💔 💔 💔 💔
send me ‘ 💔 ’ to generate the angsty way that our muses kiss.
flonott & a kiss on an injury your muse gave to mine.
People didn’t understand. They couldn’t. Mostly because now that she knew the truth, she couldn’t actually tell what happened; if people learned she was actually a halfblood… well, she’d probably get the same fate as her dad. And she’d rather avoid that. Of course, knowing that now, her betrothal with Stefan crumbled - people blamed it on the fact he tortured her for those memories, but they knew it wasn’t that.
And of course, that meant they couldn’t really be seen together in public anymore. sometimes, it even felt like just them talking, or even just saying hi, in public was creating rumors. She hated that. But at least, they had a few places they could hide at, something they found themself doing a little more often. Somewhere along the lines, Florence knew she really started caring about him, and part of her hated that. But the other part? The other part of her just wanted to live in that moment, in that feeling.
One of those safe places was his dorm, as long as she made sure not to be seen. Which… she had her tricks for. She actually found herself going there more and more ever since she was cleared, and that night wasn’t any different. Weirdly enough, she liked the comfort he procured her, despite everything. The injuries had mostly healed by now, but some would leave nasty scars. It was the price she decided to pay for the truth.
Yet, she couldn’t help but to think… what now? She knew the truth, but what was she supposed to do with it? It was worrying, and she was scared of people finding out now. It was much scarier than the actual war itself. And for a moment, she thought Stefan knew was she was thinking, feeling his lips press against the one scar that would forever remain on her forehead. A shadow of a smile appeared on her lips for a second. “Stef… what are we going to do now?”
jevan & a kiss that won’t be remembered.
It was just one of the many they’d shared, nothing special about it. But while it lasted, Evan thought this was the best kiss they’d had. It was just them, and nothing else mattered. It’s all he wanted really, he cared little about anything else. But as he pulled away, the memories of that kiss slowly started to fade away already.
It wasn’t their first kiss. Or the kiss that lead to their first night together. Or the one they shared in that fancy gathering, just to anger her parents. Or that time they stayed up all night at the Black Lake just to see the sunrise. Or the kiss they had when the Slytherin team won the cup, back when he still played.
No, it wasn’t any of them. It was just one kiss amongst the many others he couldn’t remember anymore.
edma & a kiss as a warning.
Merlin, she hated him. She hated him so much she couldn’t get him out of her head. There was just so much about him that infuriated her, but she still always found her way back to him, always found her way back to them. She hated it, and she hated how he made her feel. And she swore to herself this was the last time as she stepped closer to him. It had to stop.
“Can’t stay away, can’t you, Bones?” Her voice was cold, as it usually was when she was talking to him. She wouldn’t admit it, but that was just her trying to convince herself she didn’t want him. Or rather, want him back. Because she did, she certainly did. And being so close in this instant, Emma knew she couldn’t deny that. Heck, he could probably tell how badly she wanted him at this moment.
She felt herself pull him towards her before she could even think about anything. It was already too late to turn back when her lips came crashing onto his. She was lost in the moment, giving herself to him, feeling like how she used to with him. But the moment she pulled away, the old Emma was gone again, leaving place to the cold one again. “This is never happening again.”
doenott & a kiss accompanying your muse injuring mine.
Everyone had told her: Stefan wasn’t good, she shouldn’t get too close. But as much as she wanted to believe them, he got under her skin, and it wasn’t long until she just blindly trusted him. She could tell people hated that, but she didn’t care. She didn’t care because she loved him.
So when she made her way to his place, she wasn’t suspecting anything. Really, she should’ve. She should’ve listened to everyone, and walked away before it was too late. She should’ve stayed home instead of coming over. But none of the bad things that could happen to her crossed her mind, and the moment she saw him, she just threw herself in his arms. She just loved him so much.
She got lost in the moment, lost in the taste of his lips. Everything about him just made her lose her mind, she’d never felt like that before. Even as they pulled away, only slightly, before his lips started trailing down her neck, Dorcas was still out of touch with reality, lost in the moment. It was only when she felt the sharp pain in her side that she was brought back to reality. This was not the type of pain she was used to around him, this was not like the soft moments they shared. Something was digging in her side, and she couldn’t stop the gasp of pain that left her lips.
Only then did she realize the rest of the world was right about him.

Why I'll Never be Over Losing Nobel
We're closing in on the start of Roswell New Mexico Season 2, and I realized that while I have lamented about this many times, I have never explained it. I've never gone into detail about why this was my first Roswell New Mexico OTP. What about it struck such a chord. Or why, almost a year after the reveal about the truth about Noah's character, it's still crushing to me that they chose to go this route.
There's been several good metas about how, knowing the truth, the meaning of the scenes are completely different. How suddenly everything takes on a different meaning, one that's abusive and sinister. And that is both heartbreaking and true.
But that's not what I'm here to write about. I want to take you back to what it was like on a first watch through, without knowing the truth. About how beautiful this ship was and why. So here we go.
