おやすみ sfw. byakuya kuchiki x f! reader.
✦ a cute scenario of a dream I had. I wrote it some time ago. Please enjoy. おやすみ (oyasumi) means goodnight. ✦ tw: none. write some headcanons about Sojun and Byakuya's mother. the banner contains an edited panel from ch. 179 by me. He isn't smiling in the original one. ✦ wc: 1.3k
The eyes of endless night skies feel dry and tired. His eyelids become heavy, his back hurts. Delicate hands, sleek fingers, hold the pen and one by one the papers get the fancy swirls of his signature plastered in them.
Captain Kuchiki isn’t used to yawning; however, this time he does. He realizes how much of an useful lieutenant Renji can be when is gone.
Byakuya stops for a second to look outside. It’s already really dark, but the bright silver light of the moon kisses the soft, ethereal, and ephemeral buds of Hanami.
He asks himself how might Rukia be? Is she safe? Is she enjoying the flowers with Renji? The captain sighs. The kids have grown up and now they are spending some free days in the world of the living for nothing else than their own honeymoon.
A soft smile appears on his lips. Tired eyes that also soften. Nobody sees him smile, and that’s exactly how it should be. An everlasting seriousness that shows how noble, calm, and collected the head of the clan is.
But… how much he wished he could smile with her…
The rustling of the trees outside slowly lull the captain to a sleepy state in which there is no coming back. But he doesn’t want to go to bed; Byakuya believes it’s not fair. He must finish, or, he wouldn’t get the right to sleep tight on his own big, comfortable bed.
He, also, is aware that in such state he won’t be able to do a proper work. So, he drags himself to the big seat that has belonged to every head clan; It’s bigger than a normal seat, in which more than one person could fit… but, ironically, it is only allowed just for a single person to sit… but not always, not always that had been the case.
The long-haired noble collapses on it. Just a cushion lies next to him; he grabs it. His delicate hands squeeze and grip tight to the velvety fabric. He remembers how sometimes, while being a kid, he enjoyed sleeping with his head lying on Sojun’s lap. He remembers how his dad would tell him about his daily adventures as a Lieutenant, while played with his hair until he would fall into the oneiric world with a sweet smile on his round face.
He also remembers how, most of the times, his dad would fall asleep as soon as he did. And how, his mother, would cover both of them with a mantle of knitted love, kissing their foreheads to wish them goodnight.
Byakuya shakes his head. This lack of sleep is making his eyes get watery. Yes, it has to be the lack of sleep…
Soon, his heavy eyelids win against Byakuya’s attempts for keeping them up. And he drifts so peacefully into a much-needed sleep session.
The paperwork doesn’t feel heavy on your arms as the way your heart does when you see his face.
“He looks so peaceful there” you think, watching the most beautiful soul your eyes have seen sleeping right in front of you. You let the paperwork over his deck and cross your arms. Smiling, you enjoy the low rumble of his pale lips barely spread and the sound of his deep breathing filling the night.
You wish, you pray, for life to give you at least a single chance to kiss him. But you know, a simple officer couldn’t. You are so sure Byakuya Kuchiki belongs to a woman who will never come back, but whose hand he will never let go off.
Sighing, you turn around to see if you can find something to cover him up. Spring is right around the corner, but nights are still chilly. You notice his frowning intensifying. Probably he is sensing your spiritual pressure, but, even so, he is so tired he can’t wake up.
You notice the tip of a crochet knitted something on one of the many racks his office has. On tippy toes, you are able to reach for it. It falls on your face, and it’s dusty. With all your willpower, you avoid sneezing.
Inspecting the clothe in your hand, you identify it as a blanket. Perfect to give him some comfort and fly away as soon as you have covered him with it. You don’t want him to feel less in control, and much less for him to see you as a nosy officer.
“This should do” you think, opening the blanket while coming closer to his inert body. Byakuya’s head has tilted to the side in a sluggish way, and you worry for his neck. However, the only cushion still remains tightly gripped by his hands.
