The Return of the Light ~ Days get gradually longer after yule
Yuletide is upon us in Georgia and I'd like to wish every Pagan, witch, wiccan etc a blessed yuletide and whatever it is or how you believe your solstice is bright, warm and merry. If you have altars and decorations for all to see, send them as a submission or ask here to our blog and we will post them through Jan 2024!

One of the biggest meteor showers of the year happens this month! Followed by the Winter Solstice, known as Yule in folklore, December ends with two beautiful astrophotography opportunities.
The Geminid Meteor Shower peaks on December 14th, and is one of the best displays of shooting stars all year. Over 120 meteors will streak across the sky per hour. The Moon will almost be to Third Quarter, which may impact how many will be visible. Learn more about its viewing prospects at WildHemlock.Com ->
On December 21st, the Sun dips down to the lowest point below the Celestial Equator, known as the Tropic of Capricorn, marking the shortest day and Longest Night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Thus begins Winter, and as the Sun slowly marches northward along its Ecliptic Path, the days grow longer and steal more time from the night. Also known as Midwinter and Yule, the Winter Solstice has been celebrated by many cultures for thousands of years. Yule was celebrated as a returning or rebirth of the Sun. Many Celtic and Norse traditions survive today as Christmas celebrations, such as the yule log and yule boar (the Christmas Ham). The giving of presents is believed to come from the Ancient Greece holiday Saturnalia. Many, if not all, ancient peoples celebrated or marked the winter solstice as a sign that spring will return soon.

Sigils in presents
Wrapping Christmas presents? Draw sigils inside the wrapping paper to manifest something for that person (health, finances, friendship longevity, etc.) or something for the gift (happiness, self-acceptance, etc.)
Getting someone a stuffed animal? Write them a sigil for sweet dreams. Got someone a Bath and Body Works gift set? Write them a sigil for self-love. Swiss army knife? Protection! Friendship bracelets? Faithful and trusting relationships.
There are lots of sigils you can make for them, get creative!

Christmas cookie recipe test #2!
Chewy Lemon Sugar Cookies
Recipe calls for you to use a small scoop and I only have a large food service sized one (thanks p@nera) so I made little balls by hand. They still tasted good but they didn't flatten out that much so on the next batch i smushed them down and they came out the perfect size and height.
you're also supposed to roll them in granulated sugar but i think next time i'm going to try a sanding sugar or a more granulated sugar because i think more of a crunch would be good.
plus my grandma liked them.

As we pass through Thanksgiving, I begin to be drawn into the Season of Yule--Winter Solstice--Christmas. By next week I will be preparing for my journey, this year, through the Thirteen Dayes of Yule; a fictional calendar I have created over the last 40 years for experiencing the poetics, myths and mysticism of the Winter Solstice Season. This book presents one version of the Thirteen Dayes through three ecumenical Pagans.
