I know everyone thinks that they're the only competent person at their job . . . but genuinely am I the ONLY person at this jobsite with functioning brain cells
#the ceiling guys have been hounding us for WEEKS about our cable tray being too low#my coworker has re-worked it 3 times. they went to put the ceiling up today and it's STILL too low#so i had to fix it because apparently SOMEONE can't read a fucking tape measure#the drywallers also had to cut apart a bunch of drywall so my coworker could fix some switches that got fucked up#the drywallers are fucking PISSED and frankly they have the right to be. the wall was plastered and painted ffs#and then my foreman discovered that a place where he put a bunch of boxes was going to inaccessible so the boxes need to be moved#and then he didn't relay that information to anyone else so i caught two other coworkers trying to add boxes to that area#two apprentices tried coring through a wall without a bucket to catch the water from the cooling system and almost flooded the floor#that's not their fault. they should have had a fucking journeyman with them but my company is too cheap to hire enough journeymen#the lack of apprentice supervision is becoming a SERIOUS problem at this job site#i've always liked working at this company but i am beginning to consider jumping ship when i make journeyman this spring

I added more things to Lotus Tower! Can you spot them all? To be honest, I can't pick anything I'm the most proud of. I'm so pleased to see all of it come together like this. Perhaps my brain will finally let me put the project to rest 😂
Breakdown of all the new fun decorations and modifications below.
You can see the first part of my model build here, or more of my art and my craft projects in my pinned post, where you can also find a link to my INPRNT store and my ko-fi if you would like to support my creative projects in any way 💛
So, the first thing I wanted to do was utillise some spare parts from my Life of Su Dongpo booknook kit to make Li Lianhua a small tea tray:
I cut tiny planks of wood from a strip of basswood to form the sides, but the base and teapot come from the Su Dongpo kit. I was also able to make the goodest girl Hulijing a stand from the same piece that makes the base of the tea tray. Now she can sit in Lotus Tower anywhere she wants to instead of being stuck into the wood outside her kennel!
To hold the tea tray, I also made a table and stool similar to the one in the show, and created some tiny baskets out of beige cross-stitch aida to replicate the many baskets and storage Li Lianhua has hanging from the Tower:
In that same vein, I used thread to make a net for some more storage beneath the stairs:
And used part of a bamboo place-mat and some dried flowers to create a herb drying rack on the upper level.
One of the more complex pieces I created was a second sail to hang under the eaves of the gourd door:
It was difficult trying to get this sail to hold a good final shape as, just as with the other sail in my first build, I had to guess how much material would be needed and how to gather it. But I'm pleased with how it turned out in the end! It, like the herb rack, is hung from the eaves with small pieces of metal wire, bent into hooks and stuck into the reinforced card.
You can also see in the pictures above that I added "rope" and a fake hook to the shelf on the side of the Tower to make it a bit more accurate to the show's design.
(You will also see in the very first picture that I made a set of removable stairs for the porches - unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of their building process and kept forgetting to move them back into the big picture.)
The biggest addition, though, is of course the lanterns:
I am so proud of these. I made them from paper and basswood, and they are ridiculously tiny (about 1.5cms). I wasn't going to put lights in them to start with, but when I bought the tiny bulbs (I was planning to try and put them inside Lotus Tower at the time) and shone them behind one of the lanterns - it looked so good I knew I just had to try it.
So here's how I pulled it off:
I first carefully slotted the bulbs and their wires through the beams of the sail awning, twisting the red and blue cables around each other to give them more structure and make sure they were hanging at the right length. I made sure the wires both led back to the side of the Tower I was going to store the battery pack on, and fastened them to one of the supports of the awning so that the wires would discretely trail down to the floor of the upper level. (I also painted them at this time.)
As for the battery pack, I stuck a small piece of wood underneath the porch where Hulijing's kennel sits for the battery to sit on. I tidied up the wires as neatly as I could and fastened them to the side of the Tower with a spare U-shaped piece from the Su Dongpo kit, wedged into the window slats of the ground level (making sure there's plenty of slack for me to unfasten it and change the battery without struggle). I then joined the wires as best I could and painted it all a yellow-brown colour.
