Broken Pieces Shine || An Orville AU Fic
Chapter Two: Bare Characters: Alara Kitan, Ed Mercer, Original Characters Romantic Pairing: Alara x Ed Rating: Mature Triggers: Dom/Sub elements, Dub-Con Elements, Exhibitionism elements, Coercion, Master/Slave dynamics Summary: Ed x Alara || Orville Alternate Universe: Flung into deep space via the gravitational pull of a wormhole, Ed and Alara find themselves lost in international space. Even worse, they've run into pirates on an outlaw space station in the middle of nowhere. With untold damage done to the ship they have no choice but to dock there, and try to fit in, but when the Overlord wants to see them, their seemingly simple plan becomes their worst nightmare.
It was only when they were docked that Ed put the leash on her collar. There had been a discussion about this, one where she tried to compromise and persuade her way out of it but he wasn't going to allow that to happen. She knew why, and she believed that he didn't like it any more than she did but he was right. If they were found out as Union officers they would be in a lot of trouble. The hatch in the back opened and Ed headed out with her walking behind him trying not to stumble in the obnoxious boots that she was wearing.
A man was there waiting for them. He was dressed in all black. His leather jeans had chains and various emblems pinned to them. A metal chain was around his neck and the tight V-neck shirt he wore only showed off how extremely muscular he was. He was also tall. Maybe even a foot taller than her. Something that may have been intimidating if she didn't already know she was stronger than this guy who was only a human. Ed seemed to feel a bit differently since he wouldn't be a match, and he had to have known it.
"You really stole this ship?" The man asked.
"Yeah, what's it to you, then?" Ed replied, speaking with that accent again. The man chuckled, his eyes seemed to shine with amusement. She had to admit that despite his rather intimidating physique he was attractive. Short brown hair, chiseled jaw and cheekbones, and green eyes that seemed to glow of their own accord. "You the Overseer or whatever that was?"
"No. I just work here." He sighed, "The name is Avery. Yours?"
"Shark and Bambi." Ed motioned to her with a nod of his head almost as if it were an afterthought before looking back to Avery. "Who was that on the comm then, has your eyes."
"My brother." Avery said, "He's a...special case. No need to get into that. The Overlord will see you now but you will be frisked for weapons."
"Naturally." Ed nodded, "Come then." He tugged at her leash as if he actually had to do that to get her moving but she started to follow him as Avery led them through the docking bay past numerous other ships and various species other than human. Some she wasn't even sure she'd seen before, including something that looked like a bird and human hybrid complete with feathers and wings. She tried not to stare, if they were supposed to be pirates she assumed this was also supposed to be normal to her.
"Been doing this for long?" Avery asked, glancing over his shoulder at them briefly before turning back to watch where he was going.
"Not long, no, found my little pet had a knack for it and though, why the hell not, yeah?"
"I can imagine having something like her around would make it easier. Where do you hail from? Earth I take it?"
"Yeah, London."
"The Overlord is as well. He'll appreciate that I'm sure."
She swallowed hard, clenching her jaw as she attempted not to yell at this guy for referring to her like she was some kind of object. Being seen as a pet was bad enough but being called a thing instead of a pet? She wasn't a tool or a gadget. She had feelings. Ed would probably attempt to make it up to her somehow later but for the moment that wasn't something that was going to happen and she had to switch focus. Do as she was told and hope that they weren't found out.
They walked through a large atrium area where there was some kind of market set up. Everything was being sold there. Weapons, food, drugs, even slaves. Male and female. Of all species. They walked past clothing stalls and armories. It was a criminal's dream to stumble upon a market with so much contraband. As a security officer she was interested in a lot of what she was seeing even though she was sure the vast majority of it wouldn't be legal and was definitely outlawed by the union for one reason or another.
"Your job here, you like it? We might be looking for a bit of work, you know, since it could be a good idea to rest up before heading back out."
"If you want a job the Overlord will see to that. I'm just second in command." Avery explained as they left the area and walked into a corridor that was lined with different lifts. They seemed to be operated with a key card, Avery was holding one in the palm of his hand it was attached to his belt. She made a mental note of that because if things ended up going south she was probably going to need a key. An all access one like the second in command had. The doors to the lift opened and Avery motioned for them to get in first. He then joined them and pressed a button to the top floor after scanning his card again.