With love and utmost care not to wake him up, you cover him with the knitted mantle. He immediately toss a little and lets go off the cushion to snuggle to the blanket. It makes you beam… after all, it’s just like a child.
“Goodnight, Kuchiki Taicho” you whisper, approaching your hand to his forehead yet without touching him. The tip of your fingers hurt from how much they wished they were at least grazing his skin. Your lips too.
Byakuya suddenly pulls your hand to stop you from leaving. You gasp. It certainly scares you.
“Why?” he asks, sleepy, with a raspier voice than ever. “Wh- what?” you ask back, blinking rapidly but not as fast as your heartbeats.
He pulls you closer, with enough strength for you to fall on his lap. You widen your eyes, Byakuya is probably still asleep, this isn’t- this is just a dream...
“Why, from all the things you could have chosen to cover me up… you chose this blanket?” he inquires you, showing you, he is completely awake and that the scent of his skin lingering so close to your nose is indeed real life.
“I- I… I saw it there and it was soft and warm… I thought- please forgive me Kuchiki taicho!” you mumble, trying to stand up. But his arms have you trapped. And you don’t really want them to let you go.
Byakuya looks into your eyes. His eyes in which you wished you could always reflect, have finally noticed your façade. He grabs one of the edges of the blanket and covers you with it. Now, both are under it… and it feels warm, and full of love and like if you were inside a bubble where nothing mattered except the both of you.
He takes his silky hand to your face, placing it like how a butterfly poses on top of a flower. “Forgive me for what I am about to do. But…” he murmurs, coming closer to your lips. You can barely breathe. No oxygen seems to be flowing to your brain, you feel lightheaded, confused, and yet again like in a dream.
A kiss on your cheek, close to your commissure.
“Thank you. Thank you so much” he whispers, watching the way you bite your lower lip absolutely clueless. “You can go if you want. Again, please forgive me. I didn’t mean to do anything aga-“
You cut him short. If he had the right to pull you so unexpectedly, to kiss your cheek so deadly and faintly. Then, fairness is that you have your chance too.
Your lips crash against his forehead, surprising him to no extent. But he isn’t mad, he just hugs you closer to his chest. “You…?” he asks you, and there is no need for more words. You simply understand…
Yes, Byakuya… me too, you have no idea how much I wanted to kiss you, to hug you, to love you.
“Yes… you?” you ask back, placing your hand on his shoulder, snuggling closer, getting comfortable on his lap.
He looks down, his cheeks, for the very first time, give you the gift of seeing them blushed. “Yes…” he confesses. Whether is that meaning love, attraction, need, or who knows what, you don’t really mind.
What only matters now, is to enjoy his lips against yours. The warmth of the blanket that smells just like him. The protective embrace of Kuchiki taicho’s arms around your waist… the smile after the kiss, a smile you will never forget. A smile he wanted to gift…
Goodnight, (Name)… Goodnight, Byakuya-sama…

Oyasumi Punpun: a Rant
Oyasumi Punpun is like the Elliot Rodger manifesto for weeaboos. Boy that thinks he's the only person that's had anything bad happen to him gets raped and beaten, goes around raping and beating and murdering women. And it's all justified because of the horrible life he led. If you read any of Inio Asano's other mangas you can tell this is not a flaw or an oversight in Punpun's writing- Asano is a bitter misogynist and it shows in everything he writes. Bullies, abusive mothers, are all bitchy, unlovable hags. The only good women in the world of his manga are underage prepubescent girls.
Throughout Downfall, Goodnight Punpun, Dead Dead Demon's DEDEDEDEstruction (yes i read all of those. i wanted to give him a chance so bad.) women are always positioned as mindless foils to the protagonist. women that crave sex are disgusting whores. prostitutes are ugly, but the protagonist still sleeps with them. Fat women are disgusting. Mean women are ugly caricatured beasts, and kind women are perfectly molded, underage girls. Characters that proudly self-identify as pedophiles (Punpun's uncle, the otaku in DEDEDEDEstruction) are positioned as the rationalists, the Reddit Atheists, the ones too smart for the idiocy of the normies. The breath of "reason" in an insane world. The most obvious example of this isn't even in Oyasumi Punpun with the pedo uncle;
it's in DOWNFALL, which is about an 'intellectual' manga artist that hates the braindead 'normies' that like his manga. he only makes it for bottom feeders like them. he's above those human scum. The self insert protagonist rapes a woman too because she pissed him off. That's life! C'est la Vie! Men just do that kind of thing sometimes!
