i can’t draw so i’m going to need you guys to imagine ornithologist soap who uses the fact that his boyfriend ghost is a barn owl hybrid to better study wing anatomy.

I wanted to have their refs here so people can find them relatively easily and not have to go digging through their Toyhouse galleries to find them lol. If anyone ever wants to draw them, you are very much encouraged to do so!! Same goes for asks about my characters! Those are always welcome as well!!

Cain (ga’hoole)

Owl cain is a sooty owl and a trans dude who uses he/they/it. He colors his own feathers with plants, his base color is black with whiteish face n underbelly. He used to be in St aegolius, where he was raised as 18-3. They were captured when they were a chick but were forced to kill their parents when they tried to save him. He got saved by Soren and his gang when trying to save Eglantine. Cain helped kill the owls that tried to attack them while they saved Eglantine bc Soren saving his sister reminded him of his parents. Now he is in search and rescue and is one of the best fighter in Ga’hoole, but he has a dark penchant for sadism in fights due to his time at St Aegolius.

Tailslide (wings of fire)

Tailslide is nonbinary and uses they/them and sometimes neon/neons/neonself. They are a sky/night/rain hybrid. They used to be just a nightwing, but they got enchanted by Darkstalker to be an hybrid (he’s neons boyfriend). They lived in darkstalker’s time and got enchanted by darkstalker to be immortal. Darkstalker never got enchanted to sleep in neons timeline and darkstalker is king of the nightwings. They were born on a bloodmoon and can see how people die, but they can also spit venom and fire. They r really good at flying.

Gore (warrior cat)

He’s a tom and the son of scourge (he doesn’t know who his mother is). He was in bloodclan but after the battle he just leads a little group of loners in the city. He is in love with Longtail but he doesn’t want to become a clan cat. Longtail doesn’t know if he should be with him bc gore still is a bloodclan warrior and he wants longtail to join them in the city. 

Neon Boom

A pegasus!! Genderfluid, doesn’t care about pronouns. She’s a worker in the RAINBOW FACTORY and wants to kill rainbow dash to take her place as leader of the rainbow factory, but also kind of has a crush on her. She’s faster than anyone but rainbow dash. In her universe all the mane five are their evil creepypasta variant. She’s rly pretty and Rarity loves to make her kool emo clothes. She’s also friend with nightmare moon, the mane six works for nightmare moon to take over celestia.

is there anyone who would want to listen to me rant about my minecraft-dnd inspired au consisting of a group of 16-18 year olds who decided “fuck society, we’re going on an adventure bitches!” and the team consists of one girl from the upper working class who’s an ender dragon-star firefly hybrid and her friends are a bunch of heirs from her kingdom split into five different sections based on origins, and they consist of a snowy owl-siamese cat hybrid who is the team’s resident cleric-mage, the eldest heir of the central region and they have an emotional support boyfriend who is transmasc and is the eldest heir of the aerolium reigion who’s the team’s emotional support (who is cursed to turn into a giant hawk-honey-bee hybrid beast when he’s distressed), then we have an enderman-shulker hybrid who is the cat-owl hybrid’s adopted younger brother who can perform enderian-shadow magic (basically the team’s actual mage), then there’s the glow squid-axolotl hybrid princess who is the team’s resident tank and heavy-duty armed shooter with a trident who’s boyfriend (who is the eldest prince of the terrarian region and is a wolf-goat hybrid) went MIA on a self imposed exile due to stealing something from the kingdom’s museum (that may or maynot have an impact on the team’s plot and relationship), and then we have blaze-nether bee twin princes; the older twin is the team’s bard and has a genuinely good voice (and may or maynot be in a relationship with the ender dragoness and later into a poly relationship with another character later introduced), and the younger twin is the team’s resident mechanic and redstone contraptionist, and is arsonist buddies with the axolotl-squid princess

Usually a hybrid’s animal features would probably give away their emotions, but Minho learned to control his ears and tails really well

It’s just that his ears are really sensitive and they flick around every few seconds whenever he’s in a crowded place

He has a pair of yellow eyes that are constantly in the shape of slits simply because he wants to intimidate everyone around him

Also always has his claws out because they intimidate strangers

Wouldn’t tell anyone, but Minho lets his pupils dilate when he’s alone with you (´∀｀)♡

He also likes to tease you a lot but you know he’s just joking because if he was serious, his tail wouldn’t be so related

You try not to tell him because then he’ll start working harder to hide his tail swishes

Is the most precious yet teasing boyfriend out there

He’ll make a joke about you eating a lot of ice cream whenever you’re sad, but he’ll always have your favourite ice cream in the freezer

If you complain about some kind of muscle pain, Min would call you weak but then also come home with muscle relief patches that he’ll stick to you himself

Minho likes to shift into cat form if you’re stressed because then it means that he wouldn’t really disturb you a lot

His footsteps are way quieter when he’s in cat form as compared to human form

So if you’re stressed or tired and you ask him to give you time

Minho would shift and hide in one of the cat towers he bought for himself until he hears you coming out of the bedroom

The moment he hears the sound of the bedroom door opening, he’ll lift his head and peek out from the top

If you sit on the floor right in front of the tower, Minho will scurry off of the tower to sit in your lap to

But if you don’t even look at the tower and you instead go to the kitchen, he’ll wait a bit longer to give you more time

Yk I wanna say he’d be some cursed Dwaekki hybrid the skzoo dwaekki haunts me in my sleep

But I genuinely feel like he’d be something really threatening like a wild animal

So if Chan’s a husky and Minho’s a maine coon

I’m gonna throw Changbin in as a grizzly bear because he’s a tank of a man and I love him for that

His ears are dark brown and rounded, poking out from the top of his head

His eyes are super dark brown and sometimes you can’t even tell if you’re able to see the white in his eyes bcs his pupils are just that big

His hands have these huge black claws that could claw someone apart if he wanted to

Also has a cute brown tail that he often hides underneath his clothes because it’s small enough for him to sit on

He gives THE BEST CUDDLESSSS!!!!!

Sometimes shifts into bear form just to cuddle you because it’s cold and relying on the heater might make it too warm

So Binnie likes to use his own fur to warm you up if he notices you shivering

Also would not hesitate to bear his teeth at anyone who tries to hurt you

Changbin doesn’t really tell anyone this

But one of his proudest bear traits is his ability to vocalise like a bear

Which means that whenever he feels the need to protect you or whoever’s around him

He will growl like a bear

And it’s terrifying

You didn’t even know that Changbin could roar until one night when a stranger wouldn't take your ‘no’ as an answer and your boyfriend almost lost his mind

He pulled you behind him and grabbed the collar of their shirt and just roared at them

The stranger being a hybrid of a smaller bear species immediately scrambled off

But Changbin also immediately switches back into sweet, cuddly boyfriend the moment he turns back to you <3

Hyunjin

A sphynx hybrid

Very dramatic

Very loud

He has pink cat ears sticking out of the top of his head with a little black splotch on his left ear

He also has this naked pink tail that sticks out from underneath his shirt

Every minor inconvenience and Hyunjin’s meowing and whining to you about it and you think it’s funny every time he does

Like the time he misplaced his sock and was crying all over your shared home looking for it until he found it underneath the bed

His claws are retractable, so he usually hides them because he doesn’t want to hurt anyone on accident unlike Minho

He’s VERY cuddly both in human form and cat form

Hyunjin likes to do the ‘kneading the dough’ thing whenever you’re cuddling

And ends up leaving holes in your clothes because his claws would accidentally grab onto the fabric

Would also feel really bad afterwards because now he’s ruined your shirt

You reassure him that it’s fine

But Hyunjin’s dramatic also kinda wants an excuse to go shopping with you

So he cries about it and it leads to him dragging you to the mall so that he can buy you a new one

Ends up getting distracted at a cat cafe because he’s made conversation with one of the cats there

And he’s basically talking to them like he’s a middle aged wine mom talking about their weird husbands

You have to remind him what the goal is

But he’s so immersed in the conversation with the orange tabby that you can only watch in amusement

Hyunjin’s talking to it in English while the cat nods with it’s tail swishing every time he asks it a question, mewling every once in a while as a response

