Nr.331, The German 12,8 cm PAK Kanone K44
The 12.8 cm Pak 44 (Pak from German Panzerabwehrkanone "anti-tank gun") is a German anti-tank gun used during World War II.
It was designed as a result of experiences on the Eastern front in 1943. The German Army came upon the Soviet 122 mm field guns and issued a requirement for a similar weapon.
Development initially concentrated on a field gun known as the Kanone K 44. However, once heavier Soviet tanks such as the IS-2 started to appear, the design requirements were altered to include an anti-armour role.

It's midnight and I am really tired but a head cannon has come to me.
Irken paks react to nightmares, like how dogs will run in their sleep except it's the pak reacting to stimulation and threats in a nightmare
Pak legs form a protective cage around the Irken, pak fans whirl, the pak overworks itself trying to keep its host safe from non-existent threats and makes the Irken feel worse when they wake up because their energy made their already restless sleep worse.
Goodnight sorry for my sleepy rambling

MY GOD WHAT A BEAUTY THIS FACE IS JUST
SOOO ZAB AAAAAAAAAAA💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
And yes, Zab didnt know speak irk, but yknow the pak does everything except teach Zab how to read irk (?) Zim is sad bcs of that(???)

I don't have any specific questions outside of do you now have any soda head cannons you're cooking up?
YES ABSOLUTELY:
he drinks from little plastic baggies with straws that stores in soda sometimes
he'd be the type to talk in Taglish (Tagalog-English) once or twice, but mostly in English so people would understand although he would sprinkle in a couple of slang
he has definitely called emizel "pre" before (pre is like saying bro)
for any fizzfangs enjoyers, "mahal" either means love or expensive. you could have soda just look at emizel and go mahal and emizel look at him to ask what it means and soda fumbling to say it means expensive and emi looking it up later. idk just a silly thought :3
his most used slang terms are "uy/huy!" (oi/hey! [interchangable]), "pre" (bro/dude), "bobo/gago" (idiot/stupid), and 'tangina/putangina (motherfucker)
Examples of on how to use it:
"Uyyyyy Emizel!" (Heyyyy Emizel!)
"Huy!" (Oi!)
"Emizel, pre." (Emizel, bro.)
"Gago ka ba?!" (Are you an idiot?!)
"Putangina!" (Motherfucker!)
he's the type to also say/type/pronounce english words differently due to our accent and use of slang
Shit would be pronounced as "shet", fuck would be "pak", etc. (Based on my personal experience)
This is all I have so far but teehees

Invader Zim Deathmatch:
ROUND 4, FIGHT 4:
PROFESSOR MEMBRANE VS TAK!
The rules are as follows:
1. We’re assuming that both participants actively want and are willing to kill each other unless actively specified otherwise (for example: Chammy Wamboo).
2. The fight must be one on one so no outside help is allowed, but prep time is allowed.
3. The rule for prep time is that if one contestant gets prep time, the other contestant gets an equal amount of prep time as well.
[Masterpost]
Information about both contestants (who they are, powers and abilities, etc) can be found under the cut.
Contestant Stats:
Professor Membrane:
“S C I E N C E”
Appearances:
Professor Membrane appears all over the place in the series, so I won’t list them all. He has a big role in the Movie though
Powers and abilities:
Intelligence (Membrane is Earth’s smartest scientist, being incredibly intelligent by human standards. However, this intelligence is limited to more Earthly and grounded regions of science, with Membrane unable to figure out things like hyperdrives and time travel and all that sci-fi-esque stuff and writing it off as completely impossible and theoretical. The most advanced thing we ever see him create is a perpetual energy machine the size of a building, and aliens were able to create a much more compact version of that themselves (the infinite energy producing machine from The Trial).