I am fucking sick of indie scenes treating punpun like the most deep, meaningful manga ever and jacking off about how smart they are for "understanding" it. what is there to understand? asano themself said punpun isn't supposed to have a coherent plot or meaning, that it's just supposed to be nonsense because real life murders are nonsense. it's just an excuse to write a sloppy, disheveled story, with little care put into the world that the protagonist inhabits.
this isnt very organized. im just full of hate for inio asano, and i cannot believe this bilge is touted as some of the most 'intellectual' manga of our time.
here's some quotes from an interview about punpun
and here's an incident where a teenager killed a young girl and wrote punpun quotes all over the wall at the site. **AT NO POINT AM I IMPLYING DIRECT CORRELATION OF A HORRIFIC CRIME AND A FICTIONAL COMIC. You've seen that kind of thinking with, say, the boy that killed himself after playing Doki Doki Literature club- it's more likely someone willing to do that was drawn to media that discussed those themes rather than yknow, being directly inspired
..However, it is still interesting to note similarities in ideology/motive. In the same way the religious beliefs of killers often come into discussion (ie the Dena Schlosser murders- how did the ideology/community she was surrounded by influence her already declining mental state? Noone would argue christianity itself caused the murders.) , I think it's interesting to note Punpun's influence on the killer. ***I AM NOT SAYING PUNPUN WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MURDER. the person involved in the killing was already suicidal and mentally ill, thus they probably gravitated towards manga with those themes.
but if the manga influenced his actions that much, I think it's interesting to look into the ideology of the manga itself and what ideals it promotes. ***I AM NOT FUCKING SAYING PUNPUN CAUSED THE MURDER BEFORE I GET ANY COMMENTS ALONG THOSE LINES
note to self if i clean this up; make it more structured with my gripes about his manga; ie separate sections for misogynistic depictions of women, why i dont think the nihilism works, and bad writing with clear favoritism for certain characters and author self inserts (Platinum End also does this!)

Hi do you read any manga? And which if you can say because I am looking for new ones to read thanks!
Hi ♡!
I am, I just finished 2 Manga from Tatsuki Fujimoto (Creator of 'Chainsaw Man'); Goodbye, Eri (さよなら絵梨, Sayonara Eri) which I thought was really good. This, maybe with a few tiny tweaks has movie-potential for sure. CW though, probably not the best idea to read if you're currently grieving- I wish I knew that 😅. I love the pacing of the panels in this though! Second was Look Back (ルックバック, Rukku Bakku).
Currently I'm trying to read Goodnight Punpun (おやすみプンプン, Oyasumi Punpun).. this is pretty much on every Seinen fans' top 10 list, incl on MAL's.. I'm at Chapter 28 and I don't really get why. Maybe it's just me or- maybe it suddenly will get a whole lot better, maybe it's not for me. I don't know. But apparently the story is really, really good.
I started 'Blame!' and will read 'Vagabond', 'Kingdom', 'Vinland Saga', 'Blue Lock' and 'Samurai 8' soon. The latter because I am curious to see why it didn't do as well despite Kishimoto being so passionate about it. I mean, we all know why as the company kept pushing him to work on Naruto-sequel related stuff- but still. I'm already watching Blue Lock's Anime, but I really like some of the artwork so I want to read the Manga too! Same with Vinland Saga- I don't like the pacing of Season 2 at all but.. I do enjoy the story a lot 🫶

3/11/2024 my first post
helloooo i needed a side hobby thing that my friends didn't know about, so i made this side blog... I don't actually know if they can see this or not. I wanted to make a little online diary for me to talk about my thoughts on where i'm pretty much anonymous. Hiding things from my friends is a bit of a guilty pleasure since I normally end up accidentally info dumping about every hour of my life to them and leaving no room for secrets. For anyone wondering, this is going to be mostly a system blog as well as that's what I (we?) am (are?). I'll eventually make an introduction post maybe if im feeling exxtra daring. but for now, here is what I've done today.