You watch with a smile on your face, chin resting against the palm of your hand as you listen

You can only gather that Hyunjin’s telling the cat about why you’re at the mall

And the cat turns to you with a bored expression on its face before meowing

“She says good luck on finding a new shirt”

You nod and reach out to pet the cat’s head as thanks

You and Hyunjin leave after a while

And soon, the trip to get one shirt turns into a shared shopping spree

Kinda obvious but he’s a squirrel hybrid

He has a pair of rounded, light brown ears on the top of his head

A bushy light brown tail that bumps into everything whenever he’s in cramped spaces

And the CUTEST pair of brown eyes EVERRRRR

His squirrel trait is where he gets the habit of stuffing food into his cheeks whenever he eats

Ji’s really good at climbing

So he has this long ass piece of wood that he keeps in the living room of his home so that he can still climb something in squirrel form if he can’t go outside

He also has tiny black claws that he uses mainly for practicality when he's in human form

So stuff like cutting into plastic, through strings and to open mail

He just slides his finger across the top of the envelope and boom

Jisung’s quite clumsy

It doesn’t help that he has this huge, bushy tail behind him

He bumps you with it a lot and he’s always so apologetic over it

But it’s fine because it’s his tail and it’s soft and cute and it’s part of Jisung UwU

There were a couple of times where you would wake up and his tail would be tickling your sides

So you’d wake up giggling

And it would wake him up too

He’d turn around and immediately wrap his arms around your waist to cuddle into you

You love playing with his ears

Jisung’s really responsive whenever you pet his squirrel features

So if you touch his tail in public

He’s jolting forward like AHHH

And you like to gently rub his ears whenever you’re cuddling

Jisung usually ends up cuddling into you more because he really likes it whenever you play with his ears

He has a habit of making those squirrel squeaks whenever he’s uncomfortable

So in public, if he feels like he’s overwhelmed or wants to leave

He’ll cling onto your arm and start squeaking softly so that only you’re able to hear

And it’s an easy way for you to know that he wants to leave without him actually telling you

Felix

Horned owl hybrid

He has two sets of white and brown feathers that poke out from the top of his head and curls to the back

He does, however, have talons at his fingertips that he doesn’t really like because it gets caught on a lot of things

Has feathers running down his arms, but can’t actually fly in human form

His eyes are this beautiful amber colour

He also has a lot of hanging stuff in his house that he likes to fly back and forth to whenever he shifts into owl form

Absolutely loves doing the head spinning trick because you freaked out the first time you saw him do it as a human

Felix also has really light footsteps

So sometimes you don’t even hear him coming into a room and suddenly he’s beside you

Which scares you sometimes

Overall, Felix is just unintentionally scary.

Buuuut

Because he has really good eyesight at night

And because he’s nocturnal

He sleeps in the day

Which means that all of his work is done at night while you’re asleep

His hearing is intense which means that he could hear the smallest pin dropping in the kitchen from the bedroom

So when he hears something strange coming from the kitchen

He’s immediately crawling out of bed and peeking out of the bedroom door

That’s when he sees a spider crawling out from behind the fridge

A huge spider

Now, Felix does NOT like spiders

But he knows that if you wake up in the middle of the night to get a drink, then you’re going to be freaked out by too

But he should be able to toss it out the window in owl form

So Felix pops open one of the windows and shifts

His silent flying and sharp night vision make it a quick mission that’s executed without much hassle

He manages to grab the spider with his talons and just tosses it straight out of the window

By the time Felix has returned to the bedroom

You’ve woken up because you realised he wasn’t beside you anymore

So he climbs back into bed and lets you hold onto him while you fall back asleep

Seungmin

Labrador hybrid

Has a pair of golden ears flopping over the top of his head

Also has a golden tail that he usually hides because if he gets over excited then it’ll wag all over the place and might bump into things

Is a relatively quiet person and is also a quiet dog

He doesn’t say or bark that much

But you’ve come to learn how to read his body language

Because his posture both in human form and dog form speak his thoughts

Like whenever he’s standing tall then you’ll figure that Minnie’s probably uncomfortable or feels threatened

As quiet as he is

He’s extremely attentive to your needs as well

Seungmin’s able to catch your body language way quicker than you are at reading his

Which means that the moment you look uncomfortable, he’s immediately moving to stand beside you with an arm wrapped around you

Think of it as that TikTok trend that’s like ‘using my scary dog privilege’

In this case

Seungmin’s more than happy to be the scary dog that lets you walk around alone

He’d bark and bite at anything or anyone who would try to hurt you

Even in human form, he’d growl as a warning to other animal hybrids that are around you

Whenever you’re out in public, Seungmin tries to stay by your side just in case anything happens

But when he has to part from you to talk to another group of your friends

He keeps you in his line of sight

He’d always angle himself in conversations so that the person he’s talking to has their back facing you so that he’s able to see you

And when a cat hybrid suddenly approaches you

Seungmin’s more on the attentive side but he hasn’t gone into protective mode because you don’t look uncomfortable

But then your frame starts to shrink

He immediately changes his posture

Which scares the people around him because suddenly, Seungmin looks so scary

He waits a moment longer and the moment you start looking around the room for him, he’s shoved his drink into the hands of Hyunjin so that he can make his way over to you

He slings his arm over your shoulder and glares at the cat hybrid who’s now extremely intimidated by the presence of the labrador hybrid

Seungmin leans close to the cat and growls at them until they run off

He stays with you for the rest of the night and the way he stays in protective mode makes you feel safe

Until you get home and Seungmin’s back to this ball of cuddle fluff that you absolutely love (｡♥‿♥｡)

Jeongin

Fennec fox hybrid

Has a big pair of white fluffy ears that poke out of his head

Has a fluffy white tail that blends into a more golden colour that’s long enough to poke out from underneath his shirt

He has super insane hearing

Even if he has headphones in, he can hear the outside world

Bodes well for him because whenever you walk into his apartment, he’ll walk out immediately to greet you

He never actually feels hot or warm because his body heat radiates off of his ears

Is always cold in human form

In fox form, his fur insulates his body instead so he doesn’t feel much of a difference

Has a habit of not drinking for hours because he can get stuck in his fox form

Also has a habit of chewing on your desk plants if he deems them edible

Unfortunately for you, that means you’ll come home to your beautiful plant babies half eaten and munched away because your fox boyfriend wanted a snack

To solve this problem, you filled the fridge with berries and vegetables for whenever he feels like snacking

But sometimes he goes overboard and he pretty much eats everything he can find when he forgets to eat for a while

He’s a fox hybrid that doesn’t know how to shift on command

Usually he has this big urge to shift but he’ll be stuck in one form for a while before being able to switch

He doesn’t know any other fox hybrids

So Jeongin has to learn to control his animalistic instincts with the help of you!

Miraculous Ladybug/Monster High Crossover Idea

As a person that grew up with Monster High, I can tell you that I loved it so much. But I definitely prefer the old Monster High to the version from the two most recent movies for it. But I definitely loved the concept of the children of monsters all attending high school away from the “normies.” Aka, regular humans.

Plus, I was inspired by the movie, Freaky Fusion, since it had hints that hybrid monsters were not liked by regular monsters. There was not a lot of that type of discrimination in the movie, so I thought of my idea.

So, when I was thinking of what could be a cool new idea for a Miraculous crossover, Monster High eventually came to mind. Each of the characters could be turned into a monster and their school could be another school for monsters.

Marinette could be the daughter of the White Tiger from Chinese mythology. Since it is said that the tiger is supposed to come when there is peace on earth, Marinette could have the power to spread peace to whoever she touches. Adrien could be a light elf. Since light elves are said to be “fairer than the sun to look at” he could have the power turn into light. Alya could be a blogging ghost that thinks she searches for truth but believes many of the rumors that she hears. She is like Spectra from Monster High. Nino could be Alya’s banshee boyfriend. But Nino would prefer making real music than just using his horrible scream like his ancestors. Chloe could be a mermaid that gains legs when she is dry. She would still have her giant ego since is one of the more “beautiful” monsters. 