"Sounds good, mate." Ed said, acting far more casual and natural than she had expected him to be able to act in a situation like this. It would have been admirable if she weren't so incredibly pissed off by the position that she had been put in. "What kind of work is needed around here anyway?"
"All sorts." Avery chuckled and looked at him, "Especially for pretty little things like her." He leaned forward to look around Ed and right into her eyes. She wanted to glare at him but she remembered something that Ed had said about not making direct eye contact with any of the men there so she quickly averted her gaze.
"Really? She is one of a kind, yeah?" He asked putting his arm around her to pull her in close. She wasn't sure if it was a protective gesture or trying to show he was possessive but it was kind of nice. Almost reassuring. It subtly let her know that he didn't intend to let anything happen to her. At least not if he could prevent it from happening in the first place. The doors to the lift opened into a hallway. At the very end there were a set of doors. Avery led them in that direction and stopped right outside, pressing the button for the intercom.
"State your purpose." A gruff male voice answered with the same exact accent that Ed had chosen to speak with.
"The new guy with the Xelayan is here. You said you wanted to see them."
"Ah right, yes, send them in."
The doors slid open and Avery motioned for them to head inside. Ed gave the guy a nod and walked in with her. The office was huge and had two very large view screens overlooking the vastness of space and the rest of the station behind the desk where this man sat. He was older with bleached spiky hair. He wore a leather vest with various spikes and chains hanging off of it but had no shirt under. There were chains around his neck and as he stood up she could see that he was also wearing leather pants. Padded in some areas but not others. His boots were very similar to the ones that Ed had chosen for his outfit. They almost looked like they could be related in some way, if this man hadn't been noticeably shorter than Ed was.
"So you really do have a Xelayan, quite a pretty one at that...." The man said, and she could only assume from the opulence of the office they were standing in that this had to be the Overlord that was mentioned to them. He had everything in there. Including a full bar and a shelf that looked like it held quite a few illegal substances used for getting intoxicated. Some she recognized and some she didn't. "The name is Blake."
"Not Overlord?"
"Not if I like you." Blake grinned in a way that made it seem like his mouth was far too large for his head. It was almost as if she expected him to open his mouth and unhinge his jaw like a snake to swallow both of them whole. He reached for a box on his desk which he opened and took out a cigarette. Though she knew what those were it wasn't a common practice anymore where they were from. He lit it up and took a drag then approached her first. "How much you pay for this one?"
"Nothing. Just trained her real good." Ed said and gave her ass a rough slap. She really wished she hadn't been as aroused by that as she was. "Found her in a club, dancing for tips but I knew she could do better."
"And better is what? Stealing Union shuttles with you?"
"What's more exciting than that?"
"Touche..." Blake chuckled never taking his eyes off of her as they spoke and he smoked his cigarette. "So you perform with her, yeah?"
"Perform?"
"You met her in a club, I think we both know what you mean by that." Blake said then turned to look at him, "C'mon, having a Xelayan fetish isn't exactly uncommon you know. We're all friends here."
Were they really discussing this in front of her? And what the hell was Ed going to say next? He'd already explained how he couldn't let her be an equal to him so the next step was going with this performance thing. She did the best she could not to look as nervous as she felt by where this conversation must be going.
"Nothing in public, no. She's rather shy, but get her behind closed doors...."
"Show me." Blake cut him off. Ed looked at her like he had no idea what to say or do next. Neither did she. Even if she was very attracted to him the last thing she wanted for their first time doing anything to be because they were faking it in front of some pirate overlord who was trying to test their loyalty or whatever the fuck he was doing. She wasn't sure. Maybe it was just a test to see how obedient she was but she really didn't want to know why he'd be doing that either. It wouldn't be for any good reasons.
"This ain't exactly private, mate." Ed said after a moment, probably a second before his silence would have been seen as suspicious.
"As I said, we're all friends here and those doors are closed." Blake motioned to the doors of his office and then walked around to the chair behind the desk. He sat down and pressed a button on the console in front of him. There was a chime then a buzz as the doors locked securely. "No one's coming in here unless I allow it. Should be fine."
