proclaimed or otherwise) somehow managing to obtain their own versions of the uniform that Lex wore proudly. They were all even tailored to fit them perfectly, as if they all went to the same shop that Lex had visited once upon a time when he graduated the academy.

"Does it look good on me or what?" Pip said happily. Lex didn’t respond to the vulpin’s comment, choosing to instead to ask,

“Why?”

“Why not?” Skye answered. He was pretty sure her pants – a generous assumption, since they were more like shorts – was not regulation standards. “I love getting into a man’s uniform.”

Lex just pinched the space between his brows and sighed.

“Y’know if I wasn’t a monk from the order, I would seriously consider the cop career.” Buck said.

Maeve made a noise of disagreement from her perch on top of the bookshelf next to Evie. “No thanks. Too many regulations and rules to for me.”

“Androxus?” Lex tried.

The Godslayer shrugged non-commitedly. “Sometimes the Law involves bringing gods to justice.”

Even glancing at Zhin only yielded a perfectly neutral face as he besmirched Lex’s order with every second he spent in that Lawbringer’s uniform. Lex turned on his heel and started walking back through the doorway he entered, but was stop by a large figure in familiar blue.

The flanks, even Pip, he could understand, but really? “For bloody sakes Fernando! You’re a frontline!”

“Not today I’m not amigo.” Fernando said smugly, looking neat in his own uniform.

For Lex, the day was over before it could even begin. “If everyone is done fooling around, I’ll be in the shooting range.”

He finally made his leave, passing by Mal’damba along the way. Wekona’s chosen had a comical double-take at the leaving officer and the similarly dressed individuals. “...do I want to know?”

Skye reappeared by his side, leaning on his shoulder to point at Fernando. “Depends. Didn’t you always say you liked a man in uniform?”

Mal’damba followed her line of sight, then tugged on his collar.

Since recently learning that bombking was a complete accident and is absolutely hysterical, how do the other champs/paladins react to being called his subjects? Would they retaliate or let him get away with it? Would some play along? Sub Question: Why would he be chosen to be a paladin (or apart of the magistrate) if all he can be is an accident?

I don’t think he is a Paladins or part of the Magistrate. His lore mentions “Bomb King struck out on his own delusional quest to visit all the lands under his rule.” which implies that he’s neither team and instead is on his own. Likely he also believes that the whole war is on his land and is rude and unacceptable, so he fight for no side to drive them off of his supposed land. 

Not a lot of the champions are too tolerant, especially not those on the Magistrate’s side. Zhin, Lian, Mal’Damba and Jenos would be furious about it. They are masters of their own, and yet this walking ball dares call them his subjects? They wouldn’t stand for it. Ying might play along sometimes to get Bomb King’s cooperation, but it never really works because he thinks she’s complying with his demands instead of the other way around.

what kind of funerals would each champion have if they were to die in battle? assuming it's some great battle or something like some fantasy war?

Writing from the context that only one champion died and everyone else is still alive and attending the funerals. By the way, some are more of burial ceremonies than funerals exactly…? But you get the point. Btw I couldn’t come up with a few of these, so I ended up filling those in with extra HCs.

We’re just gonna leave it under a cut since it got super long and also some of you might not want to read it because death mention and discussion. 

- Mod Mal’Damba

Makoa: A simple one, in which the champions silently pay their respects as they sail out to Makoa’s favourite islands, and give the Ancient One a proper burial at sea by lowering his body in a special wooden casket into the depths. 

Fernando: Fernando would’ve wanted to be celebrated, and so his funeral would be more on remembering his glory and fighting spirit on the battlefield as the champions give him one last toast in his name. 

Ruckus: Ruckus was buried along with the ashes of a destroyed Bolt, not far from Splitstone Quarry. They had both wanted this, despite saying they hated each other to the bitter end. At their funeral, the other Paladins made a special toast in the name of their dysfunctional but powerful friendship.  

Barik: Barik’s body was placed upon a stone pedestal in a small cave underground, surrounded by his inventions, both complete and incomplete. The Paladins paid their respects, and sealed the cave away by blocking the entrance with a massive boulder. 

Ash: As a general serving the Magistrate, Ash was given a grand and honourable funeral by the state, a public cremation for her and the soldiers in her vanguard. All the Paladins attended to pay their respects, all except Terminus, who only watched from a distance in silence. 

Torvald: Before his death, Torvald had only wished to be buried near the libraries of Stone Keep alongside his precious scrolls and scripts. The Paladins abided by these wishes, though they were unable to completely fulfil it, as anything Torvald owned relating to runic magic was nowhere to be found. 