Fighting Skills (Membrane is shown to have somewhat decent fighting skills. It’s not on par with something like a soldier, but it’s more than the average person)
Bionics: (Membrane’s arms and possibly legs are mechanical, giving Professor Membrane the following abilities):
Flight (using his bionics, Membrane can fly and hover)
Energy Blasts (using his bionic arms, Membrane can fire blasts of energy from his hands)
BIG Energy Blast (by using both Bionic Arms at once, Professor Membrane can basically preform a dragon ball Kamehameha large enough to destroy a massive area in front of him. However: Given how he only preforms this move once and every other energy blast he fires afterwards is considerably weaker, it’s very likely that he can on preform this move once per fight (most likely for reasons related to power or overheating given how his arms need to take a moment to cool down after preforming the Kamehameha). It’s also very possible for him to miss as the move only shoots straight forwards (albeit with a very wide beam))
[Unusable] Meteor (when Membrane first appears to fight in ETF, he falls from the sky and creates a massive explosion that wipes out the entire area around him. HOWEVER, this explosion was most likely caused by Membrane falling from orbit and hitting the ground extremely hard and not any of his bionics or abilities, just gravity and possibly Membrane attempting to use his Bionics to break the fall, so it won’t be counted as an ability or power. It’s just has too specific requirements for him to use in a fight, even with Prep Time)
[Weakness] Glass Cannon (Membrane can hit extremely hard, but his human body is just as weak as a regular, untrained human, with Zim managing to knock Membrane out cold with one hit. He’s strong, but only as durable in a fight as a regular human, making him a serious glass cannon)
Fun Fact:
Membrane doesn’t believe aliens don’t exist like many fans portray him. He believes in extraterrestrial life, but doesn’t believe that said life would ever be able to communicate with or come to earth due to the vast distance between stars and the fact that while aliens are fully possible in his mind, FTL travel and communication is simply science fiction.
Tak:
“Dirtlord of Dirt with a planned 70 year reign”
Appearances:
Tak appears in the episode “Tak; The Hideous New Girl” and has a cameo appearance in Dookie Loop Horror.
Powers and abilities:
Irken physiology (can lift over 3 times their body weight and is extremely durable)
PAK (PAK legs, PAK lasers, shield generator, all the things an Irken PAK can do)
Elite military training (Tak went through irken military training, but fell just barely short of becoming an elite soldier because she missed the final test. This means that Tak has roughly the combat skills of an elite soldier)
Holograms (Tak has the ability to create holograms, letting her turn invisible and disguise herself. However, we never see Tak affect anything but herself with these holograms, implying that her holograms are limited to just covering her)
Mind Control/Wipe (using her holographic tech, Tak can compel creatures to do things. She can also wipe memories with the same tech. However, creatures of even average intelligence or greater are completely immune to its effects, meaning that it’s only effective on already stupid creatures. Even Zim is immune)
Fun Fact:
Out of universe, Tak is cursed. I mean it. Every time she tries to appear in an Episode/Comic/Movie/etc, something stops her. The show was cancelled before she could appear in any more episodes (which was supposed to happen), a last second animation error kept her out of ETF, copyright issues kept her out of all the comics but the last one where she gets a one panel cameo (the same thing happened to Skoodge there). It’s almost like the universe actively doesn’t want Tak to have more appearances.
Additional Thoughts:
I think it’s a lot more of an equal fight than you’d expect. Membrane can absolutely decimate the area because he’s Professor Membrane, but Tak can also turn invisible, making it very hard for him to actually hit Tak. Plus there’s the fact that we KNOW that one good hit from an Irken can take him out courtesy of Zim knocking him out cold in ETF.

Ooh yay thank you for the excuse to rant about my tiny army men project. Here's all the ones I've done so far!
Together these amount to one unit each of Germans and Soviets for Flames of War plus a couple of cannons. I have the rest of the cannons all sprayed up and ready to paint. I feel I need to up my game a bit with the bases, as they're the most visually noticeable thing about the figures from a distance. At the moment I'm just sticking on some static grass and calling it a day.
In total I have another platoon/battalion of German and Soviet infantry, 3 more 76mm cannons, another PAK gun, 3 nebelwerfer rocket artillery launchers, and the command squads still to paint up of the infantry, and then 7 T-34s, 3 Valentines, 4 SU-85s, 2 Panzer 4s, 2 Panzer 3s, 2 Panthers, and a Tiger to go for the tanks. The tanks should be a lot quicker to do as they are not so tiny and the Soviet tanks just tend to be big and green. Only taken me about 5 months to get what I've done so far finished!
I also have a plan to make a gaming board for them to play. I found a tonne of polystyrene on the street which I'm planning to use as a base for it stuck to some mdf. The polystyrene was convenient all cut into 2' x 4' rectangles, so I'm going to assemble each separately so they can be stored easily in 3 sections and allow for some modular switching around of the map.
I'm going to carve a river into one section of polystyrene, and then use some grass textured paper that is sitting in my parents' loft from back when I first went insane about this to cover it and give it a nice texture. I really ought to read more into how to do this before just Doing It but I feel like I've got a good idea about what I want and how to do it.
What I'm less sure of is building other features into the polystyrene, like hills, and in the back of my mind there are other issues like whether the river is going to be too annoying a feature to permanently include on the map when it comes to gameplay (although I'm pretty set on it - I'm modelling a crossing over the River Psel during the Battle of Kursk). I want to be able to turn it into a city environment with lots of ruined buildings too.
