MANILA, Philippines – Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo has been arrested in the Greater Jakarta metropolitan area of Indonesia, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Wednesday, September 4.

NBI Director Jimmy Santiago confirmed to Rappler that Guo is now under the custody of Indonesian authorities.

Guo was apprehended at 11:58 pm in Tangerang City, part of the Greater Jakarta area, also known as Jabodetabek, on September 3, Tuesday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said.

“This development has been verified by our counterparts in Immigration, who confirmed that Guo is currently under the custody of the Indonesian Police at Jatanras Mabes Polri,” said DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano.

“Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco is currently coordinating with the Indonesian immigration authorities for her possible return to the Philippines at the soonest possible time,” said Gilbert Cruz, chief of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).

“Kung makuha namin sila, matapos ang BI, matapos sa amin, we will immediately turn her over to the Senate,” said Santiago who added the implementation of the plans would still have to depend on the weather.

(If we get her, after the Bureau of Immigration, after us, we will immediately turn her over to the Senate)

There are currently no court-issued warrants of arrest out for Guo, just a warrant from the Senate based on contempt. It is likely that Indonesian immigration authorities apprehended Guo for immigration violations, or offenses related to disobedience or obstruction of justice, like what happened to her sister Shiela Guo, and the family’s alleged close confidante Cassandra Ong.

There are no exact details as of writing when Guo can be brought to the Philippines. Senator Risa Hontiveros said the Senate wants Guo present in their hearing on Thursday afternoon, September 5.

“I’m really hoping makaharap na siya bukas. So, tinatarget namin (I’m really hoping she can appear tomorrow. So that’s what we’re targeting). But we can only target so much,” she said.

Hontiveros said the Senate inquiry may be able to wrap up in four more hearings, but they’re aiming to establish a “bigger fish.”

“Maaaring hindi siya yung pinakamataas pa. Maaaring hindi pa siya yung pinakamalaking isda dito. At yun yung gustong tumbukin ng Committee on Women bilang bahagi ng pag-wrap-up ng kabuuang apat na taon nang imbestigasyon laban sa POGOs,” said Hontiveros.

Guo deported today, says Marcos

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the Indonesian government has been on top of the Guo situation ever since Shiela Guo and Ong were arrested on August 22.

“We’re thinking of sending our prosecutors there [Indonesia],” said Remulla, adding that Guo is undergoing tactical interrogation in Indonesia.

Senior NBI operatives will definitely be sent there too, Remulla said.

Guo can be returned to the Philippines within the day, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. told reporters. “(The timing) depends on the police investigation results,” Jakarta’s law minister, Supratman Andi Agtas, told Reuters.

Because she was arrested without a warrant, Guo will be subjected to an inquest proceeding to give the Philippine government basis to hold her in custody. Her lawyers will likely invoke her rights against custodial investigation, which requires that she be charged within 36 hours, otherwise the continued detention can be invalidated.

Remulla shrugged these off, saying that Guo’s legal situation is “very complicated” as she faces multiple investigations in the legislative, executive, judiciary, “even in constitutional commissions,” referring to the Commission on Elections.

“Kaya kung merong abugadong magmamarunong diyan, marami silang sasabihin. Pero sasabihin nating hindi tama ang naging diskarte ni Alice Guo sa buhay niya, unang una, yung passport niya may problema tayo diyan, hindi lang natin kina-cancel kasi hindi kailangan pa,” said Remulla.

(So any lawyer who would act smart, and say many things, I will say that Alice Guo miscalculated her moves. First of all, her passport has problems, although we are not canceling it.)

Alice Guo faces two complaints at the Department of Justice (DOJ), one for qualified human trafficking, and another for money laundering, both related to her incorporation of a leasing company called Baofu. Evidence submitted by several agencies to the DOJ claim Guo never divested from Baofu, and that the company was a front for the illegal activities of Hong Sheng/Zun Yuan, the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) that leased it.