As you can see, it looks a bit crude, but once the roof is back on over the door, the wires all but disappear!
I am so sooo happy with how it's turned out. Please let me know what you think! Is there anything else you would add? Anything you would do differently?

Ah, again a lack of patience makes my results less than what I planned, but I do have a proper panel for my headphone amp now.
To recap, I wanted to be able to just plug headphones into my synth, so I built the dual NE5532 circuit on a scrap of perfboard and cut its original panel out of a cardboard box that held little bags of animal crackers. Since that kind of panel isn't exactly going to hold up to repeated plugging and unplugging of cables into its three jacks, I cut this panel out of a scrap of sheet aluminum, using tin snips to trim a couple of edges but mostly using nibblers, which chip out a rectangle of material roughly 6mmx3mm at a go. I wore a glove on my squeezing hand this time, so it's not all bruised like the last time I tried this, and it went much easier since I didn't need to cut any inside rectangles.
Once I had it cut out and cleaned off, it was too dark to take it outside and spray-paint it, so I grabbed a brush and a little bottle of black modelmakers' gloss enamel paint. I had to practically pour the stuff on to get a thick enough layer to be, y'know, black. Then I set it aside to dry, and when it still looked liquid after an hour, looked it up online to see the proper drying time. 48-72 hours, it said.
(Now, that may not be accurate. This is apparently a very old paint set; the box, containing 9 glass bottles of paint and a plastic tray, has a price printed on it of $4.39 and a copyright notice of 1980, so formulas may have changed dramatically since then. It's at least probably not lead paint, though it would have been made, at least in part, for painting lead figures.)
So I did what any terribly impatient person with a heat gun would have done, and ran it at the thing for five minute bursts for a couple of hours. That was all last night; the paint was dry, if perhaps not completely cured, today (after maybe 20 hours), so I went ahead and mounted the parts to it and put it in the case. It's an interesting glossy effect; it's not entirely opaque, which gives the aluminum a glass-over-metal look that I kind of like. I won't do it this way again, but I'm not displeased.
And of course, it works, which is the important thing. It'll drive either my good(ish) monitor headphones or earbuds, or provide a stereo signal to plug into an effect or recorder that wants such. It's very satisfying.

Functional and Fabulous: How to Style Your Home Library
A home library isn't just about shelving books—it’s a personal retreat for relaxation, reflection, and inspiration. Whether you’re an avid reader, a student, or simply someone who enjoys a cozy corner for unwinding, crafting a stylish home library can enhance your home’s ambiance and provide a serene, elegant space. With these expert insights from WeDezine, a leading interior design firm in Bangalore, here's how to design a home library that's both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
1. Choose the Perfect Location
Creating the right atmosphere starts with picking the ideal spot for your library. You don’t need an entire room—get creative with available spaces like an unused hallway, a cozy corner, or a section of your living room. Prioritize areas with natural light, but also consider adding blackout curtains or blinds to protect your books from direct sunlight.
Pro Tip: Transform awkward or overlooked spaces, such as under-stair areas or alcoves, into compact yet sophisticated libraries. Custom shelving can maximize these small spaces while keeping the aesthetic sharp.
2. Invest in Custom Shelving
Shelves are the centerpiece of your library, so opt for custom-built shelving that perfectly fits the dimensions of your space. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves create an impressive visual impact and evoke the charm of a traditional library, while modular units allow for flexibility as your collection grows.
Pro Tip: Combine open shelving with closed cabinets at the bottom. This lets you display your most cherished books while keeping unsightly items, such as cables or lesser-used materials, out of sight.
3. Master the Lighting
The right lighting makes all the difference in a home library. During the day, natural light is ideal, but for evening reading, a mix of ambient and task lighting is essential. Install a statement chandelier for an elegant focal point, and add task lighting such as table lamps or wall sconces near reading areas for focused illumination without glare.