Inara: After her death, the champions raised Inara’s body as a now lifeless stone statue within her beloved sacred lands as her soul returned to Mother Nature, living on as the guardian spirit of those lands. 

Drogoz: Dragons don’t have funeral rites because in the past, it was a matter of survival of the fittest and those who couldn’t survive didn’t deserve to survive. Having friends that actually cared for him more than wild dragons would have, Drogoz’s funeral is simple. His body is buried in the Enchanted Forest under an open gap in the canopy, so that he can fly off freely.

Bomb King: Bomb King had always wanted to “go out with a bang” even after death, which was why the others respected his unusual wishes for his funeral, setting his body up with bombs and fireworks on a small, uninhabited island, so he could have one last grand explosion in his name. He always was quite the drama queen. 

Cassie: Her father Arturos flew back to Crosswind Hold for his daughter’s funeral, as does Cassie’s mother she hasn’t seen or been close to in years. While her parents do the most during her funeral, wake and burial, her friends in the Paladins are there the whole time and celebrate her life as it was. 

Lian: Her body would be dressed in gold silk and crystals, and she will be cremated upon a golden pyre as per the traditions of House Aico, to symbolise her rise from the ashes in the next life, like that of their golden phoenix.

Kinessa: As a bounty hunter, Kinessa knew death was always near for her. She didn’t mind, and asked for a quick and easy burial should it ever claim her. That was exactly what the Paladins did, giving her a simple funeral and burial near the base.

Sha Lin: Having been a traveller in life, the champions believed his spirit should be free to continue his journey in death. And so, they left his body atop a mountain in a traditional sky burial for his soul to ascend to the skies as they body is left in nature’s hands. 

Viktor: Like any soldier’s funeral, Viktor is given a proper military send off, including a flag draped over his coffin, and the three-volley salute for his military honour in death. His coffin is buried in the military graveyard, amongst many others that he knew, or did not.

Tyra: A Viking’s send off, her body set off on a boat dressed in her battle armour, with her weapons and prized possessions all with her to bring to Valhalla as Sha Lin fires the flaming arrow and sets her boat ablaze. 

Willo: Mourned both by the Paladins and the Summer Court, her funeral takes place within the latter’s grounds. Her grave is stuffed with her favourite flowers, and was later buried in a flower field without a coffin, so that one day her body may become nourishment for the flora. 

Evie: As an immortal, she knows she will never have a funeral. However, if she were to die somehow, the only thing she wants for her funeral would be for it to be held during a gently snowing evening.

Skye: “Make sure I look pretty for my last party okay?” were Skye’s dying words as she passed with a smile on her face. Heeding her last request, the others dressed her up in fancy purple clothes as they held an open-casket funeral service for her. 

Androxus: Finally freed from the curse in death, Androxus’s funeral was more of a ceremony of his release rather than a mourning of his passing. After a simple burial near the Paladins base, Seris personally escorted his soul into the afterlife.

Buck: Having strong roots to the earth, upon his death Buck was cremated and his spirit released into the afterlife, where he took the form of an ox spirit to watch over his friends.

Maeve: Her only wish had been to be cremated with her precious enchanted coat and knives that had helped her through her hardest times on the streets. A simple funeral is held for the rest to pay their respects, and later, they scattered her ashes into the nighttime winds.

Zhin: Held by the Thousand Hands, with the Paladins in attendance, Ying as their sole representative during the process. He is cremated and his ashes left in an urn kept by the Thousand Hands on a shrine to their past great leaders, where the followers of the Thousand Hands will pay their respects to on his death anniversary.

Lex: A public funeral is held for him by his fellow lawmen, with salutes in his honour as his coffin is transported to a military graveyard where he is to be buried among others who have been killed in action. A much smaller, private funeral is held at the Paladins base, in which the others quietly paid their respects, as he would’ve liked it.  

Mal’Damba: The night before his funeral, a vigil is held by the other Supports in his honour, and his bed removed from his room to signify his passing. His body is cremated and scattered, his spirit released back to Wekono. Pancake is released into the wild with Grover’s help, and Waffles returns as a spirit to join Wekono and her master once more in the next life. 

Pip: Pip was buried in a special graveyard sacred to the Vulpin north of Brightmarsh, at the base of a massive waterfall. During the funeral service, the others burned all of his personal belongings before his grave, so that he may take them with him to the afterlife, as per Vulpin beliefs. 