First of all, could there be both a sexier or funnier introduction to a ship than for Isobel to be in bed with her husband and get a psychic call for help from Max? As she quickly excuses herself, and throws an "I love you!" over her shoulder, I was already on my way to OTP doom.
This is followed by both funny lines like, "I had to untie some loose ends at home", and the far more heartwrenching "I am married to someone who can't ever know who I am, and it kills me."
It sets up the conflict they will have to overcome. Isobel has been lying to Noah about what she is their entire relationship. And, no offense, this isn't some "on again, off again" or "second chance with the one that got away" romance. This is a marriage. They've been together for years.
Yes, I have a prejudice toward committed relationships in fiction. People who have dedicated years of their life to one another? Who have actually been there for one another when they needed them? Yes. More, pls, thank-you.
I've said it before, but I'll say it again. One of the least believable things about this show is that in a "small town", this many people near the age of 30 are unmarried. Heck, we know from Maria's palm readings that apparently even Hank, and another local at their reunion are unmarried. The alien part is more believable than that.
So Isobel being married was such a smart call to me. And, especially in a sci-fi show, was such a change from business as usual. Not many shows would dare to have a main character be married, and honestly, I remember thinking it was awesome that they'd been willing to take the risk. (Of course, we know how that turned out, but I'll save that lament for the end.)
While Noah grumps about Isobel being "predictably codependent", he is still quick to offer to try to talk to Max about what's bothering him. Further, despite Michael not being Isobel's brother in the technical sense, it's clear he understands that to her Michael is her brother. Because that "predictably codependent" line isn't just about Max. Noah includes Michael in it.
He also shows zero jealousy towards Isobel's relationship with Michael. A character in a relationship showing zero jealousy towards Isobel's closeness with an unrelated character? That was so nice to see grace my screen.
The drive-in was one of the ship’s golden episodes. From Noah asking, maybe we can both be… present? Pointing out how distracted Isobel has been since Max saved Liz. Later in the episode, Isobel goes home and does her best to keep her promise about being present for Noah by forcing a smile, but Noah sees through it. And this is one of those - omg, I love this. Because guess what? They talk. They have communication. They don’t scream, they don’t misinterpret, they don’t divert - they have a full-on honest conversation about things. Don’t see that very often on a tv show, do we?
To Nobel fans “Isobel Evans-Bracken, you are my person” was on par with “I never look away” and “I would have followed you.” We were melting, especially when Noah followed it up by showing he had set up a whole night to comfort Isobel after her bad day. This is the type of romantic interaction people write fanfics about because it literally doesn’t get put on our screens. It’s not “dramatic enough”, but this ship was giving it to us in spades.
And the good stuff kept coming. Because we still got our “rocky dramatic” moments, too. Because “committed relationship” doesn’t mean “boring.” It doesn’t mean “And then they never had a misunderstanding or anything bad happen to them. They lived in happy lala land for the rest of their lives.” It actually means that when things get rocky, it both hurts more and has extra meaning behind certain actions. And it honestly felt like, with Nobel, the writers were tackling those concepts beautifully.
Noah realizes Isobel is keeping a secret, and draws the conclusion that she’s an alcoholic. Isobel (who doesn’t yet know “she” was the one who killed Rosa, Kate, and Jasmin) knows this is the one thing she can never tell him. Not because she has to protect herself, but because she has to protect her brothers. When Noah handed her the bag and said he needed time, I was in tears. Honestly, while Liz telling Max she never wanted to see him again was very dramatic, the truth was they were not in a relationship at that time. They had just been getting to know each other after a decade apart. It’s very dramatic, and I’m sure Echo fans found it heartbreaking. I was too busy crying over Noah and Isobel. Sorry, but they were the ones in an actual relationship. They were married. This moment to me hurt more than any of the other moments because they were committed. They weren’t going home to separate apartments every night. Noah handing Isobel that bag, with the meaning of “I can’t even be in the same house as you right now”, that was the kind of pain you can’t get in a “Getting together” couple. Only a committed one.
Noah continues to struggle with Isobel’s secrets, and whether they can fix what’s going wrong with them. Talks to Max at the worse time, and even when he comes back starts to realize something is still wrong. Especially when Isobel coughs up blood and collapses, but nobody will still talk to him about it. His anger at that moment doesn’t seem off, because the woman he loves is ill and nobody will tell him anything.
But, honestly, the next big moment of Nobel gold was their confrontation when Isobel came out of her pod. “I’m married to an egg person” remains hilarious regardless, as well as “Cowboys and aliens, it’s unnatural”, and “I would never pick that sweater.”
Noah’s struggle to accept everything (Buying the gun before they’re talk, his accusation that she had used her powers on him, and later suggesting she not use her powers) was a believable storyline. It was actually nice, compared to the ease of every other human character on the show in accepting not only aliens, but ones with powers, to see someone struggle with it.