Pro Tip: Incorporate dimmable lights to control the ambiance. Create a relaxing atmosphere for leisurely reading or brighten the room for research or studying sessions.
4. Prioritize Comfort with Seating
A home library should invite you to linger, so prioritize comfortable seating. Choose a plush armchair, a cushioned window seat, or a stylish sofa. Throw in soft cushions and a cozy blanket for added warmth. If possible, create multiple seating options to suit different moods, such as a reading nook for solo time and a larger seating area for relaxed lounging.
Pro Tip: If space permits, place a cushioned bench with built-in storage beneath a large window for a cozy, sunlit reading spot that also functions as hidden storage for extra throws, books, or magazines.
5. Select Colors That Set the Mood
Color choices can dramatically influence the feel of your home library. Soft, neutral tones like light grey, beige, or cream can foster a calm, serene environment, while darker, richer hues such as navy blue, emerald green, or burgundy give the space a more intimate, luxurious vibe.
Pro Tip: Use wallpaper or textured paints for added depth and sophistication. Consider a subtle botanical or vintage book-print wallpaper to give your library an elegant, timeless feel.
6. Accessorize Thoughtfully
A home library should reflect your personal style, so accessorize with intention. Add decorative items like plants, framed artwork, and vintage pieces to create visual interest. A stylish area rug can anchor the room, while decorative bookends and curated objects add layers of character to your shelves.
Pro Tip: Introduce small side tables or elegant trays where you can place a cup of coffee, candles, or additional books. These simple touches add both function and flair to the space.
7. Integrate Smart Storage Solutions
Not everything in your library needs to be on display. Incorporate smart storage solutions, such as cabinets or baskets, to maintain an organized, clutter-free space. Consider multi-functional furniture pieces like ottomans with hidden storage or shelves with concealed drawers to tuck away items you don't use daily.
Pro Tip: For valuable or rare books, opt for glass-enclosed shelves. This will protect them from dust while showcasing them in a refined manner.
8. Create a Stunning Focal Point
A home library, like any other well-designed room, benefits from a clear focal point. This could be a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf, a striking piece of artwork, or a cozy fireplace. A carefully chosen focal point anchors the space and adds visual interest.
Pro Tip: To enhance the library’s aesthetic, consider creating a gallery wall of framed art or literary quotes. This adds a personal touch and can be a visual conversation starter.
9. Organize Your Books with Style
How you arrange your books can also enhance the style of your library. Go beyond the typical alphabetical or genre-based sorting and try arranging books by color or size for a more visually appealing layout. Horizontal stacking, mixing in decorative objects, or highlighting rare editions can make your library feel curated and sophisticated.
Pro Tip: Use stylish baskets or trays to organize magazines, reading accessories, or current reads, keeping clutter at bay while maintaining an elegant appearance.
10. Incorporate Technology Seamlessly
Modern libraries often blend traditional and digital reading. If you’re a fan of e-books or audiobooks, integrate technology in a subtle way. Hideaway charging stations for devices, wireless speakers for audiobooks, or a sleek tablet stand can keep technology accessible without compromising your library’s aesthetics.
Pro Tip: Consider installing hidden outlets in shelves or behind furniture to power devices without visible cords cluttering the space.
By following these expert tips, you can transform your home library into a sanctuary that’s both functional and stylish. Whether you’re going for a modern, minimalist look or a classic, cozy atmosphere, the key is to create a space that invites you to relax, explore, and escape into a world of books. For a custom-designed home library that reflects your personality and lifestyle, trust WeDezine, Bangalore’s top interior design firm, to bring your vision to life.