Guo, at least according to her sister Shiela, fled the Philippines by boat around July 14, and reached Sabah, Malaysia on July 18. Several authorities have expressed doubt about the veracity of Shiela Guo’s testimony.

Hi OP. Mahirap magdoktor pero depende sa "why" mo, magiging worth it naman in the end. Marami lang talagang kailangan iconsider.

"Kaso nga lang, 74 lang ang Percentile Rank ko."

Ok lang yang 74. Wala namang ambag ang nmat sa kung magiging magaling na doktor ka. Role lang nito ay makapasok ka sa med school. If you want a higher score, prepare then iretake mo na lang.

"Gusto ko talaga maging doktor kaya lang pangalawa ako sa anim na magkakapatid."

Magastos talaga ang magdoktor, financially and emotionally. May scholarships dito or kung sa UP (free tuition + stipend) or PLM (free rin yata if taga-maynila, not sure na) ka, less ang gagastusin. Sorry, 'yung outside manila, wala akong say.

"Naiisip ko na 'yung limang taon kong pag-aaral sa pagdodoktor ay parang malayo na rin mararating ko as a MedTech."

May be true. Baka nasa Canada ka na no'n or some first-world country.

"Ang dami kong concerns about sa career path ko kaya lang wala akong mapagtanungan."

MD na ako ngayon pero I still think about being an RMT para makapag-abroad. Not necessarily para yun ang ipractice for life. In demand ang doctors everywhere pero andaming barriers pag galing ka sa 3rd world country. Pero di naman imposibleng patunayan na ka-level natin yung mga nasa magagandang bansa.

Wish ko rin na I knew better bago ako pumasok dito, pero okay na rin, wala akong analysis paralysis since wala ngang nakakaalam. Hindi rin ako magaling sumagap ng info back then sa upperclassmen or kung sinuman. Nag-struggle ako kasi "ano ba 'tong ginagawa ko" feels pero may classmates ka namang maghihirap din kaya you're not alone. May vlogs din sa youtube saka mga forum. Syempre iba pa rin pag nandu'n ka na, no amount of reading or asking can prepare you, pero hindi ka nag-iisa.

"Enough po ba ang sweldo ng mga doctors? I heard po kasi na hindi rin sila nababayaran nang tama."

Depende kung ano ang enough for you. Napaka-varied kasi ng sahod since andami ring role ng mga doktor. If you're thinking of residency, sa government hospitals SG 21 sila, check mo na lang magkano 'yon. Private naman, nasa 30-50k. 30k madalas. Working hours? 80-100 hours a week, no joke (unless derma kukunin mo, char). In general, poor ang work-life boundaries habang nasa training. Pag hindi ka naman trainee, meaning GP ka or consultant na, ikaw bahala sa buhay mo. Basta keep in mind na hindi ito same sa traditional corporate path na magsisimula ka somewhere then pag lumipat ka sa ibang company after 2 yrs may career growth.

"Okay naman po ba ang work-life balance ng mga doctors? Napapanood ko kasi na 36 hours straight kung magduty mga doktor tapos lagi pa naman akong tulog 😂"

- During training, hindi. Gaya ng sabi ng mga nakasama ko sa isang ospital, "work" lang, walang work-life balance. Pero other than that pwede ka rin kasing magwork sa DOH, offices, maging company doctor, magtayo ng sarili mong practice, etc. Mahirap mag-generalize. If DOH or offices, M-F 8-5 'yun usually. Usually lang ha.

"Ako rin po magpapaaral sa iba kong mga kapatid dahil matanda na tatay ko tapos 'yung kuya ko naman may pamilya na. Hindi yata talaga ideal 'yung pagiging doktor sa akin."

Matagal ang ROI. Siguro i-set mo nang 10-15 years pa from day 1 ng med school. Marami ring factors involved like may business 'yung ibang med student or may mamanahing practice sa magulang, pero for first gens na starting from scratch, matagal ang ROI. Well let's say na magmo-moonlighting ka after graduation, ok naman ang kita. Or kung magd-dttb ka, malaki sahod nu'n.