Of course, that was when the truth was revealed and the beauty of the whole relationship was completely destroyed. Noah being the fourth alien, the murderer, and on top of all that having latched onto Isobel’s mind like a leech since she was fourteen? There was no coming back from that, everything that made the ship beautiful wasn’t only a lie - it was actually Noah manipulating and abusing Isobel.
The reveal of the betrayal is very dramatic, and Karan Oberoi’s performance as the evil version of Noah is flawless. Isobel’s confrontations with him in mindscape, both at Max’s house and before his death, are incredible scenes. I can’t fault the storytelling there.
But I will never be over the “Could have been” because ships like Nobel aren’t common. Committed relationships are rarely shown in a positive light. In fact, writers seem to go out of their way to never show them as sexy or happy, but rather to show a relationship going “stale” with affairs being the most common plot they throw at every committed couple they bother to put on the screen. Even then, the relationships are often for side or minor characters, never the more main ones. I’ve even seen other fans of various shows ask, but what would they do with these characters if they’re in a committed relationship? Um… exactly what they do with the characters who aren’t. Given them plots. Y’know, the whole non-relationship part of the show? And how would them being in a committed relationship take away from dramatic moments like injury or kidnapping or loss? It really wouldn’t - they could have all those same things happen.
With Nobel, they initially presented us with a pairing that was sexy, sweet, communicated, and whose relationship did and would continue to have their own set of struggles as events and truths unfolded around them. It was gorgeous, and so rare, and, no, I’ll never be over losing that.

The obvious one: Holby City for the question game
Other anon, @galaxiesandmoons, and @crispycrumblycrust, this one’s for you too. (btw I really thought someone would’ve switched it up and sent in Casualty, lol)
The first character I ever fell in love with: Jasmine.
A character that I used to love/like, but now do not: Everyone’s saying Lofty for this one. Same boat. But also, Essie.
A ship that I used to love/like, but now do not: Dofty.
My ultimate favorite character™: Henrik Hanssen and Oliver Valentine. (I’m not going to choose between them. I may go on about Henrik all the time and connect with him in a way I connect with few other characters, but Ollie is just as fantastic.)
Prettiest character: Zosia March, no question. Jac comes close too. Kian is also gorgeous.
My most hated character: Character-wise it’d be Isaac or Evan. I really hate Jason too but that‘s just because of how he’s written.
My OTP: Johnrik, Roxvid and Zollie. Also, Ollie/Tara.
My NOTP: Flac and Essie/Raf. And while I don’t mind Hexanna I can’t get into a lot of the fics.
Favorite episode: I can’t choose. Black Dog, Blind Spot, and The Prisoner are all up there though. As is One Man And His God.
Saddest death: Is this even a question? It’s Roxanna Macmillan. David Hopkins was also really sad, but not so much for the reasons the writers intended… (David deserved better, I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it.) Tara Lo as well.
Favorite season: Don’t really have one, but I have a soft spot for Series 15 and 19.
Least favorite season: 20, I guess. Full of wasted potential.
Character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but I hate: Don’t think I really have one. Wait, does Jason count? I don’t think people on here really like him, but the wider fandom fawns over how “cute” he is all the time. *rolls eyes*
My ‘you’re a piece of trash, but you’re still my fave’ fave: John Gaskell, obviously. Also Oliver Valentine. And Henrik Hanssen could probably qualify for this.
My ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: Zosia March. Also Henrik, he’s somehow both cinnamon roll and piece of trash lmfao
My ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but I still love it’ ship: Idk, Johnrik I guess?
My ‘they’re kind of cute, and I lowkey ship them, but I’m not too invested’ ship: Essie/Sacha. Hexanna, in the right contexts. (Zav/Donna and Fletch/Raf are somewhere in-between this and OTP.)

NCIS: Los Angeles Season Eight Rewatch: “Parallel Resistors”
The basics: A shocking end to trivia night leads NCIS's Office of Special Projects into academia. Kensi makes a friend in rehab.
Written by: Joe Sachs wrote “Higher Power”, “The Dragon and the Fairy”, “Drive”, “Purity”, “The Livelong Day”, “Fish Out of Water”, “The Black Wind”, “Blaze of Glory”, “Core Values” and “Seoul Man”.
Directed by: Eric Laneuville directed “Partners”, “Purity”, “Allegiance”, “Savior Faire”, “Citadel” and “Come Back”.
Guest stars of note: Jasmine Kaur as Ganeev Patel, Kandis Fay as Pamela Volonev, Shree Crooks as Nadia Volonev, Markus Flanagan as Professor Chapman, Hank Chen as Minjun Rhee, Kurt Yaeger as Sullivan, Alice Amter as Professor Laleh Moradi, Tristen Macdonald is back from "Crazy Train" as Emily Janderman who is Kensi's physical therapist, Victor Onuigbo as Oluwa Tinabu, Jason Karasev as Yuri Volonev, Eddie Liu as Scott Young/Scott Yung/Caller, Matthew Grant Godbey returns as LAPD Det. Dan Evans and Hannah Tammien as Herta.