Grover: His funeral was a planting of his body into the ground of his favourite forest, where the last of his magic transformed him into a normal, non-sentient tree, so he can live on one last time. 

Grohk: At Grohk’s burial, which took place under a lightning storm as per his culture, the Paladins gathered around and danced around a totem raised in his honour, each dropping a flower, provided by Willo, who had been given responsibility over Grohk’s garden, into his grave atop his coffin as they danced close. 

Seris: Though Seris cannot actually die, the damage done to her physical form had been too intense, banishing her to the depths of the Abyss, never to return to the mortal realm again. Knowing that they would never see her again until their own time came, the other Paladins held a quiet memorial for her. 

Ying: Upon her death, Ying’s form faded, leaving behind only her shattered mirror. The other Paladins placed the broken mirror in a beautiful shrine decorated with many flowers dedicated to her, and many tears were shed during the memorial service. 

Jenos: Upon his death, Jenos’s body had dissolved into starlight, and floated up to the heavens, where the stars took his form in a new constellation. The other champions then held a memorial for him under those new stars to pay their respects. 

Strix: Strix’s body is dressed in his combat attire and lavender, and the mark of a warrior was painted onto his face. He is cremated within a simple coffin, and after a seven day mourning period, the other champions spread his ashes on the ground within the forests, returning his body to the earth. 

Talus: As per Ska’Drin traditions, Talus is given a warrior’s funeral, his body is left beneath a great tree, one final rune of honour to be tattooed on his chest, done by Mal’Damba, as the champions surround him with flowers. (Yes it’s Rue’s death from the Hunger Games don’t kill me.)

Terminus: Terminus himself never cared for a funeral, but upon his final death, accepted Inara’s offer of a traditional Stagallan warrior’s send off. The Paladins took his body was taken high up a mountain near the Paladins base, where Inara embedded his form into the cliffside. 

Vivian: It wasn’t a simple funeral, but it wasn’t particularly grand either. After her burial in a coffin engraved with her sentinels, a feast was held in her name, honouring her.

Paladins Fortress

Since it’s tf2’s 10th birthday today (I doubt you haven’t heard of it, it’s kind of a big deal on steam, number 1 ranked war themed hat simulator on the steam market to date. Not to brag.) and I thought it would be a perfect time to send in some Paladins Fortress headcanons!

Scout: He would probably be spending most of his down time flirting with most of the female cast and getting hurt because of it, but it’s totally worth it when he can get atleast one giggle out of any of them. He’s also big pals with Fernando and often challenges him to a “Man Off” to see who is the best! Fernando cheats alot according to Scout. Maeve has also been someone he could relate to and their friendship is strong enough to regret killing one another whenever they’re opponents.

Soldier: As the man with a plan to issue KOS orders to his enemies, he loves to teach others how to be a great soldier like himself. He likes to outdo Drogoz with his rocket launcher and show up Lian with his militaristic prowess. But when he’s not fighting the good fight, he spends alot of time with Viktor, Tyra, Ash, and Lian and swap stories of great strategic battles and how he destroyed a sentry nest on 2fort all by himself and capped the intelligence.

Pyro: Alot of the Paladins are either weirded out, or somewhat fear, Pyro. They’re a nice… person… once you get to know them, and Ying has definitely spent more than enough time to understand and get to know Pyro. Both Talus and Willow are good enough friends with Pyro to understand their strategies in battle and appreciate their crayon drawings. Pip is by far Pyro’s favorite healer and is overjoyed to see him on his team.

Demoman: Being the demolitions expert that he is, Bombking instantly grew attached to him and loves to just sit and watch him work. He also can be caught having long and intelectual discussions with Torvald that can honestly get pretty deep, he might be an alcoholic but when he’s sober his mind can stretch farther than most. He’s also the only one who can match Barik during drinking matches and has won as much as he’s lost against him.

Heavy: Heavy can be an intimidating, and albeit shy, person around new people but Ying was the most approachable person and they bonded fairly quickly. He’s also made a strong friendship with Viktor and Tyra, often talking about their state of the Mother Land during their time before they became a Paladins. Makoa has invited him to many meditating sessions when Heavy’s anger starts to peak and he’s been greatful to get out of thoes situations and be able to calm down. Heavy is one of the few people who the Healers get along really well with, and they’re always glad to have someone reliable on their team.