Some of my original characters will also be included once again. Lyon is a siren that only uses his hypnotic voice only on bullies or to just get people to leave him alone if they are insufferable. Vallia is a butterfly girl since she inherited a long lost trait of their family that descended from Eros and Psyche. Mason is a dragon and ice spirit hybrid, meaning that he looks like a dragon boy but with fire that freezes instead of burns. Apollo is a cupid and naiad hybrid, meaning he can summon wings of water while also being able to create love potion arrows. And Lena is a nymph/centaur hybrid, meaning she is half horse while also having nature powers. Other characters from the show would also be made into Monster High monsters as well. Marc is a satyr that loves to write. Luka is a siren while Juleka is his half sister who is a vampire. Kagami is the daughter of a Valkyrie general. Kim could be the son of a giant that actually has the power to grow or shrink as he sees fit. Nathaniel could be dryad that loves to draw using naturally made materials. Rose is a nymph. And Lila could be a harpy that usually lies and tells people she is an angel.

The main idea that I have is a salt fic that focuses more on Chloe Salt than Lila Salt. I still hate that liar, but I also hate Chloe since she is nothing but a spoiled brat that never faces any consequences for her actions.

So, Chloe believes that she is the queen bee of the school, with her zombie Sabrina minion always doing as Chloe wants no matter what it was. Her father could be the current ruler of a merpeople kingdom outside of Atlantis. So, she believes that she has some form of control over the school. And with the principal, the cowardly owl-man Damocles, and their main teacher, the victim-blaming and bully-coddling air spirit Bustier, both bending to her will, it makes her believe it even more.

Chloe has an extreme hatred of hybrids. She thinks that they are freaks of nature that do not belong in the world. So, when Lyon, Vallia, and their friends join their school, she is furious that they were allowed to attend. Her attitude only gets worse when the boy that she is obsessed with, Adrien, makes friends with them.

Adrien is actually very interested in the new students. He really likes how all of them were a type of hybrid. Even the Greek twins since both had siren and Olympian DNA inside of them even if Lyon was more siren and Vallia was more Olympian. He, Marinette, Alya, and Nino all are good friends with the the hybrids.

But the more that Adrien hangs out with the hybrids, the angrier that Chloe gets and the more she desires to have them out of the school. She tried to just go to the principal and demand that they all are expelled for the simple reason that they are hybrids. But since all of them are protected by the monster council of their home country, all of the still being from Greece, Damocles can not do what Chloe demands for once. And that only makes her want them gone even more.

All of them had already established that as long as she thought herself above everyone else, they would not even give her the time of day. And they had also been helping Adrien stand up to her more. The prime example when he actually yelled at her to stop jumping all over him and grabbing his arms even after all the times that he has told her that he hates it when she does it. And even when she still tries to do it after that, Adrien starts using his power to turn into light to get away from her.

Since the hybrids had arrived, it is made clear how little the other students actually think of Chloe. None of them like her, or are even scared of her since her father has no power over them or any of their monster kinds. Sabrina is the only person that even thinks that she is as great as Chloe brags about being.  Chloe is forced to sit alone at lunch, with only Sabrina around, since everyone leaves whatever table she sits at. 

And with the hybrids still in contact with their parents back in Greece, they all know about what has been happening at the Paris monster school. So, the Greek monster council starts to get involved. They bring the problem to the French council and they get involved with the school. That takes away Damocles’s power as now the other teachers no longer have to fear getting fired for punishing the mermaid menace. The other teachers start scolding her for her bullying nature while Bustier remains as the only one that still treats Chloe as a misunderstood angel. But that only gets her investigated as well by the council and monster school educational board.

As Chloe starts to get angrier and angrier, she actually goes up to the hybrids when they had been alone and demands that they all leave “by order of the merpeople kingdom.” But that only makes them laugh right in her face and tell her that they know that she does not have any real power in the school or even in her kingdom as well. There happens to be a merman on the French monster council and he goes to Chloe’s kingdom to set the government system there back to normal. Aka, they kick Chloe’s father out of office for abuse of power.

That really set off Chloe into a screaming tantrum saying that they had no right to interfere with “her reign” over the school. She calls them a bunch of anti-hybrid words. The recently hired new principal hears her and she is soon expelled.

Oh well, nobody liked her anyway.

And behind the scenes while Chloe was throwing her many tantrums, Lila was exposed as a harpy and not an angel by the hybrids. Since they were from Greece, they knew a harpy when they saw one. And maybe a hypnotic song by Lyon to force her to tell the truth had also helped. But he would only smirk instead of answering if he was ever asked about it.

Thank you for all the feedback from my last fic :3 I really don’t have any explanation for this other than....yeah...Spencer during lockdown haha.

Summary: Spencer and Y/N Have been living in their own private bubble during lockdown. YN has discovered a game and initially Spencer shows no interest...

There wasn’t much to say about the last few months other than they had been… weird. Weird on a global scale. You almost couldn’t believe how quickly everything went from normal to complete lockdown and watching the news every night had set you into complete panic mode. Both you and your highly germ-phobic boyfriend were more than happy to comply with the necessary restrictions. Spencer’s rational and calm mindset kept you both prepared and he did everything possible to reduce your anxiety. You would be forever grateful to have him by your side at such a horrible time.

For you the hardest adjustment was not seeing your work friends every day. It was odd to not spend every waking moment surrounded by all the people you loved the most. You didn’t realise just how much you would miss them despite seeing them all the time anyway. Friday night became the highlight. Your team, set up by Garcia, started a weekly quiz whereby everyone joined a Zoom call and one member was chosen to deliver a set of questions. Granted, it took Rossi a few failed attempts to be both seen and heard on camera, but you had all got it working in the end. Garcia’s quiz was based on cute, fluffy cartoon characters, Rossi delivered a mastermind style quiz all about the ratpack, Hotch surprised everyone with an in depth quiz about the employees of the FBI (where you realised he knew way more about personal lives of his colleagues) and you did pop culture through the ages. You had warned Spencer that ‘the history of the atom’ wasn’t in keeping with the Friday night spirit, and despite being met by many groans, he ended up presenting a fun and engaging quiz where losers had to take a shot for every question wrong. No surprise that he was the only one still standing by the end.

 The truth was that despite all the chaos and uncertainty, you realised that you were lucky to have so much time spent with the man you loved. Sure, you worked together, but that was as professional as you both could manage. Stolen kisses at the back of the jet and shoulder squeezes were as close as you could get whilst working. But at home, you both had free reign of each other. You were both night owls, sleeping through most of the sunshine. You spent your evenings playing chess, re-watching old horror movies and having a lot of sex. You were sure that you were keeping your local Thai restaurant in business, living mainly off that and tubs of ice cream. It was almost therapeutic spending your time lounging around in your comfortable clothes. Hours would pass while you both sat reading in silence (you, a few chapters, Spencer, a novel or three…), his arm slowly brushing the inside of your leg as you read. On the more anxious nights, Spencer would do absolutely anything to calm you down, making sure you were okay. He’d perform Shakespeare, teach you how to cheat cards, read to you in different languages and even let you braid the ends of his hair.

 You were very sure you were going to marry Spencer Reid.

 There was one of your hobbies that he didn’t quite understand. In the first few weeks at home, you had invested in a Nintendo Switch, mainly from the push of Garcia but you had been eyeing it up since it first came out. You spent many nights on animal crossing visiting Garcia and her magic candy land island. It was one way to experience the outside world without actually being there. There was something wholly therapeutic about going fishing, planting flowers and giving gifts to your wonderful animal villagers.

 Spencer, of course, didn’t really understand the appeal. Despite having the most wonderful brain you’d ever met, he seemed to have a block when it came to technology. He never discouraged you playing, but always looked over your shoulder with a furrowed brow whenever he saw you.

 “See that, y/n, there’s no way all those fossils would be in such close proximity to one another in such a small area.” He commented on more than one occasion. “What use is archaeology when they are just there on the ground for you to see?”

 “Spence, it’s a fictional world, I really don’t think they took into account geographical locations of fossils…” you couldn’t help but laugh whenever you spoke about it.

 “Don’t even get me started on the physical anatomy of these animals! How disproportioned they are from the real thing! And the colours, y/n! Have you ever met a purple tiger before?”

