knocks on your door bc i'm back n isn't that lovely?
tbh i kinda like oakheart, but he and blue rly met, hung out, then fucked which- accurate but damn ok
tho... if you're doing a bluesnow au and still want to add in misty, stone, and moss, you could totally have platonic oak and blue and he's like "sure, lemme help you add to your family with her" and is the platonic supportive edge blue needed
also you can't convince me that blue wasn't giving snow a lil goodnight kiss and said that she will commit war crimes for her (then proceeded to gut thistle like the now dickless bitch he is) like that is canon and real, i was there.
ohoh and totally see whitestorm never realizing he had a dad. someone asks him about it and he's just like, "my dad was the wind. idk his name and i honestly do not care to." (blue caused this but yk)
i also like the idea of them being adorable mates come fire joining the clan so he gets two moms and some siblings. (also imagine the sheer amount of angst you could write if tigerclaw killed snowfur and bluestar's mania really hit then-)
Anon you wanna get married
OAKHEART ISNT BAD thereās just NO CHEMISTRY when they barely talked š and blue doesnāt feel anything abt the fact that he (very inadvertently) caused snows death
One night stand/platonic/whatever oakblue IS fun to think abt but I also like the thought of thrushpelt being their fathers :,) (ignoring the plot consequences by having them all live in a perfect limbo where everythingās ok and theyāre HAPPY) no seriously blue deserved happiness and she got FUCK ALL!!!!!!!
Blue can have a little a morally gray by Accidentally having a fox or badger or monster kill thistle, itās ok no one cares :) (and tiger Probably wouldnāt be as evil either LOL)
White just had two moms that were sisters also itās ok :) itās fine ASHFKGK it would be so satisfying seeing him say āfuck youā to his dad realizing how much of a dickbag he is. Thistle can be the divorced dad who tries yet still fails, thatās all Iāll allow him
DONT MAKE ME THINK ABOUT THATā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ ouhhrhhhhgg fire seeing a healthy (for the most part) and respectful blue just fall apart in DAYS ā¦ā¦.. Iām gonna b thinking about that. Fuck you (affectionate)
#asks#AUGHHEHE he somehow killed thrush if heās apart of this still#ouhhhā¦ā¦. maybe thistle can get a redemption arc going against tiger#ORRRRRR goes w him like darkstripe š¤š¤š¤#no wait this worksā¦. anon you helped me w my āI want this specific character to be happy#without changing TOO much of the canon but still having a decent amount stay the sameā#like snow still gets hit. survives w injuries. blue rarely sees oak if at all. blah blah more plot happens#fire comes. tiger kills thrush and or snow. ok ok ā¦..#wtf I just looked up and thereās an entire silverfish. on my window beside me#yes Iām a bug fenatic but like ā¦. where did you come from#ANYWAY it would be a shame if someone drew this or exapanded upon it š¤#out of blues life and plot idk if her kids actually like. have significance#so Iām wondering if I can just exclude them entirely for simplicity LOL#hnng snow dies and how convenient that yellow shows up š¤#I canāt not give blue a girlfriend of some sort Iām sorry (thrush is included in that btw)

OK gang here we go, episode 33!
It was better than last week, which was better than the week before, so... make of that what you will.
Pic of the week!
A look of steely Dan determination.
More below!
Like I said, this episode is an improvement on the last one, by virtue of plot stuff actually happening, a few big happenings, and references to the other kids that suggest they havenāt been completely forgotten about (only mostly). Donāt get excited though - it still leaves much to be desired. I cry endlessly for the animation budget. But letās get into it...
Taichi and friends are still in pursuit of SkullKnightmon and Hikari. We found our for sure last week that the creature in the little crystal is, indeed, Millenniumon, or rather a fragment of him, and his fragments fell all around the Digital World at the end of the great war or whatever itās called and theyāre the source of the miasma and they absorb energy from the human world etc etc...
So we find this big ass crystal which seems to be the central one, I guess? because itās the biggest? and several creepy looking acolytes (dun dun DUN itās VADEMON my FAVORITE DIGIMON) surrounding it and chanting...
Vademon: Find the horcux, kill Harry Potter, find the horcrux, kill Harry Potter,
In other news, thereās a lot of doom and gloom happening with Jou, who, bereft of his underwear, is forced to censor himself with his partners head. Gomamon you donāt deserve this
Jou: I need to get away from these Nanimon before I go prematurely bald too!!
Mimi, meanwhile, is Boxing Champion of the World.
Koushirou is the only one working. Heās on his way to pick up Jou, so I guess that means Yamato will get Mimi? Thatāll be fun lol. We saw Yamato for half a second but it was the same frame of him riding Garurumon weāve seen five times already so why bother capping it.
Koushirou is also keeping an eye on the satellite situation but doesnāt know what to do about it yet. Kabuterimon asks if he shouldnāt take a break about now and Koushirou says āIām okay, besides, this is the only thing Iām good forā T___T you know this would be heart-breaking if I really believed the writers have ACTUAL PLANS to make good on Koushirou-related character development.... >:[
no this honestly pisses me off so much but I STILL do believe we will get SOMETHING for him and the others and probably not too far in the future... I think... I hope ugh
Back to Team A, they see lots of Digimon coming at them. Taichiās like āitās an attack!ā but Sora, whose Fight Mode unlike Taichiās has an actual Off switch, is about to figure out that they are in fact not interested in the kids at all and are running away from something.
Taichi: I canāt believe they didnāt want to kill us. Doesnāt everything in this world want to kill us?
The Digimon are fleeing from a suspicious crater with a familiar stone in the center. SkullKnightmon raises his own crystal fragment into the air and stuff happens.
By stuff I mean black lightning and purple-blue light which is meant to signify Evil which is mega DUMB because blue and purple are the most awesome color combo EVER I mean it throw some turquoise in there too and I will buy it whatever it is a necklace a shawl a codpiece
There are eight crystals that rise from the ground surrounding the central crystal and share energy with it. I thought the number eight might be significant you know for obvious reasons but it doesnāt appear to matter in this episode.
Evil crystals or not, Taichiās on his way to save Hikari once and for all!
Hikari: Thanks, but no thanks, oniichan.
Taichi: H-Hikari! You donāt understand! Youāre too young to go off with a strange man!
Hikari: But oniichan I love him
Taichi: Who do you think I am, Tevye!? Youāre not marrying him and thatās final!