Engineer: Despite their obvious common interest and line of work, Barik and Engi do not get along at all and often times bicker about how to build things. Barik, being the stubborn dwarf that he is, won’t let the man with 7 Phd’s use any of his golden Austrailium technology to improve his weapons and make them upgradable, but that’s just petty squabble. While Engi and Barik are not knee deep in a shouting match, Engi often spends time with Torvald, Ruckus, and Bolt. He can also be seen killing it on his guitar during karrokey night and melting everyone’s heart and sole with his sexy southern drawl.

Medic: He’s never been in competition over the Healer slot before, and having other people try and do his job keeps him on edge to be the best he can. With that said, he’s very friendly with all the healers, and tries to learn what he can from where he can, be it the elixers Mal'damba uses, how the abyss can heal someone’s soul, or how to turn a collection of stars into health from Jenos. He’s also used to most of the Flanker’s “leaving the healer” shenanigans and is quick with a comeback if they come back extremely injured. He doesn’t mean any if it, he’s just had too much practise dealing with Scout.

Sniper: He is also set on edge no longer being the only sniper, but he’s not nearly as friendly to his competition as Medic is. He likes Cassie, Stryx, Kinessa, and Sha Lin, but he’d much rather stick to his own Jar throwing techniques and not bother anyone. He’s normally alone, not very social most of the time, but he has grown a fondness for Inara and does talk to her from time to time. He also has a thing for animals, and the Paladin’s pets are no diffrent. He’ll give them extra treats when he can and he learns as much about them as he can, what they like, what they don’t like, ect. He’s never wanted a pet for himself but he’s more than happy to give affection to all the other animals he comes across.

Spy: He’s just as private as Sniper tries to be, but that’s not to say he doesn’t pop in on most conversations and adds his two cents into it. He comes off as annoying at first, but as the Paladins get to know him, he becomes more tolerable and knows where his boundaries are. He’s more willing to get to know the Paladins who are hard to crack and get close to. He’s shared his fair of secrets to Adroxus and Zhin to warrant them to tolerate him and trust him, and he’s shared more than enough drinks to butter-up Skye and Ash to get passed the thick layer of Facade they feel they need to keep up and hide their true selves. He talks to them and treats them like people, making them feel very comfortable around him and not have to worry about loose mouths letting their secrets go. It’s what he was payed to do after all, so keeping friendly secrets and helping people on the side is a hobby he likes to do from time to time.

I love TF2. End of story. I started my FPS journey with TF2 and I sure as hell haven’t stopped. *strokes my Unusual and my 2.5k kill Rocket Launcher* Happy 10th birthday TF2!! Also want to mention Engineer has 11 PhDs actually but who cares about specifics

Follower Discord Server

Hi guys, Mod Inara here. By popular demand, we’ve decided to bring back the follower server. You can thank Mod Zhin for bringing this up. 

However, that being said, given what happened with the previous server that got shut down, we are going to be much stricter this time around with people who break the rules. We hope you all understand and let’s all make our second server a much better place. 

We will give out the link soon when we are ready. 

The following is the list of rules and such. Please read through them and understand why we are choosing to be much stricter this time. 

GENERAL RULES

Be Polite - Respect the mods and their authority in the server, as well as one another, regardless of differing opinions. Respect everyone’s triggers and squicks if any (check #introductions). No insults, no mockery, no disrespect. If you disagree with something, keep the discussion friendly, otherwise drop it and move on. Do not start a serious argument within the server.

Respect Each Other’s Ages - As we will be splitting people between 18+ and under 18 on the server, please be responsible on your part when interacting with someone who is a lot older or younger than you are. Respect the boundaries between each other. This is a serious matter. There will be no age harassment tolerated.

100% No Hate - From ship hate to discrimination, any form of hate is not welcome. You are free to say you dislike a ship or headcanon, but do not send hate to someone who likes it. State your dislike and request a change of topic. Failing to do so will earn you a strict warning, and subsequent offences will result in a strike on your name. HOWEVER, anyone caught making racist, sexist, anti-LGBT+ etc comments will be immediately permanently banned from the server and blocked on Tumblr. More details below.

Possible Disputes - This cannot be avoided. If someone says something you deem “problematic,” educate them as respectfully as you can instead of calling out. However, we understand that discourse cannot be avoided at some point, and it can also get rather heated, and with that we recommend you move to the #debate channel to continue your conversation. The mods retains the right to cut a conversation short or even ban people if debates get too aggressive.

