You were once a sperm.
Not really. But let's pretend you were for the sake of the argument, to debunk the pro-choice claim that if zygotes are people, then gametes must be people as well.
First for background, where does this claim come from? It stems from the idea that human beings cannot begin actualizing their potential as people until the material is formed that makes the manifestation of human cognition possible. In other words, until the brain is "born" so that a self-conscious mind may develop, humans are merely potential people.
For instance, premature infants don't have self-consciousness, but we give them the same rights as people, because they have the potential of people. We treat a premie as an actual person because we know that right now they are making their potential into their reality.
Premies actively manifest their potential in their present existence, which is called actualization. If we just protect and sustain them, then over time they will develop, ultimately reaching a target state of being in which we can definitely recognize them as actual people. They have potentiality, also known as active potential.
This is where pro-lifers will insist, but brain birth is not where the process of actualization begins! It's an arbitrary milestone along the continuum of development! If a premie who has undergone brain birth has the potential of a person, then so does the embryo from which the mind emerges!
And that's when pro-choicers will intuitively follow something like this line of reasoning: but zygotes are single-celled embryos, and they're not that different from sperm cells, and they come from sperm cells, so fertilization is also an arbitrary milestone! They'll then retort, if we must pick a milestone, it makes more sense to pick brain birth, because at least it's not just an empty body shell with no potential for a mind.
It's not a bad argument. In fact, on the surface, it appears common sense, so much so that anyone who thinks differently MUST be deluding themselves with some made-up belief, right? They can't prove their case, right?
Wrong. But I'm not going there yet. Let's go back to where we started and just accept hypothetically that the pro-choice position is right, and if you were once a zygote, then you were also once a lone sperm, because your zygote came from your sperm, right?
But where did your zygote come from? A germ cell. So you were a germ cell before you were a sperm. And because you are everything that once carried the potential of becoming you, you must have been an oocyte too. And you must also have been what the germ cells came from, which is your parents. So you were your parents.
This seems absurd! Surely, you think, this absurdity is only more proof that the pro-life position is untenable. But you'd be wrong about that, because this is only proof that you're wrong about what the pro-life position is.
To explain why, we have to examine the difference between possibility and potentiality, or between passive and active potential. And to best do that, let's continue to pretend you were once a sperm.
As a sperm, you had nearly unlimited potential. Every time your father interacted with a new female with a different set of ova you could fertilize, infinite potential paths into the future were generated, and your horizons expanded. Once you were ejaculated into your mother, anything that happened to you could open alternatives for your ultimate destiny, and prove consequential to any of an indefinite set of individuals.
As a fully developed sperm, you had already attained your peak form, and now you could become anyone. You were static, and your sole goal was to propel yourself forward. Your potential for progress was bounded by the space you happened to exist within, and your potential for change was constrained to your proximity to an ovum. If and when you changed, you'd cease to exist.
You could not activate your potential independently, so your potential was merely hypothetical possibilities. It was passive potential. The nature of your potential was generative, broadening your set of possible futures with every spatial relation. If kept alive and not killed, you would not self-actualize into a particular individual. You could be anyone.
By design of the process you were a part of — not of the kind of thing you are — you were impeded by your ovum. When you fertilized your ovum, the material of your sperm disintegrated and your RNA integrated to become DNA. You were no longer a part of your parent's bodies. You transformed into a fertilized egg, a zygote, a single-celled embryo: a new organism.
At this point many pro-lifers will exclaim — aha, proof! This is the radical change of nature needed to prove that your potentiality changed. It was at this moment that your latent humanity emerged, and you began the process of attaining its evident manifestation.
And they're wrong. This proves WHY your nature changed, but does nothing to prove HOW it did so do that. So it's not necessarily that they've picked the wrong milestone for the beginning of the process of actualization; it's that they've picked it for insufficient reasons. To find sufficient reason, we must now imagine you were once a zygote.
As a zygote, your potential became more and more limited with each passing moment. Every interaction with your mother not only brought new opportunities, but also sealed your fate further, defining your life course. New potential paths into the future were eliminated, and your horizons contracted. Once gastrulation determined which of four potential twin embryos you would be, your individual identity was set in stone. Anything that happened to you would be consequential to a finite set of individuals.
Now you were just some single one. You were dynamic, and your goal was to propel yourself to follow a body plan – to self-orchestrate your development. Your potential for progress was restricted by the time you happened to exist at, and your potential for change was chronic, inherent to your form by design of the kind of thing you are. You were constantly changing all on your own.
You would activate your potential independently, so you were actively attaining your peak form. It was active potential. The nature of your potential was eliminative, narrowing your set of possible futures with every temporal relation. If kept alive and not killed, you would self-actualize into a particular individual. You would be someone.
When you were a zygote, you would be someone in particular in the future, so you already were a specific someone now, and always would be. As a zygote, your material body constituted a whole and indivisible somebody. But when you were a sperm, you could become anyone, thus you were only ever no one. You were unspecific, a divisible part. Your material form constituted nobody. So actually, your sperm was never anybody, ergo it was never you.
Therefore, you were never a sperm.
So we've proven a sperm wasn't you, not just because sperms aren't organisms, and non-organisms typically aren't people. With that out of the way, finally, we can prove how a zygote was you, a person!