Hikari: waaah why donāt you understand me!!
ok back to the story...
Hikari abandons her brother for his muscular studly lover SkullKnightmon.
... >_>
Using Hikariās powers, SkullKnightmon evolves to Gundamon DarkKnightmon. Meanwhile thereās lots of chanting and stuff about this being SkullKnightmonās purpose or some such. I still kinda hope we get a redemption arc for SkullKnightmon or that he has something more to do with the story...
Agumon stops Taichi from wigging out and they go to save Hikari together, but before they can they are beset from all angles by henchmen.
Sora: Hey, you take care of Tweedle Dee and Iāll get Tweedle Dum!
Birdramon: *gets punched in the head* I hope you brought enough aspirin...
Then these guys appear. Iāve forgotten their names but evil as they look they literally just stand there till they get blown up and then more appear... I guess thatās a kind of talent
Takeru: Leave the small fry to me!
Pegasusmon: Takeru when I said I wanted a Happy Meal this isnāt what I meant
Hikari begins to be absorbed into a dark pocket dimension of DarkKnightmonās or something like that. It seems like a very chill experience.
Taichi: Iāll save you! Take my hand!
Hikari: O... nii... chan... Fuck you...
ok so hereās my problem here.
This is meant to be all emotional and stuff right?? Hikariās been blowing off her brother for an unknown reason (we all figured out what it was but look the main characters donāt know and thatās what counts) and heās finally managed to catch up with her. His hand is inches away from catching hers and pulling her to safety. Sheās got creepy glowing eyes. She mouths āo..nii...chan...ā with a creepy smile before being pulled into darkness.
I know itās for kids so itās not going to be too scary or anything but there ājust like... no build up here. The storytelling style is too mathematical.Ā āWe go from Plot Point A to Plot Boint B via Battles 1 2 and 3...ā Thereās nothing happening in between to make us feel Taichiās desperation, or even to know what Hikariās feeling in this moment. Is she really okay with this? Is she having second thoughts? It doesnāt make any sense for her not to be scared. I fully expected her to go through with it, but she can be scared and still go through with it... come on...
Itās like that scene from Utena except sapped of any and all emotional impact.
I donāt really remember how Greymon got up there in the first place since he canāt fly but at least we get a scene of him and Taichi plummeting to the earth after failing to save Hikari. The kind of thing that would be dramatic if there were any kind of animation budget at all.
The one thing the show is sure to do is show us Taichiās expressions, which I guess is something... Itās just so rushed and the accompanying dialogue leaves something to be desired.
Greymon: Donāt give up, Taichi... Taichi... um. what are you doing...
Taichi: stop hitting yourself stop hitting yourself stop hitting yourself stop hitting yourself
Anyway, Taichi is Big Mad. I thought (hoped, to be honest) that we might get a glimpse of him going wild with dark energy like in the Devimon episode again... Or at least a hint that that was a possibility in the heat of the moment before Agumon snapped him out of it. But nope.
He takes a moment to be upset and then says āThereās no time to worry about what to doā and goes to save Hikari... from inside DarkKnightmon somehow :P
This does not go well.
Meanwhile Hikari is surprisingly okay for someone who was just eaten alive by sentient VantaBlack. She discovers a peculiar light inside... DarkKnightmonās intestine??? Is that where we are now??? lmao
She recognizes the light as the voice that has been calling her and tries to head towards it, but is blocked by some purple jello.
Thereās a kind of cool thing that happens here... We just had a scene where Taichi desperately tries to grab his sisterās hand and yank her out of the clutches of evil, but fails, mostly because she doesnāt do anything to help him since she is weirdly okay with the situation. Now we get a mirror of that moment with Hikari bursting out of the jello with her arm outstretched to grab what is clearly Tailmonās paw.
Only Tailmon does take Hikariās hand.
It was really cool to see the brother and sister paralleling each other this much. It shows the ways theyāre both courageous and determined and caring.
Meanwhile Taichi finally whips out WarGreymon. Honestly, I feel like this should have been WarGreymonās intro episode. This would have been a good time for a new evolution, rather than in a fight with a nobody that Iāve already forgotten. Idk. WarGreymon uses Brave Tornado to knock DarkKnightmonās lances away and burrow into his armor. So, yeah, Hikariās in his intestines, lmao.
Hikari is being chased by a two-headed monster who is in for the migraine of its (their?) life when the tornado crashes into it.
Hikari: Big brother! You look so cool!
Taichi: Promise me that no matter how many men come into your life, Iāll always be number one.
Hikari: okay that is creepy
WarGreymon explodes DarkKnightmon from the inside out xāD and Taichi gets a redo of his hand-reaching scene. First he berates Hikari for running off on her own and then smiles.
Hikari says she always believed heād rescue her. Aww.
Sweet sibling love.
Then thereās this really hilarious sound which turns out to be the Vademon hivemind giving a collective cry of distress xāD itās lmfao amazing. Then they start chanting āNext time next time next timeā just in case you thought Millennium was defeated and we can go home now.
Taichi: Sora, do you know where I can buy a leash for this kid? I canāt keep chasing her like this. Arenāt kids today supposed to be glued to their phones and never go outside?
Patamonās Girlfriend Radar piques at the bundle in Hikariās arms.
And it is indeed Tailmon, and sheās been waiting for Hikari all this time.
Tailmon: I am Tailmon, a Holy Digimon.
Patamon: oh my god you canāt just call yourself holy ugh youāre so self-centered
Dāawww.
Theyāre both sooooo cute. Iām annoyed they didnāt get a cool ending card like Takeru and Patamon did last week though. But still, this is a sweet moment.
So, thereās not a lot to complain about in this episode, comparatively speaking. I wish we had more dialogue and understood the value of a dramatic pause etc. Also wish Sora and Takeru had more to do than fight the henchmen. Like, if you can just erase an entire part of an episode and it still works fine, you clearly didnāt need that part so why waste time on it.
But at least we do get reactions from Taichi, and at least we got plot development. The Taichi/Hikari parallels were cool. And even though I had other hopes for how this arc would turn out, Iām glad itās over because maybe we can finally do some other stuff now. Maybe. I want to get back to Koushirou SOOO bad but more than anything I am still gobsmacked by how long itās been since Yamatoās had anything to do but ride on Garurumon. That is WEIRD. Heās YAMATO.
Next week...