 You knew that he meant no harm from his remarks and was probably getting enjoyment out of it. So you’d shrug, offer him a turn and wait for some comment about how he was going to read an FBI report from 1987 again, and open your switch back up once he was distracted.

 One night, you had stayed up late to make wishes on your island. You really needed the star fragments to craft your new DIY recipes and had spent hours posed in position, ready to make a wish. You hadn’t realised that you were falling asleep and your switch was falling out of your hand, until…

 “YES! YES! Take that you stupid arachnid!” you heard a shout.

 Waking up and looking to your left, you blinked in amazement to see Spencer sat with your switch gripped between his fingers.

 “Spence? What are you doing? Are you okay?!” Many sleepless nights and bad dreams had left you very susceptible to fear when you heard shouting.

 He looked over to you and his cheeks flushed. “Oh, y/n, honey I didn’t mean to wake you I’m sorry! It’s just you fell asleep with your game in your hand, I went to turn it off and ended up talking about the stars with this wonderful little owl… She just tells you all these facts. And they are accurate, too! I even wished upon a star.”

 “That’s Celeste.” You commented, and yawned. “Spence, what time is it?”

 He squinted at the screen before replying, “4am.”

 You laughed. “And how long have you been playing animal crossing?”

 His focus went back to the screen but he carried on talking to you. “Oh, a few hours now! I’ve just caught a tarantula, the stupid son of a bitch bit me before! Did you know they could bite you in the game? I was just running around trying to get my bearings and it ran up behind me and bit me. But I showed it who’s boss. And hey! It turns out I was wrong about the fossils, in a sense..”

 You raised one eyebrow, “Dr Reid, wrong?”

 “Well, not wrong exactly. It’s still highly unlikely that they would be so close together, so close to houses, and be found in just one dig. But I took one to the museum after I dug it up and was really surprised. I hadn’t realised how accurate the information provided was about these fossils! And the details in the display, too! You’ve got yourself rather an impressive collection, y/n.”

“Mhmm.” Tiredness was setting in but listening to Spencer talk about your game was more than entertaining. You sat up slowly, leaned across and rested your head on his shoulder. “What else have you been up to?”

 “Well I recalculated the position of some of your flowers to maximise chances of getting hybrids. I know purple is your favourite colour so I looked into the best way to get purple flowers!” Spencer was speaking in that quick, animated tone that told you he was really into something. “I even researched the quickest and most beneficial ways of befriending your villagers to maximise the gifts that they give you. I spent a lot of time talking to the Raymond character.”

 “Raymond reminds me of you, y’know. Dapper, sophisticated, looks great in glasses…” you replied, nudging his shoulder with your forehead. “How did you find out all of this?”

 “Well, I read the whole Nookipedia website and that gave me a pretty good idea.” He turned to you and grinned. Of course, the genius had become the master of your favourite game in a matter of hours. “You can test me on any of the villagers’ names and personality types.”

 You looked down and saw piles of notepaper, all scribbled on, splayed out across the bed. You picked one up entitled ‘terraforming.’ Instead of trying to decipher Spencer’s handwriting, you decided to ask him about it. “Spence… what’s all this paper? What are these drawings?” You tilted your head and the paper simultaneously to try and get a better understanding of his scribbles.

 “Oh! I’ve been looking into reshaping your island. I came up with a few designs I thought you might like. My personal favourite is the honeybee, cos I know they are your favourite, so I calculated how we can use the terraforming tool to turn your island into a bee. Garcia would be so jealous and…” he trailed off.

 “What’s the matter?”

 He looked back at you with big puppy dog eyes. He chewed on his bottom lip a little before he spoke. “I’ve gone too far, haven’t I? This was your game, your private space, I never meant to take over. You really have done a great job…”

 All you could do was laugh. You leaned over and planted a reassuring kiss on his cheek. “Honestly? I’m really happy that you’re into this now. It means I can talk to you about it. Just you wait until you see Garcia’s island!”

“Really, you’re not mad at me?”

“It would be impossible to be mad at you, Spence. Maybe we’ll set up your own character now.”

And with that, you kissed him again, nuzzling into the comfort of his arm. “Show me what else you’ve been doing…”

you crossed your arms staring down at Seungmin, the annoying Shiba Inu hybrid that you had the misfortune to be around since pre-school

yes, canine and feline hybrids are considered natural enemies

but Seungmin and you took this rivalry to the next level in 1st grade after he placed some black eraser shavings on your hair and spread the rumour that you had fleas

you hated Seungmin with all your being and never forgave him for being such a coward liar

you had the worst years of your life after his prank until you were finally transferred to another school, a bigger one, before high school started

but your luck didn’t last long since Seungmin became your classmate the following year after being transferred

and you hated him even more because he wouldn’t leave you alone

even if you complained about it, you were seen as the “bad hybrid” because he was everyone’s favorite, including your teachers

so you had to put up with Seungmin again

but you were glad you’re both seniors now and in a few months you’ll get rid of him forever

“this is my seat” you had just placed your backpack on the seat and got off the bus to drink some water at school before leaving for the field trip

you didn’t expect him to be occupying your spot

“I didn’t see your name on it” you rolled your eyes at Seungmin's childish answer

“my backpack was on it, idiot”

“your backpack was on both seats”

“yeah, cause I didn’t want a mutt sitting next to me”

“take your seats, we’re leaving in a minute!” your owl hybrid teacher said and went to the back of the bus to start counting the students

“find another seat” you told the annoying boy

“take your seat” your teacher said with a serious face and hooded eyes

you sighed in misery, plopping down next to Seungmin and almost crushing your backpack

“I hate you” you hissed feeling your claws coming out to strike him, but you kept your hands to yourself

“I couldn’t care less about your feelings for me” Seungmin gave you a too polite smile and put on his huge headphones

the idiot had taken your seat by the window, so you had to travel with people nudging your shoulder every time they got up to go to the bathroom or take something from the minibar in the back of the bus

you were regretting going on this field trip already, it’s not like you’re actually needing those extra points

when it comes to grades, being lonely and friendless pays off since you have no one to interrupt your studies or invite you to cool parties on the weekends

and that’s something you should thank Seungmin for

he may have ruined your social life when you were six, but at least you’re gonna have a brilliant career in the future

“just because we’ll be with our DNA family doesn’t mean that we’re equal, so don’t be too cocky, alright?” you all nodded “then let’s go”

you all began walking the trail to the shelter and you decided to stay beside your teacher just in case Seungmin tried anything with you today

you’d be unsupervised pretty much this entire field trip, so you had no idea what to expect from him and his antics

once you reached the animal shelter, the workers were there to welcome the group

there were some human caretakers, including the supervisor, who greeted you all with a lot of enthusiasm

he explained how and why he started the shelter, giving a brief summary of its history and doings

you tried paying attention, but there was one of the human caretakers that caught your attention and you couldn’t take your eyes off of them

you sniffed the air discreetly and their scent reached you

he had a feline kind of smell

“shall we split this great group?” the supervisor clapped his hands in excitement

“caprines and equines over here, please” one hybrid caretaker raised her hand and a couple of people gathered around her

“porcines with me” two people went there

“birds over here” more students left you behind

“canines this way” a caretaker called and almost everyone went his way

“felines?” the cute human looked around and you raised your hand shyly

“there’s only you?” they asked coming your way

“y-yeah, I guess”

“hm, I think we might need some help, there’s too many felines for you to take care of”

you thought that maybe they could be your only help

it would be really nice being around them the entire day and having their exclusive attention

“I think I can handle” you said rubbing your arm in embarrassment

“I don’t doubt that, but having help is gonna be better, trust me” they answered and told you to wait for a bit while they went to pick another student

not long after the human was back with Eugène, a Percheron hybrid with French bloodline and you sighed in relief

everything was flowing like a calm river

your day was going great and you found out Eugène was really nice, but maybe it was because it’s the first time you’re talking to each other

the cute caretaker complimented you many times in the way you were handling the tiger cubs and you couldn’t feel happier

you all had to stop your activities for lunch and gathered at the main entrance of the shelter

your teacher gave more instructions you clearly weren’t paying attention to, and the group walked to the restaurant at the main house