Contacting The Mods - You are free to talk to us privately at any time, but do not spam us or send offensive things. Be patient because we all live on different parts of the globe, thus will be living in different timezones and may not reply till much later. If you would like to make a report against another member of the server, let us know why and provide screenshots of their offence. You must provide proof of offence if reporting someone to us, to prevent possible false accusations. Further action will be taken should we deem it serious enough.

Keep To The Channels - The channels are there for a reason. Do not post things not related to the respective channel topic. Server members are encouraged to remind each other to go to the proper channels for related conversations. Members who repeatedly do this will receive a warning and if continued, a strike to their name.

NSFW content -  This is separated from the rule above because the previous server was taken down because people constantly broke this rule. Remember that the server will have minors, and so do not talk about such topics OUTSIDE the NSFW channel. Don’t be irresponsible and discuss such topics with those not of age. We take this extremely seriously and anyone caught breaking this rule will be dealt with.

OFFENCE & PUNISHMENT

The following is a list of offences you can make that will guarantee a warning or strike, which will land you in a respective role on the server. Members with a Warning role will eventually be freed from it if no further offence is committed over a certain period of time. However members with a Strike role (“First Strike”, “Second Strike”) will NOT be written off the role unless ALL the mods plus the member(s) you have offended, if any, decide to give you a second chance. If you receive a third strike at any time before this, you will be banned from the server, and, depending on the severity of your offences, may be blocked from the blog and discord server permanently.

I want to spazz about lian her voicelines the trailer and ash and just everything because holy hell she has ties and i need to know what her connection to ash and torvald is and why no one even thought to attack her in the preview but she straight up aimed at and totally shot Zhin just saying

Okay okay, there’s a lot going on right now and we have to take this slowly. Wouldn’t want to miss any important bits of information about her, now would we? So let’s start with her name and title. I’m going to be answering other asks as the same time in this one big thing because everything links up.

Lian, Scion of the House Acio. So already we have three very interesting bits of information and that is her name, her title, and her house. A scion is defined as a descendent of a notable family (ignoring it’s second meaning about being a young shoot of a plant), and given that her house is revealed, we know she is the descendent of the nobility. So “House Acio” must have/have had a lot of influence at some point or another within the Realm, be it within or outside Crosswind Hold. 

Now about her name. “Lian” is a very Chinese-stylised name, so immediately we might be forming links between her and three other champions - Sha Lin, Ying, and Zhin. How she is related to any of them is highly unclear (especially between her and Ying), so let’s look for more clues. I’d like to draw attention to her clothing and weapon. Red and gold colour schemes, and gold trimming on her weapon. Quite similar to a certain other champion, no? (Ignore that the image of Lian doesn’t have her default red-gold skin)

I might be getting ahead of myself, but I have a theory that Lian and Sha Lin are siblings, albeit not very happy ones. Remember that Lian’s initial title during datamining was “Princess”, and Sha Lin has been called a prince (or princess, mockingly) by Zhin and Maeve in their taunts. 

Ask by @lucypyon: Also!!! They Said that Lian has the biggest amount (and quantity) of that magical Crystal in her outfit, amoung all champions. It is because of her noble blood or something like this.

If you look carefully, the entire barrel and possibly the stock and grip of Lian’s rifle is one massive crystal. Not to mention the crystals on her earrings, circlet, necklace, and possibly all the little beads on her hairpiece and belt. Who else also has large crystals? Sha Lin. Of course Sha Lin doesn’t have as much of it as Lian does since his only crystals are the two on his bow and bracer, but comparatively to the other champions, this is a lot more. Assuming they got it because of their links to a wealthy and noble family, this further enforces the idea of being related.

The idea of them being siblings is however, countered by the fact that based on the teaser image of Lian on Paladinsgame’s Instagram, assuming that crest of the symbol of House Acio, it has very little if not nothing to do with the desert which we all know is where Sha Lin comes from. Lian appears to originate from Stone Keep (given the crest, her trailer, plus the affiliations she has to Torvald who also came from Stone Keep), and Sha Lin has nothing to do with that.

This is what makes her so fascinating, because here we have Zhin and Maeve, two of the champions who are known to have the least amount of respect for others who are stopping a fight on Lian’s presence. Clearly she commands a sort of power to her, be it the way she carries herself, or that they know of her. I doubt they know who she is and are rather just a bit stunned that some random woman has just walked straight into their battlefield like it’s absolutely normal given the way Zhin and Maeve share a look of confusion with each other after Lian has walked past.

