(RNN) Last week, the Oxford Union held a debate in which the motion that "israel" is "an apartheid state responsible for genocide" was approved.
The PFLP congratulated (https://t.me/PalestineResist/70584) this achievement, seeing it as evidence of the growing student awareness of zionist genocidal crimes and praising the roles of activists. They called considered the debate the beginning of the collapse of the student movement in the west, based on the context and setting. They called to continue the struggle and specifically for students to escalate their movements.
Here, we are publishing the words of renowned Palestinian writer Susan Abdulhawa at the debate, where she eloquently, unapologetically, and scathingly made the case against zionism. Susan not only dismantled the facade of zionism, but painted a harrowing picture of the experience under occupation. Weaving through statements of zionist leaders that display clear expressions of genocide and ethnic cleansing, she articulated clearly the unbreakable connection between Palestinians and their homeland, ties that no colonizer can erase.
"You will not erase us…We are not the rocks Chaim Weizmann thought you could clear from the land. We are its very soil." A full transcript may be found here (https://x.com/susanabulhawa/status/1862865613183406210).
Let these words be a reminder that Palestine's struggle is not just one against occupation and colonization, but one for dignity, history, and rights.

Power of Repetition in Public Speaking
After watching "Oscar-winning actor & writer Tom Hanks gives the Oxford Union an acting lesson" on YouTube I felt inspired to write this blog. The link below if interested.

Public speaking is an art that transcends mere words; it involves a deep understanding of human psychology, effective communication techniques, and the strategic use of rhetorical devices. Among these, repetition stands out as a powerful tool that can elevate a speech from ordinary to extraordinary. In this blog, we delve into the Repetition class in speaking, exploring how this technique can captivate audiences, enhance message retention, and leave a lasting impact.
The Basics of Repetition:
Repetition involves the intentional reuse of words, phrases, or ideas within a speech. When employed thoughtfully, it can create emphasis, reinforce key points, and establish a rhythm that resonates with the audience. There are various forms of repetition, each serving a unique purpose:
Anaphora: This involves repeating the same word or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses or sentences. For example, Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic "I Have a Dream" speech masterfully uses anaphora with the repetition of "I have a dream."
Epistrophe: In contrast to anaphora, epistrophe repeats a word or phrase at the end of successive clauses or sentences. Winston Churchill's famous "We shall fight on the beaches" speech is a classic example of epistrophe in action.
Anadiplosis: This technique involves repeating the last word of one clause or sentence at the beginning of the next. This creates a seamless connection between ideas and builds momentum. Yoda's sage advice, "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering," is an example of anadiplosis.
The Impact of Repetition:
Emphasis: Repetition serves as a spotlight, directing the audience's attention to specific words or ideas. By repeating a key point, a speaker can emphasize its importance, making it more likely to be remembered.
Rhythm and Flow: A well-crafted repetition adds a musical quality to a speech, creating a rhythmic flow that engages the audience. This cadence can make the message more memorable and enjoyable.
Connection: Repetition helps to establish connections between different parts of a speech. It ties ideas together, creating a cohesive narrative that is easier for the audience to follow.
Persuasion: Through repetition, a speaker can subtly persuade the audience to adopt a particular viewpoint or take action. The consistent reinforcement of a message can influence attitudes and beliefs.
Practical Tips for Using Repetition Effectively:
Choose Key Points: Identify the core messages you want to convey, and strategically repeat key words or phrases associated with these points.
Consider Your Audience: Tailor your repetition to resonate with your audience. Understanding their preferences, values, and expectations will help you use repetition more effectively.
Vary Your Approach: While repetition is a powerful tool, overusing it can diminish its impact. Vary your repetition techniques to keep the audience engaged and interested.
Practice Pacing: The timing and pacing of repetition are crucial. Practice delivering your speech with the right rhythm to maximize its impact.
In the world of public speaking, the Repetition class is a formidable ally. When wielded with skill and precision, repetition can transform a speech into a compelling, memorable experience for both the speaker and the audience. By understanding the various forms of repetition and practising its implementation, speakers can elevate their communication skills and leave a lasting impression on those who listen.