But yes this has taken over my brain completely - it will take a while but I'm having a lot of fun :)

How difficult is to remove the Iyir-Kahn's PAK?
If they die imminently after the removal I imagine is better secure than what we've seen in the show and I'm curious to know what is your cannon for it :0 🖤
Good question!! You see, in this AU, the Iyir-Kahn are born with dysfunctioning organs or not even born with them at all. The Pa’ak acts as a sort of replacement for that.
The mechanism itself is both metallic and organic. On the outside, it’s made out of hard unbreakable metal. On the inside, it has artificial organs, arteries and veins, practically a whole nervous system.
The way it attaches onto the Iyer Kahn is that it shoots all those arteries and nerve endings inside their body. So essentially, if you rip off a Iyer-Kahn’s Pa’ak you are LITERALLY tearing out their whole nervous system along with it.

"...In a sense I feel useless, I long to have a deeper meaning in these vast open skies. I mean, some Irkens argue whether producing female smeets even has a purpose anymore. While many Irken women oppose this opinion... I sadly kind of agree. Granted, there's little sexual dimorphism between male and female irkens, so there is no difference in physical capacity between the sexes so they can both perform equal amounts of labor, if anything females just have more muscle and fat around their lower bodies. Even then I've heard other women argue that in the case of the smeeteries failing that we could be used to repopulate, but, I don't know. Only a few women are selected to serve this role in said scenario, and what even is there to raising smeets in this day and age? These paks render them fully precocial the moment they'd be born. There's no chance to truly nurture or bond with them, they're just told to "report for duty" where they'll be trained as cannon fodder. It's unfulfilling without a true sense of motherhood or fatherhood as deeper and meaningful intimacy is forbidden "for the sake of the empire". Male or female, there's really no purpose in an Irken's life other than to be a plaything for those lousy old brains. I've heard childbirth was especially brutal in the past, with relatively high mortality rates for the mothers. The control brains use this as an excuse for those miserable smeet-machines, but why couldn't we just have found ways to make it safer instead of creating cloning factories that reduce our species to nothing but emotionless toy soldiers? I guess whatever Kii couldn't have, no one could have... What a selfish bitch."
I wanted to practice writing by making a monologue for my main OC, Kreit, if she were a part of this hybrid AU (credits to @messinwitheddie as I've mentioned before in other posts)
I've always imagined Kreit being a higher-up in the empire, perhaps being in charge of Irk's infrastructure while tallest Red and Purple are on the Massive. Despite her genuine care for her fellow Irkens, she has always sympathized with the Resisty, mainly because they were an outlet for her to sneak out and complain about the control brains and the overall rigidness of Irken life, but as she interacts more and more with them, she learns the horrors and atrocities of the Irken Empire.

Nr.332, The German PAK 41/43 Scheunentor ( Barn door )
The Pak 43 (Panzerabwehrkanone 43 and Panzerjägerkanone 43 was a German 8.8 cm anti-tank gun developed by Krupp in competition with the Rheinmetall8.8 cm Flak 41 anti-aircraft gun and used during World War II. The Pak 43 was the most powerful anti-tank gun of the Wehrmacht to see service in significant numbers, also serving in modified form as the 8.8 cm KwK 43 main gun on the Tiger II tank, the open-top Nashorn and fully enclosed, casemate-hulled Elefant and Jagdpanthertank destroyers.
The 43/41 proved heavy and awkward to handle in the mud and snow of the Eastern Front and gunners referred to 43/41 as the "barn door" (German: Scheunentor),a reference to the size and weight of the gun. Nevertheless, the improvised Pak 43/41 proved an effective substitute for the Pak 43 until sufficient numbers of the more complex cruciform mounts could be manufactured to replace it in service.

Figured I'd remake an old shit post but this time with different angles~
Og + head cannon under the cut
I really like the idea that paks are incredibly sensitive since they are literally connected to all their nerves and control their body so messing around can cause the body to react in certain ways like: producing extra saliva, spasms, release of fluids, muscles tensing or loosening, pretty much you are poking the brain and nerves. So it can be stimulating if certain parts are pressed.
Sorry for my dumb head cannons I've had them for awhile and saw a post that reminded me so in general:

I had the idea that, sometime in the future, Min gets sick. Very sick. She recovers, of course, but she was in danger of dying.
So the control brains, probably not wanting to lose one of the only competent minds they have in charge, decide to give her a PAK.
The PAK gives her, among other things; immunity to diseases, an extended lifespan to that of an Irken's, spider legs, laser cannons, a universal translator, among many other things.
Honestly I just thought Min having an actual PAK would be neat. The image of Min having an absolute ball with the laser cannons with a grin on her face helped too.