"Litong lito na ako anong path ba talaga dapat para sa akin. Nakakatakot magdesisyon lalo na kung walang naggaguide sayo."

Take it slow. I also didn't have that privilege. Pero wala namang perfectly right or wrong answers sa life. Go with what you will least regret. When I was a student, I hated my life a lot, like bakit pa ako nagdoktor, ganito naman pala (pangit ang sistema, ang mean ng other hcw, mahirap, hindi ideal, walang makaintindi sa sitwasyon ko since walang ibang doktor o nasa healthcare field sa pamilya, etc.). Ngayong tapos na ako, I'm happy na kinaya ko. Of course I didn't make it on my own.

Sa mga may tanong, go lang. Basta, isang tao at isang perspective lang ako (n=1), don't blame me later for anything! Best of luck~

ang tanga ko dahil nagsstay ako sa lugar na hindi ako masaya.. pero kaya ko naman mag tiis e.. dalawang taon na lang naman, siguro after 2 years maganda ganda na sahod ko.. ayoko kasi dumepende sa ibang tao.. gusto ko lahat pinaghihirapan ko. yung tipong pagdadaanan ko muna yung hirap para pag natikman ko na yung sarap, masasabi ko sa sarili ko na pinaghirapan ko to..

naiinis ako sa mga tao na nagsasabi sakin, ang tanga mo sinasayang mo oras mo diyan, edi kung nagtrabaho ka sa ganitong lugar edi ang dami mo na sanang ipon. o eh bakit di ikaw ang gumawa? bibilib pa ko kung nasa point na kong kinaiinggitan na kita dahil ang layo na ng narating mo. kaso wala eh. pano ako mamomotivate niyan??

ngayon naiisip ko, nung bata ako, pinilit ako mag take ng nursing ng mama ko, pero sabi niya ako daw may gusto non noon. hahaha so nag take ako siguro nga gusto ko yun nung time na yon kasi lahat ng classmates ko nung highschoo eh puro nursing. nakakatawa nga eh kasi sabay sa uso lang ako.. HAHAA nag take sila ng upcat pero ako pinagttake kaso di ko naman alam yun. HAHAHA! hndi ako nagtake kasi alam kong di ko kaya HAHAHA pang matalino lang yun HAHAHA

nagtake ako exam sa CEU at sa UST.. ayon. awa ng Diyos sa dami ng choices ko ng courses wala kahit isa pumasa HAHAHAHA and ending, dun ako nag aral sa school na gusto ni mama sa BGC hahaha yun ang unang nursing school sa BGC as far as i know.. hahaha kasi naalala ko nun wala pang mga malls dun, as in talahib pa lang ang kapaligiran at buhangin.. ganorn. so, nung time na yun nagkaron ako ng classmates na mayayaman.. taena bigtime tlga! HAHAHA tuwang tuwa ako kaya sabi ko sige enjoy ko nalang.. :D :D

tapos may mga times na tlgang nag aaral ako, nakapag disect pa nga ako ng palaka non. HAHA may mga subjects na napasa ko at halos lahat dun ay minor subjects HAHAHAHAHA nakakkatawa taena.

so ayun. kinuha ko nursing nag aral ako sa magandang school, tapos.. di ko kayang sabayan yung mga tao dun.. kasi alam nyo ba magkano lang baon ko non?? 100.. HAHAHA though grateful naman akong may baon akong 100.. pero di siya sapat para sakin.. kasi ang layo ng school ko.. ilang sakay, papunta pabalik.. tapos nakakahiya man aminin pero ang binibili ko sa school non, kanin lang tapos yung sabaw dinadamihan ko kasi libre.. HAHAHA :D :P pero masaya.. :D :D pag naalala ko..