Earlier we found that in order to be a person, a human must be in a process of self-actualization, in which they actively manifest their potential to reach a target state of being – a peak form. The debate was therefore, when does such a process begin? Does it begin with the materialization of the brain, or the organism, or another milestone altogether? Let's analyze the process of actualization and see if it offers any hints.
Logic offers us three possible modes of manifesting latent potential into evident form: attainment, retainment, and reattainment. In other words, you're always either gaining, keeping, or getting back the version of you in which others best relate to you as a fellow person. If you stop self-actualizing, then your relation to humanity as kin becomes passive, you lose your active potential – your potentiality – and you've died.
And so we return to the question at hand: when does this potentiality begin? We know a premie is attaining the best version of themself. We also know for certain they are enminding – attaining a mind – because they have the brain material to do so. Now, based on what we imagined when you were a zygote earlier, we can also surmise that a zygote is attaining a best self – or, enselfing. Rationally, both zygotes and premies actually have potentiality.
But doesn't that just bring us back to the original problem? Because if we are to say that a zygote has potentiality, then who's to say that a sperm doesn't have it as well? Aren't sperm also in the process of attaining humanity? Did I walk you in a circle of reasoning?
Fortunately not. Remember we've already reasoned that sperm are broadening their potentials, while zygotes are narrowing their potentials. This means that sperm have passive potential – mere possibility – while zygotes have active potential – actual potentiality.
Further, actualization converts latent manifestations of potential to evident manifestations. Manifesting eliminates potential paths into the future by activating potential in the present. The process of attainment is a mode of manifesting that narrows potentials to a target state. Given that attainment is a process of narrowing, and the nature of the potential of sperm is a process of broadening, then it appears sperm are in a process contradictory to attainment.
That means, the physical nature of sperm is not only different from the physical nature of organisms, but the metaphysical process of sperm is paradoxical to that of embryos. Being paradoxical, it is impossible that sperm are actively attaining, and from this we may deduce that they do not actualize. At fertilization, the material of the gametes not only undergoes a marked shift in biological behavior, but also a paradigm shift in potential. Human gametes are unlike embryos because they are not manifesting humanity – but we are, so we are like embryos.
If the pro-choicers aren't totally lost yet, they're probably thinking, whoa buddy, hold your horses. I can think of a lot of reasons embryos are more like a brain-dead body than they are like us. For starters, they don't have a mind. Sure, they might be enselfing, but surely a being without a brain can't be enminding. Sure gametes don't have potentiality, but the potentiality to be a person must start at brain birth when the fetus gains the potential to have a mind.
Not so fast! You’re suggesting that when certain brain material arises, it will constitute the mind in the future. This would mean brain birth expands your potential infinitely. But didn’t we just find that attainment is a process of elimination of potentials? Then how can the process of attaining a mind start with an explosive generation of new potentials? This appears contradictory again!
Moreover, Dr. Thomas Verny states that “before the event of birth, before we have even had a glimmer of sight or sound in the womb, we record the experience and history of our lives in our cells,” and coined this process “bodywide memory”. Prior to your brain birth, the potentials for your mind were already being carved away by intrauterine stressors upon your body. This is distinct from epigenetics, in which stressors are inherited rather than imposed. The mental and physical health of your mom, as well as the impression of your dad’s health upon her, sculpted the path to how your mind is now.
This presents a new perspective to consider: the mind is a phenomenon that emerges as a consequence of a sequence of eliminations of potentials. This process began at fertilization, when your body began attaining your mind. Brain birth is just an arbitrary milestone, not just in the development of the fetus, but also along the continuum of your self-actualization.
Thus, your body began to enmind at fertilization. You, in all your potentiality – even the potential of your mind – emerged with your organism, a culmination of the possibility of two gametes. From thereon, you began eliminating potential as you set your course in life, defining your reality. Not only did the material that would constitute your mind begin making itself, but also the active potential that would define the boundaries of your individual mind began whittling itself down.
You, as a person, actually existed at conception. That's not arbitrary; it's the precise point at which the processes that define you began.
But the pro-choicer may still offer one last objection. Sure, they’ll concede, if I’d been aborted, I wouldn’t exist, in the same way as if my development had gone differently, or if my sperm fertilized a different ovum. That makes early human organisms more like sperm than people.
It’s true that had your sperm been bumped off its physical trajectory and into a different ovum, your present life course would not have been a possibility. That change would have caused your sperm’s future path to split toward new eventualities, and in this alternate reality, you as an individual never existed and that was not your sperm. The future would branch divergently into a set of indeterminate possibilities inconsistent with your conception. This is also how barrier contraception works: its physical diversion disintegrates most potential timelines of contact with an ovum.
In contrast, any change in your development could have set you on a completely different life course, eliminating your present timeline trajectory, and you’d not be the same version of the individual you are today. But abortion forces a merge of every potential future path upon a single eventuality: the dead version of you, which is a non-existent version of you. A set of indeterminate possible futures collapses convergently into the outcome consistent with abortion: your death. Abortion doesn’t prevent a potential version of you from coming to fruition; rather, it forcibly integrates all potentials to a reality in which you existed and now don’t, in the same way as killing a person.