SS Wire Mesh Cable Trays vs. Traditional Trays: Why Stainless Steel Wins
Introduction In any electrical or communication system, cable management is a vital aspect of design and maintenance. Whether in commercial buildings, industrial plants, or outdoor installations, choosing the right cable tray system is critical. Traditional cable trays, often made from materials like aluminium or galvanized steel, have long been used. However, stainless steel (SS) wire mesh cable trays are increasingly becoming the preferred choice for engineers and facility managers. In this article, we explore the benefits of stainless steel wire mesh trays compared to traditional alternatives, and why stainless steel is the ultimate winner.
SS Wire Mesh cable Tray
1. Durability and Corrosion Resistance
One of the most important factors in selecting a cable tray system is its ability to withstand environmental challenges over time. Stainless steel wire mesh trays excel in this area, especially when compared to traditional cable trays made from aluminum, galvanized steel, or coated metals.
Corrosion Resistance: Stainless steel is inherently resistant to corrosion, which makes it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications, as well as harsh industrial environments where exposure to chemicals, humidity, and temperature fluctuations is common.
Longevity: Unlike traditional trays that may corrode, rust, or degrade under environmental stress, SS wire mesh trays offer extended service life with minimal maintenance.
Chemical Resistance: In industries such as chemical processing, stainless steel’s ability to resist acids, alkalis, and aggressive compounds further enhances its durability, making it a safe option where chemical exposure is a risk.
Traditional Trays Comparison: Traditional trays, particularly those made from galvanized steel or with painted/coated surfaces, are more prone to corrosion, requiring regular inspections and re-coating or replacement. Aluminum trays, while lighter, can experience oxidation over time, particularly in environments with varying pH levels.
Wire mesh cable tray manufacturer
2. Structural Strength and Load-bearing Capacity
Stainless steel wire mesh trays might appear lightweight, but don’t let their appearance fool you. They are designed to handle significant cable loads without compromising on structural integrity.
Superior Strength: Stainless steel provides exceptional tensile strength, allowing these wire mesh trays to support heavy cable systems without warping or sagging.
Open Design, Same Strength: The mesh design reduces material weight without compromising load-bearing capacity. It provides ample strength while ensuring cables are fully supported across their lengths.
Minimal Sagging: Unlike solid sheet metal trays, wire mesh trays resist sagging under heavy loads due to their optimized weight distribution.
Traditional Trays Comparison: Traditional trays, especially solid sheet designs, require thicker, heavier material to provide similar load-bearing capacities. This adds weight to the overall structure, increasing the need for additional support components and making installation more complex and costly.
Wire Cable Tray
3. Ventilation and Heat Dissipation
Cable trays aren’t just about supporting cables—they also play a role in maintaining cable performance. SS wire mesh trays excel in facilitating airflow around the cables, which is a critical factor for both safety and operational efficiency.
Improved Ventilation: The open structure of wire mesh trays allows for maximum airflow, helping to prevent cables from overheating. This is especially important for power cables, which generate heat during use.
Efficient Heat Dissipation: Without a solid barrier, heat naturally escapes through the mesh, reducing the risk of thermal damage to the cables. This can improve the overall lifespan and reliability of the cabling system.
Traditional Trays Comparison: Traditional trays, especially solid-bottom types, can trap heat and restrict airflow around the cables, leading to increased temperatures and potential overheating issues. This is particularly problematic in systems with high-density wiring or in environments with elevated ambient temperatures.
4. Hygienic and Easy to Maintain
In environments where hygiene and cleanliness are top priorities, stainless steel wire mesh cable trays are an ideal solution. Their design and material properties make them easy to clean and maintain, which is why they are widely used in industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare.
Non-Porous Surface: Stainless steel’s non-porous nature prevents dirt, dust, and bacteria from accumulating on the surface.
Hygienic Cleaning: The open mesh structure facilitates easy wash-downs in areas where cleanliness is crucial, such as food preparation zones or sterile environments.
Maintenance-Free Finish: Unlike coated or painted trays, stainless steel does not require re-painting or treatment to maintain its appearance or functionality.
