This is the story of how a small nation played a decisive role in the Axis Powers' defeat.

The Greek victory against the Italians was the first official victory against the Axis,. It shattered the myth of the invincibility of the Axis, as mentioned in the video.

When Greece said No, the entire European continent was under the Axis control and London was getting bombed by the Luftwaffe. The USA were not yet in the war, and the USSR had agreed with the Nazis to invade Poland. Greece was fighting alone.

Greece was exhausted from continuous wars since 1897, and yet it was the only country in WW2 that fought at the same time with four enemies (Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, and Albania).

This small nation had only two tanks and practically no airforce.

Mussolini thought conquering Greece was a matter of days.

However, the Greek army delayed the German invasion of the USSR for about 2 months. By then, winter in the USSR had settled for good, which played a major role in the defeat of the Germans.

Everyone fought because they knew the country was doomed if the Axis forces won. Women climbed the mountains (Pindos) on foot into the snow to bring food, blankets and ammunition, and, afterwards, brought the wounded soldiers back down. The resilience of Greek women was commemorated in songs, as well as the bravery of fighters on the Pindos mountains.

Let us also salute the brave British, New Zealander, and Australian people who fought with the Greek troops and died for Greece in both the mainland and Crete. It's scary to thing what Europe would be today had the Axis Powers won. You're all heroes.

Shady things about the dentist/dentists office who did my wisdom teeth assessment that lead me to believe that maybe I should not let this man operate on me:

There was no front entrance so I had to go through the back. CORRECTION, there WAS a front entrance, but the window was shattered (I’m not super familiar with guns but to me it looked like a bullet hole and my stepdad who was in the military agreed when I sent him a picture) and the door was surrounded by a gate with bars with barbed wire

When I told the tech the medications I’m on, she said she’d google them to make sure they don’t interact badly with anesthesia (?)

The x ray machine had parts of it falling off. The tech had to take a part that fell off the machine and onto the floor and pop it back on before I could use it

I told them I’m allergic to latex and instead of using latex free gloves, she used her bare hands to position my mouth to the x ray machine. I also did not see her wash her hands.

The consult room was also the surgery room and the surgery chair looked like it was from 30 years ago

There was also no medical equipment in the entire room

When the dentist who would be performing my surgery came in, his hand was shaking so bad he couldn’t put the x ray into the little light board. Instead he held it to the screen with his hand. (He was like 85. 80 at the youngest)

He reminded me of Joe Biden. Not in a positive america’s leader kind of way, but in the sense that I was genuinely worried about his cognitive function and his ability to understand things.

He said he would put me under general anesthesia for the surgery. I asked him if there would be an anesthesiologist, and he said no. (I also didn’t see a single other person working there other than him and the tech)

(There were also no other patients in the entire building and only 2 cars other than mine in the parking lot. Presumably the dentist’s and the tech’s)

I asked him what his plan was for pain management. He said he would prescribe me ONE MONTH’S worth of OXYCODONE for after the surgery. ONE MONTH. For two WISDOM TEETH.

The dentist kept zoning out in the middle of the conversation and when I asked him a question, in the middle of my sentence, he said “have a good weekend” and WANDERED OFF??????? I NEVER SAW HIM AGAIN????

I was given an instructional piece of paper that looked like a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy made by someone who doesn’t know how to make a photocopy. The only information on there was 1. Don’t eat or drink 6 hours before the surgery 2. Get someone to drive you home and 3. A photocopied picture of the location FROM AN ACTUAL PAPER MAP????

Happy Oxi Day! On this day, the 28th of October 1940, we celebrate and commemorate the morning that the Italian occupation started after the conversation the Greek Dicator Ioannis Metaxas had with the Italian Ambassador Emanuele Grazzi the night prior. On the morning eve of 28th of October at 02:45 am Ambassador Grazzi visited the Metaxas estate with orders from the Italian Dictator Benito Mussolini. According to Ambassador Grazzi, Dictator Mussolini wanted Greece and from Dicator Metaxas to take a neutral position in the, then current conflict known now as World War 2, allowing Italians to take over key points of Greece within its terrain that would benefit the Italian forces in the war and for Greece essentially to be under Italian occupation. The whole ordeal was an ultimatum made by dictator Mussolini and delivered through Ambassador Grazzi. The entire conversation took place in French and once Metaxas was done reading the terms he turned to Grazzi and said; "Alors, c'est la guerre" which translates to "And so we are at war.". The Italians didn't hold their promise to wait until 6 am to start the invasion they started at 5:30 am. And like that on the 28th of October 1940 at 5:30 am Greece entered World War 2.