Ed turned to look at her, taking in a sharp breath, his eyes were pleading with her to just go with it because otherwise, they could be in serious trouble. She knew that as well. Even if she could smash up this whole place, kill Blake, and break down those doors, there would be a whole army of people on the other side who would be waiting to take them out. That wasn't an option. Why the fuck did Ed have to say they met in some sort of sleazy club like that? It probably was the one thing that would sound realistic but it had severely backfired on both of them. That was for sure.
"Alright, strip." Ed snapped at her. She opened her mouth on reflex to tell him there was no way that was about to happen when he backhanded her. Hard. Something that would have knocked a human female off of their feet but a blow he also knew she could take. It was painful, sure, but nothing that had actually injured her. "I didn't ask a question, darling."
"Yes, sir." She said softly, trying not to sound as pissed off as she felt. Ed gave her a nod and detached her leash before taking a step back. Blake sat down and put his feet up on his desk, continuing to smoke his cigarette with a huge grin on his face. This was life or death and it wouldn't kill her to get naked, not physically. Maybe if she focused on Ed and only Ed she would be better off. She reached behind her to unlace the corset on the dress, since that was the only thing keeping it up at that point. Once it was loose enough it fell to the floor by her feet. She stepped out of it and kicked the dress to the side. The only thing she had on under it was a pair of black panties. There hadn't been an option for a bra.
"Very nice, I can see why you snatched this one up to train." Blake said as she tried to figure out where she was supposed to be looking. At him? At Ed? The floor? She could feel her face getting hot, praying that at the very least Ed liked what he saw. She could give a shit what this Blake guy thought of her.
"All the way then, the man wants to see everything, yeah?" Ed ordered her.
"Yes, sir." She said again and slipped off the panties as well then tossed them aside to where her dress was lying.
"Nice good piece of ass here, huh?" Ed asked grabbing her arm to pull her in close, once again he slapped her across the butt causing her to jump slightly and let out a bit of a yelp. She didn't know how he was doing this so comfortably, almost as if he'd done it before, but she was thankful that he was because if it were up to her at that point she'd have already blown their cover.
"You want his cock, right? Like a good little slut?" Blake asked. She blinked a few times looking at Ed.
"Don't look at me you dumb twat, I'm not the one who asked the question." Ed snapped. She was very much on the verge of just telling this guy who they really were because somehow being held prisoner and being tortured seemed like a much better option than this but was it? At the end of the day it was still her job to protect her captain and she had to do it no matter what.
"Yes, sir. I want his cock." She said after another moment.
"Fucking take it again, show me what that pretty little whore mouth can do, yeah?" Blake smirked and made a flippant, dismissive motion with his hand as if to urge her to continue. She turned back to look at Ed who motioned for her to get on her knees. She licked her lips and swallowed hard before complying. Once she was at eye level with his crotch she could see yet another obstacle to overcome. There was no way that this wasn't going to lead to a blow job, but would Ed be able to hold it together? Would he even be able to climax knowing this situation had been forced upon her while also not knowing that she had feelings for him and was ultimately okay with this if it had to be done? Just not the circumstances in which it would be. Well, there was only one way to find out....

Alara: I like wearing oversized sweaters. Not just because they're extremely comfy and cuddly, but because whenever the sleeves are really big, I get to flop them around and smack people.

Writeblr Intro!
Hi there, hello! I'm Yav!
I'm updating my intro because I somehow forgot that I never gave any actual descriptions for my WIPs the first time around—they've just been vague acknowledgements of the WIPs existing more than anything.
Some about me
—I will read just about anything —I prefer to write fantasy, although I've written in a variety of genres —All of my writing is in third person omniscient (I really cannot have just one main character to write for) —I love animals, particularly canines and felines —I love music, particularly progressive metal —I am tag game friendly, ask game friendly, and open to DMs —I don't have WIP taglists; I can make them if anyone wants though
Tumblr media
WIPs under the cut
Some of my WIPs
Castle in the Ice— The first of a fantasy series; this one opens up with Aero finding himself in a freezing field of snow and ice after a run-in with a sorceress. While trying to escape from a massive wolf, he stumbles into a castle buried under the ice and, as one does, immediately begins snooping around exploring this strange new place. To his surprise, he discovers the inhabitants of the castle are very much alive, although they might not be for much longer—more of the oversized wolves begin attacking the castle, and a team is sent out to figure out why.