This concludes my logical proof that the correct milestone for human personhood is fertilization. Embryos and fetuses are people. You don't have to have a sentient mind, or even a functional brain to be a person – you simply must have the active and inherent potential of getting one.

I had a brief but fun ~volunteer job as a sex educator (required for public health degree) which was fun but I did mostly focus on things like dental dams and PeP/PreP, because I worked for my college. so I'm going to ignore all of that to tell you all the most bizzare sex-related thing I've learned recently, which in retrospect makes perfect sense but boggled me:
your fallopian tube can pick up an egg from the opposite side ovary, and in fact this happens nearly a third of the time in people who have had monolateral salpingectomy

Conception is a stage wherein a sperm cell fuses with an ovum, or egg cell, in the fallopian tube. This process is called fertilization. In other words, conception is the action of conceiving a child. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the fertility rate of women in the Philippines, which ranged between the ages of 15 and 49 years, was 1.9 children per woman. That is based on the National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) preliminary results in 2022. We have interviewed one woman who is currently in the conception stage, and below, we will be documenting her responses to the questions we have prepared.
Kang is 25 years old and is one month pregnant with her second child. We asked her questions with regard to her physical, cognitive, and socioemotional adjustments, challenges faced during her pregnancy, and the pleasure she is experiencing during pregnancy. Each category consisted of three questions.
Meet "Kang"
Tumblr media
Physical Adjustments
We asked Kang what are the common physical symptoms she felt during her pregnancy, and according to her, the common physical symptoms during the first trimester of her pregnancy included vomiting, nausea, intense sense of smell, aversion towards strong smells such as chili oil, and smokes.
Second, we asked her if the growing belly affects her daily activities and comfort. According to her, it affects her in a way that she is having a hard time picking up things from below her knees, she is also having a hard time breathing sometimes and has discomfort in sleeping due to her limited sleeping position.
In line with her response, we asked about the things that help her ease the discomforts she feels during her pregnancy. Kang said that a thick pillow helps her feel comfortable due to the elevated position which can help her ease and avoid back pain.
Cognitive Adjustments
We asked Kang how pregnancy hormones affect her memory and concentration. So far, according to her, there are still no changes, and her memory and concentration are just the same as before.
Second, we asked what mental challenges she might have faced and what she would do to deal with them. Kang responded by saying she gets easily irritated and has a lack of patience during her pregnancy, and she deals with it by calming herself down. She did not specify further the ways she can calm herself down.
Lastly, we asked Kang about how being tired during pregnancy affects her thinking, and the ways she does to help with this. She stated that whenever she is tired, it causes her to have a headache and she just deals with it by sleeping.
Socioemotional Adjustments
In this section, we asked Kang what are the emotional changes she noticed during her pregnancy. She stated that she felt a lack of patience and that she would have mood swings.
Second, we asked Kang if her relationship with her partner and family changed during pregnancy. According to her, her partner and family had become more caring towards her during her pregnancy.
Lastly, we asked how the support from her friends and family helped with her emotional changes during pregnancy. She stated that the support from her friends and family helps her deal with the intense cravings she has and the lack of patience. Furthermore, she likes spending time with her friends and family because of the joy they bring to her, thus keeping her entertained.
Challenges
In this section, we asked Kang questions with regard to the challenges she faced during her pregnancy:
Since Kang is working as a vendor, we asked her what the problems she faced while balancing both work and pregnancy and what are the things she do to manage them. She stated that her work life makes her pregnancy more bearable because it keeps her momentum in being productive despite her being pregnant.
Second, we asked her if financial worries affected her in her pregnancy. Kang stated that money does not worry her that much because she makes her own money.
Lastly, we asked Kang what are the issues she faced from not sleeping well during pregnancy and how can these issues be solved. She said that whenever she couldn't sleep, she would use her phone since it helps her to sleep. In addition, her husband would sometimes message her to sleep.
Pleasure Experienced During Pregnancy
In the last section, we asked Kang the things that bring joy to her as a pregnant woman. Her happiness during pregnancy, according to her, stems from her supportive husband and family. Her cravings are well provided and she is well-loved.
Second, we asked her about how feeling the baby move made her feel. Since she is still in her first month of pregnancy, there is no notable movement yet. However, she could feel a slight flick in her stomach which, according to her, might be coming from the baby's heartbeat.
Lastly, we asked her about the happy moments that are related to her pregnancy, such as milestones and celebrations. She stated that being pregnant alone makes her happy, and it would be a bonus happiness if what she is conceiving is a baby boy.
Based on the answers she has given us and upon observing during the interview, Kang has an optimistic view of pregnancy. One of the factors of her optimistic mindset was probably due to the support she has with her family, friends, and partner. Furthermore, her responses to our questions also relate to her first pregnancy and not just solely from her current pregnancy.

[Our concern as pro life people however, is not only that an implanted pregnancy could be removed from the uterus, but also a fertilized egg .
