“ cut it out, I’m trying to focus.” jiung whined pushing your hands out of his hair. “ what’s your issue?”

His issue? what’s his issue? you’ve been practically ignoring him all day seemingly too occupied by the super amazing and handsome Theo.

It was torture watching you two all day, talking, laughing, glued at the hips. Jiung was two more giggles away from jumping off the nearest cliff but, he wasn’t jealous you're his best friend after all it's normal for you both to hang out with other people. Or at least that’s what he’s been trying to convince himself.

“ I don’t have an issue I’m just trying to focus on the game… if you wanna talk to someone why not go to Theo since you seemed to enjoy being with him so much.” the boy scoffed fingers gliding naturally across his keyboard as he skillfully kills another player.

“What are you talking about– Hold on, are you jealous?” you smirk pulling his head back, forcing him to look up at you.

“ What’s there to be jealous of?” Jiung replied. “ Maybe you should ask yourself that.” you say wrapping your arms around his shoulders.

He did ask himself, and each time he'd get the same answer.

“ If you’re so sad about me spending time with Theo why don’t you ask me out so we can spend time together alone.” You state boldly.

Jiung freezes, the words “ game over.” flashing red on his screen as he slowly turns around to look at you. Not even acknowledging the loss of his kill streak.

He must’ve miss heard you.

“ W-what did you say?” Jiung asks

“ I said since you’re so bothered by me hanging out with Theo you should ask me out yourself.” you repeat using the hair tie on your writs to pull the male's hair into a ponytail before carefully pulling a few strands free to frame his face. All the while Jiung stared up at you seemingly lost in thought.

“ Your hair looks cute like this,” you say almost too normally for jiungs liking. Why were you acting so normal as if you didn’t just tell the boy to ask you out on a date?

“ Y/n ?”

“ Yes.���

“ Do you want to go on a date with me?” the boy asks voice cracking slightly from how nervous he was.

“ only been waiting years for you to ask.” you reply playfully rolling your eyes.

“ oh shut up.” Jiung says shoving your shoulder his cheeks red as a tomato as he turns back to his game ready to respawn.

“ Oh wait.” he says holding his hands out for you to grab which you do watching as he guides your hands back into his hair.

“ I want pigtails now.” He says before resuming his game.

“ You are something else.”

“ yeah, but you like it.”

“ yeah… I do.”

you always try to act like you’re not tired but if keeho asks you, you tell him the truth

if its an event he really really really wanted to attend you’ll both stay until he’s done but you can be assured he’ll pamper you later <3

“one more hour, okay? there’s still some people i wanted to talk to” he pouted slightly and you just nodded, sending him a lazy smile “i’ll grab you a drink, hm?”

you watched him have fun and that warmed your heart. he was all giddy and excited, you just didn’t have the gut to go home now.

once he was done and satisfied, he ordered an uber and wrapped an arm around you waiting for it to arrive. your eyes were half closed, nuzzling into him for assurance.

“i’m so proud, you know? thank you for holding on, i really appreciate it. love you” he hummed and placed a kiss on your forehead.

“anything for you. can you scratch my back when we go to sleep though?” you asked, raising your head up. keeho grinned with a nod.

intak bursted out laughing at a joke one of his friends cracked and with a corner of his eye he saw your bland reaction. it was a sign you’re out of your social battery; well, you started feeling exhausted earlier - you became non verbal a while ago and started fiddling with your purse.

one look it took for you two to communicate that you’re tired. you opened your lips to announce it but intak grabbed your hand under the table and let out a sudden, loud gasp that even startled you.

“ah, i forgot i have practice tomorrow. shit, we moved it and it totally slipped my mind… the joke about horse just reminded me… you know, keeho… well, whatever. we’ll keep going, im so so sorry!” he said normally, rubbing your skin and sending his friends an apologetic smile “let’s do this again soon, guys! i had so much fun! let me know when you get home, okay?”

they were not too happy about it but let you go, minutes later you two sitting in a cab.

“you’re crazy” you grunted and pressed a kiss onto his cheek. seeing you a bit more relaxed now was worth it.

“i was getting tired too, either way.”

hes just so into whats happening that more often than not he kind of misses the stage when you run out of your battery :(

he feels really guilty when he does though so u can be sure the second he realizes you’re like,, half asleep, he’s taking you home

wont admit but lowkey ur sleepy state is far more worth observing than whatever he was doing at the social outing

“and then i won! literally snatched the ball from his hands and–” taeyang was explaining how he absolutely destroyed intak in a basketball game they had recently, when keeho nudged his arm.

“your partner is sleeping on seob. and he’s also asleep” the leader snickered and theo’s eyes widened as he scanned the place in search of you. eventually, he saw you and the youngest asleep on the couch. your head leaning on his shoulder, seob’s head resting on yours. a soft smile formed on taeyang’s lips.

“let’s get them home” he snickered and stood up. guilt washed over him that he didn’t notice earlier.

he gently woke you up, sleepy eyes meeting his. theo tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.

“hi, sleepyhead. sorry for not noticing earlier” he hummed and you just shook your head in protest.

“it’s okay, jongseob is a nice pillow” you snickered and your boyfriend just tsked.

“good thing we’re going home now. i’m a better pillow, actually” taeyang puffed his chest out dramatically and helped you stand up.

“not with that big head of yours, idiot–” the younger’s voice sounded quietly from below.

you really tried to act like you’re not tired, you really did. but shota started showing you his island on his switch and you couldn’t help your eyes from closing a bit. you two ran off to hide your unwillingness to be here – since jiung really wanted to attend this party you just didn’t want to go home yet. since soul also felt a little sleepy and didn’t mind you not talking, you just watched his animal crossing shenanigans.