OH!!! That’s honestly really sad!!! But don’t worry… she gets a pak… but… it’s not going to be as sad or sweet at that.

1944 07 SdKfz 234-3 mit 7,5cm KwK Dragon
The Sd.Kfz 234 series of 8 wheel armored cars was an improvement on the previous sd.kfz 232 series of 8 wheel heavy reconnaissance cars that had been used in the invasion of Poland and France. Ordered in 1940, they began to appear in 1943, first armed with a 5cm gun in an enclosed turret. With the war situation rapidly changing, two new variants of the armored car were ordered, the first, 234/1, armed with a 2cm Kwk 30 cannon and MG34 in an open topped turret, and the second, 234/3, armed with the 7,5cm K51 L24 in similar fashion to that seen on the sd.kfz 233, installed on the forward hull top in a fixed position. This provided fairly heavy firepower-enough to hit hard if the vehicle found trouble or provided limited fire support, but by June of 1944, when the vehicle was introduced, Germany was in desperate need of guns that could knock out allied tanks. The 234/3 remained in limited production until December of 1944, with 88 vehicles produced. They were sent to stabskompanie (staff company) in allocations of 3 234/3 and accompanied by 234/1 in deliveries, to be used for support of reconnaissance units, and likely employed in every conceivable fashion by the retreating German armies. In December 1944 the 234/4, armed with the 7,5cm pak 40 L/48 went into production.

Since The Trial was never officially made, I can headcanon things like the blob incident as going down however I want. Here’s my headcanon-fueled interpretation of it:
Miyuki is busy talking to a bunch of Vortian scientists about the Massive project. Technical details and all that. Suddenly, a young Zim bursts into the room holding a clear container with some sort of strange goo in it.
Butting into the conversation for a moment, Zim gives his prediction that the Massive won’t be able to fly with its current design (a prediction brought on by his building of the bridge cannon and concerns with how the cannon will be able to work on board the Massive) and tries to get his Tallest’s attention with his latest pet project, which he wants Miyuki to see the first test of.
Said pet project is a Blob capable of absorbing and redirecting energy. It’s a prototype for a sort of organic technology. Energy is fed into the Blob, which it stores inside itself. The Blob can then be programmed to redirect the energy to somewhere else. The Blob also eats a tiny bit of the energy it’s given to stay alive, circumventing the problem of having to to figure out how to feed organic technology.
The container that the Blob is housed in is made to showcase this, with a battery on one end of the cylindrical container and a light on the other end with the Blob being held in between, kept in place by a fancy scientific collar. The Blob is meant to be the connecting point between the battery and the light. All Zim needs to do is press a button and the Blob will be introduced to the battery and (hopefully) create an electrical circuit between the battery and light.
Unbeknownst to Zim however, the Blob has an error in its genetic code. Instead of transferring stored energy to somewhere else, the Blob will simply take energy in and refuse to transfer it anywhere, hoarding the power it has until it eventually uses it up to continue living.
But Zim doesn’t want to just test his creation out without his Tallest seeing. He’s spent a long time on it and he wants Miyuki to see its first real test.
But Miyuki is busy discussing the Massive project with Lard Nar and isn’t paying any attention to Zim. So a young and impatient Zim starts trying harder to get her attention. Throwing around a whole lot of “MY TALLEST” and waving the container around in the air. Miyuki continues to ignore him while she talks with Lard Nar and a few other Vortians.
Suddenly, Lard Nar notices that Zim, in all his yelling and waving for attention, is waving his little project very close to the Prototype Perpetual Energy Machine (that other scientists had taken to calling “the Infinite Energy Producing Thingy”). In fact, Lard Nar realizes that Zim is about to accidentally knock his container right into the thing. He yells “No! Keep it away from the infinite energy producing thingy!”, but it’s too late. The container in Zim’s hand just barely clinks against the Perpetual Energy Machine, and that’s all it takes.
Almost instantly, the Blob in the container is hit with enough energy to power the entire Scientific Station it’s in and absorbs all of it, bursting out of its container so fast that it can only be compared to an explosive going off in Zim’s hand. Zim’s hand that’s holding the container touches the Blob and is electrocuted by all the energy that the Blob is taking in, throwing Zim across the room in a burst of lightning and slamming him into a wall with enough force to significantly damage the wall and knock him unconscious for just a few seconds.
When he comes to a few seconds later, Zim can barely move or think. Everything seems slightly blurry, his ears are ringing and everything seems quiet and muffled (which is especially concerning considering the fact that alarms are visibly going off and he can make out the sound of people screaming), his left hand hurts like hell under his gloves and the rest of his body doesn’t feel much better. His PAK is also reporting damage (Fixable damage. He’ll live, but it’s still a problem until it can be fixed).