Is there any chance the drug could cause a fertilized egg to leave the uterus? I know it can take up to 6 days after sex to fertilize an egg, and emergency contraceptions usually have a 5 day window.
either way, I appreciate the info! Thanks]
Ah, that makes sense! And no, it cannot. If the egg is fertilized then plan B will no longer do its job. I tend to count pregnancy as starting the moment it's fertilized anyway, so I'm sorry if I was a bit unclear! Plan B only works if there's no ovulation yet. I know there's been some assumptions that it might also work before the implantation window, but research has shown it doesn't do anything at that point that could cause an abortion/miscarriage. There was a theory that because a very high dose of progesterone at that point (after fertilization) will slow the transport of the newly fertilized ovum, that plan B should be able to do the same thing, but in studies they don't see it working that way.
After ovulation, there's a ~24 hour window for an egg to become fertilized, but by then it's already 'too late' for the drug to be effective. Like you said, sperm can stay alive for a while in there, and while it is, it has a chance to travel up and get picked by the egg to get fertilized. (Which is pretty interesting, because it's always depicted as a 'race' for whatever reason, but it really is just the egg that selects.) It's considered to be 3-5 days at the moment.
But if you were to take plan B on day 2, and you already started ovulating by then, it'd be useless. That's why they say that it's most effective on day 1. A lot of the time women also don't know when they're ovulating at all, so general advice is to tell them to take it as soon as possible (just in case) since if it turns out they're not even ovulating until next week, there's little harm done.
One thing that does work that way is the copper IUD! If you have a copper IUD inserted after fertilization, but before implantation, it would act an abortifacient. That's a very narrow window though, so it's not used in that way commonly unless you were to immediately get an appointment at the gynaecologist on one of the first days of fertilization, and then immediately be able to have it inserted. So that could be considered as abortifacient.
Thank you! This is very helpful

I notice that in the troll ancestor-descendant pairs we see, there seem to be a set of defining characteristics which are always inherited down the direct line - blood colour, horn shape, lunar sway, aspect, and both gender presentation and presumably sex (because just look at Kankri's dialogue, Hussie did NOT intend anyone as trans at that point) always match. Those trolls had a small genetic pool, but Tavros didn't inherit Horuss' horns or Aranea's aspect, for example, the traits that define them to the audience always coincide. Now, that's obviously a narrative convention, but would it be hypothetically possible for this to actually work biologically? Perhaps each troll provides two types of gamete, the A gamete has a full half of the chromosomes, covering the biological aspects of those traits (the behavioural ones being either more nurture-affected or psychic handwavey shit), and in the slurry they pick up little bits of code from lots of other trolls' B gametes? "It's magic" always works, but I'm curious if it can be done with science too.
I don't know all that much about how gametes and genetics work, but I'd say there's definitely possibilities. There is nothing that absolutely says that a troll must have exactly 2 genetic contributors like humans do, for instance, as you have posited yourself.
The more complex the system is, however, the more possibilities of errors being introduced to the genetic code. This is not necessarily a problem. With the intense R-strategy that trolls employ, deleterious errors are constantly weeded out and helpful ones get a good chance to surface in the gene pool. From what I have seen of Trolls, I have always assumed that they have a very high mutation rate. This is supported by all the trolls we see in the comic exhibiting mutations, if one counts being fushiablood or having powers. I have not checked if the same is true for the epilogues, HS^2 or the games. If one includes them, then it may just be that SBurb players tend to have mutations.
The fact that they are players brings up another confounding issue too, as the ectobiology process means that the players do not necessarily have anything like the reproductive inheritance that a normal troll would have. So for our main trolls, it may be that they got the vast majority of their genetics directly from their ancestor/dancestor and the remainder a mix of the rest, but that for the average troll it would be different.
This does not preclude a similar result, however. Even amongst humans one can find people that appear to be dopplegangers, even despite not being related at all sometimes. One could point to sheer chance sometimes letting the buildingblocks fall into the same patterns, the blocks shuffled every generation but eventually the same set popping up in the same order. Unlikely, but when you get into larger number sets it can certainly happen on occasion, and much more likely when there is a direct line of descendance, too.
But you're probably looking for something more interesting than that.
Trolls could definitely produce two types of gametes, either at the same time or one set for kismeses and one for matespritship. One can also get different sets for "girl" trolls and "boy" trolls if one wants there to be a biological reason that the two are separate at all.
(My own HC is that to get a Troll (as opposed to a drone or a mother grub or whatever) one needs a full set of: one mother grub ovum and a gestalt mobile spermatozoa composed of 2 kismet sperm and 2 matesprit sperm, with the sperm gestalt needing to include 2 "boy" and 2 "girl" donors in any order. Usually this means that a pair of trolls will produce a bucket of gametes mostly already locked together into 1/2 of the necessary packet to deliver to the ova, which when mixed into the slurry will have a chance to encounter the other half of the equation. Since most of the gametes are already paired up the troll will usually be the product of one matesprit and one kismet pair, but sometime of the gametes enter the slurry solo so there is also a chance of a random selection of donors or one pair and two unpaired.)
One of the most important questions to get the result you want, I think, is what information each gamete carries and how that information is combined with that of additional gamete(s). (like, does one always inherit their blood from their maternal kismet ancestor, or is it a mix of all of your donors, or what?) The more shuffling and individual data blocks there are, the harder is is to get an Ancestor/Descendant pair. But if there's only a few blocks and they're inherited or passed down wholesale with little modification, then it's much easier to get a return of a nearly identical setup, especially if the children tend to mingle amongst interrelated groups like how Vriska sought out Eridan specifically because of their ancestries.