current word count: 122,032 (completed, edited twice years ago, and about to be edited again)
Unnamed WIP— The first of a series; returning home from being deployed for almost a year, Second Lieutenant Riley Jacques is looking forward to the relaxation of civilian life, even if it’s only temporary. Unfortunately for him, his brother Jimmy has a knack for making things interesting. During the time Riley’s getting dragged into shenanigans, Sergeant Aaron Johnson is sent on a mission that threatens to shatter his mind, his spirit, and his reality.
current word count: 77,055 (completed but not edited yet)
Golden D— After professional wrestler James Golden turns on his tag team partner, “Double D” Drew Dunne, both men seem content to ignore each other and focus on their solo careers, but that may change when they each receive an invitation to the house of the mysterious Ragnar.
current word count: 32,196 (completed and will not be edited)
Alara at War— A man stumbles out of the woods, wearing leather armor and bleeding from an arrow wound in his stomach. When Aelin goes to help him, she unknowingly sets in motion a series of events that will determine the fate of an entire world.
current word count: 34,497 (not completed)
What Lies in the Shadows— Patrick’s wife believes he has a normal job. But he doesn’t work in an office, he works in the shadows, protecting humans from the things that go bump in the night.
current word count: 26,964 (not completed)

MERRY CHRISTMAS, TIAGO~
status: closed for @tiagonussbaum location: the houseboat  date: dec. 22nd, mid-evening
There were few things in the world, both above and below the surface of the water, that Ridley felt she could truly pride herself on - well, that was a lie. She found herself of being within the scope of a great many talents; but a master of none. None, perhaps, save for one - she was excellent with a cellphone. At this point, she could basically be part-time FBI. Internet stalking had come to fingers quicker than any other mundane human task, so when it was a foreign name she’d never heard of drawn from the Santa hat and given to her for secret santa, Ridley knew what to do.
Google was her best friend in every situation, and the mystery of one Tiago Nussbaum was no match for it’s limits. Within mere moments, Ridley was on his author page, making mental notes of the importance of rye bagels, and his long lost of achievements. From there, it turned to looking at buying guides for keywords like best gifts for famous writer and what to buy an author, until eventually, painstakingly, the choices had been narrowed down. For someone experiencing her first ever Christmas, Ridley saved no effort in the pursuit for a winner gift - was it born of the natural desire to find success, in the small ways she could, or more to impress not only Victoria Wolfgang, but this presumably notable figure in Port Vale.
How fortunate, this Tiago, Ridley found herself musing as she made the final preparations for her scheme a bit too grand for something as small-scale as a secret Santa community game. With Weldon’s help, and the promise of returning the favor, Ridley had secured a fancy-seeming messenger bag for laptops. Sure, the wrong name was embroidered on it, but the siren simply assumed that was a brand name or something, like maybe a Chad Whitley was a fancy indie designer that someone of Tiago’s status, surely, would be impressed to own. Beyond that, a hat she had deemed sleek and looking just as an author should. And, if all else failed, a gift card for the local breakfast bakery on the corner, just down from the city centre - rye bagels, they did not have, but regular ones would hopefully suffice.
Armed with these gifts, and a card, penned in her own, childish script, it would read;
I’ve always said, you can’t do your best if you don’t feel (or look) your best.
What is a writer without the right props? Or snacks!
Merry Christmas, from a hopeful new friend
- Ridley Alara
The siren had done well in her research, asking a couple of the other residents of Port Vale she had deemed ‘important’, and eventually had managed to bring her cyber-stalking talent to the real world, with little regard to how weird that should be for any totally average human. The siren blundered on, the Christmas bag swinging over her wrist oversized and dusting her path with gold and silver glitter. Aside from the picture of himself on the author’s website, Ridley was flying blind; but her assessment of him was the same she’d had while reading his legacy- man, he’s intense.
Boldly, likely with more confidence than she should have, Ridley made her way to the man seated at the bar and gently tapped his shoulder, a smile brightly worn on her features and the a light dusting of snow still coating the top of her head. “Um, so, hi,” Ridley began, unable to help a quick glance down at her hand where she’d written his name - still forever fussing over how to properly say it. “Tie-Tiago? Right? Hi, I’m Ridley, and guess what! I’m your Secret Santa. Surprise!” With that, she thrust the gift bag forward, realizing her plan had literally no advancement past this; and, belatedly, she was struck with the first of the worry of it’s kind - what if he hated it?