... Looks like itāll be a light-hearted undersea episode. Iām cool with that. The preview clips had a āSebastianās Calypsoā vibe that I dig. Itās still about Taichiās group but I think thatās to do more actual face time with Tailmon and Hikari. I hope we see the others as well and if not maybe the week after. I will be happy if this episode has some personality to it.

surveys by -thoughtlessdork
Have you ever had the chicken pox? No. Iām constantly in a place of waiting for it to pass by, because everyone tells me all people are bound to have it at one point in their lives (idk how true that is, though). I am also told it gets a lot suckier as one gets older, so...not too thrilled about it at all.
how often do you do laundry? I donāt handle that chore myself, but itās done 1ā2 times a week in our house.
Have you ever been evicted? Nopes.
would you grow your own garden? I donāt see that happening. Iām a magnet for killing plants.
do you know anyone who snores? I do.
Trigger warning kinda, by the end.
what is your favorite font? Proxima Nova. Itās the default font that my org used for all documents and works-in-progress, and it ended up becoming my actual real-life favorite. Iāve always picked out that font even outside of org matters.
do you know what a wombat is? Sure.
would you make a good movie critic? Not at all. I donāt know enough about different filmmaking elements to make a reliable critic. Iāve criticized things like acting, plots, and dialogues in the past, of course; but thereās still so many things that go into films that arenāt overtly projected like lighting, symbolism, hidden meanings, etc. I donāt have a very good nose for those.
what goal are you aiming for this year? In the last 8 weeks of the year? Hmm...avoiding corona would be at the top of that list, lmao.
are you currently reading any books at the moment? No. Iāve stopped opening the book I used to constantly mention on here.
when i say foxy lady what comes to mind? BeyoncĆ©ās character in the Austin Powers movie she was in lol; her name was Foxxy.
would you have liked to have lived during the Victorian times? Wasnāt this era like a golden age of sorts for the UK? Iād love to visit for that purpose; but given the still-horrible hygiene and living conditions for most people of the time, I wouldnāt choose to live there.
would you own a Siamese cat? No.
have you ever had an ultimate adrenaline rush? I donāt think so. Iāve had bursts of energy in the past, but I wouldnāt call any of them an ultimate adrenaline rush.
do you like deviled eggs? Iāve never had them; itās not a common dish here. But they always look so good in the American shows I watch??? I really hope they taste as good as they look.
what tends to upset you? Hearing anything about animal abuse.
what's the farthest you've walked? I canāt give you a distance, but my parents opted for us to walk the whole time we were in Bali (except if we had a tour day which included transportation). Walking in an unfamiliar - and very humid - country and not knowing where anything is (this was before food and travel apps got as detailed as they are today) and ending up walking long stretches because you canāt locate any good local spots is a very easy way to run out of patience, apparently.
what is your favorite horror movie? Carrie was pretty fun.
what does your favorite shirt look like? Itās a twist on the Chicago flag, made black and red and with a raised fist in the middle. At the back it saysĀ āCM Punk: Best in the World.ā Been my favorite and most overused shirt for the past 9 years. My friends tease me about it sometimes, but I donāt care lol, the shirt is very significant to me.
is your life like a daily routine? It is, but I prefer that it is. I like when things are in my control and, for the most part, predictable. I enjoy spontaneity in short bursts.
were you ever told as a child if you eat carrots you'll have pretty eyes? So many times.
what career are you most interested in? Communications and media, so itās great that Iām headed there so far.
have you ever seen a rooster? Sure.
what time do you usually wake up? I wake up wake up by 7:30 or 8 AM, but I usually also wake up for a bit any time between 4ā6 AM. Sometimes I choose to stay up from then, and sometimes Iād want to go back to sleep.
what do you think about religion? Itās good when people use it for good, or if it has helped save a personās life. In my own personal experience, though, itās beenhard to find Christians who arenāt hypocritical. So even though I see religionās potential, I donāt have a lot of trust in believers themselves.
what made you feel most accomplished in your life so far? Graduating college.
have you ever seen a lunar eclipse? I saw the super blue blood moon two years ago, which according to a quick Google search is a lunar eclipse! So yeah, Iāve seen one.
what are you allergic to? No allergies.
do you ever feel like people hold things you do or say against you? Only my mom does this.
what can't you afford but wish you could? Front-row Wrestlemania tickets. My childhood (and now adulthood) dream is to go to Mania 50 which is only 14 years from now, but at least I still have more than enough time to save up for it.Ā
--
what is one word that sums up this year so far? Revelatory. ever felt like you were putting your life in danger? [trigger warning]Ā Yes, itās called suicidal tendencies. what do you like with your eggs? If scrambled, with cheese. If omelette...stuff that crap up with everything lol. Tomatoes, bell peppers, mushrooms, cheese, ham, bacon, and onions are all good in my book. what remedy do you partake when experiencing the common cold? The good olā wait-for-it-to-go-away life hack. would you ever spend a weekend in the mountains in a log cabin? That sounds amazing. I sure would. have you ever been called a psycho? No. have you ever taken martial arts? would you? No but I was always a little envious of my cousin who was taken to taekwondo class every weekend when we were kids. Sure, Iād take classes if I had the chance. who is someone you look up to? Nacho, but heās gone now. is there something you're anxious about? I have work jitters for tomorrow, but theyāre manageable for now. Otherwise Iām feeling pretty good. what is the longest you've gone without sleep? A little above 24. what is the longest you've been on the phone? This makes me cringe now, but it was like 8 hours long or something like that. It was still the ~honeymoon phase of that relationship and we were still clingy. We never did it again after that. do you care about calories? No. do you know someone with a really annoying laugh? Nah, canāt think of anyone. what band do you mostly always listen to no matter what mood? Paramore.Ā have you ever been to Indianapolis? Nope.