In any case, I think you need to find someone with a stronger background in the science of genetics for better information. Get some punnet squares happening.

Ways in Waves Goes Deep on New Release “Death of Others”

Ways in Waves is the brainchild of Brian Raine, a multi-instrumentalist and music producer living out of Edmonton, Alberta. With malleable form and the spirit of experimentation at its core, the group began as a live duo, and eventually expanded to a five-piece live band with Raine picking up vocals as well as guitar and keys parts.
Their upcoming album is set for release next month (September 2024) and combines aspects of rock, art-pop, and electronic music together into a mixture that propels the listener through controlled chaos. With drums engineered by Quinn Cyrankiewicz of Royal Tusk and performed by Joel Joeske of Whale and the Wolf, the newest releases from Ways in Waves (including “Who in War,” “Everything Taken,” and “Ovum Nova”) are explosive and driven while maintaining an ethereal backdrop.
There’s a lot of breakup songs out there, but most of those are about romantic relationships. The feelings that came out of feeling this distance growing between myself and people I used to love was very painful, and made me contemplate just… starting over, imagining leaving everything and everyone behind and beginning life again as a new person, with no ties to anyone or anything. – Brian Raine

Understanding the Egg Retrieval Process: Insights and Expectations
In the delicate journey of building a family, oocyte retrieval, commonly known as the egg retrieval process, emerges as a crucial aspect for individuals and couples considering assisted reproduction. This intricate procedure, often a foundation of fertility treatments like in vitro fertilization (IVF), involves the meticulous extraction of mature eggs from the ovaries. In this comprehensive blog, we will demystify the intricacies of the egg retrieval process, offering insights, setting realistic expectations, and exploring the concept of egg freezing which is a significant aspect of reproductive choices.
The Essence of the Egg Retrieval Process
The egg retrieval process is a crucial aspect of various fertility treatments, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), which is a primary option for both surrogate and intended parents. Let's take a look at the essential aspects of this process:
Ovarian Stimulation and Fertility Medications
Initiating the journey, ovarian stimulation is set in motion with fertility medications, prominently featuring follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). The objective is to stimulate the ovaries to develop multiple eggs, laying the groundwork for a successful IVF cycle.
Monitoring Ovarian Response
This phase involves close monitoring of the woman's ovarian response through meticulous ultrasounds and blood tests. The goal is to ensure that the eggs reach optimal maturity. A strategic trigger shot of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) follows, inducing final maturation and setting the stage for the actual egg retrieval.
The Minimally Invasive Retrieval Procedure
The process of getting ready ends with the methodical application of the egg retrieval process. A small needle is gently inserted through the vaginal wall to reach the ovaries and aspirate mature follicles carrying the eggs during this minimally invasive procedure, which is done under anesthesia. The eggs are then given to the embryologist to be fertilized with sperm, which is the first stage in producing embryos that will be transferred in the future.
Insights into the Egg Retrieval Process
Delving deeper into the egg retrieval process, it becomes evident that several delicate intricacies contribute to its success. These aspects are as follows:
Ovum Pick-Up (OPU)
The physical act of collecting eggs from the ovaries is termed Ovum Pick-Up (OPU). This step is indispensable, ensuring the availability of viable eggs for fertilization and the subsequent stages of the assisted reproductive journey.
Fertility Medications and Individual Responses
The role of fertility medications in stimulating egg production cannot be overstated. However, it's imperative to recognize the inherent variability in individual responses to these medications. Close monitoring becomes the linchpin, allowing for the modification of dosages to achieve optimal results.
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
In certain cases, the egg retrieval process may benefit from Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). This technique involves directly injecting a single sperm into an egg, significantly enhancing the prospects of successful fertilization. ICSI becomes particularly valuable in scenarios of male infertility or when previous fertilization attempts have fallen short.
Egg Freezing: Preserving Reproductive Potential
Egg freezing is a term that is closely related to the egg retrieval process. This empowering choice allows women to preserve their eggs for future use, providing an option for those not ready for parenthood but keen on safeguarding their reproductive potential. Cryopreserving the eggs enables flexibility in family planning, extending the viability of these vital reproductive components.
Expectations and Emotional Considerations
Embarking on the egg retrieval process is not solely a clinical journey; it's a profound emotional experience. Recognizing and addressing the emotional aspects is integral to a holistic approach to fertility treatments.
Managing Expectations
The spectrum of emotions individuals and couples experience during fertility treatments is vast – from hope and anticipation to anxiety and stress. Managing expectations becomes a foundational and essential aspect of this journey. While advancements in reproductive medicine have significantly improved success rates, the complexity of fertility treatments necessitates a realistic outlook. This perspective aids in coping with the emotional peaks and valleys, fostering resilience, and maintaining a positive mindset.
Physical and Emotional Changes with Fertility Medications
The use of fertility medications can aid in both physical and emotional changes. Open communication with healthcare providers and robust support networks prove invaluable in navigating these changes. A supportive environment helps individuals traverse this phase with confidence and understanding.