SS Wire Mesh Cable Tray
Traditional Trays Comparison: Traditional trays with coatings or paint may degrade over time, especially when exposed to repeated cleanings or harsh sanitizing chemicals. Over time, these trays can chip, rust, or lose their protective coatings, requiring more frequent maintenance or replacement.
5. Flexibility and Adaptability
Cable tray installations are often complex, requiring modifications, rerouting, or adjustments to fit the specific needs of a facility. SS wire mesh cable trays offer unparalleled flexibility in design and installation.
Easy to Customize: Wire mesh trays can be easily cut and shaped to fit custom spaces, tight corners, or unconventional layouts. They are versatile and can be modified on-site without the need for specialized tools.
Reduced Installation Time: The flexibility of wire mesh trays translates into faster and simpler installation processes, especially in intricate designs or retrofitting projects.
Traditional Trays Comparison: Traditional solid trays are more rigid and difficult to adjust once manufactured. Any modifications require more effort and time, slowing down the installation process and increasing labor costs.
6. Environmental Benefits and Cost Efficiency
While the initial investment for stainless steel wire mesh trays may be higher, their long-term cost efficiency and environmental benefits make them a wise choice.
100% Recyclable: Stainless steel is fully recyclable, contributing to sustainability efforts and reducing the overall environmental footprint of a project.
Long-term Savings: Due to their low maintenance requirements, long lifespan, and resistance to environmental damage, stainless steel trays offer significant savings over time when compared to traditional alternatives.
Lower Life Cycle Costs: Traditional trays may require frequent repairs, coatings, or replacements, which can add up over the life of a project. Stainless steel, by contrast, often provides a more cost-effective solution when life cycle costs are considered.
Traditional Trays Comparison: Galvanized and aluminium trays, while initially cheaper, may incur higher maintenance and replacement costs over time, as they are more susceptible to environmental wear and damage.
SS wire mesh cable tray
Conclusion
When comparing SS wire mesh cable trays to traditional cable trays, stainless steel stands out as the clear winner. With superior corrosion resistance, strength, flexibility, and ease of maintenance, stainless steel wire mesh trays offer an unparalleled solution for modern cable management needs. While they may have a higher upfront cost, the long-term savings in maintenance, replacement, and environmental benefits make them the ideal choice for industries that value efficiency and durability.

The Ultimate Guide to Designing a Small Home Office
1. Choose the Right Location
Selecting the best location for your home office is crucial. Even if you have limited space, try to find an area that is relatively quiet and away from high-traffic zones. A corner of your living room, a nook under the stairs, or even a small closet can be transformed into an efficient workspace.
2. Opt for Multi-Functional Furniture
In a small home office, every piece of furniture should serve more than one purpose. Consider desks with built-in storage, foldable desks that can be tucked away when not in use, or even a wall-mounted desk to save floor space. Multi-functional furniture will help keep your workspace organized without feeling cluttered.
3. Maximize Vertical Space
When floor space is limited, think vertically. Install floating shelves, wall-mounted storage units, or pegboards to keep your supplies within reach without taking up valuable desk or floor space. Using vertical space effectively helps to declutter your desk and creates a more streamlined appearance.
4. Incorporate Smart Storage Solutions
Smart storage is key to keeping a small home office tidy and efficient. Use filing cabinets that double as side tables, storage ottomans, or under-desk drawers to keep essentials neatly stored away. Consider using clear containers or labeled bins to make finding things easier.
5. Utilize Light and Color Effectively
A well-lit workspace can make a small home office feel more open and inviting. Maximize natural light by positioning your desk near a window, and use sheer curtains to allow the light to filter through. Incorporate layered lighting with a combination of task lights, floor lamps, and ambient lighting to create a well-lit environment.
6. Personalize Your Space
Your home office should reflect your personality and style. Add personal touches such as framed photos, artwork, or decorative items that inspire you. This will make your small home office feel like a welcoming space where you enjoy spending time.
7. Prioritize Ergonomics
Comfort is essential for productivity, especially in a small home office. Invest in an ergonomic chair that supports your posture and reduces strain during long work hours. Adjust your desk height and monitor position to avoid neck and back pain.
