unpopular opinion because everyone is asleep: suzu suzuki is good when she's not doing stupid garbage wrestling. i say this as a person who enjoyed mayumi ozaki in the 90s and 00s. i think suzu is better than that gimmick and it seems like she's selling herself short.

Presentation of Triangle Derby

Taking place between january 3rd and march 4th 2023, this new trio tournament is in two steps : - A round robin phase - A single elimination tournament

The round robin phase is slightly different than similar tournament. Althrough the teams are separated between two groups (Triangle Red & Triangle Blue), all the matches during this phase will be between a team from the blue group and one from the red group.

The single elimination tournament part is more classic. The first two team of each group will be qualified to a 4 teams tournament, where the 1st of the blue group will fight the 2nd of the red group and vice versa.

In this first edition, 14 teams will fight each other for the title of best trio team of 2023 and a pennant of glory.

ok here is another chunk of naruto au writing that isn’t ready to live on a03 bc its under 500 words but i like it. its kouyou’s backstory which puts her right at the center of ninja intrigue surrounding her own loyalty to konoha and her connection to the precocious and newly orphaned genin, izumi kyouka.

    “Ozaki-senpai! Thank god you’re h—” The final words spoken by Nakata Suzu end in an aborted gurgle as a meticulously sharpened kunai slashes cleanly through her throat. Kouyou’s partner engages in his own violent clash a few meters away, but his taijutsu was never a strength of his and she is simply too far away to prevent his opponent’s blade from connecting.

    All she can do is turn sharply away from the growing pool of cooling blood and confront the second assailant head-on. There wasn’t much that had distinguished Izumi Seiji from his ANBU peers aside from an admirable dedication to following unsavory orders, but with his comrade bleeding out a few yards away, he moved with a terrifying agility that even his former captain and current opponent struggles to counter in time. They’re at close enough range that his slash inflicts a deep wound, but his opponent is Ōzaki Kouyou, decorated jōnin and pride of the Konohagakure ANBU, so even a few moments of surprise is not enough to surpass the overwhelming gap in experience between them. Izumi Seiji is dead before he hit the ground.

    Her head feels light and dizzy after losing so much blood, but even through the haze she’s almost certain she hears an ally’s voice calling after her. It seems Kouyou would have a bit longer to endure still.

    The first physical sensation to return is smell, specifically the unmistakable sharp scent of fabric that’s endured countless intense rounds of sanitizing. Next is sound, in the form of a light buzz from aging fluorescent lights mounted above the headboard. Even without opening her eyes, she knows precisely what the old light fixture looks like because it’s the same kind of hospital bed she’s been waking up in for the better half of her life. She doesn’t move at first, savoring the last few moments  for which she was not yet truly in the land of the living, as if refusing to acknowledge it might really change the reality she is in.

    When she finally does open her eyes, she’s welcomed immediately by a reassuring voice. “Ah, you’re awake!” the attending nurse announces brightly. “You have plenty of healing to do still, but the Hokage wanted me to deliver his personal thanks for your dedication to the Leaf on this taxing mission.” If Kouyou’s face gave away any clues to the mission or anything that happened, the iryō-nin chose to continue without acknowledging it. “We can talk about it more when you’re feeling more lucid, but you should know you’ve been granted 3 months of recovery leave and will subsequently be transferred to a genin squad as captain. But for now, just focus on feeling better!” The nurse’s face is obscured by the standard iryō-nin mask, but her tone is disarmingly cheerful for the kind of mission Kouyou is returning from.

     An insistent voice in her head urges her to pick the words apart, to scour the message for the slightest hint as to the hand the village would play, but between the soothing notes of the nurse’s words and the blissful fog of a strong pain reliever sedative cocktail, sleep is catching up with her too quickly. She must have been pretty seriously injured to warrant drugs this strong.

     Too bad she hadn’t died instead.

FUTAKUCHI HEADCANONS BECAUSE I LIKE HIM :

he actually has a decent fashion sense, but you would never know that about him from seeing what he wears.

his little sister is a budding illustrator, so he’s found shops that print her art on shirts/pants and he wears them a lot. it just happens that her art isn’t really made for clothing.

interested in old school ( 80s ) rock n’ roll, like boøwy, barbee boys, and rc succession.

awful at video games. plays them regardless. he likes the resident evil franchise. 

people keep telling him he needs to cut his hair. he won’t, half out of spite. 

he has so many cousins he can barely keep them straight. he’s almost certain that his parents lie to him when they tell him about another one of his surprise cousins who’s out being successful in the world. 

worst person to go to karaoke with.

for the longest time he thought he would get a motorcycle, but then when he saw them in-person ( instead of tv ), he panicked and decided they were too scary.

he boasts that he can write with both his left and right hands, but he never specifies that he can do it well. he’s pissed off his classmates before by doing this.

likes girls like hirose suzu. doesn’t know why. likes boys like ozaki yutaka. also doesn’t know why ( it’s the voice ). 

can fit a lot in his mouth, but he won’t do it in polite company.

puts kewpie mayonnaise on pizza.

whenever he stubs his toe, he gets a nosebleed. he’s not really sure what the correlation is ... or if there’s actually a correlation at all. 

despite how troublesome he is as a student and a kouhai, he works pretty hard in school and is in the top five students of his class. he’s proud of himself, but not stupid enough to go around boasting about his performance. at least in that regard, he’s a bit more humble. 

that being said, he tried tutoring once and it was awful. he’s still got a ways to go with patience. he elected to get a summer job cleaning out the insides of computer desktops rather than to work with people. 

his bucket list includes being invited to one televised game show. it doesn’t matter which, but he thinks it’d be funny if he went on one.