Legal and Ethical Considerations
In the broader scope of fertility treatments, including the egg retrieval process and egg freezing, legal and ethical considerations demand attention. Understanding the intricacies of parentage, consent forms, and agreements is essential for all parties involved, providing a robust foundation for the journey ahead.
Conclusion
Proper knowledge becomes essential while embracing the assisted reproduction journey. Understanding the egg retrieval process involves delving into its medical intricacies while concurrently managing expectations. By considering the subtleties of the egg retrieval process including ovarian stimulation, Ovum Pick-Up, and techniques like ICSI, individuals can make informed decisions about their fertility journey. The inclusion of egg freezing emerges as a pivotal choice, empowering individuals to take control of their reproductive futures. Throughout the process, emotional considerations and realistic expectations play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and supportive environment. With comprehensive knowledge of the egg retrieval process and associated procedures, individuals and couples can embark on this transformative and fulfilling path with confidence and hope.

How Do You Deal with Difficult People?  The very first thing that I should do is pray for them.  I realize that are many types of difficult people.  I know that I can be very difficult to deal with, but I have sense enough to calm down and relax.  I have been dealing with very difficult people for the past 8 years now.  I have been dealing with people, who use vulgarity and smoke marijuana on a daily basis.  These people live inside of my apartment building in Dayton, Ohio.  I know that I used to smoke marijuana and drink alcohol for 18 years; from 1972 to 1990.  I have been clean and sober for 33 years now.  I realize that I have making things difficult for myself.  This is very serious because you are killing your brain cells inside of your body.  It can also decrease your sperm count in men.  It can affect your ovum count in women.  I really did not know this until I got to High School in 1979.  I realize that I was doing things that did not make sense all of the time.  I really love people.  I love animals as well.  I have been earning bad grades in school.  I also did numerous of things that did not make sense.
I only wanted to be accepted by God and Mankind at the same exact time.  I know that I could not make man accept me, but they didn’t anyway.  So, I had to keep to myself and the friends inside of my classes adored me.  I do remember picking up a very large turtle before class.  All of a sudden, I saw someone getting out of a car, and he asked me whether he could cook the turtle?  So, I gave it to him.  I know that I should not have bothered the turtle.  My disposition at that time was very cheerful.  I did all of my homework at the University Computer Center.  I had so much fun that I began to use the World Wide Web from 1991-Present.  I loved the College Life.
Next, I want to inform all of you that I have made a public spectacle out of myself each day by saying things out of my mouth that hurt other people.  I guess, I was making things bad for myself.  I got into a lot of street fights in Dayton, Ohio.  I also got into fist fights in Grand-Rapids, Michigan for a total of 4 months.  I knew that God was watching me throughout that time.  God is recording everything that we are doing to ourselves and other people.  This is very serious because I was a very difficult person by choice.  During that time, I have lost friends and lost female friends as well.  I did not have any business doing things to hurt my family members and friends.  I want to inform all of you that God has changed my overall behavior since 1990.  During that year of 1990, I relocated to Toledo, Ohio.  I got a job and a place to live.  I was working at a plant located on City Park Avenue in Toledo.  During that time, I had traveled to Dayton and Lima Ohio as well.  I guess during that time, I was dealing with lewd women as well.  I had dealt with lewd women from 6/21/1986 until Friday July 2, 2010.  I was only dealing with women who were drug users and abusers.  I wanted to inform all of you that I did not care about myself.  My grandparents and mother were furious with me.
They found out that I was spending money on female prostitutes.  I know that my life could have been better.  I was responsible for holding myself back.  I want to inform all of you that I graduated from college at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio.  I earned my Associates Degree on Saturday June 12, 1993.  I graduated with my Bachelors of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Social Work on Saturday June 17, 1995.  For 3 years, I lived inside of a Crack House on 126 Rosalind Place off Cherry Street in Toledo, Ohio.
Further, I used to conduct myself like a person who was from the streets of Dayton, Ohio.  I really wanted other people to like me and accept me for who I am as a Child of the Highest God.  I know that I used vulgarity during class in college and high school as well.  I made a lot of mistakes during that time.  I want to inform everyone that I loved women.  I loved myself as well.  It is that I knew that college life was difficult for me.  I had to change my overall behavior in order to get accepted by other people.
Moreover, I want to inform all of you that I asked God for a favor.  I asked God, could He Make Sure that I graduated from college?  God really listened to me.  I did graduate from college and relocated to Charlotte, NC.  I will admit that I was homeless by choice.  I was homeless in Charlotte, NC for 8 straight months.  I moved to Charlotte, NC on Sunday June, 15, 1997.  I lived at the Men’s Uptown Shelter for 8 straight months from June 17, 1997 to February 17, 1998.  I had to deal with a whole lot of personalities that were weigh worse off than me.  I dealt with it until January 5, 2010.  I lived in Charlotte, NC for 12 years.  I know that my past was not pleasant.  I had decided to accept my whereabouts and get strong!!
Finally, I realized that my life was changing for the better.  I attended church on a regular basis.  I prayed to God for a Church Home that would be feasible for me.  Although I live inside of an environment that is not conducive towards my personal needs in Dayton, Ohio.  From January 6, 2010 until right now, I have been living in the Dayton, Ohio Area.  I live in the Northwest Side of Dayton, Ohio near Salem Avenue in Dayton, Ohio.  I have been living inside of my Apartment Complex Called Wentworth Hi Rise Apartments since January 5, 2011.  The neighborhood itself has changed tremendously since 2010.
