Aurium kicked his legs, bumping his heels against the garden wall.
He checked his phone again. 7:44pm.
A cold breeze picked up, biting a little against his skin. A couple wandered up the street to the bus stop and checked the timetable. The young lady gave Aurium a nervous little smile and he gave her a warm one back before checking his phone again. 7:45pm.
Peering down the street, he could see a few people were walking around, most on their way out for a meal, the occasional businessman who had worked late. But the streets were far from crowded in this area of the city.
Aurium’s attention was drawn back to the road at the sound of the bus pulling into the stop. The couple climbed on, the beeps of their rider cards ringing out as Aurium made eye contact with the bus driver, though he quickly averted his eyes again.
There was a brief pause before the bus pulled out onto the road again, red lights briefly bathing Aurium before they disappeared over the hill.
He fiddled with his phone. Maybe he should send him a message? But he was probably just caught up with something. He didn’t doubt he was on his way. Not really.
Aurium pulled one leg up to his chest, resting his chin on his knee, fiddling with his phone.
[At the bus stop :))]
Erase.
[Are you okay?]
Erase.
[You still want to meet up today?]
He sighed and erased it. Tucking his phone away again, only to bring it out a moment later to check the time again. 8:52pm.
He peered down the street again. This time he caught sight of the familiar figure hurrying in his direction. He released a breath he hadn’t realised he was holding. Good, he was coming.
As the other man crossed the street, Aurium started to swing his legs again.
Luric looked up, his eyes meeting Aurium’s, and he slowed his pace ever so slightly. Aurium hummed to himself in amusement. In a few more moments, the other man was standing in front of him.
“You missed the bus~”
“… Sorry.”
“There will be another soon.”
Aurium watched Luric sit beside him before he scooched in closer to lean against his arm.
“Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, just got caught in a conversation.”
Aurium quietly chuckled.
“I’m always saying, your chatty nature will get you in trouble.”
Luric let out a little amused exhale, shifting slightly. A hand pressed against Aurium’s side, giving him a little squeeze.
“I was starting to worry though, you should send a message next time.”
“… I’ll try to remember.”
“Do you know what movie you want to see?”
“There are a couple I’ve wanted to see.”
“We’ll have to see which one lines up with when we arrive~”
Luric hummed his approval.
“Have you eaten yet? Should we get something to eat on the way.”
“I’m alright. You?”
“I’m ready to fill up on snacks~”
The hand at his side gave him another squeeze. Aurium fiddled with his phone again, pulling up a picture on his phone.
“I went to the pet store on the way here to get treats for Tilly, and they had a bunch of cute birds~ But this budgie reminds me of you.”
Luric peered at the phone, then let out an amused exhale. “… really?”
Aurium chuckled, flicking through a few more pictures before tucking his phone away again, looking over at Luric.
“You’re cuter though.”
Luric looked away, awkward now. “… you’re cuter.”
Aurium let out a quiet, pleased chuckle, leaning up to kiss Luric on the cheek. As he moved back, the other man turned to give him a kiss, gentle and tender, before looking away to the side again.
Aurium hummed to himself, leaning back against Luric, pleased.
