Silly thought: What if the Traveller accidentally kidnaps Dottore's lover?

This will happen way before they meet them. The Traveller somehow, is able to sneak into the main lab of the Doctor and finds his test-subjects. Of course being the hero that they are, releases them and offers them refuge in the Teapot (I'm still pissed that the Teapot is hardly mentioned in main story quests it could be a Trojan horse but nooo)

They come across this 'test-subject' who has heavy security for some reason. Determined to not leave anyone behind, they break through the defences to get to the hapless 'civilian.'

The Traveller gets there and takes away the 'test-subject', the Traveller hopes that they wake up once they are in the Teapot.

[Dottore's spouse wakes up from their refreshing nap and finds themself in a completely different place with a lot of strangers. Why are Dottore's test-subjects out? Actually - where even are they?!

And Dottore returns to an empty lab 😋 rip to the Traveller. Dottore is going to rip Teyvat from the ground up and he wouldn't find his spouse until the Traveller makes the connection.]

The Traveler thought that they had prepared to the fullest, heading into Dottore's lab. Carefully scoping it out, even managing to get their hands on the mapped layout somehow, observing the patterns and schedules of the guards and agents who seemed to be placed everywhere... general sneaky stuff, that wasn't nearly as easy as it sounded as this had to do with the Doctor after all. Nothing was ever simple when it came to the Harbinger, but despite all odds, they got lucky, only because the segments were no more and they chose a day Dottore himself was not there (that was also painstakingly planned). Of course, once the Traveler successfully completed their mission and freed all those poor souls, they felt rather good about themselves. Any plan of the Doctor's thwarted was always a good thing.

When the Traveler comes across such someone so highly tucked away, they automatically assume the worst! You must be an invaluable test subject who provides him great research but through immeasurable pain (just look how tired you were)... one that he can't keep his eye off! What a terrible fate you've been subjected to, one at the hands of the mad Doctor! Worry not, the Traveler will save you (not)!

...However, the blond failed to obtain information on a very, very important factor - the little-known soft spot of Dottore.

Now poor you, expecting to wake up to a familiar ceiling and maybe even your husband's embrace, but instead the sky above is more blinding than anything you've witnessed in years. And there's a strange bird floating spirit thing. AND the infamous Traveler and Paimon are worrying over your well-being... even more so when you start getting overwhelmed knowing you're far, far away from Dottore.

Now of course, test subjects are just test subjects and although losing them was a waste, he could always procure some more. You, however, was a completely different story. Needless to say, the agents are quite scared to go near the Harbinger as they've rarely seen him in his state - absolutely silently seething. The only way to salvage the situation is that the Traveler just needs to hope a hair hasn't been touched on your pretty head.

(Cue the freak out between Paimon and them once they realize the truth. Even still, the Traveler is semi-convinced you might be brainwashed or something - the whole Akasha terminal thing in Sumeru was enough proof. They're a bit reluctant to hand you over but seeing the way you bolt toward the Doctor was enough to convince them...)

So, wouldn't it be fun if, when the Cataclysm happens, we temporarily enter a trial stage where we can see what the rest of Teyvat is doing while we're (presumably) in Khaenri'ah?

Like, Paimon makes an off-handed remark about how she hopes our friends are alright before we enter a domain, and next thing you know, we're playing as Jean back in Mondstadt, following her as she orders the knights to defend the city, before finding out to the Cathedral has been targeted and running up the flights of stairs alongside Lisa, Noelle, Mika and Eula. Once they reach the Cathedral, they rush to the basement alongside Barbara, only to find Albert rifling through priceless artifacts.

Then Albert reveals himself to be an Abyss Herald, saying how he spent the past years pretending to be an unsettling Barbara fan so he could be near the Cathedral and figure out the building's layout, as well as learn more about Barbatos.

We then beat him up for it. (I just want an excuse to beat up Albert). And, after the battle is over, Barbara wonders about Rosaria's whereabouts.

Rosaria is currently rushing through Springvale, trying to reach Wolvendom to see if Razor is alright. Diona, Bennet and Fischl are following her, alongside Draff and a few hunters.

They fight alongside Andrius and a pack of wolves, fending off the Abyss, especially the rifthounds (the people of Springvale evacuated to Mondstadt City).