--
what type of bread do you like to eat? I eat white bread all the time, but my favorite kind is brioche. do you have any great great grandparents still living? Two greats is a bit too much donāt you think? Lmao. Anyway, my last great-grandparent died in 2010. I never knew my dadās grandparents, and my great-grandfather on my momās side had died all the way back in the 70s. what is one country that you really want to visit someday? India. who usually cooks or what do you usually crave the most? Those are two different questions haha. My parents take turn cooking; and as for my craving, I find myself seeking sushi most of the time. ever been associated in a program that was a complete waste of time? Yep, like that one time I had to attend this 5-hour mandatory program/seminar before my driverās license could be issued to me; it taught me nothing I didnāt already know about driving, and it used driving tutorials that Iām pretty sure were recorded in the 90s. This seminar took place in 2016. do weird numbers call your phone? Not regularly. Occasionally an unknown number will come in, but I reject all those. where are you right now? Sitting up on my bed. do you tend to care about other people's feelings more than your own? Yes. I really shouldnāt. what type of lifestyle do you want to obtain? if you haven't obtained it [trigger warning]Ā I havenāt even figured out yet if I love life enough to want to stay in it. A type of lifestyle isnāt much of a priority for now. what was something that use to frighten you as a child? Getting lost at the mall. have you ever been on a train? Just once. who's been in your life the longest? did you expect this person to still be around? Apart from family, Angela. Yes, sheās here for the long haul. how do you feel about anatomy? Fascinating. Iād take a class on it. Insert interesting fact here: Read this on Reddit a few days ago, so Iāll just copy-paste the whole thing:Ā āWhen Jadwiga, the King of Poland (medieval Poland referred to every ruler as King regardless of gender), was considering a marriage proposal from the Grand Duke of Lithuania, a chief concern among her court was that said Duke was rumored to have massive genitals to the point that they would kill his wife on their wedding night. Two of her councilors volunteered to travel to Lithuania to try and discover the truth of these rumors, which naturally meant they would watch the Duke as he bathed. They returned and happily reported that not only werenāt the Dukeās genitals fatally large, they were in fact a tad smaller than average, so nothing to worry about. Thus Poland and Lithuania were united, and the rest is history.ā Got a chuckle out of that one when I read it that I just had to scroll through the entire thread again just to be able to share it here lmao.

Survey #211
"i was told when i get older all my fears would shrink, but now i'm insecure and i care what people think."
What is your favorite time of day? Morning. What is your third favorite color? Ummm maybe peach. Do you care what others think of you? In most contexts, very much so. How would you dress, if you were the opposite sex? Same style I do now, really. Though not tank tops and dance pants; I'm sure I'd mostly wear loose band or graphic tees and sweatpants. Can you remember your first phone? If so, what kind was it? I think I might? I believe it was a blue one where the keyboard slides out from the bottom. Small and square-ish. What do you do to maintain your eyebrows? Nothing. What was the naughtiest thing you did when you were a child? I bit my sister's back so hard that I made her bleed, lmao. Sorry Ash. Small, crowded, zoo, artsy, and... idk. Favorite type of chocolate? Milk. What types of things would you plant in a garden? If I actually wanted one, lots of flowers. Maybe tomatoes because fresh tomatoes + bacon and mayonnaise sandwiches are fucking incredible. Favorite attraction at a carnival? Ferris wheel. What toys did you play with as a child? Plastic animals, Pokemon figures, and stuffed animals were common. Oh yeah, I loved Lincoln Logs too. What types of music do you listen to? Various kinds of metal and rock as well as indie. What, without fail, makes you cry? Mufasa dying lmao. What makes a movie really enjoyable for you? A cool plot. Usually fantasy elements. Favorite way to decorate a cake? *shrugs* What gift(s) did you get for your birthday last year? I don't remember. What do you daydream about the most? My future. Name a game you are really good at. Shadow of the Colossus probably, but considering how infrequently I play games now, I'm sure I'm nowhere near as good as I used to be. Whenever I get a PS4 and the remake tho, I'm getting that goddamn white Agro. I never did the timed challenges before, but I think I could do it. What kinds of snacks do you munch on? I don't really have snacks anymore; I try to keep them out of the house so I'm not tempted. If anything though, it'll probably be some kind of chip. What emotionally exhausts you? Socializing. How do you like to bathe/shower? With hot-ish water. The most childish part of your personality? I absolutely hate chores. Favorite type of fantasy creature? Dragons. Do your arms move when you walk? Whatās your daily routine? Wake up, check the time, use the bathroom, have breakfast, feed my cat, sit on the laptop doing nothing, maybe or maybe not have a nap at some point, shower if I need to whatever time I feel like, also brush my teeth at some random point during the day (unless I have to go somewhere; then I'll do it before I leave), eat dinner, feed the other pets, and go to bed. Did you get in trouble for cussing on accident when you were a kid? I literally yelled "HOLY SHIT, I THINK I SEE A SHARK!" when we were all in the car driving over a bridge and I swear I saw a fin in the water, lmao. Mom was. Not happy. Ever made a snow angel? Yes. Are you short or tall for your age? I'm average. At what age did you learn the Pledge of Allegiance? Idk, early elementary school. Whatās the longest youāve gone without food? When my appetite was like non-existent and I lost a shitload of weight, I think I almost went a full 24 hours. What do you think about most? What's stressing me out. Are you honestly a good person? I don't think I'm a bad one. Where would you like to be buried? I'd rather be cremated. Do you use Bing or Google? Google. Last song you listened to? "Damage" by Fit For Rivals. What was the last movie you saw in theaters? Detective Pikachu. What is ONE thing your fridge or pantry ALWAYS needs? My day will feel so off if I don't have one Mtn. Dew Voltage. Do you believe more in luck or hard work? That's a good question. Sometimes you can work your ass off and yet reap inadequate - or any - rewards, while some people pick up a lottery ticket once in their life and are suddenly a millionaire. Life's not fair, kids. But I like to think hard work usually prevails. Do you have any metal on or in your body right now? Piercings. What is your favorite thing to eat with dip? Plain chips with sour cream dip... yum. Do you consider yourself a heartbreaker? Nope. Who was the last person to tag a picture of you? Who even knows. I don't get tagged in pictures because I'm never with people to take and tag me in any lmao. Have you ever liked someone much older than you? No. Is there someone you always, secretly hope will talk to you? It's not a secret that I want to talk to Jason ONE last time to apologize on MY end. What was your first favorite band? Backstreet Boys. Are you friends with any bands? A local band, yeah; their guitarist is an old friend. Do you stay up ridiculously late for no reason? Very very rarely now. Whatās your life motto? Idk, I've never really thought about it. Last year for school, we had an assignment where we had to choose a popular song to write a story based on. What song would youāve picked? A popular song? Oh boy, idk. I don't really know what's popular that I like... Well, guess I'll think of old songs I know were. Um... Oh well I love writing sad shit, so maybe "Runaway Love" by Ludacris ft. Mary J. Blige. I already had an RP plot that was kinda inspired by it lmao. Do you like 3OH!3? If I said I wouldn't belt "'CUZ I'M A VEGETARIAN AND I AIN'T FUCKIN' SCARED'A HIM" at a club at 2 in the morning I'd be lying. Did the vacuum scare you as a child? No. Do you have a long driveway? No. Anyoneās grave you visit, regularly? No. Who was your first kiss? First person who kissed me was Juan, first mutual kiss (which I consider my "real" first) was with Jason. What was it like? Were you disappointed? Juan's kiss I didn't want, and it made me confused at the time. I had no clue how I felt about him back then. With Jason, it was incredibly sweet. I was lucky to get like a fairy tale one and not a horribly awkward memory lmao. Do you have an older brother? If so, whatās he like? Yeah. He's super super intelligent and a deep thinker. Very mature and has a great sense of humor. Are you confident? hunty- Have you ever begged someone to stay with you? Yes. Who do you want around you when youāre afraid? More than anyone, Mom. Had separation anxiety as a kid, obviously grew out of it, but if I'm seriously scared, I want my mom's presence. COMIC TEA PARTY- WEEK LONG BOOK CLUB START!