I went to bed at around midnight (I was really tired from not sleeping properly and want to fix my sleep schedule so no naps!!!) and woke up at noon! I normally sleep for only 8 hours like most human beings on earth so i guess i was preettty tired.. I had some funny dreams about friends and hopefully didn't come to any weird conclusions in one of them. I won't disclose that, though, just in case (albeit overbearing and lowkey stalker-ish) find this page and i have to explain my fucking tumblr post to them. Anyways, I made myself brunch... It was a fried egg sandwich with avocado, spinach, and the rest of my tomato.. Because someone else has been using my tomato and I don't know who.. I don't really care that much, there's another tomato. I had some extra avocado on the side, drenched in parmesan. Matt played some rimworld and we ate our brunch as usual and I watched a video about eerie japanese internet history. It's been a recent thing I've been fixated on. It's now 5 pm and we've done nothing but listen to music and play rimworld. I'm now going to take a nap. OH ACTUALLY,, before all of this brunch eating and rimworld playing, Matt helped apply us for a local credit union. Originally it was going to be Kyle's job, but he stopped fronting, and our current gatekeeper got the idea. I'll see tomorrow if we got accepted into it. I hope we did, but I doubt we will with our shitty record of constant unemployment ( we just got our ID) and just overall shitty looking anythings in terms of adulting. If not, we're applying for chase. asides from that, that is genuinely all I've done today. nothing crazy, I'm more excited for the sleepover with friends I should be having on Wednesday. My friends are constantly busy nowadays since they all have jobs, so hanging out like this is always fun. We're supposed to be keeping it a secret from (for anonymity I'll use fake names) Lemon, because he's very whiny and tbh a man-child. He never lets us hang out without him and we accidentally invited him to our ihop date, so we're going without him on wednesday and hoping he forgets about ihop.... You can ssay wwe're evil or mean or bad friends, but if you were his best friend of 6+ years, you'd do this too. what he doesn't know can't hurt him :p so don't tell on me, ok? anyways, goodnight, oyasumi, bon nuit, I'm taking my nap xx

Fun With “Itsudemo Kirby”
I’ve recently discovered the illustrated book series "Itsudemo Kirby." They each have a different illustrator, but every single one is adorable and sweet!! (Look at this image! Look! If seeing this doesn't bring even the most withered heart back to life, I don't know what will!)
(Image cropped from “Dakishimete Kirby” or “Hug Me, Kirby.” Picture depicts Adeleine hugging Kirby to teach him about love. The Japanese text reads, “I like them. I love them. I love that person.”)
...
But they can also be used for evil instead of good. I mean...
...Memes below the cut!
(Image cropped from “Oyasumi Kirby” aka, “Goodnight, Kirby.” Yes, that’s Marx watching a sleeping Kirby through his window. There’s a...good reason for it. Really....)
...Right?!
So, with that terrible discovery out of the way (assuming this hasn't been done to death before) I bring you all this cursed gift...

funny language fact!
so i know that ¨my time¨ wasn´t written for omori, but I told my mom that ¨oyasumi¨ means ¨goodnight (informal)¨ in Japanese, and my mom told me it sounded like the Portuguese phrase ¨óija sumi¨.
¨óija¨ is a farmers way (her words not mine) of saying ¨look!¨ while ¨sumi¨ is the word for disappear. Portugese often omits the ¨i¨ word in a sentence so ¨óija sumi¨ in Portuguese means:
¨look! (i) disappeared¨
idk man but to me it fits waaay too much with the bad ending of omori