Steve Argyle’s Top 3 most reprinted Magic Cards
Just for fun I figured out the specifics of how the battle for “most reprinted card” actually played out in Steve’s MtG portfolio.
Everflowing Chalice was actually the first card of Steve’s to be reprinted in Archenemy in 2010 (less than five months after its first printing in Worldwake) making it the first to hold 1st place.
22 days later Bloodthrone Vampire was reprinted in M11 giving it the tie for 1st.
55 days later Chalice was reprinted in Duel Decks: Elspeth vs. Tezzeret giving it the lead again.
27 weeks later Wizards made Bloodthrone Vampire its 2011 Convention Promo, reclaiming the tie for the vampire.
A year and four months later Bloodthrone Vampire was reprinted in M13 giving it the lead for the first time.
Two years and four months later Commander 2014 saw another reprint of Chalice giving it the tie once more.  This release also saw a reprinting of Nevinyrral’s Disk making it the third card of Steve’s to have more than two printings to date.
28 weeks later was the release of Modern Masters 2015.  This set had reprints of both the vampire and the chalice continuing the tie but expanding the lead to five printings each.  Vampire Lacerator saw its third printing and secured a tie for 3rd place with Nevinyrral’s Disk.
Three months later Duel Decks: Zendikar vs. Eldrazi gave Bloodthrone Vampire the sixth printing it needed to reclaim the lead.
26 weeks later Duel Decks: Blessed vs. Cursed provided a third printing of Bonds of Faith to give it a 3-way-tie for 3rd place with Vampire Lacerator and Nevinyrral’s Disk.
But 15 weeks later Eternal Masters gave us another Nevinyrral's Disk printing breaking the tie for 3rd place and giving us a clear Top 3 ranking with Bloodthrone Vampire in 1st and Everflowing Chalice in 2nd.
22 weeks later Commander 2016 had reprints of both Everflowing Chalice and  Nevinyrral's Disk giving the chalice back the tie for 1st and also closing the gap between 1st and 3rd place.
9 1/2 months later Commander 2017 gave us another printing of Nevinyrral's Disk giving us a 3-way-tie for 1st at six printings each.
Another 9 1/2 months later still will be the release of Commander Anthology Volume II which will give Everflowing Chalice its seventh printing giving it the undisputed lead for the first time since tying for 1st nearly six years ago and also creating the first tie for 2nd place at six printings each for the vampire and the disk.
... assuming there are no reprints of either of those in Battlebond.
PS - Bonds of Faith, Bloodbraid Elf, Liliana of the Veil, Slave of Bolas, Soul Ransom, Angelic Arbiter, and Dawnglare Invoker are in a 7-way-tie for fifth place with three printings each.
Just to finish up - Flames of the Firebrand, Child of Alara, Arrow Volley Trap, Snuff Out, Briber's Purse, Kozilek's Predator, Matca Rioters, Deathrite Shaman, Lavalanche, Soul-Scar Mage, Chaos Maw, Emerge Unscathed, Illusory Ambusher, Monastery Swiftspear, and Damia, Sage of Stone are in a 15-way-tie for 12th place with two printings each.
This leaves 49 other cards that have only one printing each.
* (Not counting oversized or non MtG cards proper)

Entry 1
Well this one is going to be going over everything that has happened to date. The campaign started in tavern(of course haha) where the heros were summoned by captain of the town guard(Captain Shuli) to go and investigate some strange happenings in a near by town. The group consists of a human paladin by the name of, Arthur Matthias Ventanus, a proper man from a noble family that live to the north near the godscrown mountain range. His family are the guardians and overseers of the merchant town called Salzig. There is an Elf Druid named Alara Wolfmoon from the Wolfmoon clan. She was sent at a young age of 5 to go live in the wilderness alone growing up with a wolf. The point of this is to come into her wildshape powers, however when returning home she did not so she was sent to continue her journey with her brother fang. There is also a gnome wizard named Bilder the Tall. Bilber is on a quest of knowledge and in his jounrys and studies came across book than he doesn't understand, however he knows in heart this book is evil and now quests to find a way to destroy it or just keep it out of the hands of evil. Next we have a monk female named Briella who as a baby was left at her monastery as a baby. she was considered an abomination as she is a half-elf half-dwarf. Next we have a hafling bard named Ryan. He uses his abilities to find criminals and turn them in for money, as any bounty hunter would. Lastly we have a elven rouge. He grew up with his merchant parents owning store. One day his parents were killed and Vaylen then turned to stealing. He ended up joining a big thieves guild called The Jackals who ended up stealing a lot of money from and is now on the run doing odd jobs to get by.