Hello and welcome everyone to Comic Tea Partyās Week Long Book Club~! This week weāll be focusing on Sombulus by Christina Major~! (http://www.sombulus.com/)
You are free to read and comment about the comic all week at your own pace, so stop on by whenever it suits your schedule! Remember, though, that while we allow constructive criticism, our focus is to have fun and appreciate the comic. Below you will find four questions to get you started on the discussion. However, a new question will be posted and pinned everyday (between 12:01AM and 6AM PST), so keep checking back for more! You have until February 17th to tell us all your wonderful thoughts! With that established, letās get going on the reading and the chatting!
QUESTION 1. What has been your favorite scene in the comic so far? What specifically did you like about it?
QUESTION 2. At the moment, who is your favorite character? What about that character earns them this favor?
QUESTION 3. What do you think caused Rana, Astyr, and Sydney to wind up bound all together since Astyr didnāt do it on purpose? Do you believe the trio will be able to become unbounded? How might this affect their relationships?
QUESTION 4. Who exactly are Hannah and Vuudo working for? Why are the two so intent in spying on Astyr? Further, what about Kazar? What spying activity is Kazar doing and why was Yanellās presence of interest to her? How will these spying activities affect the main trio?
Delphina
It's my comic! I'm so excited!
khkddn
I have not started reading yet but I wanted to say the website looks really nice. The archive is so neat looking!!
Delphina
Thanks! I know the archive is long, so having a nice-looking archive page that would be helpful for seeing where you left off was important to me. XD

I think Sydney is my favourite, but that is liable to change at any minute cuz I like Astyr and Rana and Tenge a lot too lol
kayotics
1. I think I like lot of the more recent scenes the best. I really like the emotional depth that's happening between the main characters, specifically Astyr and Sydney. The scenes where Sydney was actively working with Astyr are some of my favorite, just because it shows a lot of character growth. 2. I like Tenge a lot (I'm a sucker for nerds), but I think I like Astyr and Sydney the best! Mostly I like their dynamic and the emotional development that has started between them. Overall, the cast is really fun because they all have something unique about them. 3. I don't really have much speculation on how they became bound together, but I do think that they're going to eventually become unbound from each other, but I think that at least Rana will choose to stay with Astyr after becoming unbound. 4. Again, I haven't speculated too much on who they work for, but my guess on why they're intent on following around Astyr is he's caused some sort of significant disruption in magic before (it seems that he does that frequently enough), or he's important in some sort of larger plot that he's not aware of.
keii4ii
Can I just say I love the main trio a lot + Tenge? Also, I'm entertaining a vague AU idea about half-ascended Astyr with one blue eye.
kayotics
Oooh I like that AU
Delphina
He looks like that guy from My Hero Academia XDDD
kayotics
huh, you're right

QUESTION 5. Do you believe that Tenge will destroy his own Morphid father? If not, what do you think heāll do alternatively? Whether he does it or not, how do you think further contact with his father will affect him? What about his relationship with Astyr?
RebelVampire
1) its hard to pick so im picking two. the first one is the scene where sydney is confronted with the fact not all demshull can do magic. i felt at that point in the comic thered been a lot of build up for sydney being confronted with her own racism, and i felt that moment was a great pay off. especially cause sydney's facial expressions in the moment are just fantastic and like she got hit with a ton of bricks. for the second fave scene though, the one where astyr and sydney first meet rana and rana discovers that basically her life is a lie. there was something fantastic in the pacing and atmosphere that really drove home the fact that this was a life changing moment for rana. 2) Astyr. I like how Astyr is sort of this gray character where he's not terrible yet he causes lots of property damage that makes you think Sydney is kind of right about him. And I really just like this complicated dynamic cause it makes you feel unsure about whether to trust him or not. I also love though that deep down hes willing to risk a lot of people he cares about. 3) i actually think it was rana who bound them all, not astyr. theres one moment where rana is looking off into the distance getting internally emotional and then suddenly the alarm about essence going off triggers. and rana is shown to basically be kind of weird where thats concerned, so i think she inadvertantly bound them so she could leave with them. Regardless, I consider it inevitable that they'll become unbounded. While Rana and Astyr will probably be fine, Sydney I think is gonna be most affected. Cause at that point she's either going have to destroy the friendship or admit that Astyr isn't so bad. I assume she'll choose the latter after all the build up, but itll certainly strengthen the relationships since the relationships will have to become by choice and not force.
4) i actually think hannah and vuudo are working for whoever organized the experiments all the half-bred children were part of. cause hannah seems like the type whod do that. so obviously if that's the case, that's why theyre watching astyr. hes their favorite experiment kid and maybe someday hell do something useful. as for kazar, idk. at the moment it just feels like kazar is just doing generic spying, possibly charged with making sure there's no peace to be made (hence why yanell is of interest to her). As for the effect of hte main trio, I think theyre just gonna become public enemy number one for both groups for various reasons, cause theyre clearly super powered weirdos who know too much and should be stopped. 5) I don't think Tenge will go through with it. He'll certainly try, but I think Astyr's pleas are gonna haunt him and he'll hesitate wondering if there is some merit to his father. However, I kind of think Tenge will banish him and still not talk to him. Overall, I think Tenge is gonna start questioning his place in life more. Wonder why he continues when he has to hide out avoiding everyone. As for his relationship with Astyr, eh, it'll probably continue to just be strained cause Astyr has bigger fish to fry right now I think.