so eto nga yung school ko, Global City Innovative College, parang isang sem lang yata ako nag aral dun haha.. kasi pag nstp day pucha mas nagstruggle ako kasi sa bgc pag sunday yata yun, walang shuttle so obligado ako magtaxi. eh pota. 100 lang pera ko nun. HAHAHA nahirapan ako talaga.. kaya sabi ko sa mama ko lipat na ko school yung malapit para di ako mahirapan atleast maubos pera ko pwede ko lakarin dun kasi sa bgc di pwede eh. tangina mag aalay lakad ka talaga sa layo. HAHAHA..

so lumipat na ko ng mas malapit na school para talagang makapag focus ako. YESS FOCUS! kahit hindi. hahaha :D so eto na nga, dami kong back subjects na need ko itake sa bago kong school edi.. kinuha ko na para maging maayos na lahat.. eh kaso. HAHAHA dumating sa point na nagkaron ako ng mga classmates sa Chemistry class ko, sabi ko ang saya saya naman nila.. nasa 2nd year na ko nun nung nursing.. basta 2007 ako grumaduate ng highschool. HAAHAHA!!

so... nung naging classmate ko nga yung mga chemistry classmates ko, lagi ko winiwish na may chemistry class araw araw.. kasi ang saya saya talaga nila.. tapos may isa akong naging friend na sobrang nakakatuwa talaga siya.. natanong ko anong course nila, sabi niya HRM daw.. actually nung highschool i never thought of taking that course kasi nga mulat ako sa nursing course nun kasi mga brainy lahat ng classmates ko.. hahaha.. tapos, napaisip ako nung sinabi sakin na mag shift na lang ako ng HRM kasi masaya nga daw don..

kaya on the same day na narealize kong gusto ko pala talaga is hrm subject, nagsabi ako sa lola ko na magchange ako ng course.. tapos ayun!! pumayag kahit madaming tanong sakin.. HAHAHA

tapos ang daming subjects na di ko trip.. basta pero eto! 2013 ako natapos ng college. HAAAHA ang haba ng panahon ko sa college noh?? siguro kasi ganong katagal ko narealize na need ko makapagtapos, pero for the span of 6 years.. ang daming nangyare, nagstop ako mag-aral, nag working student ako, tapos.. nabuntis ako.. tapos.. buntis ako nung nagaaral ako, tapos.. nag stop ako nun kasi nanganak ako... pero pag balik ko, nagworking student pa din ako.. ang pinaka mahirap na part nung pa-graduate na ko, kasi di ko alam pano ko imamanage yung time ko na nagpapadede ako ng anak ko tapos nagwork ako ng gabi sa isang bar sa makati.. tapos gigising ako ng umaga para pumasok sa school. tapos, sa hapon.. nagppracticum ako para lang matapos ko yung oras na kailangan ko tapusin... nung time na yan, need ko na give up yung work ko kasi kailangan ko na talaga mag focus sa school kasi pagraduate na ko.. kaya ginive up ko na work ko..

so fast forward.. naka survive ako sa hirap na yan.. i graduated with a bachelors degree 2013! :D :D :) im so so happpy! sobra! :D day after ng graduation ko nag apply ako ng work sa Toyota which is hindi ko forte, ninong ko kc yung gm ng toyota pasong tamo that time.. and oh well! CHArizz.. :D :D de. sa totoo lang, di niya binack upan dun.. pinag take niya ko talaga ng exam.. and dumaan ako sa interview talaga.. then.. ayun! :D nakapasa ako sa work nakabenta din ako.. :) so in short meron din akong experience sa sales.. :D :)

then.. madaming nangyare sa buhay ko.. kulang pa nga to eh.. pero andito pa din ako.. lumalaban HAHAHA at umaasa na balang araw, pero Lord sana pag nag 40 po ako.. hindi na ko natingin sa price tag. alam kong kaya ko po ito... kayang kaya ko. :D :) wala po akong dadasalin kungdi palakasin niyo po ako.. kahit wala akong sakit. at kung meron man ayoko na malaman.. health ko lang po at health ng pamilya ko Lord. <3

I normally wake up around or past mid morning, but today I woke up really early. I made myself some hot dark cocoa and chatted with a friend who dropped by the cafe for breakfast.