Then Zim sees the Blob he made, now several hundred times larger than it should be, grab Tallest Miyuki and devour her right in front of him. Needless to say seeing that snapped him right out of the probably-concussion-induced daze he was in.
After eating Miyuki, the Blob smashes through a wall and goes off to destroy the rest of Research Station 9.
Once the Blob is out of sight for a few seconds (plus a minute or so to process what he just saw), a heavily injured Zim gets up with difficulty (made even harder by the fact that his PAK legs were fried when he got struck by lightning and thrown across the room), limps his way over to a door, opens it, and limps his way on through, intending to get himself to the nearest evacuation point.
Zim, Lard Nar, Prisoner 777 and just a few others were the only people that made it out alive.

The Greatest in the Galaxy Part 19
“Zim! Wake up, Zim!”
Zim gasps awake and pants for breath. Kneeling over him is Kio, who sighs with relief. “Oh, thank the stars. I was worried you were really gone.”
“You couldn’t check my vitals with your goggles?” Zim asks. His whole body is aching and he’s having trouble moving.
She lifts her shattered goggles. “They were damaged in the explosion.”
“Explosion?” Zim questions and tries to sit up. Kio grabs his shoulders and eases him into an upright position so he can look around.
A heavy fog of dust and smoke is hanging in the air, obstructing much of the view. And more than that, Zim finds his own vision is blurring around the edges. All he can make out is the mech body lying not far away and figures dashing about through the smoke. Muddled, panicked voices can be heard nearby.
As Zim looks around, his hand bumps against something and he looks down to see Civ and Viv, lying unconscious next to him.
“What’s the status?” Zim asks, turning back to Kio.
“The head of the mech has been destroying, rendering it inoperable,” she replies, “the other Battalion members have been split up as a result. I do not know where they are. I believe they are alive, however, as Rory’s shield took the brunt of the Tallest’s blast. We were merely blown back by the force of the explosion. And your final blast after the explosion knocked down the Irken Tower. I would say we are at a stalemate.”
“Where’s Rory?” Zim asks.
“I’m not sure. I was more focused on you.”
Zim struggles to stand but his legs wobble beneath him like jelly. “We have to find the others. Gir, Minimoose. Wha-why won’t my PAK respond?”
He tries to get his transceiver device from his PAK but it won’t automatically open.
“You used up a lot of power with that last cannon blast,” Kio explains, “your PAK must be running on emergency power only. You need to refuel. Do you have a snack or something?”
“Yeah, in my PAK,” he replies. Kio opens it up and digs around inside. As Zim waits, he notices one of the cam-bots nearby, watching them.
“Kio,” he says, “do you still have your tablet?”
“Yes,” she replies, “mercifully, it was not destroyed in the explosion.” “Turn it onto the competition channels,” he orders, “maybe the other cam-bots have found them.” “Brilliant, Zim!” Kio cheers as she hands him a snack pack and sits next to him. She quickly turns her tablet onto the competition and they both watch closely as she flips through the channels.
---
“What happened to Squee?” Johnny demands.
“I don’t know what happened to any of them!” Devi snaps as she quickly flips through the channels. All that comes up are different angles of the walls of dust and smoke.
“I hope they’re alright,” Tenna mutters.
Skoodge, Carmen, Colton, and Maddie are quiet as they tensely watch.
“Wa-wait!” Devi cries as she stops on a cam-bot that’s swiftly closing in on someone lying on the ground. “There’s someone!”
“Who is it?” Tenna asks.
“It’s Squee,” Johnny replies, “it’s definitely Squee.”
“Is he okay?” Colton asks.
They’re quickly answered as the cam-bot reaches him.
---
“Squee. You gotta wake up now. Wake up, Squee.”
“Mmm Shmee...?”
Squee stirs awake, his eyes blinking open to find a cam-bot inches from his face. “Huh? You’re not Shmee. Wait!” He tries to sit up but a burning pain shoots through his side and he falls back down, crying out. He bites back screams as he looks down at himself. A terrible burn covers most of his stomach, the fabric of his shirt seared into it. “Oh, boy...okay...that’s pain...ugh.”
He squirms on the ground, somewhat writhing in pain but mostly wrestling his sweater off. Once he manages to shed it like a snake shedding its skin, he ties it around his abdomen, pulling it tight over his burn and groaning in pain.
He lies there for a second, unconsciousness pulling at his mind. He almost lets it until he notices something from the corner of his eyes. He looks over and sees through the dust and fog a pink light.