@Delphina I have to take additional time to read more comics ... but the first impression is [beautiful cartoons/drawing] ... and the website looks really nice [like how you added a store, archive and how to support your art - good job ... I might steal that ] ... did you code that website yourself or do you hire somebody to do that?
Delphina
Thanks so much! My coder buddy Kemayo built me a very simple webcomic CMS, and the store functionality is powered by Gumroad, but all the HTML/CSS was done by me!
lomcia (princess_lom)
1. DETAILS! It's the best detailed page, colors are nice for eye
2. I don't have yet fav character.... but for now Brendolyn looks ok
And I read it and I need to say, that seeing how your style changed make me impress. I got a question actually, everyone got move to do comic because of some event, movie, game etc. a] Who/what inspired you to do that comic? (I'm asking everyone that question, I just want and need to know!) b] What you feel now, when you look on your comic, how characters develop and how your style improved?
Delphina
Thanks so much! I really had a lot of fun with the colors in this whole scene, so I'm happy you like them! For me: a) Sombulus was a NaNoMango project (like a NaNoWriMo community except for comics) that I started when I was putting off what I thought was going to be my bigger, better story. The main trio of characters and the idea of world-hopping to lots of weird magical places just wouldn't leave me alone. The shape of it has changed a lot, but I'm really happy with where it's gone and it's exciting to be dropping some of the big big spoilers I've had in my head for years! b) I'm going through a lot of Act 3 right now preparing things for print, so I've been staring at pages I did 5 years ago a lot recently. Part of how I designed Sombulus was because I knew it would take a long time, I wanted to incorporate the idea of each world being in a different style. When I didn't have a lot of practice, it was much easier to get the story going in black/white until I got faster at art, but it's also nice to have a built in reason to try different software and brushes. Of course, there's a lot of loose and sloppy anatomy in the past, but I'm the kind of person who really values seeing that as a sign of growth so I'm trying not to update that much and just focus on making parts of the story clearer and more supportive of where it eventually went.
(I know this chat is specifically focused on the comic of the week, so if you want answers from people who aren't me, you might want to ask in #general maybe!)

Yeah, I asked, not everyone is answering, so I'm using week and thirsday bookclub to ask
rae
Nanomango is super good at giving people a kick in the ass for projects. You've done really good with getting it off the ground
Delphina
Thanks, Rae, it's been... whew... a while! Nanomango is a good little group project, though now that I've been at this comic for 9 years, I really think trying to do 30 pages in 30 days (even as sketches) was never going to work for me, and it's never fun to feel like you've failed to meet a goal. But one thing that I think was really good for me was participating year after year gave me sort of a drafting process? Letting what I had done stew and simmer for a few months let me see everything with fresh eyes when I came back, so I could come back the next time and focus on the parts I wanted and cut the parts that didn't seem like good directions anymore.
rae
i feel like it was easier to do 30 comics with the community we had
and yeah, editing is def a thing I wish I could do more for webcomics. >_>

QUESTION 6. Who or what do you think Rana is? Why was Rana locked away in the Library? What does all this potentially have to do with Ranaās strange abilities that seem to have some ill affects on magic? How will Ranaās abilities affect the group further?
keii4ii
I don't have theories because I'm the type of the reader who just wants to see the answers as they come, but I wanna say I am super curious about this #6.
kayotics
I read the same way, but yeah Iāve been curious about Rana too. Considering some of the recent pages have shown that Sydney has a very strange origin story, it might be safe to assume that Rana is the same. I like that Rana seems to often get the group out of trouble too. Rana has a lot of mystery around her that makes me intrigued to see what the full extent of her abilities are, since I think thereās a lot more to her
Delphina
Rana is so problematic because I love coming up with ideas for her, but it also means I gotta find a million references for gadgets and machines to draw scenes where she does cool things.
kayotics
Rana, the problematic fav
Kezhound - What it Takes
Considering we just found out that Sydney is the daughter of a spear and a magic spring, I'm guessing whatever Rana is, it's a kind of spontaneous creation too. Maybe she's the result of a computer dropped into a magic volcano
it's always possible she IS a machine from another world, one so advanced no one can figure her out
but...have we ever seen her bleed? Or injured?

QUESTION 7. What do you think happened in the past that ruined Yanellās peace talk progress? Do you believe that the Kanites and Demshul will continue their fear-mongering ways, or will Yanell advance peace again? What is your reasoning?
RebelVampire
@Kezhound - What it Takes I love this Rana is a machine theory. That is so far from something I would guess, yet would love to see be true to a degree. It fits with all the symptoms.
RebelVampire
6) I think Rana is some mega essence container or something. Like connected to the origin of it all or something like that. It adds up to me why Morphids are so super affected by her presence and why she'd be locked up in the library. You don't just leave your essence power house unattended. You lock them away where they can be "safe." As for future affects, I mean I figure at some point someone somewhere is gonna be like "Hey wait a second weird magic stuff? Isn't that the person we locked in the library?" And then more manhunts ensue. 7) I'm taking a stab in the dark and saying I think it's direct sabotage. Like Yanell's disappearance and entrapement wasn't just happen stance. There is a shadow puppet somewhere making sure that no peace will ever be had. I do think they'll get to peace though. Mostly because I'm an optimist and assume peace will prevail. And also because their entire conflict seems to be based more around fear mongering than actual things they should be that mad about.
Cheshire777
I think that Hannah and Vuudo are working for whoever is messing up Yannell's peace treatys; they're pretty much the only wild cards at this point besides the morphids.

@RebelVampire Thanks for everything, RebelVampire ... 1) really enjoyed everyoneās comments and suggestions for Offshore. Thanks yāall 2) I also rewrote/fixed the js-code on my website [www.offshorecomic.com] ... now the strips flow smoother and I added a counter in order to better follow your progression. Check it out
Cheshire777
@RebelVampire I'm guessing that the "Big Bad Boss" has some ulterior motive/motives besides just indefinitely extending the war, whether the war is a side effect or that they will profit directly from it (I've just been reading back through the old Akatsuki storyline of Naruto) I have no guess.
RebelVampire
QUESTION 8. Given whatās shown of Astyrās past, what do you think the experimenters were attempting to do? Why were they targeting half-breed children like Astyr, Cioara, and Tenge? What was their ultimate goal having Astyr explore the Weave?
