[ad_1] Indian cricket (Men’s and Women’s) in UAE in recent years (PC: BCCI/X) New Zealand thrashed Pakistan to secure their spot in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup semi-finals from Group A, alongside Australia. This meant that India suffered a group-stage exit with only two wins from four games. The UAE continues to be a tough hunting ground for Indian cricket, both men and women, in recent times. The men’s team faced a group-stage exit in the 2021 T20 World Cup and failed to win the Asia Cup the following year. Now, the women’s team has also had a disappointing World Cup campaign. The struggle to crack the UAE code continues. The UAE’s pitches are similar to subcontinent ones, with balls spinning, gripping, and coming slowly on to the bat. Subcontinent teams like India are expected to do well here, but the opposite has been true. In this campaign, batters like Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana struggled to time the ball. Both players thrive when the ball comes on to the bat, allowing them to play their natural game. But when the spinners were introduced early, even in powerplays, they could not rotate the strike. India’s spin bowling unit consisted of Shreyanka Patil, Asha Sobhana, Radha Yadav, and Deepti Sharma. Apart from Asha, the others struggled, especially Shreyanka and Deepti, who could not find the right pace for the Dubai and Sharjah surfaces. For example, against Australia in Sharjah, where bowlers were getting spin and low bounce, Shreyanka still went for 32 runs in her four overs at an economy of 8, which was well above par for such conditions. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here India Women vs Australia (Image: ICC) Both the men’s and women’s teams have struggled against top sides in the UAE. The men lost to Pakistan and New Zealand in the T20 World Cup, and to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the ‘Super 4’ stage of the Asia Cup. Similarly, the women’s team lost to New Zealand and Australia, though they managed wins over weaker sides like Pakistan and Sri Lanka. What is the solution? The quality of India’s players is unquestionable. So, is there a need to adapt their techniques? Probably not. The issue may be in the mind. The team needs to strengthen its mindset, especially in crunch moments. India’s players, though suited to these conditions, could not exploit them when it mattered most. Teams like Australia and New Zealand have this mental edge, and it shows in critical games. Building this mentality comes from consistently winning such matches. It is the process that instills belief. This World Cup was another wasted opportunity for the Indian women’s team to start building that winning mentality. But Indian fans hope that it will only be a matter of time before the team overcomes this UAE jinx. With the right mindset, future tournaments could finally bring success.

Australia Knock Out Favourites Pakistan In Electrifying Thriller
T20 World Cup - 2nd Semi Final - Pakistan vs Australia
Australian middle order batter Matthew Wade turned defeat into victory for his team as Pakistan, the hottest favourites to win the T20 World Cup, were knocked out in the semi finals in Dubai on Thursday night in what became a most electrifying contest.
Chasing 177 to win Australia were almost dead and buried at 115 for 5 with just five overs left. But Wade turned the match on its head hitting three successive sixes against the most feared Pakistan paceman Shaheen Shah Afridi in the 19th over after they needed 22 runs in the last two overs.
Two of the sixes came off towering scoop shots behind the keeper that flew into the spectator stands and the other a cracking blast over the head of mid-wicket Hasan Ali who dropped Wade in the third ball of the over bowled by Afridi with 20 more runs needed.
Wade finished the match with an unbeaten 41 in just 17 balls with 22 of them coming in just the last four deliveries that he faced.
Wade's partner Marcus Stoinis who opened his account with a six could not believe his eyes at what happened at a stage when Australia may have thought it was he who was expected to score the winning runs if it were the case as he remained unbeaten on 40 from 31 balls with two fours and two sixes.
Before the two came together, Australia had blown the match apart as skipper and opener Aaron Finch was out for a first-ball duck, trapped leg-before to Afridi followed by Steven Smith (5) and Mitchell Marsh (28) hitting the ball up in the air in desperation that resulted in catches that brought about their dismissals.
Things got worse for Australia as David Warner did not review a caught-behind ruling against spinner Shadab Khan one run short of his 50 as television replays showed the ball missing the edge of his bat.
Warner was soon followed by Glenn Maxwell hitting a ball from Shadab in a switch hit attempt to give square leg fielder Haris Rauf a catch with his score on 7 that put Australia in dire straits at 96 for 5 in the 13th over, still needing 81 runs in 7.4 overs.
Earlier Pakistan put into bat after they lost the toss, scored 54 runs in the last four overs as Fakhar Zaman scored an unbeaten 55 in 32 balls with three fours and four sixes in reaching 176 for 4 in the 20 overs with opener Mohammad Rizwan making a top score of 67.
Scores: Pakistan 176 for 4 in 20 overs (Mohammad Rizwan 67, Babar Azam 39, Fakhar Zaman 55 not out, Mitchell Starc 2 for 38)
Australia 177 for 5 in 19 overs (David Warner 49, Mitchell Marsh 28, Marcus Stoinis 40 not out, Matthew Wade 41 not out, Shadab Khan 4 for 26)
