This is my version of Arturos childhood/backstory and why he is so creepy.

She couldn't stand to look at her own child, the resemblance of everything she hated about herself.

She always would mention the difference between ugly people and pretty people, how only one deserved a spot in society. She never called arturo ugly, but definitely mention him to have “unfortunate features” and always seemed to be disgusted by him. Arturos mom got in contact with her illegal hospital. It’s where she could do her own unsafe plastic surgeries, surely they would operate on her son for the right price?

And that they did. Started with a simple otoplasty to fix his ears and it escalated. Started when Arturo was around 5 and by the age of 8 he was unrecognisable. She was never done, always pressuring him to say yes to doing more, no matter how it hurt.Even at that age he started to realise how horrible it all was, getting nose jobs as an adult is already taxing, but as a child it’s unbearable. Arturo was getting homeschooled because he was constantly not okay enough to go outside.

While this was happening his mother made him learn about plastic surgery, medicine and a lot of biology and anatomy. For her plastic surgery was the single best thing in life, so it made sense that her son could grow up to be a plastic surgeon. But when puberty hit and his face grew, his surgeries started rejecting. One after the other he constantly needed more surgery to fix his old ones. Eventually, someone called cps on his house after seeing Arturos bruised face with his mom. After a doctor inspected Arturo his mom was arrested and Arturo was told what he went through wasn’t normal.

Arturo decided he would be a surgeon. He already knew a lot so it made sense. He would spend hours in his foster homes reading and studying anatomy, biology and more. While his face continued to destruct, he became obsessed with plastic surgery. -definetly not because it made him feel closer to his mother-

He his his face, nobody wanted to see that. He looked disgusting, bruised face from the newest surgery. The first thing he would do in the morning was put on his mask, sometimes even sleeping with it. He couldn’t stand to look at how disgusting he looked.

Arturo hated his mom, she ruined his face, costing thousands just to get him through his face growing. But her ideologies stayed in his brain, but not the way she would have liked. Pretty people are the pinnacle of society: they’re the only ones worth listening to and admired. Every person deep in their heart wasn’t a to be beautiful, that’s why society is built on beauty standards. It’s decided at birth if you’re beautiful or not. Nobody can get surgery to be pretty, you have to be born with it. Plastic surgery is meant to help the elite and exploit the ugly.