Till now the heros have found that the strange happenings are coming from the relm of madness trying to bleed through to tandor. which later they found out that the god of madness Asura is trying to break free of his prison. Turns out that the book Bilber found is the seal for asura. They traveled to the kingdom of the elves Maal dorei where the king of the elves had explained to them about the king of stondor is possessed by the god of madness and then took the book from bilber to keep it safe freeing bilbers mind. They were told about the elven gods champions used 6 items of power to seal away asura, but afterwards the items were scattered across the world. The heros now need to travel world gathering these items to seal away asura again after being told by the elven king that it is their destiny.
They also found out that their friend Finn is actually the believed to be dead prince of stondor which the king tried to kill and then used it as a plot to start a war.
Over this journey Arthur found a griffon that alara helped him hatch. They have also found a few items of power already. The cloak of rillifane, the gauntlets of solonor, and are currently on their way to get the dagger of ereven.
Where we left off last time they were in a tavern when all of a sudden the village is being attacked by soldiers of stondor. The paladin tried to end it peacefully by grabbing one of the soldiers and saying if they lay down their arms their friend would live and then the soldiers killed their friend. They do not seem to be themselves or normal. There are many soldiers here ten inside the tavern and maybe another 30 more outside. Next time we will see what our heros will do and how they will get out of this situation.

In the wake of Ezra Sunstar's tabletop campaigns, I'm gearing up for my DM's next great tale.
It happens to be a sequel, although that wasn't the original intention.
We return to a homebrew continent (that part, of course, was intentional) on which exists a country formerly presided over by five warlords who each ruled over their own city-state.
I say formerly, because one of them cracked and tore the whole thing down in an attempt to protect those most dear to her. Those who... she inevitably lost, regardless.
Her name is Alara. She was known as The Overseer.
The pitch for this new campaign was a tale of legendary or mythic figures, a knights errant sort of quest to find the holy grail.
But I had just played a hero. I played a kindhearted little guy with noble intentions for a year and a half (and I'm still taking him on pbp adventurers). I didn't really want to play another hero. I wanted to explore a monster. A tragic figure.
Well. Turns out, I had one in my back pocket. With a full history of trauma and isolation and self-loathing and regret to wade through.
Oh yeah, and the rest of the campaign pitch? Each of our characters has just been offered their Heart's Desire... but only one can achieve it, in the end.
It could become a tale of cooperation or manipulation. A tale of healing, or a further descent into darkness for Alara.
Alara, whose city-state had been one enclosed by towering stone walls.
Alara, who went against everything she knew to protect those she held most dear
Alara, who ultimately lost her brother, her friends, and the one person she might have called her lover if she had allowed herself the chance.
Alara failed. Miserably.
I reviewed my epilogue notes for this character's previous campaign and sobbed.
So, yeah. This is going to be a good one.

Steve Argyle - Magic: the Gathering Archenemy: Nicol Bolas Slave of Bolas, card # 86/106
[Overall release #118] - [Reprint release #39]
The original version of Archenemy was released seven years ago on June 18, 2010 (and coincidentally contained Steve Argyle’s first reprinted card in Magic.)  The game featured a three vs. one play style and was released as four different, singly-packaged archenemy decks designed to use along with the included 20-card, oversized scheme deck to defeat three opponents.
Archenemy: Nicol Bolas is the second installment of this play variant.  This time the archenemy is a named character and the three opponents’ decks are provided along with Nicol Bolas’s deck and oversized scheme deck in a single large package.  Steve Argyle has two reprinted regular cards in the set as well as two of the oversized scheme cards which are new to the set.  Archenemy: Nicol Bolas will be released on June 16, 2017.
Slave of Bolas being included in this release was practically a given just because of the name of the card.  The card was reprinted once before, not coincidentally, in the Duel Decks: Ajani vs. Nicol Bolas release in 2011.
This card is a reprint.  For more information please see my post about the original Alara Reborn printing.