8. Create Zones for Different Activities
If your small home office serves multiple purposes (such as a study area or craft space), create distinct zones for each activity. Use rugs, partitions, or even different paint colors to visually separate these areas, making the space more organized and functional.
9. Use Mirrors to Create Depth
Mirrors are a great tool for creating the illusion of more space. Place a mirror opposite a window or on a wall that reflects light to make your small home office feel larger and brighter. This simple trick can open up the room and create a more spacious feel.
10. Keep Your Cables Organized
Cables can quickly clutter a small space. Use cable organizers, clips, or boxes to keep cords tidy and out of sight. You can also label your cords to avoid confusion and make your workspace look cleaner.
11. Add Greenery for a Fresh Feel
Plants can bring life and freshness to your small home office. Even if space is limited, opt for small potted plants or hanging planters. Greenery can improve air quality, reduce stress, and add a touch of nature to your workspace.
12. Maintain a Clutter-Free Desk
A cluttered desk can lead to a cluttered mind. Make it a habit to keep your desk clean and free of unnecessary items. Use desk organizers, trays, and file holders to store documents and stationery, and only keep essentials within arm’s reach.

Table Fittings: Enhancing Functionality and Style
Tables are not just pieces of furniture; they are functional and aesthetic elements that play a crucial role in our daily lives. Whether it’s a dining table, a work desk, or a coffee table, the right fittings can make a significant difference in terms of usability and overall appeal. In this article, we will explore the world of table fittings and how they can enhance the functionality and style of your tables.
1. Table Legs and Bases
The foundation of any table lies in its legs and bases. Table legs come in various styles and materials, such as wood, metal, or even acrylic. They provide stability and support to the table, ensuring it can withstand the weight and movement of objects placed on it. Additionally, table bases offer additional stability and can be chosen to complement the overall design theme of the table.
2. Tabletop Fasteners
Tabletop fasteners are essential for securing the tabletop to the table frame or base. They ensure that the tabletop remains firmly in place, even when subjected to pressure or movement. Common types of tabletop fasteners include clips, brackets, and screws. These fittings not only provide stability but also allow for easy disassembly and reassembly, making it convenient to transport or store the table if needed.
3. Table Extensions
Table extensions are a great addition for those who frequently host gatherings or have limited space. These fittings allow you to extend the length or width of the table, accommodating more guests or providing extra surface area when required. Table extension mechanisms can vary, ranging from simple pull-out extensions to more complex systems that fold or slide into place seamlessly.
4. Tabletop Edge Profiles
The edge profile of a table can significantly impact its overall style and comfort. From sleek and modern to ornate and traditional, there are numerous edge profiles to choose from. Some popular options include beveled edges, bullnose edges, and chamfered edges. These fittings not only add visual interest but also provide a comfortable resting place for arms and hands.
5. Cable Management Solutions
In today’s digital age, many tables serve as workstations, equipped with laptops, monitors, and other electronic devices. Table fittings such as cable management solutions help keep the workspace organized and clutter-free. Cable grommets, wire managers, and cable trays allow for easy routing and concealment of cables, ensuring a clean and professional-looking setup.
6. Tabletop Finishes
Table fittings also include various finishes applied to the tabletop surface. Whether it’s a protective coating, such as varnish or lacquer, or a decorative finish like paint or stain, the choice of tabletop finish can enhance the table’s durability and visual appeal. Different finishes offer different levels of protection against spills, scratches, and UV damage, allowing you to customize your table to suit your specific needs and style preferences.
In conclusion, table fittings play a vital role in enhancing the functionality and style of tables. From the legs and bases to tabletop fasteners, extensions, edge profiles, cable management solutions, and tabletop finishes, each fitting contributes to the overall usability and aesthetics of the table. By carefully selecting the right fittings, you can transform an ordinary table into a functional and visually pleasing centerpiece for your home or workspace.