And, just as the next wave of monsters appears, we cut to Dawn Winery, where Diluc, Kaeya and Amber are protecting the estate. (Assuming Kaeya is in Mond and not fighting his demons back in Khaenri'ah).

Meanwhile, in Dragonspine, Albedo, Mona, Klee and Sucrose are fending off a bunch of Abyssal monsters with the help of Albedo's siblings (there's an entire pack of rifthounds circling the group in a protective manner).

Then we hear an earth-shattering roar and a revived Durin suddenly takes to the sky, starting the final segment of the Mond Cataclysm fight, where we accompany Dvalin, Durin and Venti in a battle in the skies, the old foes now allies.

Then we jump from region to region, finding out how our friends are doing while the world burns to the ground.

Notable mentions that I'll probably include in another post at a later date include:

- Qiqi healing Millelith soldiers while Keqing fends off the Abyss;

- Hu tao, Shenhe and Baizhu dealing with restless spirits in Wuwang Hill;

- Rhodeia single-handledly protecting Qingce Village with a thousand Hydro mimics;

- The Akitsu Kimodameshi Youkai children attempting to protect other kids in Hanamizaka, and when that almost fails, Itto and Yoimiya swoop in to protect the kids;

- Sara, Heizou, Kokomi and Gorou working together to fend off monsters coming from the Dark Sea to Watatsumi, with Raiden on the frontlines;

- Yae sending out fox spirits to protect Narukami Island from atop the Shrine;

- Xiao, Yelan and Yanfei fighting at the Chasm;

- Wanderer fighting alongside the Pari before returning to Sumeru city to help Nahida;

- Nahida and the Aranara coordinating efforts to protect and guide all the people of Sumeru, be if by offering protection or providing oasis and safe havens;

- The Akasha being temporarily back so the entire regionof Sumeru is connected, with eremites and people from the rainforest sharing knowledge, be it the location of enemies, evacuation routes or first-aid tips. The children and elderly are also swapping stories, to calm each other down and avoid panicking;

- Nilou is guarding the Sanctuary of Surasthana, not that anyone is getting near Sumeru city, what with the green shield of Dendro and Apep looming in the background;

- Lyney and Lynette looking for Freminet, only to see a gigantic hydro construct of Pers fighting a Wolflord alongside the Salon Solitaire (Freminet and Furina besties agenda);

- Enemies such as Treasure Hoarders and Fatui fighting alongside the playable characters against the Abyss.

i went in thinking penacony was a far superior former IPC prison planet to live on than eris (from nexus) and left going hm. perhaps the eternal night is preferable to biblically accurate flying killer worms. LOTUS-EATER > the reverie hotel

this update might be my favorite yet. i've always loved dazzling, noire veneers with seedy undercurrents. i'm not sure if i've mentioned it on this blog (i probably have bc i never shut up) but the game la noire is one of my all-time favorites. jazzy music, glamorous starlets, corrupt organizations; those set pieces just do something for me. the environments are gorgeous. the reverie hotel has this larger than life feel to it and its layout reminds me of a panopticon, then there's the dreamscape itself. a city that never sleeps which you can only access by falling unconscious. there's so much creativity in the puzzles and charm in the little interactions littered throughout. i especially loved playing matchmaker with a bunch of bottles.

alright, onto the story itself: the start and end were strong with the middle being a hit-or-miss. i am far more forgiving with this in star rail than i am in genshin, since in the former, i'm subjected to the cruel and unusual punishment of hearing paimon's banshee shrieks. i think they did a good job crafting a compelling mystery. anything involving the unconscious is a writer's treasure trove, there's so much you can explore with it. i'm curious to see the angle they take.

as for the moments that stood out to me the most:

the initial dream sequence ft acheron with her being weird. the seemingly eternal hallways, contorting in physic-defying ways were a personal favorite. it reminds me how in dreams, there isn't always an outright threat, yet uneasiness persists. what's familiar warps into something indifferent and unknowable. very neat. then the shot of her crying blood after cutting down the trailblazer... very iconic of her.

mr aventurine. what was he about to do to the trailblazer?? why must they have stopped him?? let him cook. i was game for anything. zero fear, zero hesitation. he's an interesting player. neoliberal girlboss topaz had some workable parameters, aventurine is a total wildcard. his ambitions are murky at best. i kinda wonder if he might stick it to the IPC by purposefully flunking his assignment, it'd make for great revenge.

sparkle is unapologetically awful which makes her fun. her cosplaying as sunday's recently deceased sister was so appalling that i actually stopped for a moment when i pieced together what was going on. i've always found aha and their absurdist philosophy one of the most interesting among the aeons. it seems like there's a real emphasis on characters that embody their aeon's ideals (black swan + fuli, sparkle + aha, sunday/robin + xipe, etc). i hope they lean into it more.