Seungmin was already there picking his food, and you decided to stall a little bit just to see where he would seat so you wouldn’t have the infortune of sharing the table with him

but destiny was never in your favor

and when all the students in front of you in line sat among the caretakers, you saw yourself with no place to sit

you even tried sitting at the table with your teacher and the supervisor, but they shooed you away

you would rather sit on the floor than having to eat in Seungmin’s presence, but that would be seen as really rude

so you took a deep breath and marched on his direction

you plopped down without saying anything, and completely ignored him while eating

you never swallowed food so fast in your life, and you were sure you’d be sick afterwards, but desperate times call for desperate measures

but your happiness didn’t take long before you saw him coming over again with two pieces of cheesecake

he put one in front of you and began eating the other

you were too annoyed by now because that’s how he always acts, pretending to be nice around everyone in school when you’re the only one who knows the douche he is

and he’d be stupid to think that you’d eat the cheesecake just because he brought it to you

you finished your food and took your plate away, handing it to one of the kitchen workers behind a tiny window

“your boyfriend already took your dessert”

“my what?!” you exclaimed

“your dessert, the cheesecake” that’s not what you had asked, but you understood what she said the first time

you felt your limbs going numb, but anger soon filled your body, making you move when more students showed up behind you

you went back to the table, rage boiling inside your stomach, and you felt your claws coming out to strike that stupid face staring at you

“you told people we’re dating?! what the hell is wrong with you?!” you tried to be as quiet as possible to not call people’s attention

"they said we're a cute couple, I just thanked them" Seungmin shrugged as if was no big deal

"we're opposites, we don't mingle, we're not even friends!"

"why are you so pressed about it? they'll probably forget it by tomorrow, do you know how many school kids come here in a year?"

"but I won't forget it, Seungmin, I never forget what you do to me" you hissed showing your fangs and left the restaurant, teary-eyed.

you knew Seungmin had offered to switch places with Eugène just to get on your nerves

but you wouldn’t let him know he was winning

so you just focused on your task of taking care of the remaining tiger cubs and moved on to the three young tigers that were on an open space so they’d get used to nature

you didn’t say a word to Seungmin, doing all the work by yourself and not letting him get closer to you

rage was still running in your blood, and you were probably releasing some pheromones unknowingly

and that incited the young tigers

they were becoming more aggressive, but you didn’t notice until you went to feed them and took some time to place the raw meat on the floor

the three of them jumped on you, making you fall on your back

the hungry animals attacked you mercilessly

they were trying to get the meat, but were biting you too in the process

you hissed with your fangs and claws out to shoo them away, but to no avail

you could feel the scratches and bites taking blood out of you

they were hurting you too much

suddenly, a strong growl filled the area, forcing the tigers to turn their attention to the sound

another growl made the young tigers hiss and flatten their ears, getting in position to attack whoever disturbed them

only when they left your body you could get up and see what was actually happening

and you were shocked to the bones

Seungmin was crouching, fists on the floor, body forward, and maintaining eye contact with the felines

his ears pointing up and and he was showing his teeth like and angry dog

you would’ve made fun of him if this was under another circumstance

but since he was saving your life and buying you time to run, that’s exactly what you did

you ran as fast as you could, screaming your lungs out looking for the feline caretaker

they found you quickly and before you could say anything, they were already running towards the sounds of fight

you couldn’t move, still shocked after what happened

when you felt your teacher’s arms around you, you passed out

“thank you” you said when the teacher helped you sit on the bus

“everyone sit so I can count us before we leave” the teacher went to the back of the bus and Seungmin showed up to take his seat

the whole trip was cut short because of what happened, but you didn’t mind

and it was all thanks to Seungmin

“I’ll get up, hold on” you were by the window, his seat on the way here

“no, don’t get up” he took your backpack and his, placing on his lap, and sitting beside you on the corridor “I’m fine here”

there was an awkward silence between you, but as soon as the bus began moving, you let out a deep breath

you looked at Seungmin, who only had a few light scratches on his arms, and sighed

“thank you” you turned your body to face him, your eyes watering “I had no idea you’d help me like that, so thank you”

Seungmin fidgeted on his seat until he placed his face on his hands

you decided to let him be

you shouldn’t expect more of your natural enemy

he had already done too much for you 

and you had already done what you wanted to do, which was to show your gratitude

but Seungmin’s words soon took you off guard

“us hybrid dogs are over excited, we often don’t know how to express ourselves clearly and we’re not really smart sometimes” he let out a small laugh “but we are loyal and we’ll defend those we care about until we die”

“Seungmin… I didn’t know you care this much about me”

“I do, ever since we were kids” he looked at you

“then why were you a jerk back then?”

“because… well, I was a kid and you were so nice and smart and beautiful and kind and everyone was always gushing over you and I got jealous because I wanted you all to myself” Seungmin’s ears and cheeks were red in embarrassment

“you really hurt me, Seungmin” tears were ready to roll on your face, but you held them back

“I’m sorry, I really am”

“we could’ve been friends”

“I know... I ruined all the chances of a long-lasting friendship with you just because I was scared of losing you, but it was too late when I realized it” Seungmin sighed “and I had already lost you by then”

you both sat in silence again

your mind was overthinking the past hours and the past years with Seungmin

until this morning you were absolutely sure the feelings you nurtured for him were hatred in its pure form

but now

now you don’t know anymore

because no one has ever risked his life for you like Seungmin did

and it messed with your head

and now that you know what Seungmin actually feels, you think it’s unfair to keep pushing him away

so you decided to open up your heart just a little bit and give him another chance

a/n: So, I wrote roughly 10,000 words of this whole thing in one day. This was not suppose to be my first published series, but here we are. The prologue is VERY angsty, but I do think it’s important enough to read as it gives context for everything else.

It was about 60 years ago, the U.N. approved of the Genetic Freedom Initiative. The GFI was meant to set the standard in morality in human genetic research worldwide, allowing researchers to explore every lead… no matter where it took them. But the opposite was achieved— it destroyed the any shed of scientific ethics left in that field. 

At first, it was thought that the initiative would open the doorway to the genetic advancement of the human species for the better. Imagine, genetic diseases just gone. Cystic Fibrosis? Wiped out. Hemophilia? A thing only read about in text books. Tay-Sachs disease? Never heard of it. Even things like Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, while not necessarily life threatening, became a distant memory. 

Then came the genetic modifications to ‘improve’ the individual. You want your child to be a musical progeny? Here’s a genetic mutation that will increase their ability to differentiate tone and increase hand eye coordination. Want your child to be an Olympic swimmer? Here’s the genetic cocktail for a long wing span and an increase in lung capacity.

Initially, the world thought that genetic modification would not gain much traction as how costly it was. But all that changed when a team of scientists in Japan created not only a new, cheaper alternative to testing for certain genes, with a 97% positive identification rate, but also a method of implementing the genetic modifications with 95% success rate. Sweden was the first country to take this new method and basically gave the tests out for free to expecting couples to see if their child would be born with a life threatening condition. Sweden then heavily subsidized the procedure to alter the baby’s DNA if the parent or parents wished for it. This quickly made it affordable, not just the modification to prevent diseases, but also the ‘improvements.’

The rest of the world soon followed.

It’s funny. Every genocide in history is birth from two things: good intentions and arrogance.

Humanity thought that because it could take control of its destiny— of nature…. We were arrogant. We believed we could play God and throw the rules that were put into place, the rules that were put into place to protect us, back in Mother Nature’s face. Oh how devastating were the consequences. 

After the ‘improvements,’ came the perverting of genetic modification. ‘Enhancements,’ they were called. The modifications were to improve us, and at first they truly were. Better eyesight borrowed from falcons. Sense of balance from cats. Scientists dabbled in bats’ sense of hearing.

Because of the new Genetic Alteration Boom, no one loud enough took a moment to stop and ask, “Is this right? Should we slow down?”

If they had… the genocide could’ve been prevented.