RebelVampire
8) I feel like theres some power source theyre searching for in the Weave. Maybe a person, maybe just a thing, but they need someone super good at exploring the Weave to find it. I cant fathom why though, albeit i doubt it's anything good. As for why half-breeds, I think it's because they have a different sort of connection with essence and the Weave. Like we've already seen how Rana's strange relationship with essence affects Cioara, and i dont think that's entirely on Rana. I think it's just who Cioara's own strange relationship with it too since plenty of others interact with Rana fine. Either way, I think the experimenters are just trying to figure out if their atypical nature has practical uses for stuff like that.
Cheshire777
8. I think that they were probably recruiting/kidnapping anyone with odd powers, and those three just happened to be half breeds. I think that they briefly refered to other compounds? As for what they are looking for, at this point it could be a whole lot of different things, but a magic/essence/mana/etc store is quite likely.
RebelVampire
QUESTION 9. Do you believe that Astyr and Sydney will be able to successfully restore Sydneyās physical form? How might the ordeal change their relationship? How might it also change Sydneyās views on Demshul in general?
Cheshire777
They probably will, it has been established that Sydney is dissolving: a) Sydney is one of the main characters. b) we're right in the middle of finding out her backstory. She is finding reality at odds with her brainwashing (mosty through experiencing Astyr's memorys) and will have to come to terms with that.
snuffysam
1) act 3. acts 1 & 2 I was like "essence? jumping between worlds? currency? what the heck is going on?". act 3 was like "ohhhh i get what this comic is. it's a bread comic." and i love it.(edited)
2) the combo of vuudo and hannah. something about the way our heroes just keep falling for their lies, the pairing of hannah's planning and vuudo's acting... i just love them.
snuffysam
3) my interpretation is that binding is just something that happens when a demshul tries to bring someone world-hopping. since astyr is inexperienced, he goofed up and brought sydney along for the ride.
snuffysam
4) hannah's doing a truman show starring astyr. no further explanation needed. for kazar, I'm guessing she's just working for the government as a spy in general.
looking at #5, i'm wondering... is tenge & ciora's father a morphid, or the morphid? morphids seem to endlessly divide, and neither tenge nor the morphids seem to have a "hive mind". is it possible that there's just one morphid, and it happens to be in a lot of places at once?
Cheshire777
@snuffysam From what I've observed so far, the Morphid (and Tenge's) multiplication works vaguely like Naruto's shadow clones- when they split all of them have the same base memorys, they have separate experiences and basically act like different people (that are clones of each other ), and when they "regroup" the single has all the experiences of the doubles.(edited)
snuffysam
which would explain why astyr could say something along the lines of "oh, you're one of the ones that recognizes me"
RebelVampire
QUESTION 10. What are you most looking forward to in the comic? Also, do you have any final thoughts to share overall?
RebelVampire
i assume theyre a single being, but tbf i dont discount the possibility theres multiple morphid originals. in the sense that there were multiple "original" people who split into morphids. just cause it still fits with astyr saying one of the ones that recognize me. cause i highly doubt if theres multiple originals they know whose morphid is whos. again tho, just not discounting the possibility. i do get more of the sense that they were once a single entity.
9) yes because narratively i cant forsee the comic semi-killing off a main character quite yet. and sydney has unresolved matters as well, like her meeting with her old mentor and such. idk if the experience will change her view on demshul, but i think shell come to terms that astyr has some inner demons, is a weirdo, but also has a good heart. and that he isnt out to see sydney's demise. 10) im looking forward to more of everything. i wanna see all the inner turmoils, and i especially want to find more hints as to what the deal with rana is. cause astyr and sydney dont seem to care much rana is a weirdo outside of when she doesnt eat, so i will care enough for the both of them.
Delphina
I just want to thank you all for reading Sombulus! I know it's got... several pages, so I really appreciate folks who make it through everything, and such amazing thoughtful questions and responses!
keii4ii
My brain is a mush right now and I can't articulate my feels thoughtfully, but I really want to say Sombulus updates really help brighten my day, every time. I always look forward new pages and am glad it updates twice a week
Delphina
(Also this discussion made me draw Tenge as Naruto. Poor guy, I torture him so.)
snuffysam
before the chat ends, I just wanted to say that I really love sombulus, and I can't wait to see where it goes next!

GATHERĀ āROUND CHILDREN WHILE I HYPER-ANALYZE EVERY LITTLE THING IN THE IT (2017) TRAILER
1. First of all, Bill doesnāt stutter at all during the trailer. Now, i know in the book he stutters a lot less around his friends and his little brother, and thereās only him saying the one thing at the beginning to his brother and in the middle when heās talking about the sewers, but i just hope they keep it intact cause itās actually semi-important to the plot
2. You can see GULF WAX on the table of shit Bill is building the paper boat out of, not much to see here, itās just what he waterproofs the boat he gives Georgie with BUT itās just really nice how much attention to detail theyāre clearly putting into this
3. The brothers have a tender moment after Bill makes Georgie the boat, which one of the things the miniseries didnāt make super clear but itās almost bizarrely tender like theyāre saying goodbye like they both on some level know theyāre never gonna see each other again and that looks to be the same here
4. The street names and sawhorses with DERRY PUBLIC WORKS on them are another cool little detail reference to the novel
5. The bit where Pennywise pops up is very interesting to me because okay bear with me here he has blue eyes in that shot, right? Just Bill Skarsgardās natural eye color iām assuming. Later when Pennywise jump-scares the fuckitty shit out of Bill in the basement (more on that in a second) his eyes are a weird spooky yellow-green color and in most promo images his eyes are just straight-up yellow. This is significant just because, and idk if they put this much thought into it, but in the book when Pennywise first pops up in the storm drain he has yellow eyes and when Georgie looks again theyāre blue, specifically the same shade of blue eyes that his mom and brother have. Itās implied to be a deliberate ploy on Pennywiseās part to gain Georgieās trust. Anyway, thatād be cool if that made it into the movie.