Our heroes: Are back to school and saving kids while Kensi meets a man who is not what he seems.
What important things did we learn about:
Callen: Thinks outside the box. Sam: Sending Kam to boarding school Kensi: Making real progress even if she can't see it. Deeks: Surfs with wounded vets on the third Saturday of every month. Eric: Makes the rare, successful phone trace. Nell: Nina Jacobs from Brown. Granger: Not a fan of Ro-Sham-Bo. Hetty: Only appeared in the credits.
What not so important things did we learn about:
Callen: Speaks to Nadia in Russian. Sam: Speaks to Nadia with math. Kensi: Much more herself as she mixes it up with Sullivan in rehab. Deeks: Made a potato clock. Eric: Not going into the field today. Nell: As Nina, has Sheldon the Eastern Philosophy PhD Candidate as a boyfriend. Granger: Taking Nadia to see her father. Hetty: Absent.
Who's down with OTP: As she starts seeing some upside to her recovery, Kensi thinks her engagement ring is something to strive for as she recovers. She and Deeks are in a good place this episode – Deeks even got a good night's rest.
Who's down with BrOTP: Callen and Sam banter about Kam's application to Keating, food for children and share a meal at the end of the episode where Sam recommends Callen adopt Eric. Sheldon and Nina (Deeks and Nell) make a good team at Braddock University.
Any Hanna family mentions: Kam is applying to Keating. The Hanna family gave her roots, Keating will give her wings (lovely phrasing and very Sam).
Fashion review: Dark blue tee for Callen. Black henley for Sam. Grey zip-up hoodie for Kensi with dark blue exercise pants. White tee with cornflower blue zip-up hoodie for Deeks. Blue plaid button down shirt for Eric over a light grey tee. Nell's dark dress with the little pale blue ovals is back. Granger is in his medium blue suit and blue and white striped dress shirt. Wherever she is, I'm sure Hetty looks smashing.
Music: None.
Any notable cut scene: One but not all that memorable. As Nell is speaking with Patel in the lab, they both notice Herta, one of the students, is especially cozy with Professor Chapman. Patel says that's against school policy.
Quote: Nadia: "How did you know?" Callen: "How did we know what?" Nadia: "To look inside the video." Callen: "I didn't know, it just came to me." Nadia: "That doesn't make sense." Sam: "What do you like about math?" Nadia: "It's logical." Sam: "Take the correct steps, you always get the right answer." Callen: "Yeah, but life isn't always like that. Sometimes, to solve a problem, you have to think outside the box." Sam: "So, you go way out on limb, think of something crazy you've never done before. Could put you back on the right track."
Anything else: A college trivia contest is going on at a busy LA tiki bar. Whitley Tech is taking on Braddock University. Whitley and Braddock are in a close battle. When one contestant from Whitley hits his buzzer to answer a question, he is electrocuted. The host of the event asks someone to call 911.
In the office, Deeks is working at his desk as Callen and Sam walk in. As Callen walks to the coffee area, he teases Deeks about spending the night on the couch in Kensi's hospital room. Deeks says no, he got 12-blissful hours of sleep at home. But it is back to the Kensi's couch that night or "the davenport of distress" as he calls it.
When Deeks goes to get coffee, Callen walks back to see what Sam is working on. Kam is applying to Keating Military Academy. Callen is disturbed – Kam is just a kid. Sam explains that Keating starts with 7th Graders. Deeks thinks Sam is shipping Kam off to boarding school. It isn't boarding school, Sam makes clear. And Kam wants to go. Deeks thinks kids who are 12 need the support of their family. Sam couldn't agree more – if they don't have family support, "they'll wind up like you two knuckleheads." Callen and Deeks are not amused. "Kamren has her roots, now she'll get her wings," is Sam's belief. Eric rings a bell to announce that every time a bell rings a special agents get their wings and there is a case on deck. Sam joins Callen and Deeks in the not amused club.
Eric and Nell have video of the electrocution. The victim, Yuri Volonev, survived but is in a coma. NCIS is involved because Volonev and his team are working on the next generation rail gun – a gun that can fire without using explosives. Callen can think of a few countries that would be interested in that technology. Eric explains while private military weapon makers have serious security, college students working on projects like Volonev and his team are not as heavily vetted. Deeks is off to Whitley while Callen and Sam check out the crime scene.
Kensi is moving much better on the treadmill. She's straighter, moving faster but still in the harness. She still has the three physical therapists working with her but they aren't moving her as much as Kensi is moving herself. When Emily the head Physical Therapist asks if she's feeling strong and more coordinated – she certainly looks that way – Kensi gives a rather indifferent "yeah." She is able to stand with the walker without help. At Emily's request, Kensi tries to walk without the harness using the walker. She moves her right leg with ease but the left is dragging. She takes a few steps before Emily tells her to sit back in her wheelchair. Kensi is compliant. Emily tells Kensi all her hard work is paying off. Kensi is not happy.
