when you got to the station, shoupe would shrink at the sight of you; hair wet, cheeks flushed, shoulders shaking, completely broken down by life. he’d feel guilty, and you both know he should, but you wouldn’t give him the chance to discredit you and send you away for the second time in a night. with your last bout of energy, you’d shove the gun into his chest, pinching your eyes shut tightly at the weight it relieved from your shoulders no longer having to carry it.