After she left, I changed into my pink running shirt and pink windbreaker, put on my gloves and helmet, and rode out to join Leni's campaign rally in Silang, Cavite. This is the first time I ever joined a campaign rally because really, this the first time I ever wholeheartedly supported a candidate running for the highest position in the land.

Kahapon pa ako nakakabasa ng walang sense na posts about BBM pukingina. Gusto kong sumagot pero wala akong time and energy makipagtalo sa mga BBM supporters, isa pa sobrang lost cause nitong mga to waste of time and energy makipag-engage dahil anlala ng cognitive dissonance nila. Yung mga BBM mutuals ko pakitaas na lang nga ng mga kamay nyo at nang mai-unfollow ko kayo. Umay.

Grabe sobrang saya ko umuwi lang naman ako sa bahay para magdala ng maduming damit at kumuha ng bagong laba, tapos hinanap ko kung dumating na yung inorder kong tarps nila Leni at Kiko tapos na-convince ko na finally si Mama na iboto si Leni instead of BBM. Nag-pinky swear pa kami 🥺

As an Ilocana solid BBM talaga sila Mama at mga kapatid nya, pero winan-on-one talk ko sya kanina bakit si Leni ang dapat iboto. Ikinuwento ko sa kanya yung pinanggalingan ni Leni bilang public servant bago pa man sya pumasok sa mundo ng pulitika, yung pagiging maybahay nya kay Jesse Robredo, kung paano nila pinalaki yung mga anak nila, pati yung mga nagawa nya nung pumasok na sya sa pulitika. Sinikap ko na ipinta yung buong pagkatao ni Leni - mula sa pakikitungo at paglilingkod nya sa mga mahihirap, yung pagsakay nya sa bus pag umuuwi sa Naga, yung fact na never sya nagkamal ng pera at ari-arian nya sa buong panahon na humawak sya ng posisyon, yung mga batas na sinuportahan at ipinasa, yung COA rating nya, yung mga nagawa nya as VP despite yung pag-exclude sa kanya ni Duterte, yung mga nagawa nya during the pandemic, at yung mga magagawa pa nya pag sya na ang nasa posisyon.

Sinikap ko din ipaunawa what makes Bongbong the evil choice, hindi lang yung pagnanakaw ng pamilya nya at pagpatay sa libo-libong tao during martial law, kundi pati yung refusal ni BBM to own up to his family's sins and ibalik yung ill-gotten wealth nila, ganun din kung gaano ka-out of touch yung pamilya nya sa plight ng mga mahihirap.

Nakikinig lang si Mama habang nagpapaliwanag ako, at nung matapos ako tinanong ko sya kung iboboto nya na ba si Leni Robredo. Sabi ko di naman nya kailangan sabihin sa mga tita at tito ko, pero importante sa akin na si Leni ang iboto nya. Tapos sabi nya oo kasi naliwanagan daw sya sa mga sinabi ko sabay ngiti. My #1 post of 2022

Girls talking about their hobbies, passions, day jobs, fields of study / expertise: SO. DAMN. CUTE.

One of the reasons bakit mas tambay ako ng tumblr compared to other social networking platforms eh I love reading about my mutuals' posts about their endeavors - their triumphs and struggles both. I love seeing other people succeed, they inspire me to be better myself kahit na sa totoo lang napaka-mediocre at lazy ass kong tao. And when I see them having a hard time, I silently cheer for them and pray for them to get over their roadblocks.

I guess in a way nakaka-relate ako kasi sobrang roller coaster ng ride ko mula college days ko; until nag-stop ako sa school and nagkatrabaho; until nag-working student ako at naka-graduate, until nag-pandemic and nag-wfh ako, and eto nga nung nag-quit ako sa work and binuksan ko na tong cafe.

So to my tumblr mutuals: I want you to know that I see you, and I am rooting for all of you!

TGIF part 1/3

Friday na. I'm so looking forward to weekends. Finally, wala akong kailangang gawin pag weekends!