When the first, ‘enhanced’ babies were born, there was an unintended consequence: their appearance was slightly altered to resemble whatever animal their DNA was spliced with (these features having not been noticed on ultrasounds as they were either still underdeveloped or were written off as shadows). Even as scientists tried to keep the results under wraps, knowing that things would not end well, it was already too late. The world was taken by ‘Hybrid Fever.’

Everyone wanted their children to have cute rabbit ears. Or the graceful legs of a gazelle. Or have the wings of an owl. Or the gils of a shark. It didn’t matter. Ethics had died.

Almost 20 years after the first Hybrid was born, Humanity finally discovered the consequences of playing God: a fourth of the world’s population was infertile, all of them Hybrids. 

Generations had been lost. Capable, loving people were robbed of a joy. All because of Humanity’s desire to play God.

When the news came out that Hybrids were infertile, the genetics industry practically committed suicide. The only remnants left appear to be only… government experiments and black market dealings. What are they doing in th—

You stopped reading. Why the hell did Liam think this would be something you’d be interested in reading? Sure you were interested in his field of work but come on. This was depressing as hell and honestly, you knew most of this from your parents.

There was a knock on the door. “Come in.”

In stepped the doctor and you put your phone away, still seething a little at the article your best friend had sent you.

“Hello, how you today, ma’am? Good to see you again.”

“You too, Dr. Yoon. I’m fine, though I was a bit surprised to receive your office’s call to come in. I thought you usually did consultations on the phone?”

The smile on Dr. Yoon’s face died. She became stiff and the air became heavy. She took a moment and pursed her lips. “I’m sorry.”

Dr. Yoon handed you a paper. It had your lab results as well as your pap smear results. You looked at the numbers and the write-ins. No… this couldn’t be right. It couldn’t be! “W-What is this? This isn’t what… I think it is? Is it?”

“Your fallopian tubes have been severely damaged. I don’t think we can fix it.”

“W-Why— What caused this?”

“In your case we think it’s pelvic inflammatory disease… your general practitioner misdiagnosed it was an UTI… but it wasn’t. You only exhibited symptoms similar to UTI. And your GP took your word that you and your partner are exclusive. I think you had chlamydia. But the antibiotics killed it, but not before it reached your fallopian tubes.”

“B-But h-how could… how could’ve I gotten it? My boyfriend and I have been together for two years. And we were clean when started having sex. We went to the same clinic together to get tested!”

But deep down you knew… you knew Taka had been lying to you. Been lying about the business trips. About the late nights at work… all those weekends spent at the office. You just accepted it because… because you just wanted him to be happy. Besides, you were used to being alone. Why would this be any different?

You wanted to be angry, you really did, but all you could do is mourn the loss of your children… children that would never be. The children that you’d been looking forward to almost forever. You had always believed that love and life were the greatest things in the world… how could you not want children… but that dream… that dream now laid dead. 

Dr. Yoon placed her hand on your shoulder. “Is there anyone you want me to call? I don’t want you to be alone right now.”

You shook your head. “No… no I have someone I can call.”

“Alright, dear. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do.”

She nodded her as she stepped out of the room. Immediately, you pulled out your phone, dialing the one number you could think of. You waited a few moments before you heard the familiar voice, “Hey, Shortstack, you miss me?”

“Li—“ you paused taking a deep breath. “Liam? Can you come pick me up?”

The usual playful tone was gone. “Shortstack? What’s wrong?”

“I’m at the OB/GYN. Could you please just come get me.”

You heard the jingle of keys in the background. “What’s wrong? Where’s Taka? Why isn’t he with you?”

All too quickly and sharply, you replied, “Fuck Taka!”

There was a pause. “I’ll be there in 15. Hang tight.”

You hummed a sound on confirmation. Liam cut the call and you left the examination room. After paying for your visit, she sat waiting for Liam, your results clutched in your hand, the other unconsciously rubbing the spot on your stomach where life should’ve been created. You were like a seesaw, swinging between anguish and numbness. Your mind granting you spells of blankness, no thoughts in your head. Nothing to bury yourself even further. 

When Liam picked you up, he managed to pry the results from your hand, the look on your face making it evident that you were in no mood to talk about what was wrong. Looking over the results (being medically trained had its advantaged), Liam cursed, scaring the bejesus out of a pair of old ladies. “I’m going to fucking kill him.”

Before Liam could do anything else, you latched onto his jacket. He looked down at you and into your hollow eyes. “C-Can I stay at your place, just for tonight?”

“Shortstack, you can stay as long as you want. Let’s go.”

You nodded, letting Liam guide you to his car. Once in the car, you let you head rest on the doorframe, closing your eyes as the world around you both whizzed by. 

Once you were at Liam’s place, he guided you into the house. Nothing could shake you out of you stupor, not even the excited sounds of one of Liam’s roommates, Hoseok. He shouted your name in glee, having not seen you in what felt like ages. Before Liam could protest, Hoseok pulled you into a hug, his fluffy tail wagging at a million miles per hour as it smacked against the verdana in the entry way. 

When you didn’t hug back like you normally did, Hoseok pulled away from you, looking down at your face in concern, his tail drooping down and his ears folding back against his head.

“Hobi, why don’t you take her to the couch and start a movie? I think it’s a movie and puppy pile night tonight.”

Hoseok was about to open his mouth to inquire, especially since Taka didn’t like it when they did puppy pile night, so they stopped doing it. Liam shook his head, telling him no silently— that he’d explain later. Liam headed towards the kitchen, getting a tub of ice cream ready.

As Hoseok guided you to living room, he had you sit down. He helped you remove your shoes and wrapped you in a blanket. You were in too much shock to be much of any help. After settling down next to you and pulling you into cuddle (where you proceeded to finally relax), the front door opened and two voices could be heard entering, both wondering where that salty acidic smell was coming from. Liam intercepted them and told them to go join the puppy pile. A few moments later (after removing their shoes and jackets), the other two Hybrids entered the room. The sight before them ensuring that there was to be no questions at the moment.

Jungkook walked over and joined you on your other side from Hoseok, letting his long floppy ears cushion his head against your shoulder as he wrapped his arm around your waist, little cotton tail twitching as he finds a comfortable position to be in. Taehyung join the fold, sitting down on the ground in front of the couch, resting his cheek against your lap, whimpering lowly as he stroked your knee. You slowly brought your hand to his floppy ears, rubbing them. He let out a content sigh, his tail lightly thrumming against the floor. 

The tension in the room began to dull… and the tears started to fall silently. The boys just sat there, surrounding you in their love and comfort, not knowing what was causing you this grief. 

Liam stood in the doorway, leaning against it, watching you all. His heart was breaking for you. There were two things that you wanted nothing more in the world: to be someone’s one and only, and to have children. Both of those dreams were cruelly taken from you.

Kyle’s Proposal

Characters: Kyle, [Jarred], [Max] and Tomo

Genre: romance

Situation: Exactly what the title says... after a few years of dating, Kyle finally proposes.

Kyle would never admit it - Jarred didn’t even know, but he spent a good couple of years considering how he wanted to propose to his boyfriend. That’s right… I said years. He had been thinking about it since he and Jarred went on their first date. Like I said, he would never admit it. It would sound crazy to anybody that didn’t understand him, maybe even to the people that did understand him. Jarred would probably think it was sweet and romantic, but Kyle just… didn’t want that fact to be known.

Kyle sighed deeply, letting his head fall back while he closed his eyes, envisioning for the millionth time, how he planned to propose. All this time, and he still hadn’t quite… figured things out. Jarred glanced over at him, placing his hand on his lap with a little smile.

“Everything okay?” He asked gently, watching him with worry.

“Yeah,” Kyle said simply, not wanting to give anything away. Jarred continued to watch him with a little frown.

“What’s going on?” He asked.

“Nothing… just thinking.” Kyle opened his eyes up to glance at his boyfriend with a little smile and wrapped an arm around him affectionately, pulling him to press against his side. Jarred studied his eyes for a moment, tilting his head slightly.

“About…?” He asked when Kyle didn’t elaborate. Refusing to give anything away, Kyle just shrugged. Jarred watched with another frown before looking back at the screen. Kyle just glanced at him with one eye then closed it again, letting his head fall back again.