As Kensi is rolled over to the weights area. A man who lost his leg just below his knee is working with ten pound weights. He asks Kensi if she was a runway model with that walk she just took. Kensi is not amused and asks if he is trying to be funny. The man introduces himself as Sullivan and explains he was "shooting for disarming with a touch of charm." Kensi is working her injured left hand with a small, two-pound pink weight. He asks if Kensi is short for Mackenzie and Kensi says no. "Mine was an IED," Sullivan tells her, explaining his injury before asking if she fell of a stripper pole. Kensi is furious – she tells him he's lucky she's in that wheelchair. "You're a real bad bitch," Sullivan teases. Kensi tells him she'd kick his ass even if he had both legs. Sullivan mocks the little pink weight. Kensi grabs a 25-pound weight and works her right arm. Sullivan takes a 30-pound weight. This scene plays so differently when you realize Kensi winds up in a wheelchair with Sullivan calling her a bitch down the road and she works to kick his ass.
At Whitley, Deeks speaks to Professor Laleh Moradi, the head of Volonev's team. They are working on energy supplies – smaller, stronger, lighter but with tremendous power. The team is working on energy projects, only Volonev is working on one with a military use. Most of their grants are for civilian applications – electric cars, hospital generators, how to store solar power. Deeks asks how Volonev was acting before the accident. Moradi says that she and Volonev are American citizens, have high security clearance, passed polygraph and background checks. She's not worried about him.
A student named Scott walks up and hands Deeks a list of all the students working in Moradi's lab. Scott is in student affairs – if Deeks needs anything else, Scott is the man to see. Deeks looks through the students' backgrounds – they are a "United Nations" he notes. The professor explains Whitley is a world class university and they try to attract the best and brightest. As she leaves, Oluwa Tinabu from Nigeria approaches Deeks. He jokes about being the guy who sends the scam e-mails about sending cash in for frozen bank accounts. Tinabu explains to Deeks what he does and how it works with what Volonev does. Deeks replies he once made a potato clock. Tinabu says someone was trying to hack into Volonev's classified files.
At the tiki bar, Det. Evans gives Sam the faulty buzzer. Sam recognizes how it was wired. Callen doesn't think it is very sophisticated set-up an Sam agrees – the grad students could sabotage the buzzer in their sleep. Det. Evans explains the security cameras were disabled accidentally earlier in the day but came back on when the bar opened. Evans introduces Callen and Sam to Minjun Rhee, who was running the event. Rhee tells Callen and Sam he's been running this event for three years without a problem. Rhee set up the buzzers himself. A few people from Whitley set up the lights. He doesn’t know everyone involved. A cough comes from a nearby closet. Rhee says the security system hard drives are in that closet. Afraid someone is destroying evidence, Callen and Sam open the door guns drawn. A young girl with an emergency inhaler is inside the closet.
Nadia is the girl – Yuri Volonev's daughter. She's 12 and her mother thought she was doing homework in the hospital cafeteria. Nadia isn't talk to Callen or Sam, who are trying to interact with her. She walks into her father's room. Pamela, Yuri's wife and Nadia's mother is there. Nadia will whisper into her mother's ear when she wants to speak to strangers. Nadia wants to know if Callen and Sam did a deep scan on the hard drive and a RAM analysis. Callen promises to look into it. Nadia at 12 got a perfect score on her math SATs and was accepted at CalTech. Callen asks if Nadia is going but her mother says Nadia is too young and too shy. "She needs to be at home." Giving Sam a meaningful look, Callen thinks it is the right decision.
Callen and Sam ask if Yuri has any new contacts, any problems at work. Pamela doesn't think so. Asking to check out the Volonev's home computer, Callen and Sam gain a helper – Nadia. Yuri's plans for the rail gun are useless alone. Yuri's work harnesess the energy to fire the gun, others need to come up with the systems to make that work and the actual gun.
Kensi is arm-wrestling Sullivan in a recreation room. He thinks she's pretty strong for a girl but he asks if she's sure she's not a dude. Kensi tells him her fiancé talks smack when he's nervous too. The term fiancé catches Sullivan's attention – he first asks who is the lucky lady before turning his PsyOps background into figuring it out. He thinks Kensi is too old for a hipster. She calls him a dick. Sullivan eventually comes up with the idea of half-surfer, half terrier. Deeks walks in and asks Kensi if she's bored of therapy. Kensi is distracted and loses. Sullivan claims he was bored of toying with her. Deeks introduces himself to Sullivan. Sullivan asks if Deeks surfs. When Deeks says yes, he asks Sullivan if he surfs. Sullivan does not. Deeks is part of a group that takes out vets every third Saturday of the month – he'd love to take Sullivan. Sullivan appreciates the offer. Deeks wheels Kensi out of the room as Sullivan tells her to have a good day, "Special K." Again, this scene, takes on a whole different meaning – knowing who Deeks is, PsyOps – when you know how it all ends.