“here you two are” you heard a familiar voice and slowly looked up to see jiung. he sent you a soft smile and then noticed shota rubbing his eyes. “let’s go home, okay?”

“nooo you wanted to be here” you whined, a small pout on your lips. he shook his head and helped you stand up.

“i’ve had my fun. now it’s time for bed. both of you” he giggled and helped shota stand up too “i feel like a grumpy dad”

you scoffed and pecked his cheek, grabbing the younger boy’s switch before it slipped out of his hand. jiung sent you a warm smile and interlocked your hand with his.

after your professor successfully approved the project you and him have been working for who knows long, knowing it was worth half of your grade for that semester, you let out a big exhale and leaned back, finally going back to your usual activity without anyone bothering or nagging you.

except something deep down in your chest didn’t let that happen. were you stupid for not listening to your brain? maybe. were you stupid for listening to your heart? absolutely.

thinking back, he was kind, he was helpful —well, just like you’d expect from a partner on a project, nobody wanted to fail, nor him, nor you of course—

he turned out to be different from what your first impression was and in the end with no denying, you became really close. sharing small laughs and smiles, digging deeper and deeper into each other’s pasts and souls. he was really social, it wasn’t that challenging for him after all, he knew how to handle a closeted people like yourself and get them to show themselves.

and that’s where something more sparkled up in your heart, something completely other than a simple friendship towards the boy. you felt nauseous, were you sick? what was happening? why did you felt like that around him towards the end of your meetings. you weren’t in love, were you?

you were, indeed.

the days passed ridiculously fast after the assignment have been graded, —just like in a big time skip movie— the usual silence in your life, came back with the calmness surrounding you between your books. but he wasn’t been able to get a hold of you ever since no matter the effort he put into it. you purposely ignored him. if you do that, he and your dumb feeling would go away, right? or was it delusion, that you could lie to yourself and make yourself numb to it if you simply just don’t pay attention?

right after your classes ended, you rushed to your small but still very cozy little coffee shop. sitting in a hidden corner where you always do, it’s like your own little routine to keep yourself motivated and happy throughout the fast passing days and weeks. the word outside could be an absolute chaos, loud noises everywhere with a lot of people surrounding you, this was your safe space you could retreat and just exist in silence.

it was mid spring already, your favorite season. not too cold and still not too hot either, the world was blooming and it was just absolutely breathtaking. the small flower petals fell from the trees, straight to the ground or the gentle breeze made it land directly in your hair which may be a hassle to remove later but the soothing aroma it carried with itself was worth it.

buried deep in a book, the coffee machines and small chatters could be heard only, leaving you focused on the lines before you, drinking up everything the pages had to offer. a small creak broke the calming sounds bouncing back from the colorful walls, someone making it’s way and sitting across from you in silence.

you didn’t really care, head hung still low when the individual tapped their fingers on the cold wooden table in front of them, their gazes fixated on you, then leaning forward and a small sigh escaping them.

“knew you’d be here.” you recognized the voice. what would jongseob do here? the small building you sat in every day was in the most secluded place you could find on the whole campus. finally looking up from reading, you met with a small smile stretched across his face. the thumping finished with the pads of his digits, his arms resting on the table, he turned his head to the side to look outside the window from a few inches away from you, taking in the people passing by with hurry, the warm air caressing their skin.

in awe, you still stared at him from where you sat. you felt your heart picking up the pace.

“but.. how?” was all you could ask and in response he gave a small laugh, his smile growing further and his cute snaggle-tooth peeked out beneath his soft, pink lips. the light shone right towards your direction in this side of the shop, the thin branches of the trees doing nothing to cover the sun illuminating his eyes, which danced in a pretty honey brown color now. while you were stupidly admired his features, he still didn’t face you.

“you know, it’s not really nice to ignore someone when they try to reach out, is it?” but what else were you supposed to do? you were old enough to handle your own emotions, even if they were something new to you. sometimes you had to figure out things on your own without any help from others. wasn’t this the right choice? rather than giving in and having your heart break in the end. placing no hope in it and just isolate yourself from the outside world right from the start.

“i always saw you after class heading towards here.” jongseob leaned forward, propping his chin on his hand with a lopsided grin while looking at you.

“it isn’t nice to stalk on people either, seobie..” breaking your cold demeanor, you let yourself have a chuckle and you swore you could see the stars in his eyes light up even more with his demeanor illuminate. with a shook of your head, one hand stirred the already half-cold coffee placed right in front of you, eyeing how the black liquid splashed against the white porcelain cup, staining it for a few seconds. “need something?” you questioned, taking a sip from the drink, looking at him over the rim of the mug.

“oh so that’s what you think about me.” seeming like he pondered for a few seconds, jongseob continued: “do i really look like i need anything, just because i want to be in your company after we finished the project?” but why would he want to keep in touch with you in the first place? you centered yourself around books and reading, while, well he was just a casual boy. not the heartthrob of the campus, but still two very different words.

you were stunned nonetheless, trying your best to not let your face fade into a grimace, your teeth sinking into your plump bottom lip, debating on whether to say anything at all.

“look. i’m just asking you not to ignore me, ‘aight?” dumbly you nodded but the small hint of smile stretched at the corners of your mouth. that’s when he learned it; if he wanted to get to know you better, he had to read between the lines to understand you.
