Lance looked at her over the file. "You want us to work the Naxzela case?"

"Precisely," she confirmed. "Naxzela has been the hub of multiple crime rings. I'm sure you both remember the Galra Drug ring. It seems that another individual has taken residence there within the past few years and has set up shop. I want the two of you to find out what it is, find my missing agents, and take down this ringleader. Without killing each other."

He snapped the case file closed and stood up. "Well, if that was everything, I guess it's time to go then. C'mon, lackey," he said, heading for the door, not really caring if the other agent was following him or not.

Keith watched him leave the room before whirling around to glare at Allura. "You cannot be serious about this."

The FBI Director raised an immaculate eyebrow. "What are you going to do if I say that I am? Remember Keith, you're still on thin ice with me and the rest of the Bureau, tread carefully. Dismissed."

Growling, he stood up from his chair and clomped out the door and past Coran's desk. This was going to put him through hell and back, he knew it.

Agent Diaz was waiting at the elevator, tapping his fingers in an uneven staccato rhythm on the case file. Keith stepped up next to him and waited.

"Okay, I'm going to make this as painless as possible for both of us, so listen up, don't ask questions, and everything will be peachy, capisce?"

Keith curbed the urge to snap back. That was behind him, he wouldn't let his temper get the best of him. "Capisce."

"Good. You leave the point to me, and you can do—" Lance looked him over again before turning back to the elevator, "—whatever it is you do. Find some cyber trail or something."

The other agent huffed and shook his head, keeping his temper at bay for the moment. "Right then. Can I read the case?"

The elevator doors opened, and Lance stepped in, turning to face Kogane.

"No." And he pushed the button to close the doors while Kogane gaped at him, shocked and outraged.

"Diaz, you—!"

The doors shut and began its trek downward to the parking garage underneath the building.

Keith seethed at the door, clenching and unclenching his fists as he vibrated with a rage he didn't think he was capable of anymore. "That fucker," he hissed as he jammed his thumb on the button for the elevator again, just as his phone went off.

Pulling it out, there was a message waiting to be read.

UNKNOWN NUMBER: this is diaz. meet at this address tomorrow at 0800 UNKNOWN NUMBER: 5784 Rebel Drive, Naxzela 61958

Transparency and Accountability in the Zine Community

Following some recent concerns that have been brought to my attention regarding how some zines are run in this fandom I’ve decided to go through my zine list and check them for transparency and accountability. To do this I ask 2 questions: 1. Do the zines have at least some kind of info on who is running them; 2. Do the zines clearly lay out what happens to the money they collect (does it go to creators or charity? and if charity which one?)

Fandom zines are very unique projects in that they’re based largely on trust. It’s not like buying a product from a store or a corporation where if something goes wrong there’s a complaints or customer service desk to turn to. With zines, if something happens and the people behind the project are completely anonymous, buyers and participants are left totally high and dry. Of course, organizers are free to set up their zines in whatever way they wish, and if they choose to be anonymous that’s their decision and some people will be cool with that. But many people may also decide not to support a project if they can’t tell who’s behind it. As Mr. Weasley so eloquently put it: “Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can’t see where it keeps its brain“

The info here is meant as a tool for potential participants and buyers to help them determine which projects they’re comfortable supporting, and I’ll update the list periodically as info changes.

Hi! Love your writing! I heard about someone doing a Voltron zine if you do that thing lol. I think it's called otplease or something like that? I saw it and thought of you!

I’ve heard about it, but I’m actually already in a couple of zines, and I’m wary of throwing myself into too many, just in case (I already passed one check-in with no words down, oops).  And I tend to prefer zines that are more focused?  Huge general ones like that are hard to support because, like... if people are allowed to write whatever they want, what percentage is focused on each character?  you know?

Thank you very much for thinking of me!  I do love zines, and I enjoy participating in them, but I can’t jump into every single one, alas.  Thanks again!

Bio: Hello! My name is Jess or Bot or Galaxie, I'm an office worker who hopes to one day write novels. I write fanfiction all the time, and have several long running series in the Voltron and Overwatch fandoms! I had the idea for this zine after getting rejected from another a few months ago. I was always fighting for significantly less spots being offered to writers in fandom zines, so I decided it might be nice to do my own that put an emphasis on the writers! For some reason, my friends all thought this was a good idea and encouraged me to knuckle down and get the zine going, so here I am! ^^;

Fun Fact: My family has two Siberian huskies that we mush regularly in the winter for fun. I also write for a quarterly mushing magazine called The Sled Dogger!

Announcing OTPlease: A Fandom zine for writers!

Our Zine is dedicated to showing the talent and skill of fandom authors! In recent years, fandom zines have become almost as popular as they were during the early days of fandom, back when fic was still called spec and creaters didn’t have the internet to share their content. We hope to provide a zine that is a bit of a throwback to the early days of fandom zine creation, one that puts an emphasis on the fan authors that do so much for the community at large! To do this, we decided that we would start a multi-fandom zine! 

Every issue of OTPlease will feature a new fandom and open to any ship from the fandom the issue is centering on. We'll be doing separate applications for each zine, and we will do our best to include new artists and writers each time!

Right now, we’re gearing up our team to take on our first project, but before we start accepting writer and artist applications, we need to grow our team a little bit! Follow us on Tumblr or Twitter for updates on Judge applications in the next few days if you’re interested in supporting our zine, or even working on our team!

That being said, for our first project, the biggest portion of the judging will be done late November through late December/early January (we will of course accommodate any holidays during this time!).  It is entirely possible for you to judge for one zine and then apply to contribute to the next. Across The Stars is an unofficial Voltron: Legendary Defenders fanzine started by one passionate writer with a focus on gathering and putting a spotlight on the wonderful works of many other equally passionate writers. All proceeds will be going to the Test Positive Aware Network or TPAN. For more information on the cause, please visit: https://www.tpan.com/

The Across The Stars Zine includes 17 fanfiction works totaling over 80,000 words of original content and 12 original full-color illustrations covering a diverse range of themes, concepts, and main characters brought together by a team of 27 hand-picked creators. The physical zine itself will be a Perfect Bound 6” x 9” paperback book. The Through the Cosmos Bundle will feature one double-sided clear acrylic charm by mariedisgrace, one original bookmark designed by DJ G. Young, and two exclusive mini-print versions of the cover by Hiro and an illustration by Arka WR.

✰Stretch Goals✰

At 50 preorders we will add two additional mini-prints beautifully illustrated by @mariedisgrace to all bundle orders.

At 100 preorders, an exclusive sticker illustrated by @shermansays and a collector’s edition charm designed by @spaceytears will be added to all bundle orders.

At 150 preorders, an exclusive enamel pin designed by @shermansays will be added to all bundle orders. At 250 preorders, the zine will be eligible for discounted printing and more of our profits will make it to TPAN!