Bringing Kensi coffee in the outside table area, Deeks likes Sullivan and is glad Kensi made a friend, Kensi doesn't consider him a friend, more an "obnoxious ass" but Deeks doesn’t care, Kensi seems better today. Kensi says she's OK and Deeks is pleased. Kensi apologizes for being so difficult. Deeks says she has a lot on her plate. Kensi agrees but she's been taking things out on him and she shouldn't do that. He doesn’t think she does. Kensi asks if Deeks still has it. It being the engagement ring. He tells her he hocked it for a Segway – "they seem really cool, fun." Kensi wants to see the ring. He has it, now in his right pocket. They play pick a hand – Kensi choses wrong. He shows her the ring. "Stunning" she tells him but she wants him to put it away. She wants something to look forward to when she gets out of the hospital. In fact, don't show it to her at all, Kensi decides, even if she begs. Deeks likes the plan. He puts it away but Kensi wants to see it one more time. When Deeks relents, she asks him what did she just say – don't show her the ring. Deeks thinks she's crazy. "At least I can keep a promise," Kensi tells Deeks which earns her a "Touche."
Granger walks into Ops look for (a) Deeks and (b) an update. Deeks is at the hospital according to Nell while Eric explains all the grad students in Yuri's unit are clean. So is Professor Moradi who has been working in government research for 25-years. Granger tells the two that the DoD never puts all their research work at one university. Professor Chapman, the fellow moderating the trivia night, is at Braddock and is also working on the rail gun. Granger wants Deeks to go to Braddock to talk to the students. Eric says that Deeks didn't interface with the Whitley students well – he's not a science guy. Eric and Nell are vying to do the interview – they do Ro-Sham-Bo. After two ties, Granger sends Nell.
At Braddock University, Professor Chapman, who was the host of trivia night, and Nell talk about guidance systems as they walk through a large sports field. Chapman introduces Nell, who is undercover as Nina Jacobs from Brown, to Minjun Rhee, the guy who ran trivia night. Rhee is a drone expert. He and Chapman show Nell their latest project – drones autocorrecting to avoid crashes. The drones turn on Chapman and Rhee, buzzing the two men and Nell before taking each other out. Rhee's laptop also explodes. While Rhee puts out his computer, Nell talks to Eric – she needs Deeks to bring a special piece of equipment to the school – a hard drive..
At the Volonevs, Pamela tells Callen and Sam that Yuri never really works at home because home time is family time. Sam is impressed. While Callen asks about another hard drive, Nadia leaves the room. Sam talks to Eric about what's on Yuri's computer but there are no hacks and no e-mail about a hack. Nadia returns with a thumb drive with one file – a video. Yuri leaves a message for Nadia about missing her and loving her to Pluto and back. But the timeline of the video doesn't match what Yuri was doing. Callen thinks there is a message inside the video. Eric needs "more than a minute but less than an hour" to find out.
Deeks arrives at Braddock with the hard drive Nell needs – a badly burned one she quickly tucks into her bag. Minjun Rhee is the only Braddock student cleared to work with Yuri. Nell thinks the drone accident was a way to destroy evidence on Rhee's laptop. Deeks doesn’t agree – there are far easier ways to destroy a laptop. Walking into the Braddock lab, Rhee is pleased Nell wasn't scared away. Nell wants to talk to other students and introduces Deeks as her boyfriend Sheldon, PhD candidate in Eastern Philosophy. He wants to wander and is allowed to.
Rhee hopes Nell is also applying to Whitley since their financial aid package is better. The Braddock students all have side jobs to make ends meet as a tutor, TA, even a cocktail waitress. Deeks is not doing well with the students until he sees a small Ganesh sitting on one student's desk. When he starts talking about Yogastha Kuru KArmani and Bhagavad Gita to grad student Ganeev Patel, she's attentive until he leans on her desk and knocks everything off it. This gives Nell the opening switch the badly burned drive Deeks brought with Rhee's badly burned drive.
Reviewing Yuri's video, Eric finds the password for Yuri's Whitley computer embedded in the file. Callen asks if anyone was able to hack the video but they weren't – three failed attempts and you're done. Yuri copied and deleted his rail gun files from his office computer, however, after "New Student 2017" tried twice to hack his system. Eric can't trace "New Student 2017" – only it is someone with Administrator's access to the system. Callen and Sam are going back to Whitley when Nadia asks them, without going through her mother, how they knew the password was in the video. Callen said he just knew. That doesn’t work for Nadia. Sam explains using math – you take the correct steps to come out with the right answer – while other times you have to take a leap of faith.