Given her wealthy and noble upbringing, I do agree that Lian is likely a bit of an elitist, the same way Zhin thinks he’s above everyone else. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s going to make some of the more jealous Paladins difficult for them to really get along well with her. She clearly shows off her beauty and wealth that she very well knows she has.

Anon asked: twitch. tv/ videos/ 157343167 1:06:54 is when they start voicelines but the crew did bring up her house and nobility earlier and her ult line is "Kneel before me" so very interesting character but i dont believes she's a malicious one. i do love how it appears the ones with the lowest morals seem to respect her greatly in her preview so her house could be something on the imperialistic side or mafia-esque in the end

Like I mentioned above, they might just be a bit stunned. Who wouldn’t be, when a gorgeous woman no one’s met before walks right in like she owns the place (and perhaps she does, given her background and her historical affiliation to Stone Keep) and starts shooting everything up? But I do also get the feeling that her family has delved into some rather dark business, perhaps even that of the Thousand Hand Guild? Zhin doesn’t seem all too surprised to see her, indicating that they may have met before, or that Zhin has known the House Acio and its members. I don’t think Lian was ever directly involved in the business of the Thousand Hand Guild, but someone in her family might have been.

Anon asked: Lian "i have respect for you Ash but ive been wrong before" i sense a past relationship here and i love it

Ash might have fought in a war against House Acio which is what brought the family down. A family that noble and strong is bound to have its enemies, and I can only imagine that if it were to have affiliations to the Thousand Hand Guild, Ash would only want nothing more than to take it down. The Guild however, doesn’t play very fair when it comes to “allies” and may possibly have backstabbed the House and assisted in it’s downfall, which is why Lian is here to get revenge on both sides. 

However, Ash could also have worked for Lian and her House, which is why Lian respects her. As Lian commanded the army of her House, her actions and decisions are what led to its downfall, regardless of how hard Ash tried to help.

Besides trying to avenge her House, what other reasons are there for her, a daughter of the nobility, to show up here as a Paladin to fight? Assuming she has relations to Sha Lin and Zhin (more importantly Zhin given how the House might have been associated with the Thousand Hand Guild), there may be more than old debts of the House to settle, and some more... personal issues she needs to take care of.

If she did shoot Zhin in her trailer (although she could have shot both of them), this might indicate some form of a personal issue with Zhin that goes beyond more than him and the Guild leading to the downfall of her house. She goes to Stone Keep knowing very well what she’s there for, and it’s almost like she expects Zhin to be there. There is no hesitation from her, nothing. She came for a reason and that was to kill someone. Probably Zhin.

Fanfic where Drogoz struggles with feeling a "confusing" emotion! (like love, worry With someone else, etc)

Love was by far the strangest of all emotions. Drogoz had seen it being expressed by many of the other Paladins to each other. When he was younger all he knew about “love” was that it’s what brought two dragons together to make eggs, but even then sometimes love wasn’t in the mix. He generally understood it as something that happened when two people liked each other very much, but the Paladins had very odd ways of expressing love to each other.

He was very much an observer, and in his time he’d seen many kinds of love he never knew existed. There was the familial love that most if not all the Paladins shared. A brotherhood and sisterhood that had formed over years of being together that could never be broken.

Then there was what Ying called “platonic love”, which she said was what she and Fernando had between them. That one confused Drogoz a lot, because to him it always seemed like that liked each other, but Ying had explained that platonic love was something more than friendship but less than romantic partners. He still didn’t get it. 

He didn’t know two members of the same sex could love each other as well, but Ash and Tyra quickly debunked that. He also didn’t get it, because how could you make babies like that? Tyra mentioned that love didn’t need to involve having kids, which went against everything Drogoz had previously understood. 

Then you could also apparently “love” a pet? That one went far beyond the dragon, but he didn’t really want to ask. Most other animals were just lower beings to Drogoz. He liked some of the pets the other Paladins kept, like Zhin’s tiny phoenix dragon, but he didn’t understand how anyone could love a pet, what with his understanding of what love was. Zhin and Cassie both said it was about the understanding that a pet was a friend for life and the willingness to put down their lives for their pets.

There was also many ways of showing love, none of which Drogoz was familiar with. Willo gave gifts that had personal significance in the form of meticulously arranged bouquets, Bomb King giving some of his most treasured pieces of jewelry and gemstones, Fernando showing physical affection, Grover through day-to-day care, Skye through flirtatious words... it was all so much.

Love was a confusing emotion. Drogoz had never really felt it, and perhaps it was best if it remained that way.
