A couple weeks ago I started a #bulletjournal to help get better organized. I've had so much going on lately, I needed a system that worked for me, without having to learn something too new. I've thought about doing a #bujo before, but didn't take the time to review it much. Finally, I grabbed an old journal I didn't use, and set it up. When I finished out the month of June, I was hooked. For now it's kept simple. I'm a list maker, and this allows me to keep being a list maker, but I can now find and prioritize my lists. I have a place my brain can be dumped, and I love it. I really enjoyed @boho.berry YouTube tutorials #bulletjournal101 I found them very easy to digest and pick up the system quickly. I bought a @leuchtturm1917 in #emerald to begin July. I've tested just about every black pen I own to determine which would be the most comfortable, and look the best, on the paper. My favorites were the @pentalicart #illustrationpens @paper_mate #flairpens @sakuraofamerica #micronpens and @pilotpenusa #g2pen what's your favorite pen of the bunch here? Last night my family was out at an event they'd been helping with all day. I had the evening to myself. I pushed aside all of my task list and set out to paint with no purpose. I went on Instagram Live and was joined by some awesome people. @veronicas_design @theletteringfox @sparrowscribbles @willowbeedesigns @sh4ri and so many more! We had some awesome discussions. My daughter came home and narrated the comments for me, including describing emojis 😂. All in all it was great fun! I'd like to make it a regular event. I just need to figure out a good day and time to keep consistent. Recommendations for the next live? I could hear the fireworks after the parade from my apartment. We live near downtown, so we can always hear or see the good times without going far. I got this cool idea from @see_amy_draw when she made individual swatch cards for her paints. I added an eyelet to each of my dot cards I used, and put them on a ring. These all have a little paint left, but when they are depleted they make great swatch cards! I have a few sets of dot cards left in my shop, free shipping! I spent the morning in #downtownboise with some friends wandering the #boisefarmersmarket we enjoyed some delicious street food and watched the citizenship ceremony. It was so cool to see so many awesome organizations supporting refugees. My husband and I were inspired to look into volunteering to teach English and computer skills with one local organization. Boise was named the most welcoming community in the country. That just shows one of the many reasons why I love it here and am so glad we live here now. It's becoming more diverse every day. I've always loved and appreciated diversity. I have a hard time choosing favorites of anything. Favorite movies, favorite books, favorite colors, I just love a lot for different reasons! I love a lot of people and appreciate the cultures, personalities, and traditions we all share and bring together. As part of this amazing community on Instagram I am often reminded of the diversity we have. From where people live to the art they create. Each of you are unique, and individual, but we are also part of this amazing group that better each other with our contributions. I'm encouraged by each of you and I just wanted to take a moment out of this day to tell you that! Day 63/100 #hosta I'm playing catch up on my challenge after having the worst sinus viral nastiness all week. I used my #paintandletters primary palette to mix up all these lovely colors in my @pentalic #watercolorfieldsketch book. 1 page left in this beautiful beast and I'm waiting for new ones to arrive EEP! We talked during the live stream about paper quality and how big of a difference it is with your watercolors. I showed my pentalic paper as being awesome for everday work and even final pieces. It's not 100% cotton like the arches is, but it's up there with high quality celluloid papers. . . Day 86/100 #marigold so while painting this in my @pentalic #aquajournal I recalled the same memory I always have when I see marigolds. When I was in 5th grade we lived in a duplex in Liberty, MO. I got the wild hair that I had to grow flowers from seeds. We had been studying about plants in school, so I was a little obsessed with growing them. I can't recall how I got the seeds, but I obtained a packet of marigold seeds. These were either magical seeds, or marigolds are insanely easy to grow. Sure enough, they grew and were beautiful!