SAM.................................................. his encounter betrayed my expectations in the best way possible. i have so many questions about his involvement and motivations. the music for his fight had my heartrate ascending. i play with japanese voices so i'm not sure if it's limited to the JP dub, but i was surprised by how polite he speaks?? even as he's about to immolate the trailblazer + her two accompanying girlfriends. it wasn't the cadence i envisioned for him. the stellaron hunters never fail to capture my interest, wtf are they Doing........

Summertime Odyssey Event headcanons 1

AN: it's very hard to keep up with haiku syllables in English but I'm trying my best to modify my orginal poetry.

You didn't quite know what adventure awaited you when you agreed to go with Lumine and four new friends to a mysterious island...

Kaedehara Kazuha

✧ As an old Angel's Share regular, you met Kazuha a day earlier than the rest of the group. He can't handle alcohol well. Unfortunately for him, he met you and Venti. While the two of you were barely drunk, he was already falling asleep on his stool. You decided to help him. You didn't know where to take him, so you stayed with him. His surprise in the morning was huge...

✧ He purposely didn't suggest you explore the island with him and Lumine right after you arrived. He felt trouble in the wind. He wanted to spare you pain so that you could have a nice rest. And yet, you pushed yourself in, curious as to where they were going. He just smiled, not wanting to refuse you. He promised nothing would happen to you.

✧ He taught you to play the leaf. You've never heard of it before. You were impressed that even that was able to make an instrument. You can't wait to show this trick to Venti.

✧ You have no vision, so he kept you very close. He saved your life when one of the Hilichurls, lurking on the small islands, unexpectedly released an arrow in your direction. You fell on the boat in a rather awkward position. He seemed calm as you lay over him. You, on the other hand, turned red in the face and Paimon laughed about it the rest of the way. If only you knew what was going on in Kazuha's head:

✧ You didn't want to believe her when she said she could tell the future. At the beginning of the journey, you did not manage to get along with each other at all. When you finally said you'd believe when you saw the miracles work, it turned out that your future couldn't be seen. You burst out laughing.

✧ She gave you a kiss on the cheek when you helped her deal with Fischl. Sometimes she really couldn't stand her and would look for you just so the girl would leave her alone. After a while, she realized that she actually wanted to be with you, not just because of the annoying princess.

✧ She patiently explained to you the types of constellations in her mirage. Without her, you would surely get lost in this great place. You completely forgot most of the layouts but she doesn't need to know that...

✧ You took her hat to see how you look in it. As you looked at yourself in it, in the water, she splashed it in your face. You hit her back. A water battle has broken out in which you have failed miserably. You were both soaked to the bone.

Xinyan

✧ Your favorite activity in the islands was cooking. You were a very good team preparing the delicacies. During one of the group's meals, you deliberately over-salted it to see if your companions would react. Only Lumine and Kazuha were silent. The rest almost murdered you. Especially Paimon.

✧ You have been basking in the sun for a very long time. Xinyan has quite a dark complexion but she gladly accepted the sunscreen you had in your bag. They cannot be purchased at Liyue, much to her sadness. You, on the other hand, coming from Sumer, would not have made it without him in the desert.

✧ You were very impressed with how she was able to respond to her family's annoyances without hurting them. You've never been braver than her to follow your dreams alone as an artist in a land of scholars. She was the first person to understand how you felt and you were grateful for that.

✧ You promised to take her on a trip to your country when you return from the islands. She can't wait to spend more time with you. She will definitely take her guitar with her to sing to you along the way.

Fischl

✧ If there was a person you had a hard time getting along with at first, it was Fischl. However, once your bard abilities came into play, things became simpler. Fischl expected flowery words and you delivered them. She hailed you as the Smartest, Able to break through mundane life and a Brightly enlightened singer with skillful fingers. You helped the group throughout the trip, otherwise they would have had a hard time with her.

