I just finished season 2 of the Owl House for the first time.

There are no words. I love this show. Even though it ripped my heart out, tore it to pieces, healed it, and then lit it on fire in the dumpster can that is my chest cavity.

This entire scene broke me inside. The way they all look is absolutely heartbreaking. Willow is hurt and unsure about what will happen now that they’re in the same situation Luz was. Amity is trying to act dignified as she meets her girlfriend’s mom for the first time, but barely able to hold it together. Gus looks like he’s about to fall apart, while Hunter tries to keep him calm. And Luz? Knowing her friends may never see their home again, is beyond devastated. Owl House/Hunting Palismen things.

Am I the only one who was shocked Luz didn’t realize what she wanted to do with her magic by the end of Hunting Palismen? It kind of caught me off guard, and I think maybe that’s a bit because I think we as the audience get to view her through a different lens than she sees herself... But... She wants to help people right?

That’s been a driving force of her character throughout the show, when you boil it down Luz’s connection to the Boiling Isles is arguably driven by the idea that she has the power to help those around her, a thing that’s harder to do in our world in a way that feels meaningful. Luz’s entire driving force throughout the episode is protecting the Palismen, and then the moment the Golden Guard is in danger she switches over to protecting him. 

And it’s almost an inversion of her greatest doubts. I mean she clearly has a problem with feeling like or perceiving herself as a burden that drives a huge part of her character through the show, especially this season. So the idea of helping people is a thing I don’t even think she realizes she wants? In the same way I don’t think she realizes she’s constantly assuming that she’s a burden (even though she’s clearly helping the people around her).

I dunno I hadn’t seen anybody talking about it, maybe people were and I just missed the post.

Belos has notably smaller ears than all other characters. They are pointed so he isn't human....fully. So I think this officially solidifies the theory that he's a decedent of Phillip. Now how far he's descended is what I'm interested in. In season one we are given the info that Belos took power "50 years ago" (If I remember correctly this is in The First Day in one of the first classes Luz has), meaning he is definitely old. We also got some implications that Witches are longer lived so it's possible he's not that far.

Going off how small his ears are he could either be the son or grandson of Phillip (I have to assume the ear size would even out with each generation but that depends on if the crew would even go that far with detail)
