The Benefits of Getting a Massage - It's Not Just a Luxury
When people speak of pampering, one thing immediately comes into mind: massage. A lot of people will be glad to know that having massage is not merely another luxury but something that also offers plenty of health benefits.
Relieves anxiety and depression
One of the advantages a massage can give is that it helps relieve anxiety and depression. While an expert masseuse can help relieve the body's aches and pains, getting a massage can also help reduce cortisol levels in the body. Cortisol is a hormone that is associated with stress and anxiety.
And speaking of stress and anxiety, these two factors are among the two major culprits for people who suffer from sleeping disorders. While many people become relaxed and doze off during a massage session, the effects of massage on sleeping can be felt once a person gets home. Some experts attribute this to the effect of a massage treatment on the delta waves that are associated with having a deep slumber.
Wards off many diseases
Experts have also found that having regular massage sessions can help the body ward off some diseases. This is because having a massage stimulates the body's immune system, with some studies revealing a boost in the white blood cells of those who get a massage.
Get a noticeable glow with improved hair growth
Apart from tired muscles, the face can also get benefit from having a massage. Getting a massage can give a person a noticeable glow as well as better hair growth and lustre. This can be attributed to the fact that a massage can improve blood flow, which, in turn, allows nutrients to be delivered more efficiently to the cells and tissues while relieving them of harmful toxins.
Gives multiple benefits to pregnant moms
Even women who are expecting a baby can enjoy numerous benefits from getting a specialised pregnancy massage. Soon-to-be moms can expect the reduction of swelling of the extremities, reduction of sciatic pain and relief from pain and discomfort, particularly in the lower back and neck region. In addition, mums can be assured that more nutrients and oxygen are delivered to the unborn child which comes as a result of the better blood flow.

Chiropractic Studies: Central Queensland University’s Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic)
If you are interested in focusing on a specific form of chiropractic - such as becoming a paediatric chiropractor - you will also need to continue your studies with such a focus in mind (usually through continued professional development courses). Be sure to do your research and understand your chiropractic study commitments before enrolling!
When it comes to studying chiropractic in Australia, there are only a few options available for you to choose from. The Australian government has approved only four chiropractic educational programs in Australia which students need to complete in order to become qualified and practising chiropractors.
One of these programs includes Central Queensland University’s Bachelor of Science (Chiropractor). Keep reading to find out more about this unique Bachelor’s degree and what you will learn during your studies at the university.
Entry Requirements
Before being able to enrol in Central Queensland University’s Bachelor of Science (Chiropractor), there are a few entry requirements you need to meet:
Willing and able to study on campus (Brisbane and Mackay)
Have a minimum SR or ATAR of 69
Proficient in English (Units 3 and 4, C)
Have a background in biology, chemistry or physics (recommended).
Once you have met these requirements, you can enrol in the course and start your journey towards becoming a chiropractor.
What will you learn?
During your chiropractic studies at Central Queensland University, you will develop clinical skills in chiropractic diagnosis and management of patients presenting for health care. Students will also learn the history, philosophy, theories and principles of chiropractic. The course will also teach students subjects just as nutrition and rehabilitation.
What will you do after?
Your chiropractic education does not end after completing a Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic). In Australia, you need to study relevant studies for five years full time before qualifying to register as a chiropractor.
Thus, after your three year Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic), you will also need to complete a Master of Chiropractic Science. Central Queensland University offers this two year postgraduate study and provides students with professional placement opportunities during their Masters program.