✧ Oz blurted out that his mistress has a special crush on you. Of course, she denied it and confirmed it at the same time. All in the most roundabout way possible.

✧ You cheered her on to face her dark side. You were relieved when her mirage case was finally resolved because you were genuinely worried about her. When you complimented her new outfit, she forgot for a moment and thanked you in simple words.

✧ Afterwards, you tried to ask her about her parents and real name but she's not going to talk about it again. You respected it. She asked you to play her a love ballad by the fire, which you gladly did.

Just watched the gameplay trailer and...

Well, it's a lot like Path to Nowhere. Can't say I'm surprised, considering the unit placement and map layouts from all the trailers we've seen.

(More under the cut because we all know I'm the bitch who's more interested in the gameplay compared to other things-)

Some corrections regarding the symbols:

Angel wings are enemies remaining, paw prints are movement opportunities remaining.

Whatever that last icon is, it's supposed to be is your HP.

Two tilesets is real, but it's only used to indicate pathing.

There doesn't seem to be a distinction between low ground and high ground tiles - it's just the lighter tiles are the enemy paths, and you place units on lighter tiles if you want to block enemies.

The limits of the battlefield are the black picket fences along the edges!

But holy shit some of these abilities sound so fucking broken on paper, but the applications...

Marbas's skill, if handled properly, can act like Bard Supporters in Arknights. However, the healing seems to be very limited, at 1 HP per tick? How would it scale based on skill level and stats? Is 1 HP a lot for friendlies? At least it seems to be an infinite duration skill, so...

Paimon's slow is manual targeting. Personally I'm not a fan, or maybe it's because I think in the realm of tower defense, Suzuran is a slower done right. Or Snow Peas. These sorts of units, in essence, slow enemies down so our units can burst them down easily. Which might be uh...let's just say, underutilized based on the DPS options we have down the line.

At this point, Paimon seems to play a lot like May, and even then May is more effective in slowing down enemies with her first skill.

Anyways, what in the fuck is going on here?

That 'Miss' in blue text. Is that a damage instance miss, an ailment miss, or something else? If it's a damage instance miss (which is what I think it is) then mygod I think I'm actually going to rage while playing this game. That is, unless it's due to a unit's passive - then for my own sanity I won't be using them, ever. Because hey, fellow Arknights players, remember these fuckers?

Yeah. Silence and freeze came in clutch, honestly. There's a reason why a lot of players would rather not deal with dodge enemies and just want to nuke them out of existence with true damage and status effects. Though to be fair it's the Nethersea Brand that makes Stultifera Navis a hard event/Intermezzi...

ANYWAYS! The next skill I'll be looking at is Eligos's skill.

That's a unique skill, honestly! Mechanically, it's most similar to Mlynar's second talent, which gives him innate Taunt (makes enemy ranged attacks target him when he's in their range) - except Mlynar is Broken Like That and has damage reflect while maintaining that the Talent is always active, all with respectable defenses and a sizable HP pool. Like Mlynar, depending on how much damage the enemy does on average and how strong Eligos's shield is, the skill can easily turn into a double-edged sword, however - in a much more dangerous way compared to Mlynar.

Think of it this way. It doesn't seem like WHB has a redeployment mechanic, as a similar "style" of tower defense with Path to Nowhere. Which means, if an ally is dead, then they stay dead for the entirety of the stage.

Compare that with Arknights, which allows retreating and redeployment.

Losing Texas the Omertosa on the battlefield wouldn't matter as much as losing Eligos, because I know I can still use Texas down the line. Plus, the Executor subclass is built around redeployment, making that mechanic necessary to use her properly. Same thing with me retreating Chen - her positioning wasn't the most optimal after clearing the treasure chest, and if the stage went on any longer I'd redeploy her in a more strategic position/direction. But I know this stage's mobs aren't particularly tanky, and Mountain with Sweeping Stance (S2) would be more than enough to hold that lane, with his 2-block + DPS + self-sustain.

These are the words of a chronic IS player.

Meanwhile, if I lost Eligos, then I'd lose a valuable blocker unit. He's a defender in WHB, and he definitely has more tanking capabilities. But that means you'll have to consider adding either a healer to keep him healed up or more DPS to kill off enemies before you lose said defender to continuous attacks.