Squee pushes away his black out and rolls onto his side. “Get up. Get up.”
He winces as he falls onto his stomach and pushes himself up onto his knees. But when he tries to get higher than that, his body gives out and he collapses back onto his chest. He takes a few deep breaths and tries again but his legs won’t cooperate anywhere higher than a kneel.
“This isn’t working...” he pants and looks around. He notices the cam-bot watching him and he snaps his fingers at it. “Hey, you, cam-bot! Enjoying the show? Get over here!”
The bot hesitantly hovers a little closer. “Closer,” Squee demands impatiently, “come on, come on, it’s time for my close up.”
When the bot is within arms length, Squee catches it and wrestles it down until he’s able to sit on top of it. “Alright, this will work. Let’s go, cam-bot. To the pink light and quickly.”
The bot struggles to stay aloft and flies through the fog towards the light.
---
“Wake up, sleepy head.”
Pepito moans and rolls over onto his side. “Five more minutes...”
“Wakey, wakey!”
The shrill voice coupled with tiny, metal hands slapping his forehead knocks Pepito awake and he shoots up. “Ow, Gir! Wait, Gir?”
“Hi!” Gir cheers, waving his hand. Minimoose, who’s floating next to him, squeaks. A cam-bot is also with them.
Pepito looks around frantically. He’s on a random street and dust and smoke is clogging the air. Burns are scattered about his body and his clothes are tattered around the edges.
“Ugh, that’s right, that blast,” he says he stands up, rubbing his head. “Where’s everyone else?”
“I’unno,” Gir shrugs mindlessly.
“Where’s Zim?”
“I’unno.”
“You don’t know? Can’t you track him or something?”
“I’unno.”
“Ugh,” Pepito groans, planting his hands in his face. When he looks up, he spots a pink light beaming through the fog. “Guess I gotta do everything myself around here.”
He grabs Gir, Minimoose, and the cam-bot and tucks them under his arms. His wings extend from his shoulder blades and he takes off and heads for the light.
---
Tak was not knocked unconscious by the blast. She remembers every second of the explosion, the force that threw everyone in different directions, her spider legs barely catching a building to stop her fall, and the shock wave of dust and smoke that coated the nearby streets.
Now, her spider legs carry her up the building she’s on to the roof and barely pokes out of the dust cloud. As she looks around, Mimi bursts out of the fog and flies to her, swiftly followed by a cam-bot.
“Master!” the SIR unit exclaims.
“Mimi,” Tak nods approvingly and continues looking around.
“Where is it?” she asks in confusion. “The Irken Tower should be right...over...there... Tak trails off as she stares at the spot where the building used to stand, towering over all of the other buildings, but now there’s nothing there. “We did it? We actually brought it down?”
A smile creeps across her face than falls away. “Bit of a Pyrrhic victory right now. I hope the others are alright.”
Her spider legs carry her across the roof and leap to another nearby building as she heads for the site of the tower, Mimi and the cam-bot close behind. Along the way, she sees a pink light suddenly appear in the dust, right by the tower grounds.
“Fool,” Tak scoffs, “not like I need your help.”
---
Gaz blearily blinks awake. She’s on her back, lying on something hard, and being crushed by something on top of her, but it’s too dark to see what. She struggles to breathe as she tries to shove the thing off, exclaiming with exertion before finally throwing it to the side.
Dib cries out as his back hits the ground, the pain knocking him awake. He rolls onto his side and curls into a ball, writhing and twitching.
“Dib!” Gaz gasps and peeks at his back. It’s covered in a large burn, the fabric of his coat and shirt scorched into his flesh.
Gaz suddenly remembers the blast and subsequent explosion. Before the force knocked everyone away, Dib dove onto Gaz, protecting her.
“You idiot,” Gaz snarls and lifts up his head. “Hey, wake up!”
“I am awake,” Dib croaks, looking at her with heavy eyes.
“Good, keep it that way,” she snaps. She looks around but she can’t see much through the thick cloud of dust and smoke. “Where is everyone else? Where are we?”
Dib only groans painfully in response.
Gaz finally spots a pink light through the fog. She grabs Dib’s arm and wraps it around her neck, lifting him to his feet. “Come on, moron. We gotta move.”
Dib again groans as he leans against her, his feet dragging on the ground. “Mmm...you’re short...”
“You’re just stupidly tall!”
---
Zim and Kio flip through the channels as they watch their friends slowly wake up- or in Tak’s case, climb a building.
“They’re all injured,” Zim observes.
“That’s to be expected,” Kio replies.
“They won’t know where we are,” he states, “in my PAK is a flare. Fire it.”
