is the Pacific tree frog leading the Yuma myotis, or is the Yuma myotis leading the Pacific tree frog?
no one knows for sure but they’re definitely on an adventure

I finally finished this piece of Sundew, one of my side protagonists! He’s a male pacific tree frog (pseudacris regilla) and happens to be the smallest of the bunch of characters I have. Although tiny, his personality definitely makes up for it. He’s spunky, humorous, sarcastic, and bold. If it were up to him, he wouldn’t hesitate to take on any threat that comes his way.

I spent part of yesterday helping a couple of friends with some much-needed yard work in preparation for spring. No, these aren't the friends in question--they're two frogs I ran across in the process! On the left is a northern red-legged frog (Rana aurora), while the green one on the right is a Pacific tree frog (Pseudacris regilla). Both are quite small, under two inches long.
I felt bad for disturbing them, but with temperatures in the fifties it was warm enough they could relocate themselves to someplace safe before nightfall. (The yard is full of all sorts of great little hidey-holes if you are a small critter.) And all the debris that was picked up just ended up in the compost heap, so any invertebrates hiding there would still be safe, since nothing gets bagged up or burned.
I want to say spring is here early, but we're getting a cold front moving in early next week, so it'll be time to batten everything down again. Still, we're due for much milder conditions than lots of other folks this time of year, so I'm not complaining.

The Pacific Tree Frog can change its color gradually from green to brown in order to better camouflage with seasonal foliage.

Got up this morning to find I had a visitor! This pacific tree frog apparently came to explore my tent, climbed up inside the rain fly, and was seeming a bit stuck up in a corner when I found it. The tent unfortunately turns into a solar oven in the daytime, so I relocated the intrepid explorer to a spot closer to the creek, with tall grass and some shade.

What got you interested in frogs?
I was growing carnivorous plants in a back yard micro nursery for sale in our local flower shops. Carnivorous plants were a love at first sight thing for me. I often found Pacific Tree Frog waiting for bugs in the traps of my Sarracenia plants, a type of pitcher plant. I began wondering if there was a casual symbiosis going on between the plant and the frog.
The plant calls the bugs, the frog increases the number of bugs caught and shares with the plant when it poops.
So here comes frog Friday and I have all these frog pictures on my drive with not a lot of reason for being there except that I like them and the rest you kind of know....
🥴
Thanks Anon 💞

Today's herp friend is the Pacific Tree Frog! I'm sticking with my rain loving theme even if the sun is out today. I find the more brown colouration of these guys particularly pretty.
This fine fellow found a home at Anime North, but if you'd like a Beast, please check out Bittythings and Beasts.
