Sometimes you pick up a book, and the words inside speak to the spirit inside of you. I found that with this book of Mary Oliver essays. I've been trying to hold onto the connection with nature that I'd found so easy at Leisureland, finding the bond fading with each day outside of the woods. And then I found this book. I sat in my favorite reading chair, surrounded by my plants and the sounds of birdsong, and read just one essay, and found the wellspring burbling deep within me. This book speaks to the exploratory spirit of the Waldorf preschooler I was and to the restless spirit of the Millennial adult I have become. Both are soothed and fulfilled by the poetical prose, called by some majestic and comforting spirit within Mary Oliver.