6. The big sweeping shot of Derry is nice, we can clearly see the canal off to the right side of the screen which is important to a lot of the action, being where Ben first sees Pennywise and where minor character Eddie Corcoran meets his death by Creature from the Black Lagoon (Eddieās little brother Dorsey was brutally killed by their abusive stepfather, an act of violence which starts Its feeding cycle, of which Georgie is the first victim and Eddie is one of the last; more on Its life-cycle momentarily)
7. The boy on the missing poster, Patrick Hockstetter, is a fairly minor character from the book, a creepy sociopath who believes heās the only real thing in existence and other things exist solely for his amusement. He killed his baby brother when he was 5, tortures animals to death for fun and keeps their corpses in a fridge, and barely registers fear or even physical pain. He does, however, have a deep revulsion of leeches (relatable tbh) and Pennywise sends like an appendage of Itself in the form of a swarm of leeches with fly wings and mosquito suckers, flesh-colored leeches by the way that turn pink and then dark red as they suck your blood isnāt that lovely, to hide in his animal fridge and exsanguinate him before the main part of It shows up to drag him off and eat him. Interestingly, Pennywise, since Patrick doesnāt really fear anything, seems to be unable to decide what form to adopt when It takes him, and appears as a sort of running, melting wax type of figure a scene which is scary as fuck and i really hope makes it into the movie in some way, particularly since thatās really the only reason to include Patrick Hockstetter at all and we already know heāll be making a physical appearance in the film since someoneās been cast as him.
8. Ben in the library, probably writing the poem that he later gives to Bev. Oddly enough, I donāt think Pennywise actually appears to him in the book during this part, so itāll be interesting to see how much he makes his presence known. Is it just gonna be the balloon or will he pop out in Dracula form like he does when Ben re-visits the library as an adult? WHO KNOWS
9. When Eddie Kaspbrak finishes Billās thoughtĀ ā....clown. Yeah, I saw him too.ā, it flashes to him outside the infamous 29 Neibolt Street. This is of course where a syphilitic homeless man propositions Eddie for oral sex and Pennywise later takes the form of the same man in a clown suit, the disease advanced to the point that it can be more accurately described as leprosy. Later in the trailer (right after THIS SEPTEMBER) we get a microsecond-long flash of what appears to be Eddie running away from the Leper, shot in such a way that you canāt really see him, but production shots of him exist and itās confirmed that Javier Botet (Mama, Crimson Peak) will be playing him, so that should be an amazing scene iām already calling it as being one of the most iconic of the film
10. Now for the real show-stopper, the slide-show bit. Now, besides the obvious, the timeline of the movie has been moved up such that these kids arenāt kids in theĀ ā50s, but rather theĀ ā80s, right around the time IT was actually released. The slideshow freaking out appears to be a technologically updated version of/at least a scene analogous to the old picture book from Mike Hanlonās father coming to life (the projector does appear to be Mikeās,as heās the one who immediately starts inspecting it when it starts doing its thing)
11. Henry Bowers and the red balloon. This i believe is the part in the book, based on where the shot is set up, it looks like a front yard or something, where Bowers finds a balloon tied to his mailbox and a package inside fromĀ āBob Grayā (another common alias of It, along with Pennywise) containing the switchblade he uses to murder his abusive father (what is it with King and parents who are fucking jackasses?) and attempt to kill the Losers in the sewers.
12. This appears to be the climactic encounter with Pennywise in the House on 29 Neibolt Street. If you watch, you can actually see Pennywiseās fingers growing out of the clown gloves and morphing into werewolf claws, which is really cool because their plan hinges on trapping It in werewolf form so they can shoot It with silver, but It initially appears to them as amorphous (It usually does when It appears to multiple people at once until one of them, iām guessing whoever has the strongest concrete fear, says what It is and then It settles into that form) until Richie ,who had previously seen It as a werewolf in the same house, screams outĀ āItās the werewolf! The teenage werewolf!ā so this is probably right after that
13. One of my favorite shots from the trailer because if itās what i think it is, it indicates some BRILLIANT adaptation-work on Andres Muschiettiās part. Basically, in the book, there are a lot ofĀ āinterludesā, little bits and pieces of Derryās troubled history that are inserted into the story to help explain Its life-cycle and would be, in the form they are in the novel, basically unfilmable. It just wouldnāt work pacing-wise and would serve only to confuse the audience. One of said interludes is the fire at the Black Spot, an integrated but mostly-Black club where Mike Hanlonās father worked that was burnt to the ground by a white supremacist group with people trapped inside. Pennywise, in the form of a giant bird with balloons tied to Its wings, is present and is temporarily sated by this display. (a massacre or otherwise hideous act of violence has to be committed to wake It up, and another must be committed to put it back into hibernation. Itās usually active for about a year before going back into hibernation for about 27). The firelight and burnt hands/door seem to imply that Muschietti has worked this interlude in by having Pennywise taunting Mike Hanlon with a vision of the people who died in the arson/massacre which is BRILLIANT.
14. The sink scene. Of course, the shit coming out of the sink has been ratcheted up a LOT from the miniseries, but is actually fairly close to the book where it first coughs up a single bubble of blood and then belches forth a geyser, coating Bev and the entire bathroom, as well as her father who canāt see it. My only gripe is the blood seems to have been replaced with a black liquid of some kind? I hope thatās just for the trailer and itāll be red in the movie, cause it just doesnāt have the same traumatic appeal as everything and yourself and your dad being covered in blood and him not being able to see it
15. Pennywise partially obscuring his face with a balloon is something he does at least once in the book to indicate that heās about to change forms, as the Mummy on the ice that Ben sees. Now this appears to be in front of 29 Neibolt Street, so i donāt think itās Ben, but probably as heās about to transform into the Leper for Eddie. But thatās just my guess
16. The final scene. The basement. Now this is a scene that isnāt in the book at all, thereās a similar one towards the end but itās in Its lair and the rest of the losers are there so i donāt think itās that. Anyway, even though thereās no way of knowing what basement this is, itās possible that itās actually in the Denbrough bothersā house because, going all the way back to the first part of this post, Georgie so remember that whole bit where he goes into the basement to get the GULF wax, thatās the only part of the book from his POV and he talks about how heās terrified the whole time of a monster being in the basement, and itās mentioned that itās flooded from all the rain Derryās gotten recently. Iām not sure where this scene would fit in, chronology-wise, but iām willing to bet itād be some kind of ironic echo of Georgieās earlier sentiments or a replacement for Georgieās scene entirely where Bill is the one who has to go down into the basement and face his fears instead. It also might occur instead of/along with Georgieās school picture coming to life, but once again this is all pure speculation i have no basis for this other than the location
ANYWAY THATāS ABOUT ALL FOR NOW wow sorry that was super long i really needed to get that out of my system iām done now iāll have mercy and put this under a read more