In Conclusion, I have been going back and forth to the Library in the Dayton, Ohio Area.  I am at the Library at the moment.  I have been clean and sober since Wednesday May 2, 1990 to the Present.  I attend my meetings online because I am not physically able to attend meetings because I have too many physical and mental problems.  I have been chilling out as of late.  I suffer from Diabetes right now.
My doctor prescribed me metformin 500mg per day before breakfast.  I have been taking metformin for over a week right now.  I will officially take metformin with my meals.  I know that having a lot of physical ailments had caused me to slow down completely.  Please keep me in your prayers and thoughts.  God Bless You

Standing ovation….what is an ovation?? What came to mind is an oval or ova….an egg.
Ovation is from Latin ovationem (nominative ovatio) "a triumph, rejoicing," noun of action from past-participle stem of ovare "exult, rejoice, triumph,"
The etymology of this word is too vague. Doesn’t give any of the root after you’ve been studying words, as long as I have, you pick up on these little things. I knew something was missing & dug a bit deeper.
Latin ovationem is from ovatio meaning “egg-laying” Ovatio is derived from ovare “ to lay eggs”from Latin ovum meaning egg
I bet the term is referring to the energy created by the human torus field. Our torus is the electromagnetic field produced by your heart or your life force energy. One gives a standing ovation when his heart is excited and applause is like the energy coming off our torus. An egg has been called “the perfect shape” and it is the shaped used by creation to generate life.
The egg is a natural battery. An egg shaped form can attract energy from the outside and accumulate it inside which contributes to the formation of life. There is always a vortex inside an egg. In Iran, you can still find ancient refrigeration systems that don’t require any electricity. They’re called Yahkshal and are egg shaped. An egg has several advantages for architects due to its harmonic shape, relative strength, and minimal consumptions of building materials. Ancient civilizations took advantage of the egg shape and built egg shaped homes. Trullo homes in Bari, Italy is one example. Similar structures have been found in Cyprus, Spain, Peru, Scotland, and more.
Now, every time I am part of a standing ovation, I’m going to ponder if I want my energy to be given away. The more you know.

Fellowship in Embryology: A ladder to embryologists’ success
Tumblr media
A biologist who carefully monitors human gametes (eggs and sperm) while they are outside the human body is known as an embryologist. Scientists with a focus on the study of embryo development - from fertilisation to birth or hatching - are known as embryologists. They research the morphogenesis, organogenesis, differentiation, and cell division that take place throughout embryonic development. Many methods, such as microscopy, molecular biology, genetics, and animal studies, are employed by embryologists to examine embryos. Their work is crucial to understanding how living things grow and how birth malformations and other anomalies might emerge during the embryonic stage. Developmental biology, reproductive medicine, genetics, and evolutionary biology are just a few of the specialties practiced by embryologists.
Formal Education in Embryology
Ancient Greek philosophers like Aristotle, who wrote extensively about the development of animal embryos, made discoveries that eventually led to the development of the modern field of embryology. However, the establishment of microscopy and the cell theory in the late 19th century marked the start of formal education in embryology as a distinct field. Wilhelm His, a Swiss anatomist and embryologist, established Leipzig, Germany's first embryology institute in 1875. Many of the early pioneers in the area, including Paul Ehrlich and Hans Spemann, received their training at this institute, which later became a hub for embryology research and education.
Since then, instruction in embryology has been incorporated into a variety of biology and medical programmes all across the world. These programmes now provide courses in anything from fundamental embryology to more complex subjects like developmental genetics and stem cell biology.
Formal training in embryology typically begins at the university level and involves a combination of classroom lectures, laboratory work, and hands-on research experience.
Let’s further look at what the course curriculum covers at each level of formal education in embryology.
At undergraduate level:
Basic Principles of Embryology
Fertilization Process
Cell Division and Differentiation
Organogenesis
Fetal Development
Stages of embryonic development in different organisms
At Graduate level:
Specialized training in embryology through a master's or doctoral degree program
Advanced coursework and research experience
Developmental genetics
Stem cell biology
Reproductive medicine
Students may also have the opportunity to conduct original research and publish their findings in scientific journals.
The majority of the laboratory work in a Diploma in Embryology often includes the use of molecular biology, tissue culture, and microscopy. In addition to learning how to examine and work with fetal tissues, students will also learn how to decipher and evaluate complex biological data.
Besides, formal coursework and laboratory work, mentees enrolled for Fellowship in Embryology may also participate in conferences, seminars, and workshops to stay up-to-date with the latest advances in the field. They may also have the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers in the field, either through internships, research projects, or postdoctoral positions.