In the gadget area (two episodes in a row!), Deeks asks what was on the hard drive Nell left behind – damage files and smoke particles. Deeks is impressed. Nell finds a keystroke logger on Rhee's computer, leading Deeks to talk about a lager (beer) from Seattle. Deeks knows what a keystroke logger is and Nell is impressed with this one. Most keystroke loggers have to be part of a Bluetooth set-up to work, this automatically turns on the computer's Bluetooth and can only be used by someone nearby. Going through the grad student, Patel stands out as a Hindu from Pakistan. The Hindus left Pakistan in 1947. And Hindus usually don’t work in bars.
Callen and Sam got ice cream for Nadia, who usually has to have a fruit bar as a treat. It is their way of saying thanks. Mother and daughter are on their way to the hospital. Sam likes Pamela's parenting skills when it comes to nutrition. While Callen and Sam banter of treats for kids, a grey Camry pulls up and grabs Nadia from Pamela. Callen and Sam try to follow the fleeing Camry and Nadia but the ice cream truck blocks them.
Sam marches into Yuri's hospital ward with security for the Volonevs. Pamela in Yuri's room is upset. Callen is wondering if Yuri saved his files on Nadia's computers. Eric has bad news – Nadia's cellphone is off. Eric is off to look at Nadia's files in the cloud. Sam tries to comfort Pamela – there is an Amber Alert for Nadia, everyone in law enforcement is looking for her. Yuri's heartrate is off the charts. Callen wonders if Yuri is aware of what's going on. Sam hopes not.
At the lab, Nell as Nina talks to Patel. Patel is impressed by Nell/Nina moving from Brown. Nell/Nina says it is nothing compared to moving from India. Patel corrects her – Pakistan. "If you think being a woman in engineering is hard, try being a Hindu in Pakistan," Patel says. Patel asks about Nell/Nina's interview. Patel is concerned the school is not putting their best foot forward when it comes to Nell/Nina. Patel says Rhee feels responsible for what happened to Yuri. Nell/Nina mentions that Patel works at the tiki bar. She says it pays the bills and she can get the trivia night students in for free. Patel had a lab the night of Yuri's electrocution so she wasn't there.
Nadia's cloud drive is iris scan protected. Eric could reverse engineer his way in but that is going to take time. Callen wants him to work as fast has he can. Yuri is now being sedated. Pamela's cellphone rings. Eric starts a trace. A polite but digitally altered voice tells Pamela her daughter is fine but if Nadia does not cooperate with the iris scan, she will be harmed. Callen writes on a pad "Ask to speak to her." Pamela follows instruction. Nadia is put on the phone. She doesn’t want to cooperate – it is not the right thing to do. She starts having an asthma attack, rightly freaking out Pamela.
When the call is disconnected, Eric can trace it to a burn phone in downtown LA on a particular block but that block has 20-buildings. Callen wants LAPD to set up a perimeter around that block. Sam promises Pamela that they will go through every building to find Nadia. Eric interrupts. Nadia took a photo with her phone – it is a black photo but Eric is able to get Nadia's location from the photo's metadata. Sam compliments Pamela on having a very smart daughter before going with Callen to retrieve Nadia.
Deeks is reciting famous Eastern Philosophy statements, impressing Nell with his level of commitment. Nell has a tracking device in Professor Chapman's bag. Chapman has all of the parts for the rail gun – forget keystroke stealing. The bag is moving, so Deeks and Nell get into position.
Callen and Sam enter a very sketchy looking building. They hear a man on a phone. Using one a telescopic viewer, they can see Nadia and her kidnappers in a room. Sam goes in through the front, taking out the two kidnappers while Callen rescues Nadia. Nadia asked if she got her photo. Sam is proud of her for being so brave and so smart. Nadia tells them she gave the kidnappers her eye scan but that doesn’t matter to Callen now that the kidnappers are dead. No, Nadia explains – a third man left with the iris scan. He was wearing a ski mask. Nadia didn't have an asthma attack after all. She faked it so she could get into her bag and take the picture before pulling her inhaler. Callen is especially proud.
Deeks sees a person with Chapman's bag leaving the engineering building, who is getting on a Vespa. After failing to stop the person with the bag, Deeks commandeers a motorcycle – Hetty would be so disappointed if she was in the episode - and chases after the bag and the thief. After an extended chase, Deeks gets the Vespa driver to wipe out. Patel is the thief.
In interrogation, Deeks wants to know how Patel got the files for the military hardware. She thought it was a solar item that needed recalibration – something she planned to do at home. She wrote code on her home computer that doesn’t work at the lab. She asked why she took it from Chapman's secure lab or how she got into the secure lab. Patel tells them that Chapman left it out for her – she does not have access to his secure lab. Deeks and Nell leave.
Eric is on the screen in the boat shed's main room. Callen and Sam are there; Nell and Deeks join them. "New Student 2017" ID logged onto a public computer. Eric caught him on security video. "New Student 2017" is Scott Young, the student who gave Deeks everyone's transcripts. Young left Whitley – he's sick. Eric sent the team his home address. Deeks wonders if Patel and Young were working together. Nell pulls up Patel's records. She was looking to get a scholarship at Whitley. With her financial hardship, Young found an easy mark.