The final three skills shown in the trailer all fall under the same category: burst damage over an area.

This is where I can say slowers might eventually be underutilized in WHB on launch. They work the best with consistent, large damage sources over a period of time. What do I mean by that? Well, let's take a look at Suzuran - specifically, her second passive.

Suzuran, in my opinion, reflects the most effective way a slower is used in tower defense. Not only does she slow enemies down, she inflicts them with a debuff that makes them take more damage (Fragile). This effect is doubled with her third skill Foxfire Haze, where she stops attacking - but her slow turns into an area of effect deal, heals allies, and has an increased range. She is oftentimes used in conjunction with damage dealers and an extra debuffer (optional, but typically Saria S3) with steady burst damage over a set period of time - SilverAsh, Surtr, Mlynar, Eyjafjalla, Mostima, and Exusiai, just to name a few.

Granted, she is a 6* unit (L rarity in WHB terms would likely be the closest approximation), but even then other Decel Binders (slowers like Suzuran) without the debuff application still has the 80% Slow on all enemies they attack, and has ways to increase their slowing and damage capabilities.

It's hard to see with how the battle is presented, but if Paimon's slow is only on skill proc, then him in conjunction with these DPS options would be the equivalent of using Decel Binders with Chiave/Pinecone - which isn't bad per se (unless you managed to stack charges - then it becomes good) but less effective compared to using, say, Pozëmka/Schwarz. And let's not forget that some of these characters have huge attack ranges (Satan and Gabriel specifically) - making the entire point of slowers more or less moot.

Also, it would seem that skills may inflict status ailments! Stun seems to work like in Arknights (enemy stops attacking and moving for a set period of time), but Bleed I will assume is a damage over time deal. Kinda like Blue Poison and Thorns's passives.

The final and arguably biggest gripe I have with what I see in the trailer, though?

Little to no potential for AFK gaming- //SHOT

Hello! Hi! I am Xianhua and I am talking about the heavenly impact today.

THI is a “fix it” type Alternate Universe Fan fiction comic project I will be creating upon getting Dr hamada chapter one completed. The idea is to explore poorly explained elements and add in the characters that were not part of the main story. There will be Animated parts that will be voiced via AI because I can’t afford the genshin voice actors. I will write a version without shippings first and then with my shippings because I believe there is room for this.

Aether is the main protagonist and wakes up in an unknown world after Lumine (his twin sister) gets stabbed and kidnapped by “the sustainer of heavenly Principals”. One day while Aether is fishing for food on a beach, he pulls out a Fairy like child from the waters. She thanks him, and upon getting information about his journey, she offers to be his travel guide. He then asks if Paimon knows anything about the unknown god, to which she explains that she doesn’t remember anything about the world past getting saved by Aether, but she has a vague memory of the elements, the layout of teyvat, and that there are 7 gods called archons. She then offers to take traveler to meet these gods to get information about his sister and the god that almost killed her.

It’s pretty similar to the original game, right? Besides Paimon having amnesia from drowning, which is my explanation of why she doesn’t know more. That is where most of the similarities end, but you guys don’t get to know what happens next, yet. I have a comic to make.

OnS Chapter 128

My mouse needing replacement I still haven't gotten (I still don't have the money for it at the moment) makes taking screenshots difficult and then tumblr making an annoying "twitter-fied" update made me lose motivation to read this chapter cause I like blogging what I read especially this series. I love this series too much to not yell it out in the void that is tumblr lol.

I used some extensions recommended by other users so that the tumblr layout would be the same as before so I'm sort of okay but I'm still sad the post boxes are a bit thinner than they used to be. I'm struggling a bit with the mouse but it's fine. So yeah, this is late lol

The aftermath of last chapter's tragic events.

Bael comes into the room and sees Paimon dead and angel Mikaela's corpse being cradled by the king. Bael wonders if Paimon killed himself because if he did, that is considered a sin by God which meant Paimon's soul probably would get punished (not sure if it's going to hell or anything cause Shika Madu cut him off before he could finish the sentence).

Bael tried to be supportive and tells Shika Madu this event is just another trial and things could still go well but Shika Madu is having none of it.