Medline Academics- Premium institute for Fellowship Program
Founded by pioneer in the field of Infertility, Medline Academics- an eLearning platform, is one of the best training institutes for formal education in embryology. With their fellowship program, you have access to Basic Andrology, Basic Embryology, Advanced Embryology, Genetics, Research Methodology and Quality Assurance in Embryology Laboratory. With the practical training, you will learn about semen analysis, semen sample preparation, ovum pick up, denudation, dish preparation, immobilization, alignment of micromanipulator, ICSI, IMSI, Embryo culturing, Assisted Hatching, Vitrification of embryos and oocytes, thawing of embryos and oocytes and Embryo transfer. Formal training in embryology is a rigorous and intellectually challenging process that prepares students for careers in a wide range of fields, including academia, medicine, biotechnology, and government research. By studying the complex and dynamic process of embryonic development, embryologists can contribute to our understanding of human health and disease, as well as the evolution of life on Earth.

We offer the highest IVF Treatment Centre in Bangalore success rates (50–60%) at affordable costs.
It Is Offered To Females : Tubal factor infertility. Severe endometriosis. Failed multiple cycles of OI, IUI. Unexplained infertility, etc. Male factor infertility- very low counts, motility. Untitled design (14) In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) literally means ‘fertilisation in glass’ giving us the familiar term ‘test tube baby’. During the IVF process, eggs are removed from the ovaries and fertilised with sperm in the laboratory. The fertilised egg (embryo) is later placed in the woman’s womb.
Women has to receive daily injections either starting from day 18 of the previous cycle or on day 2 of the cycle depending on the type of protocol planned. The dosage and the number of injections will vary from person to person depending upon their response. Once the eggs are matured, the egg pick up will be planned(under GA). After the pickup, the embryos are transferred after 3 -5 days. The result of IVF cycle will be confirmed after 2 weeks from the day of embryo transfer

Is IVF for me? A clinic may recommend IVF as your best treatment option if: You have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. You have been unsuccessful with other techniques like using fertility drugs or intrauterine insemination (IUI). Your fallopian tubes are blocked. There is a minor degree of male subfertility — more severe problems are treated with intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). How does IVF work For Women? IVF techniques can differ from clinic to clinic, often depending on your individual circumstances. A typical treatment may involve:
Embryo Donation : Indicated in : There may be fertility problems such has neither of the partners would not be able to produce healthy gametes. In this case, the best option would be suggested for Embryo Donation.
Other Indications :
For menopausal or perimenopausal women with a sub-fertile partner. Recurrent IVF failures. Patients who are carriers of genetic disease or chromosomal abnormalities Embryo Freezing (cryopreservation) : Extra embryos if present in excess and of good quality are preserved so that they can be used later if the first cycle fails.
Sperm Freezing : Sperm freezing is an option for those males who might not be present on the day of ovum pick up or intrauterine insemination. It also helps those who fail to produce their sample on the particular day due to stress.
Laser Assisted Hatching : The procedure is based on the fact that an alteration in zona pellucida (outer covering of egg) either by drilling a hole through it or by thinning it, will promote hatching or implantation of embryos that are otherwise unable to escape intact from the zona pellucida.
Sperm Retrieval Procedures : The testicular / epididymal sperm retrieval techniques are:
PESA — Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration. MESA — Microsurgical Epididymal Sperm Aspiration. TESA — Testicular Sperm Aspiration. TESE — Testicular Sperm Extraction. Semen Banking : These facilities are available in Altius Hospital. Fertility Treatment in Bangalore
Overview of Fertility Treatment offered at Kangaroo Care
Kangaroo Care Hospital provides a comprehensive range of fertility services to couples in need. The services include:
Simple Ovulation Induction
This involves giving women medications to promote ovulation, followed by FOLLICULAR IMAGING, which is scan-based monitoring of follicle growth, and finally TIMED INTERCOURSE, in which advise is offered on the optimal time to try for pregnancy.
IUI (Intrauterine Insemination)
The need for this procedure is based on certain factors such as:
Age of the couple
Age of the couple
Years of marriage
Associated factors such as fibroids, endometriosis, and
Polycystic ovaries, we should separate when to seek help, what facilities we offer and patient info leaflets
This method entails administering ovulation medications to stimulate egg release, followed by follicular imaging to check for ovulation and then doing IUI. This essentially implies that the husband's sperm sample is centrifuged before being injected into the uterus via a tube-like structure coupled to a syringe. This ensures that the most active sperm are available for fertilisation, increasing the chances of conception over simple ovulation induction and timed intercourse.
IVF ( In Vitro Fertilization)
The need for IVF which means in vitro fertilization or commonly called as test tube baby, is based on certain parameter
Age of the couple
Number of years of marriage
Previous failed IUI (more than 6 cycles)
Underlying complications such as fibroids, previously treated poor ovarian responders.
Tubal block (both tubes blocked but normal uterus and ovaries)
Starting follicular scans on day 2 of menstruation is part of this protocol. This is referred to as ANTRAL FOLLICULAR COUNT. Regular blood tests to monitor the cycle, such as FSH, LH, prolactin, AMH, and estradiol, indicate the requirement for harmonal injections to stimulate the ovaries to create good quality follicles, which are then evaluated by alternate day scans to choose the best follicle for OPU (Ovum Pick-Up). Under anaesthesia, OPU is collecting eggs via vaginal channel. Under a microscope, the egg and sperm are fertilised together and cultivated to the BLASTOCYST stage. The top quality embryos are chosen, and the best one is used for single embryo transfer. We are the top IVF facility in Vijayanagar.

Tibalah di hari Ovum Pick Up.