How should I propose? Nothing feels special enough, he thought, getting frustrated. He’d thought of so many different scenarios but none of them even remotely felt right. But he knew he’d figure it out one day.

About a year later, Kyle was bustling around the room. A knock came to the door and he rushed to answer it. Jarred was at work, so he had time to prepare.

As the door swung open, a gruff face stared at him in annoyance.

“You asked me to come?” The man said, strolling into the house without an invitation. “What is this about?” He asked, eyes narrowed at the hybrid. Kyle broke into a smile, which kind of surprised the man.

“I’m glad you’re here, Max. I’m…” Kyle’s voice trailed off as he closed the door and stared at the blonde man. “I’m finally proposing.” Max looked a little surprised.

“Oh?” He asked simply, looking a lot less annoyed suddenly.

“I know how close you and Jare Bear are. I thought maybe you’d like to be here for this.”

“And what if he says no?” Max asked simply, watching the hybrid closely while he obviously struggled with the question.

“If… if he says no… then I guess… we’ll deal with it when it comes.” Max lifted an eyebrow but said nothing. Kyle went to a counter and pulled out a ring box just as another knock came to the door.

“Come in!” Kyle called as he snapped the box open to show Max.

“Do you think he’ll like it?” It was so obvious how scared and nervous Kyle was. Normally, he was one of those overly confident people, but today he was clearly a mess. Max stepped toward Kyle to take the box from him and study the ring. There was an inscription inside of it, To my beloved Jare Bear, I can’t wait for our eternity. Max handed the box back, expressionless as the door swung open. In popped Jay with Tomo hanging off his arm.

“Hey, what’s the emergency? We came as soon as we could,” he asked, leading Tomo toward Kyle and Max. Kyle was blushing as he shoved the ring box toward the couple and they looked up at him in surprise.

“You’re finally proposing?” Jay asked, clearly shocked. Kyle said nothing at first, only nodded. Tomo stepped up to give Kyle a tight hug.

“Congratulations!” She exclaimed happily. “I’m so happy for you.”

“He hasn’t said yes yet,” Max reminded her. She shot him a look before responding, “Don’t worry, Kyle. He will. He adores you.” Kyle blushed a little but handed her the box so she could take a closer look at the ring. Jay glanced at it over her shoulder and wrapped an arm around her.

“It’s nice,” he said simply.

“He’s going to love it!” Tomo reassured Kyle as she handed the box back. Just then, footsteps could be heard at the front door.

“Come in here!” Kyle told the others as he rushed them into the living room. The room was full of Jarred’s favorite flowers in every conceivable color. Balloons littered the ceiling and… was that perfume?

“His favorite cologne,” Kyle told the others as they looked at him in surprise. How much money had he spent on this? Those flowers were not cheap…

Kyle heard the front door open and mouthed to his guests stay put. He rushed to the front door and wrapped his boyfriend in a hug.

“Hey, Jarred!” He greeted, sounding happier than usual. On the other hand, Jarred also heard the tremor in his tone.

“Uh, something wrong?” He asked, eyes worried. Kyle led him toward the living room. The closer they got, the more confused Jarred got.

“Um… what is that smell?” He asked once they were just a few feet away from the room. Suddenly, his eyes widened, then gleamed. “It’s-”

“Your favorite scent,” Kyle said lightly, holding Jarred close. Suddenly, Jare pulled away.

“Were you entertaining someone?” He asked suddenly, a tone in his voice that Kyle couldn’t quite pin down. Kyle lauhed at that.

“Who would I be entertaining? Be realistic, Jare.” Jarred eyed him for a minute before Kyle took his hand and pulled him inside.

Once in the room, Jarred’s eyes immediately went wide as owls’ eyes.

“K-Kyle, what’s all this?” He asked in confusion. His friends were there, there were flowers… and his favorite cologne, which he knew Kyle hated because it was such a strong scent for him. Kyle sneezed a couple of times, wiping his nose on his sleeve-wait. What was Kyle wearing? Jarred’s eyes widened a bit more. “Ky… le…?”

Kyle gazed at his boyfriend with all the love in the world, taking his other hand as well and just watching him for a minute. Max, Jay and Tomo watched quietly, curious to see how Kyle would do this.

Jarred glanced back into Kyle’s eyes, his own still wide with confusion and surprise.

“Jare… Jarred, my love,” Kyle began, his voice trembling with uncertainty and excitement at the same time. Jarred studied his eyes, his own darting between them. He waited to hear what Kyle had to say… why he did all of this… why his best friends, who he barely ever got to see were here. “You know I love you more than anything or anybody, right?” Kyle asked, bottom lip trembling slightly. Jarred mutely nodded, too numb to say anything. That’s when Kyle got down on one knee and, if it’s even possible, Jarred’s eyes went even wider.

“K-Kyle, wha-” Kyle squeezed his hands, licking his lips.

“Nothing will ever make my love for you… stop,” he said carefully. He stared up at his boyfriend, all of his fear evident in his eyes. “I never want to lose you. I… have never felt this way about anybody other than you.” He took a deep breath. “I can’t imagine my life without you in it. You are… everything. The air I breathe. The blood on my tongue.” Kyle paused to kiss Jarred’s hands, then gazed up at him. Jarred’s mouth was open a little as he focused on his boyfriend, his eyes dilated with excitement. “Jarred Lavine… will you be my husband?” Jarred just stood there for a split minute, still too numb from shock to respond. His lips were moving but no words came out as he stared at his boyfriend. Max, Jay and Tomo watched. Tomo was leaning in slightly with anticipation as they waited to hear his answer, though it was clear what it would be.

Jarred grasped Kyle’s face between his hands and kissed him long and hard. When he finally pulled away, he breathlessly told his boyfriend, “I want nothing more.” Beaming, and perhaps crying just a little, Kyle got to his feet. His legs were shaking so bad, he almost collapsed, but Jarred easily caught him, staring into his eyes. Kyle removed the ring from the box and tossed the box behind him, which Jay caught while he watched them quietly.

“Put it on me,” Jarred requested breathlessly while he watched his now fiancee with happy tears glinting in his eyes.

“I am happy to,” Kyle murmured, doing exactly that. Jarred spun the ring round and round on his finger, studying every crevice on it with an ethereal grin on his face.

“I can’t believe-”

“Believe it,” Kyle murmured, lifting Jarred’s face to look into his eyes. “It’s happening. I’m yours. Forever.” And they kissed.

The room erupted into applause from Jarred’s closest friends.

So I’ve been meaning to post more images of my OCs, as I’ve made them in The Sims 4. So under the cut here is exactly that, sans the majority of my vampire OCs and a couple of others that I don’t write about or RP that often. Their names and a little info about them are above their pictures. :3

Myarel, aka my first ever OC. My grouchy demon boy. Has 5 siblings and a ton of cousins. His adoptive parent is his wife’s grandmother, Rowan. Externally grumpy, internally sweet. He and his siblings are Shadow demons.

Colton, a shy cyborg cutie. Is dating Myarel’s youngest sister Keida. Doesn’t like talking about his dad all that much. His right arm from the elbow down and his legs from his knees to about the soles of his feet are metal. His right eye has a small red dot in the pupil that grows when he experiences negative emotions.

Lyn, a blind, polyamorous Southern gentleman. Flirty and independent, and will whack you with his cane if you do something he doesn’t like. Lives with his three lovers on his farm. His father was a fairy, and his mother was a Shadow Demon. He has wings, but rarely exposes them, and can do a bit of magic.

Isaac, a gay former pirate. Prankster, makes stupid jokes, and can often be irritating, but still a sweetie. Adores his boyfriend. Helps Lyn out on his farm, and still loves the sea, though the land will be his home from now on.

Vi, a vampiress. Myarel’s wife and mother of their triplets. Is often told she looks like her grandmother. Adores her family, and acts as an older sister to her younger cousins.

Rose, Vi and Myarel’s daughter. A total Daddy’s girl, and the oldest of the triplets. (She and her siblings are shown here as teenagers, around 14.)

Viktor, Vi and Myarel’s son. Very close to his mom, and the youngest of the triplets.

Axel, Vi and Myarel’s son. As the middle child, he loves to mess with his siblings and parents alike, but he’s still sweet.