Shika Madu just feels tired, helpless, and terrible and he doesn't want to accept the current situation. Their goal has always been to go back to Paradise where God is but Shika Madu is now questioning that goal as the road to it is filled with nothing but pain.

And he just had to find out at that moment that even Bael is sick. bael apologizes cause he knows he won't be around for long enough to help his king.

Bael still tries to be encouraging and tells his king to keep moving forward to Paradise, even if he'd end up going alone. Shika Madu is frustrated at the unfairness of it all.

And Bael tells him he'd be staying behind with Paimon. He also explains that unlike Paimon, he had no expectations. He's not doing all this because he wants the King to fulfil some kind of goal nor did he want to go to Pradise and see God. When Shika Madu asked what Bael wanted, Bael looks at the dead Paimon and answers that whatever it was, he'd no longer be able to get it now. So now all Bael could do is whatever would be asked of him and if Shika Madu wants to start a resistance, he'd be of help if told to.

Bael then takes Paimon's corpse with him and leaves Shika Madu with angel Mikaela's corpse. Now alone (well, technically he can't see Yuu-chan and Mika there), he is left to conteplate on what he should do next and all he knows is that he's at a loss.

Next we see of Shika Madu, he's at a graveyard. Bael had also killed himself so he would be with Paimon in death. Even their graves are shown to be right next to one another's which is pretty sweet considering how close they were.

Their long time goal has finally been met but Shika Madu wonders what the point is now that they've lost so many people in the way. After asking that question, Amon looks to his side and we are shown Belial's grave.

Astaroth answers that there's a reason: to be the first to get to Paradise for the sake of everyone that have passed away. Shika Madu agrees and tells everyone to get ready and tell the others that they'd finally leave the next day.

Shika Madu researches and we get a bit of explanation: the light they've been collecting all this time is power that God had created and it's what they needed to return home. It could also make miracles happen but the angels can't use it this way and if they did anything taboo, they get punished and the worst sins all involve life and death.

But he found some kind of loophole via doing experiments - one of which is how angel Mikaela was created.

He places angel Mikaela in a coffin and asks God if this was his punishment.

God gave him no answer so he just thought of one on his own: commit more taboos using the light they were able to collect. He'd first resurrect angel Mikaela then everyone else as he refused to leave anyone behind.

Homonculus Yuu is okay! And he's got his orders to convert all the light they collected within Babel into darkness. As homonculus Yuu does his job, Shika Madu waits for anything at all to happen whether he be punished or something stops them but nothing does.

And then they appear. It also seems they might have destroyed homonculus Yuu.

Okay... I guess we're finally getting to the scene where Shika Madu gets punished and the appearance of the seraphs. I feel bad for him cause yeah, what happened isn't fair. Um... can't really tell me not to ship Bael/Paimon after this chapter lol. I wonder what it was that Bael wanted had Paimon not died? Bael is pretty contradictory in a way, I think as he's telling Shika Madu he'd support whatever the latter wants to do while trying to convince him to go through with going to paradise as it was what they (especially Paimon) would've wanted) but then dying after. Bael's death though helped in making Shika Madu find his own choice more acceptable though as Bael's death just added to the pile of people Shika Madu lost.

Shika Madu has proven he cares about his comrades and the rest of his subjects as he's willing to push the limit of what he's allowed to do but he doesn't seem to feel the same way about their current incarnations. My guess back then and even now is that they probably aren't completely the same as what they're used to be and so he doesn't consider them the same person. It's the same with his son Mikaela. If just reviving Mikaela was the goal then he'd have already succeeded as Mika is alive (well, he's currently a demon but still). But he still wants to revive the real angel Mikaela - the one with the memories and the person he spent his time with as family. It's not perfect unless they're the exact same people he's lost.

One of the themes of this entire series from the start is "family". Yuu had to learn and accept he had one in the Hyakuya orphans after his traumatic experience with his real parents and later he had to learn to accept the rest of the Shinoa squad as his new family after he lost the other orphans. Guren also lost his friends who were as important as family to him. Ashera wanted to get reunited with his sister and later, said sister wants to see him again when they got separated. Now they reveal Shika Madu losing what's basically his entire family is what started all this.

This manga felt like a roller coaster and so many things happened and not gonna lie, I'm still not sure the author knows exactly where all this is going but he seems adamant that this story will be about family. I think that's amazing lol.