Kio immediately obliges, firing the pink light into the air. It beams through the fog- a beacon for everyone to follow.
“Good, they see it,” Zim nods approvingly as he watches the tablet. “They’ll be here soon.”
“I’m worried though,” Kio says as she flips through more channels. “I still don’t see...”
“Guys!”
Zim and Kio turn at the voice and smile with relief. “Shmoopy!”
She quickly approaches the pair and crouches next to them. “Are you alright?”
“We will be,” Kio replies, “you?”
“A few burns and bruises,” she says, “nothing some ointment won’t fix. Where is everyone else?”
“They’ll be here soon,” Zim states and continues flipping through the channels. “But where’s Rory? I haven’t seen him yet.”
“That explosion was quite large and he protected us from it,” Kio muses, “could he have been...vaporized?”
“I refuse to believe that,” Zim snaps, “if Rory’s gone, then this whole plan will be hopeless.”
“It’s already hopeless.”
The trio look up at the new voice. Zim snarls as Red and Purple emerge from the fog. They both look a little worse for wear. Their faces are peppered with burns and their armour is cracked or dented. They’re even having a hard time hovering.
“Hello, Zim,” Red spits, “no surprise to see you alive. And trust me, Rory’s alive too. He wouldn’t be so easily destroyed either.”
“But it doesn’t matter,” Purple adds, “this whole ridiculous revolution is hopeless. You and Rory could never stop us. And first we’re gonna destroy you, then Rory, and we’ll do it for the whole galaxy to see.”
“Then everyone will be reminded of our might,” Red concludes.
They’re PAKs open up and they aim two lasers at the trio. Kio readies a force field device but she knows it’s pointless. It’ll never hold against both of their attacks. And try as Zim might, his PAK still isn’t responding. Shmoopy finds herself next to useless, so she just squeezes Zim’s arm and waits for the end.
The lasers power up and Zim growls defiantly.
“Tallest!”
Everyone stops and looks up at yet another voice as Rory marches out of the smoke. He’s also covered in burns and walking with a limp, but he doesn’t falter and stands strong between the Tallest and Zim.
“Oh, good, we can destroy Rory first then,” Purple snarls.
“Enough of this,” Rory snaps, “just give it up. Let it end.”
“It’ll end when we win,” Red says.
“Enough grandstanding,” he retorts, “don’t lie. Your PAKs barely have enough power for those lasers, don’t they? Even if you did destroy me, or Zim, that one shot would be all you have.”
Red and Purple flinch. “Wh-that-that’s not-.”
“Enough,” Rory insists, “just stop this.”
Meanwhile, the Battalion emerge from different parts of the fog, stopping as they see Zim and the others. But they’re not the only ones. Irken soldiers and the alien resistance also approach, everyone drawn by the pink flare. Cam-bots follow all of them and focus on Rory from a hundred different angles.
“Don’t you see?” Rory asks, almost begs. “All of this fighting is pointless. This whole competition is pointless. ‘The Greatest in the Galaxy’. The galaxy is a big place with thousands of planets and countless different species. There can be no single greatest and there doesn’t have to be. We are all great.”
“Ridiculous,” Red scoffs.
“But it’s true,” he argues, “didn’t you see it when my army was fighting yours? Swifs, Mus’ules, and Techons weren’t just holding their own against Irkens, they were besting them. Those so-called lesser races were defeating us superior Irkens.”
“The reason Irk is considered the best is because we have cheated our way up there, using fear as a tool. But the truth is, the other races have no need to fear us. If they all teamed up and fought back, Irk wouldn’t stand a chance. And you know it too.”
Red and Purple flinch and glance at the surrounding crowd, and especially at the cam-bots.
“D-don’t listen to him!” Purple squeaks, “this is all...fake! Yeah, it’s computer generated! Don’t fall for it!”
“Purple,” Red hisses, embarrassed.
“Your true colours are starting to show,” Rory smiles, “the truth is, you’re afraid of everyone else. Because you know that there’s nothing more special about Irk than any other race. We are all great.”
“And isn’t it better that way? I mean, if there was only one great race, then the galaxy would be pretty boring.”
Dib, Gaz, Tak, Squee, and Pepito smile as they listen to Rory. Around them, the rebelling aliens chatter amongst themselves agreeably.
And they’re not the only ones. Across the galaxy, all of the viewing races also talk amongst themselves- in their homes, in restaurants, or on the street. And they share this speech with their friends who may not be watching, and those friends share with their friends, until the idea is spreading like wildfire.
On Earth, Johnny, Devi, Tenna, Skoodge, Carmen, Colton, and Maddie are also glued to the screen.
“Aw, I love an uplifting message,” Tenna chimes.