Dormir, one of Lyn’s lovers. A vampire who was born with double fangs, giving him a slight lisp. Is protective of his little sister.

Estrella, a mermaid. She’s engaged to Tiburón, and is another of Lyn’s lovers, as well as the mother of the quartet’s children.

Tiburón, a merman. Engaged to Estrella since they were young. Is mute, and speaks through sign language.

Aria, a young vampire, shown here as a teenager. Dormir’s younger sister, and admirer of everything he does.

Esteban, Estrella and Tiburón’s son. Oldest of his siblings, protective over them and Aria alike. (He and his siblings are shown as teenagers here.)

Angelita, daughter of Dormir and Estrella. The middle child of her siblings, she adores all of her parents, and especially adores her aunt Aria, who is more like a sister to her.

Cristobal, son of Estrella and Lyn. Shares his father’s eye color, but not his blindness. The youngest of his siblings, very close to his father.

Erika, Isaac’s older sister. Is kind of a social media celebrity, but she doesn’t care about fame as much as she cares about her brother and father.

Xalia, Myarel’s oldest sister. Likes bright colors, and is sometimes snappy, but cares more about her siblings than anything else.

Zukari, the middle child in Myarel’s family. Quiet, kind of shy, and bad at talking to people. More open around his family than around strangers.

Keida, Colton’s girlfriend and one of the two second-youngest kids in her family. She and Kikaru are twins. She’s more confident than both her brother and her boyfriend and makes them be social.

Kikaru, Keida’s twin and one of the second-youngest kids in his family. Doesn’t enjoy being social, but as he and his sister are usually together, he’s better than he used to be.

Zexion, the youngest child of Myarel’s family. Prefers spending time birdwatching rather than making friends, but is always joined by someone else in his room eventually.

Hexxian, Myarel’s oldest cousin. His nickname is Hexx. He was one of a set of quadruplets, but his sisters died in utero. The spirits of his sisters matured with him, and he’s always had their guidance. Married to Opal. His mother is a Shadow Demon, and his father is a warlock.

Opal, a rare Prism fairy, Hexx’s wife, and Lyn’s former guardian. Kind-hearted and soft-spoken, but not as delicate as she seems. Has helped Lyn glamour part of his farm so he can keep magical creatures in it.

Tarja, Myarel’s cousin. The oldest of her siblings. In the band she and her brothers made together, she plays bass and provides vocals. Genderfluid, mostly presents as female and accepts he/she/they pronouns. As a shapeshifter, she can take any form she wishes, though her eyes stay the same. She and her brothers are Shadow demons.

Xandon, nicknamed Xan. Oldest of Tarja’s brothers. Quiet and bookish. Plays piano and synthesizer for his family’s band.

Nexxan, nicknamed Nexx. The middle child in his family. Hyperactive, funny, and always full of energy. Plays drums in his family’s band.

Vixaine, nicknamed Vix. Second-youngest in his family. Unlucky in love, but believes he’ll find the one someday. Provides lead vocals in his family’s band, and can also play guitar.

Mizane, nicknamed Zane. The youngest in his family. Shy, sensitive, and very attached to his sister. Very rarely sings, but he can. Taught himself to play guitar, and plays it in his family’s band.

Draiman, Myarel’s cousin. Goofy and outgoing, always looking for ways to bug Myarel, but genuinely cares about him. Oldest of his siblings, first to move out of his family’s home. He and his siblings are Shadow demon/ Water demon hybrids.

Liberty, Draiman’s oldest sister and second-oldest in her family. Independent and always creating her own fashion trends. Can’t wait to move out.

Quill, Draiman’s brother. A bit lazy, but mostly just laid-back. Doesn’t worry about anything, even school, but still gets good grades.

Ingrid, Draiman’s youngest sister. Optimistic and outgoing, and always looking forward to tomorrow.

Rowan, a vampiress. Adoptive mother of Colton and Myarel, grandmother of Violet, and great-grandmother to Vi and Myarel’s triplets. She considers herself the mother of anyone who needs one. Youngest of her 12 siblings, and one of the two who survived. Kind and cares for her family.

Everett, aka my self-insert. Isaac’s boyfriend and Rowan’s grandson. Transgender and gay. Is the only one who can successfully play pranks on Isaac without him suspecting anything. Outgoing and always looks out for his twin brother. He and his brother are half vampire and half shapeshifter, and he can shapeshift into a white Cheetah.

Ethan, Everett’s twin and Xan’s boyfriend. Quiet, shy, and mostly scared of new people, but his brother drags him along when he feels he needs to meet people. Despite his shyness, he’s still sweet as can be. Can only shapeshift halfway into a white Cheetah, meaning he has all the characteristics of the Cheetah, but not the body.

Hickory, a shapeshifter that can turn into a Barn Owl, shown here in human form. Is often Rowan’s companion, though she doesn’t know he’s a shapeshifter and thinks he’s a normal owl. Is around 15 years old in human form. Knows he’ll have to come clean to Rowan eventually.

Jolene, nicknamed Buttercup. A Fire demon/succubus hybrid who abstains from using her seduction. Wears her mask to hide facial scars. Zukari is her boyfriend, and she loves him dearly. Also loves her two adopted siblings, Ren and Selene. Mistrustful of most people, but can come around eventually.

Selene, nicknamed Twitch. A Lightning demon/succubus hybrid who hasn’t used her seduction once in her life-- she’s terrible at it, it turns out. Nexx is her boyfriend, the only one who can keep up with her motormouth. Loves making new friends, very hyperactive.

Ren, nicknamed River. A Water demon/incubus hybrid, great at seduction but more content to make friends the normal way. Doesn’t talk much, but is willing to make friends. Despite being the same age as his sisters, he’s extremely protective over them.

Chris, a ghost. Was murdered, though he doesn’t remember who did it. He still has the scars on his chest, but he really isn’t looking for his killer. He’s just happy spending his days with his husband, Paul. Very mischievous, but only toward people he knows.

Paul, a ghost. When he met Chris he was alive, but he won’t disclose his manner of death to anyone, not even his husband. Is a DJ, and is super friendly despite his tendency to scare people who are unprepared.

Chimaera, a humanoid Chimera (lion/goat/snake), seen in a form closest to their normal one. Gender-neutral, will accept any pronouns but prefers they/them. It’s unclear if they choose not to speak, or if they just can’t. Shy and rarely wants to be around people, though they’re comfortable around Lyn.

Dee, a werewolf. She was born as a werewolf rather than turned into one, and as such she can become a wolf at will. Outgoing and loves to meet new people, and of course, loves sparkly things.

Wisteria, a Nature fairy. Lives with Draiman, though the two are just friends. Always surrounded by butterflies, and where her bare feet tread, flowers spring up. Rarely shows her wings to anyone. Is comfortable around people, but is more comfortable around nature.

Amelia, currently a zombie, formerly a shapeshifter who can become a Barn Owl-- and Wisteria’s younger sister. Doesn’t remember her real name, but people who’ve met her gave her the name Amelia. Very shy, and can hardly speak as her voice is raspy. Her cause of death is unclear, but she’s not decaying. Loves animals and doesn’t like killing anything or anyone.

Emily, Amelia’s girlfriend and the daughter of two gay men. She’s outspoken and takes no shit from anyone. Is very strong, and can lift her tiny girlfriend above her head. Thought zombies were all mindless until she met Amelia. Hopes to find a cure one day.

Erin, a dragon shapeshifter and distant cousin to Ethan and Everett. Reclusive, as his temper is not something he likes to show people due to his inability to control his shapeshifting when he’s angry. Is very close to Dementia, who has become his assistant and companion over the years.

Dementia, a Mist demon. She feels a connection to Myarel, though why she feels it is unknown. Has grown close to Erin, helping calm him down when his temper flares and coaxing him out of his dragon form. Hopes to be able to approach Myarel someday, but for now is content helping Erin.

Journey, aka my newest OC. A deer-inspired ball-jointed doll given life by Erin. Is quiet as she doesn’t know how to speak yet, but is also very stubborn. Assists Erin and Dementia when she can, but is independent and longs to explore the world.