Sa Monday ko na ulit kailangan isipin 'yung work. Kahit hindi pa ina-approve ni manager 'yung request ko, okay lang. Bahala siya, problema na niya 'yun, and I trust na aasikasuhin naman niya 'yun in due time.

I have free time!!! To graduate is a big blessing talaga. Dati, lagi na lang may hindi nauubos na tasks and you're never free kahit weekends or holidays. Ngayon, wala. Walang requirement na naghihintay sa akin. As long as I do what I'm being paid to do, I'm good.

Regularization na lang ang hinahabol ko (and overemployment, pero now is not the time for that). Kahit anong gawin ko sa weekend, wala syang magiging epekto sa regularization. Hindi naman ito parang exam na kailangan ko paghandaan. Kahit mag-video games ako o magpunta sa Japan, walang may pake. I know ang obvious, pero this is so fun.

Traumatizing 'yung hospital life kung saan kailangan on your toes ka all the time, almost everyday. Makakareceive ka ng messages or email at 11pm or 1am or so na may kailangan kang gawin o ipasa by 5am or 10am, kaagad. Walang boundaries, and ineexpect ng mga kasama mo na alam mo na agad kung anong gagawin, eh every week or month or so, nare-reassign ka sa bagong unit. For context, our clerkship and internship (sa year lang naman namin ito, 'yung before namin and after eh hindi kagaya sa amin) ay half-and-half. So for the first 6 months ay nakapag-rotate na dapat lahat ng tao sa lahat ng department. May 12 departments na kailangan pagdaanan.

May quizzes and exams, lectures, presentation, at kung anu-ano pa 'yan bukod sa papasok ka, magkakausap ng pasyente, magbibigay ng gamot or maglilinis ng sugat or gagawin 'yung kung anuman ang dapat, irerecord lahat sa system, magfifill out ng forms, maghahawak ng retractor, may revalida habang tinatanggal ang namamagang gallbladder ng pasyente, etc.

Tawang-tawa nga ako sa mga discussion sa reddit. "Kailangan po ba talaga ang 36 hours na duty?"

Buhay ko na talaga noon araw-araw na mag-rant para makasurvive. Ranting is my coping mechanism. Pero ngayon, masaya na ako. Kaya ko palang sumaya (awow).

May free meals ako, may HMO, flexitime 'yung work, etc. and maybe basic lang ito sa iba pero I've never had these benefits before!!! Parang alila 'yung oakiramdam. 'Di ako in control of my life. Supposedly learning environment siya pero parang nandoon lang ako for the manpower.

Sa friends (and dito sa tumblr) lang naman ako nagrarant pero pag nagpunta ka sa reddit at binasa 'yung mga sinabi ng iba roon, pare-parehas lang one way or another 'yung mga isyu namin. And of course meron din 'yung general problems like katrabahong tamad or sobrang bibo or sipsip.

Idinidiin pa nga sa amin dati na it's a trap pag sinabing "uwi ka na." Tinetest ka lang daw kung dedicated ka. Ang tamang sagot daw ay mag-stay pa at tumulong sa mga gawain.

In case gusto mong sabihing "I'm outta here" and magwalk out, it doesn't work that way. We're graded on almost everything we do. If you want to finish, syempre kailangan mong pumasa. Worse, may magfifile ng incident report sa 'yo at hindi ka pa magkakagood moral certificate. Or masususpend ka. Or maeexpel. Or repeat rotation.

Main motivation ko dati na mag-Australia ay 8 hours lang daw ang shift or pasok ng doktor doon. Plus, well-compensated pa relative sa minimum wage nila roon. Ayon sa mga pinoy na nakalipat, wala raw ka-toxic-an doon. Too good to be true, 'di ba?

P.S. Friday ko talaga ito sinulat kaso naglaba pa kasi ako noong gabi, dahil gagala kami ngayon at mag-a-ATV sa Zambales. Kailangan matuyo na over the weekend 'yung mga nilabhan ko para bawas na sa gagawin pagbalik.