Quid ergo dicemus, cum et silentii et orationis magna utilitas sit? *
- Sallust
What then should we say, considering that there is great utility in both silence and in speaking? *
Prof Kathleen Stock, a university professor of philosophy was hounded out of her post by trans activists for her gender critical views. In her work she tackled the relation between sex and gender identity, arguing among other things that: womanhood and manhood reflect biological sex, not gender or gender identity; the claim “transwomen are women” is a fiction, not literally true; sexual orientation (being gay, being lesbian) is determined by same-sex attraction, not attraction to gender identity; spaces where women undress and sleep should remain genuinely single-sex, in order to protect them; and children with gender identity disorders should not be given puberty blockers as minors. For holding such views she was subject to torrential abuse and subsequently hounded out of her academic position by a vocal minority of student trans right activists for holding such ‘transphobic’ views.
Stock was invited first by the Cambridge Union and later the Oxford Union to debate her views. At Oxford, trans activists tried to get her invitation rescinded on the basis that her views constituted ‘hate speech’. The Oxford Union was threatened by the Student Union to deny her a platform. To their credit, the Oxford Union held fast to their free speech principles while a petition signed by many Oxford academics, including Richard Dawkins and Nigel Biggar, came out in support for Prof. Stock.
Trans activists did their best to disrupt the event outside with a march while also offering ‘safe spaces’ for triggered Oxford students in a nearby college room complete with energy bars, ear plugs, and bottled water.
Inside the chamber, one activist, Riz Possnett, glued her hand to the chamber floor, in an attempt to disrupt Stock’s talk, until she was removed by police. The privately educated Possnett (£41,000 year private school in Hong Kong) reading PPE at Wadham College, Oxford, is no stranger to controversy as ‘they’ was known to be an Extension Rebellion activist and Republican agitator, having previously broken into Windsor Castle to frolic on King Charles’ bed with ‘their’ partner.
Prof Stock told the Union that some universities were “becoming propaganda machines for a particular point of view”. She said she did not find it “traumatic” to have protesters outside the event and said that students in her generation staged similar protests. “Generally what I find more worrying is when institutions listen to protesters and take that voice through into the institution and basically become propaganda machines for a particular point of view and then everyone else in that institution feels that they can’t say what they want to say,” she said. She said that had happened in some universities. She told the Union said it would “take courage” for people to realise that “the world does not end” when you have disagreements.
Photo: Prof Stock brought the severed head of a trans activist to display in an attempt to trigger her critics. Is there no end to this woman's evil?

“We think there will be some threats in that way, but we are working with the police… we’ll have dozens of people there to keep it a safe situation, we’ll have first aid and field support to offer any kind of support.“ Yes that’s something truly oppressed people say. 🙄
Students at Oxford university will stage a protest on the same day as “gender-critical” Kathleen Stock’s address to the Oxford Union this month.
Various student groups announced the Oxford Trans+ Pride event on Sunday (7 May) in an effort to counteract the contentious pundit’s planned speech on 30 May.
Controversy arose last month after the union announced that former University of Sussex philosophy lecturer Stock, who has argued that self-ID “threatens a secure understanding of the concept ‘lesbian’,” had agreed to speak.
The Oxford University LGBTQ+ Society condemned the union’s decision to give Stock a platform in April, saying that she “has been campaigning against trans rights, labelling them as dangerous to women”.
Tumblr media
The society’s president, Amiad Haran Diman, told PinkNews that the collective effort by society organisers is not just about protesting against Stock’s views, but also about celebrating the trans people of Oxford.
“Our motivation is not to attack the union or attack Kathleen Stock, because we think they love the attention. The reason we are doing this is for the trans community of Oxford – it’s for our trans siblings so that they know someone is standing up for them.”
The event is set to begin at 2pm in the Lincoln College building, with panels of trans, non-binary, gender-nonconforming and intersex speakers.
It will then move to Bonn Square, where protestors will hold a rally promoting transgender rights.
“The previous protest for queer rights in Oxford got around 200 attendees, we’re hoping to get double or triple that,” Diman said. “We need that because there will be counter-protestors and hateful transphobes. To counteract that, we need a loud voice.”
He added that the society received a wave of abuse following its April statement calling on the union to “rescind its misguided invite” and that the decision to hold a Pride protest was an effort to prove that trans joy triumphs over adversity.
Tumblr media
“A huge pile-on started”, said Diman. “We received thousands of very hateful, abusive and frightening comments. That was something we weren’t prepared for as a small society.
“The thing I noticed was what annoyed the TERFs the most was trans joy. They were really baffled and threatened by trans joy, so I thought that emphasising trans joy is the best way to counter that.”
Pride is still a protest, Oxford University LGBTQ+ Society president says
Diman continued: “We know that there are some very hateful groups like Students Against Tyranny that are planning to arrive, and this is something that has happened in Oxford before.”
“We think there will be some threats in that way, but we are working with the police… we’ll have dozens of people there to keep it a safe situation, we’ll have first aid and field support to offer any kind of support.
“It will be a celebration, but also come prepared – if you’re worried about being outed, you should probably cover your face, and if you’re worried about heated interactions, you should probably stay away from the edges of the protest.”
With several pro-LGBTQ+ community organisations already supporting the Oxford Trans+ Pride protest, the goal for organisers is to turn it into an annual event.
“We are in coordination with some very large queer organisations here,” Diman said. “This is something that couldn’t really have happened otherwise because the trans community here is not that large, but it is very active.
“I believe it can become an annual event, but currently we are just trying to get this first event underway and assess the success afterwards.”
Stock responded to the announcement of Oxford Trans+ Pride in a tweet on Sunday (7 May), branding the protestors “absolute babies“.
Stock has previously equated trans people with those who claim to be “trans-racial” or think of themselves as another race.
She has made headlines in recent months, both for her co-founding of The Lesbian Project, a group created exclusively for cisgender lesbians, and for her involvement in upcoming Channel 4 documentary Gender Wars.

Pro-Israel speaker furious after Oxford Union address ambushed by 'bank of hatred' | UK | News News Buzz
Jonathan Sacerdoti (left) is angry at what he sees as a ‘set-up’ (Image: X) A journalist and regular commentator on Middle Eastern affairs believes he was the victim of a “set-up” when he was invited to address the Oxford Union last week – and pointed the finger at pro-Palestinian students who heckled him and hurled abuse throughout his speech. Jonathan Sacerdoti was speaking to Express.co.uk…