Callen and Sam confront Patel and tell her that her plan is over. They've arrested Young and he turned on Patel, Sam lies. They say she paid Young a million dollars to help. Sam wants to know who is buying the rail gun files, Russia? China? ISIS? Patel wants a lawyer. Callen explains that Young kidnapped a 12-year old child and now she's an accessory to that. The child is missing and may not be alive. They're lying. They aren’t lying when they play Nadia's asthma attack in the hostage call to Pamela. Patel freaks. Sam says if Patel tells the truth, maybe they can find the non-missing Nadia.
Patel admits none of this is what she wanted. She interviewed at Whitley and Young approached her with an offer that would pay $250,000. Her father was a doctor in Pakistan. Doing charity work in Afghanistan, Dr. Patel was killed in a US drone strike. Her family gets $120 a month in benefits. They live in poverty, starving. They deserve better. Callen agrees but espionage is a 30-year sentence. Patel thought the risk was worth taking. Sam doesn't – Patel would be an engineer with a PhD in a few years. She'd have all the money her family would need. Patel's brother died of cholera, her mother has TB. Sam asks if she thought about the American lives that would be lost by what she's done. The lost research money. Patel yells back – the US spends billions on new weapons that make the old ones obsolete. Whatever she stole would be useless in a few years. In the meantime, she could save her family.
Deeks wonders if it is bad to feel bad for Patel? Nell finds that Scott Young is really Scott Yung, a wealthy son of a Chinese nuclear engineer with ties to Chinese intelligence. Deeks thinks Yung is trying to get his father's approval.
Patel, working the team, delivers a fake hard drive to Yung at the tiki bar. When he picks it up, he leaves and Sam goes to stop him. The two fight – Sam loses his gun early – and the folks in the tiki bar think it is part of the floor show. Sam admits Yung has skills. As the two fight, the hard drive falls to the ground. One of Yung's associates grabs it. Callen, who must have the strongest hands in law enforcement, slides down a rope (no signs of rope burn) from the bar's second floor to the first. He takes out the man leaving with the hard drive.
Callen and Sam are sharing a meal at Clifton's, the LA bar that supposedly inspired Walt Disney to create Disneyland (it was renovated in 2015). Deeks stops by. Patel cut a deal – she's probably going to be OK. He's got hot chocolate is and off to see Kensi. Callen and Sam are going to visit Kensi later with a ham and cheese panini. Nadia arrives with Granger. Nadia wanted to properly thank Callen and Sam and she does with big, individual hugs. Yuri wants to see her – he's awake. As she leaves, she says "goodnight my angels." Callen says goodbye in Russian.
Callen asks if Sam is OK missing on these nightly goodbyes with Kam. Sam explains he's not doing what's right for him, he's doing what's right for Kam. Now if Callen was to have a kid…Sam muses. A kid would require a woman, Callen tells Sam, the right woman. Sam suggests adopting Beale.
What head canon can be formed from here: The Hanna family working with Kam for her future. Sam's lifelong love affair with math. Kensi's improving state and appreciation for Deeks's support. Whatever Hetty is doing.
Episode number: Episode eight of season eight, 176 overall.

She was right there, and as he watched her from afar, he could only remember moments from the past: the pain, the guilt, the sadness. He was stuck in place for a moment, unable to move, scared of her reaction when she would see him. But then she turned, a smile appearing on her face when she saw him, and he Evan could only reciprocate her smile as he headed closer, his hand fidgeting with the ring box he had hidden in his pocket.

Poorly timed confession + Royal AU Jevan
Send me two (2) tropes from this list + a ship and I’ll describe how I’d combine them in the same story.
Both of them are the kids of two powerful houses. They’ve been meeting up in secret for a while now, with Evan starting to believe maybe life would be better if he just spent the rest of it with her. Plus, with no one knowing about the two, Evan can’t ask anyone to help him make sense of what he feels, making him do something reckless.
On the day of a big event, they meet up again in secret. Evan tells her he intends on asking her parents for her hand, they're probably both very excited about it. But just a few hours later, as he was preparing to go to her father, the later makes an announcement: he’s found a future husband for Jasmin. And it’s not Evan.
They can’t be together anymore, and Evan knows if he’d just made up his mind a little faster, maybe he would be the one marrying her in a month.

gideon & evan (fake dating au)
send me a ship/brotp + AU for a three sentences fic.
“Can’t you just pretend for five minutes?” Evan said with an exasperated sigh as he looked at the other boy, clearly not impressed. He wasn’t sure what possessed him to hire Gideon for the job, but it was too short notice now to just switch to someone else, already seeing the girl approaching. Well, he needed to show he was over her, and if the other wasn’t helping, there was only one thing left: he grabbed the other’s face, pressing his lips against his in the most natural way possible.
