You’re the stars in my sky
☆ pairing: tattoo artist!reader x client!Jiung
☆ genre: fluffffff
☆ summary: Your favorite client was a lot chattier today than usual.
☆ warnings: perhaps the mention of a tattoo gun, and I guess by relation, needles?
☆ word count: 1.4k
☆ authors note: I wrote this for my best friend because she’s a HUGE Jiung girly. Plus I love my bias-in-law, and think he deserves all the love <3
Mindlessly you cleaned your station, keeping yourself busy by preparing for your next client. You’ve probably sanitized the chair about ten times already, about to do it for the eleventh time. Your nerves were wracked, how could they not be? Your next appointment was a special one. It was him. He had been going to you for his past few tattoos, in his words, you were, “The most detail-oriented perfectionist,” and it earned his highest praises. He was already a regular at your shop, but he's been going to you ever since his old tattoo artist moved to a new city. Once he had whispered to you mid session, “Psst! Can you keep a secret?” You nodded curiously, “You are the best artist I’ve ever had. You’re my absolute favorite. I’m devoted to you now.”
He smiled at you with that beautiful smile of his. It was a dangerous smile in your profession. It’s the kind of smile that makes you lose focus. Right now you were beyond focused on making sure your tray was meticulously organized. Then you heard it. The familiar ring of the bell above the door. He was here.
“There’s my favorite artist!” He beamed, making his way toward you, his white hair glowed under the fluorescent lights of your studio.
“Jiung!” You smiled back at him, feeling all the nerves from earlier dissipating, “How’s my favorite client?”
“Me? I’m your favorite? Oh, I’m honored, Y/N,” He swooned, putting his hand over his chest.
You motioned for him to sit down in the chair, “What’re we doing today?”
“You tell me,” He grinned, “I want a Y/N original.”
Typically he designed his own tattoos, ready to go for the appointment. You figured he was the kind of person who wanted complete control over how it would look. His request shocked you but also made your heart flutter a bit.
“Anything you want in particular?” You questioned, unsure of what to design for him.
“Surprise me”
“Okay then… where do you want it?”
He propped one arm up on the armrest of the chair and rested his chin in his hand, tilting his head a bit, saying once again, “Surprise me.”
If you didn’t know any better you would have thought he was flirting with you, “You know you're not making this easy for me, Jiung.”
“I know that whatever you do I’ll love, okay? I trust you,” He smiled warmly, trying to be reassuring.
“Alright… how do you feel about a back tattoo?” You smirked.
“Sounds great,” He nodded, a small tint of blush painting itself on his cheeks. If you noticed it you didn’t say anything.
So you began sketching out some ideas, ultimately narrowing it down to one. You based your design off his other tattoos that way it would compliment them. A small cluster of stars, with some gradient detailing. You flipped your design so it was facing him. He looked at it for a good moment, nodding his head, and smiled wide, “See, I told you I’d love it.”
You couldn't help but smile back at him before you turned to print out the stencil. Once it had finished you turned around again not expecting to see what was before you. Jiung had stripped off his shirt, patiently waiting for you to start the stencil process. Your heart raced at the sight of him, his lean muscles paired with the butterflies on his lower stomach, it was a dangerous combination that had you feeling butterflies. When you had suggested a back tattoo, you hadn’t realized that it meant he would be shirtless during the whole session. You coughed a bit to clear your throat, fully catching yourself for staring, hoping he didn’t notice you were. He had a smirk pulling at the edge of his mouth, but you could see the pink blush creeping across his cheeks and upper chest. His hands fidgeted with each other, revealing his shyness, and reassuring you that you weren't the only one feeling the tension in the air. It made you feel less nervous.
As you approached him to place the stencil on you had never been more grateful that your hands were always steady no matter the situation. Gently you rubbed the transfer solution on his upper back, under his left shoulder. He shivered a bit from the coldness of it and you stifled a giggle, it was cute. Then you lined the stencil exactly how you wanted it and smoothed it out carefully while applying a bit of pressure. After about a minute you peeled the stencil off and took a look at it. It looked good, but you wanted to make sure he thought it looked good.
“Go look,” You said pointing at the floor-length mirror on the wall opposite your station.
He got up and turned around, his back to the mirror, glancing over his left shoulder. An excited smile spread across his face. He was more than happy with it, “This looks perfect already!”
“Alrighty then, let’s get started shall we?” You grinned, adjusting your chair so that it lay flat. You patted at it when you were done, signaling for him to lie down.
In your previous sessions, you had thought that Jiung wasn’t really the talkative type, since he spent most of the time quiet. However, he was quite the chatterbox today. You had just finished the first star and were moving on to the smaller, second one; gently you wiped at his skin as you went in to start.
“How long have you been doing this?” He asked, his face was turned towards you.
He had already asked you a bunch of questions about yourself, some turning into bigger conversations, some not, but he always asked stuff first, not giving you a chance to reciprocate, “Um… it’s 2024… so I think by next month it’ll be six years? I started apprenticing when I was 18.”
“Oh, so you’re 22?” He probed.
“Mhmm! Not for much longer though, my birthday is soon,” You answered.
“Oh let me guess, you’re a….. (your star sign)?” He had a hopeful look on his face, desperate to be right.
You smiled big, wondering how he knew, “I am. What gave it away?”
“You seem very ambitious and hardworking, and most (your star sign)s I’ve met are like that,” He mentally shrugged, not actually doing it because he didn’t want to mess you up.
“Do I?” You chuckled, “Well, I’m flattered.”
“Could you guess mine?” He dared.
You finished up the second star and began the third, your face scrunched up in thought, “Hmmmm… Maybe Scorpio? Wait no! Libra, definitely Libra.”
He gently nodded his head, “How’d you know?”
“Libra’s are very charming individuals,” You reasoned.
“You think I’m charming?” He asked, batting his eyelashes at you. Which earned a lighthearted scoff from you.
“Quite…” You smirked at him, wiping some access ink off before continuing, “Especially today.”
“What do you mean?” He gave a sly, knowing look, clearly aware of how he was being.
“You’re much more talkative today than in our previous sessions. It’s nice,” You smiled back at him.
“Just want to get to know my favorite artist more,” He winked.
Your face felt hot again, and at such a cheesy move too, you rolled your eyes jokingly. He laughed, a hearty laugh that could make anyone who heard it happy.
“No, but seriously, Y/N. I’ve wanted to know more about you,” He confessed.
“What do you want to know?” You said, feeling bold.
“Everything,” He whispered.
Your breath hitched in your throat, caught off guard by his unexpected forwardness. You pulled your gaze away from the tattoo, halting your stippling on the second to last star. Meeting his gaze, you said softly, “Well we don’t have much time for me to tell you everything, I’m almost done.”
“Then why don’t we go somewhere after?” He asked, eyes full of hope.
You smiled big and answered before you continued with the stippling, “I’d love that.”
“It’s a date then,” He grinned, feeling ecstatic.
As you moved on to the last star, wiping away the remnants of excess ink, a surge of excitement coursed through you for what the rest of the day had in store. You never imagined that you would end up with a date after work today, especially with the one person you had been crushing on for what felt like ages now. He was like a bright star in your sky, and as it turns out, you were his sun.