“Ugh, enough of this,” Red snaps and points his laser at Rory. “If we destroy you, then all of these lesser vermin will see your message is futile.” The Battalion flinch and try to rush forward.
“Fine, destroy me,” Rory shrugs.
The Battalion and Red stop, shocked. “What?”
“But you’re wrong,” Rory says, “my message won’t lose its meaning. The damage is already done. The idea is out there. You can kill me, but you can’t kill an idea. And even with me gone- with Zim or the rest of the Battalion gone- the revolution will continue. And you will be defeated by the united galaxy.”
Red and Purple growl.
“Irken soldiers, to our side!” Purple barks.
Immediately, the surrounding soldiers rush to their Tallest’s sides and take up arms. But just as quickly, the surrounding rebellion ready their weapons.
Zim stands on shaky legs but Shmoopy and Kio keep him upright. His PAK opens up and hands him his laser guns and Gir and Minimoose pop up by his side. Civ and Viv fly up next to Rory and stand ready beside him.
“You see?” Rory questions, “united, as the galaxy should be. What happens next is up to you. Shall you surrender peacefully and with dignity, or shall your devastating loss be broadcasted across the galaxy?”
The Irken soldiers glance around nervously at the surrounding army. They are heavily outnumbered and with the tower gone, they have no reinforcements or extra weapons. Their knees knock in their armour. “M-my Tallest?” Red and Purple are also warily eyeing the surrounding army, feeling the weight of the situation. They share a look and retract their laser guns back into their PAKs.
“A wise choice,” Rory nods, “we shall return to Irk. There, you will surrender your mantle of Tallest to me before the control brain. Don’t worry, I won’t demote you to service drones or anything. You can remain in the palace, living quietly, like I have for the last many sweeps.”
The Tallest don’t reply, just sadly hang their heads. In response, their soldiers drop their weapons and follow suit.
“Did you rehearse that speech?” Zim asks.
“Actually I improvised it,” Rory grins, “did you like it?”
“Eh, I could do better.”
They both laugh and a relaxing air settles around the crowd. The Battalion smile and start to approach, greeting each other as they get close.
With everyone’s attention off of them, Red and Purple glance at each other and snarl. Simultaneously, spider legs extend from their PAKs and fold into each other, creating a giant laser cannon that towers over Rory and the Battalion.
“Insubordinate brat,” Red snarls as the cannon powers up.
Everyone flinches and prepares to retaliate, but nobody is fast enough before the weapon fires.
The force of the blast is enough to blow away the fog of dust. All of the surrounding soldiers and cam-bots are knocked back and immediately blinded by the sudden sunlight. But as quickly as they can, they look back at the Battalion. Everyone at home also tensely watches the screen.
The Battalion are fine. They’re on the ground, knocked over by the force of the blast, but no more injured than they were before. They’re all looking up in stunned silence.
The Tallest stand over them, their weapon aiming at them point-blank. They stare down in stunned silence.
All of them are staring at the figure in between them, his PAK shield having blocked the Tallest’s attack with ease. “Enough, my Tallest.”
“What!” they exclaim.
“You,” Squee gasps.
“Zinather,” Zim breathes.
Zinather turns back to the Battalion. His face is marred in dark green burns, his eyes barely able to open all the way from the damage. But he stands strong, not wavering at all even after taking the Tallest’s attack.
“What...why?” Zim asks, flabbergasted.
“Because Mar was right,” Zinather replies, “there is something wrong with our empire. I just didn’t see it...no, I just refused to see it. Until I got some sense beaten into me by that...human.”
Squee flinches as Zinather points at him.
“And,” he adds, “until I heard Lord Rory’s speech. There is something wrong with the empire. But Mar was also right that it can be fixed.”
Zinather turns back to the Tallest. “It is over, my Tallest. Time to surrender to a new generation.”
The Tallest’s cannon retracts back into their PAKs. Red and Purple, who had been having trouble hovering this whole time finally collapse to their knees. The whole of the galaxy share a collective gasp, having never seen the Irken leaders ever touch the ground.
“Fine,” Red grunts, “we...s-sur-...surren...surrender.”
Another gasp.
“Just don’t blame us when this ‘new generation’ ruins everything,” Purple scoffs.
“Should we restrain them?” Gaz asks.
“I can,” Pepito suggests, black magic sparking around his fingers.
“No,” Rory replies, “their PAKs are too depleted of power to pose a threat. Besides, what happens next should be handled by Irkens. This is now my mess to clean up.”
“Then that means the revolution was a success,” Zim smiles and stands up. He points his fist to the sky and all cam-bots focus on him.
“Irk has lost!”
