Having OC’s is kinda funny at times, their origin stories (fandom or otherwise) can effectively range from ‘yep. I thought I’d cool to make this guy one night,’ to ‘there is genuinely an entire evolutionary tree of guys that became this final guy. How? Uhhh, via the osmosis man idk, survival of the fittest or some shit. I’m not sure how to explain this.’
#chatter#salt grain thoughts#my ocs really do range like this#some of em you really nail the jackpot of vibes that you wanted first try#more or less#others it takes many redesigns to find what you’re looking for#or what you’re looking for just changes with you as you grow

I swear I dont wanna be mean but why does everyone keep making stella fat. Why is it that the most attractive character, whom everyone finds beautiful inside the show, is the one who is always turned fat. Like... No one would find her attractive if her canon design was like that. I promise im not being mean but I feel like the artists are always projecting themselves onto Stella and wanting to be loved like she is, cause usually the ones making her fat are fat too, like I saw your selfies and you're a bit curvy. I promise im not being mean im just curious.
For starters, send me more fat Stella’s if you can I haven’t seen that many made and would love to see more varied takes on her appearances in redesigns.
Secondly, I made her fat because I think it’s nice to have the character that’s canonically considered to be the most beautiful girl in all of magix, a fashion icon in the magical dimension, a very celebrated trendsetter, be something other than the stereotypical concept of socially acceptable fashion tropes. She isn’t an hourglass, she has cellulite and stretch marks, she’s super pear shaped, and that can be and should be considered something to be normal, since they are, and shouldn’t be seen as things that need to be hidden. Having that put on a loud and proud fashion girly seems good imo and it can only really contribute to good stuff for body image stuff and representation. I did it so people like you could reconsider that beauty is something that comes in multiple forms and shouldn’t have to fit one type of standard. If we wanna get super technical too those standards also very from culture to culture and I image that’s extended even further in Winx club.
The girls are all aliens from different worlds. There’s bug people. There’s a lady in the miss magix episode that has tentacle hair, a blue body, and tentacle hands and feet. I highly doubt beauty standards in canon would be the same as what you’re saying, ie that no one would consider her beautiful. As if people who look like her irl also would inherently be considered not beautiful too. I know lots of people who have people that think they’re the hottest thing ever and they have all sorts of different body types and traits. Lets just call it realism lol
I’m not really projecting any of my physical stuff on her also, outside of I guess stretch marks and cellulite?? But I put those on other characters too so I don’t really think that holds up. I actually put my old body type on Flora since she’s my favorite, but now I’m way more midsized, like a slightly thinner Bloom from my stuff (love this unit of measurement gonna start using the gorls as a reference point for my appearance going forward lol). I’ve always had the “socially acceptable” fat type of body, ie hourglass with even proportions and a super snatched waist. I just think it’s tired and trite to constantly reenforce the idea that “the hot fashion one” needs to be tall and thin all the time, and if she is made fatter, that she needs to look like I did ie not much of a tummy with super equal proportions, big boobs, and a big ass.
Kinda related to that also, I made a post about a lot of character design “rules” too that I think are kinda outdated and annoying, at least to me, since I’ve seen them a million times. We all have. So I decided to do something different that I think would be good for normalizing traits outside of what we consider typically acceptable for that kind of character.
I’m already very loved also and don’t need to project anything on Stella lmaooo
I got multiple partners, great friends, do modeling, and am slaying with my own fashion and appearance stuff outside of that too. That’s all independent of whatever I’m doing with her physical body type when I draw her.
Gonna level with you also, you going “I’m not trying to be mean” doesn’t erase how weird this ask is. Sounds like you have your own gripes that you need to work through. Like, if you consider those traits on Stella ugly, that means you definitely have some internalized hatred for fatness, skin blemishes, scarring, and other peoples’ general appearances if they don’t fit some specific molds that aren’t realistic for the majority of people. Even if it is just genuine curiosity, being aware of this stuff going forwards and reevaluating how you view beauty standards and bodies in general would do you a great benefit imo.
Thanks for going through my old selfies tho it was pretty weird of you but at least make sure to leave a like on them. I looked hot when I was fatter and I look hot now too sharing this with the world is the least I can do💕✨💕✨
#winx club#winx#asks#normalize other body types being considered hot because that’s just how it is irl too outside of what magazines and movies might tell you#people fall in love with all kinds of people or think all sorts of people that aren’t models are hot#and they’ve got bodies like hers#it’s just realistic if you wanna get technical lol

I just don’t think they can be as badass as Lian and Mari. They come from two badass super families and Milagro is just one of the few thousand GL and irey can run super fast
Right, so I again am assuming you’re coming from a good place. So I’m going to explain from my perspective why I think they’re badasses.
In terms of Comic Milagro, you’re right, we don’t know much about her. Hell, she’s not even a lantern as far as I’m aware. However. In my cannon, she became a lantern at 10 years old. She was forced into this life, but that gives her a clarity to point out the bullshit Legacy heroes don’t notice.
Like someone calling her friend a slur in front of a group of adults that have done nothing to protect said friend. She’ll take the ‘disciplinary action’ for breaking the asshole’s nose.
She might be one of many GL, but her ring is not the only thing she does as a hero. She learned how to fix essentially all the iconic vehicles driven by various league members and assisted in the redesign of multiple hero uniforms. More than that, and yes this is very important, she is a latina girl. Yes, we have Jessica Cruz, but think of how little kids look up to teenagers. She comes from a normal family. But she’s a hero. She. Is. A. Hero. And she doesn’t look like me, I’m a white girl, I can find heroes that look me, but not everyone has that luxury. Think about the shot in the Blue Beetle Trailer of the little boy seeing Jaime. It. Matters.
I, personally, designed her character to break the stereotype of how “Badass Women” should look. Not sure what I mean? Look at any action movie, superhero show/movie, etc and tell me how the Heroines are dressed. How many are in a tank top/plain shirt, leather jacket, jeans, and some kind of boot (combat or low heeled)? How many have that Pretty Woman moment of “look how nice I clean up which everyone will comment on”? Her femininity, her love of fashion and knitting and telenovelas and all the other feminine things are things I never see “Badass women do.”
Femininity and Badassery are not part of a dichotomy.
Miss Iris Anne West II’s family is full of scientists and reporters. Frankly more badass than either the Bats or the Arrows because they don’t have a huge fortune to fall back on. Her Great Uncle was hit by lightning. Her father gave himself powers at 12 years old (give or take) by recreating the experiment of said Great Uncle. Her family has created and destroyed and changed so many timelines. Their rogues have one of the strictest codes of honor compared to every other Villian. In the old Justice League Cartoon, Wally didn’t even have to fight his bad guy! Just told him to go to jail after having a conversation about the guy being off his meds and why it’s important he take them.
And circling back—Her family being full of reporters and scientists gives her both highly inquisitive mind and the skills to answer her questions. Knowing the difference between The Truth and The Story was drilled into her from birth. The Story is what everyone says happened in order to make the facts fit nice and neat. The Truth is what actually happened, regardless of it being “neat”. Do you know how hard it can be to hold thag belief when the rest of the world demands conformity?
“Irey can run super fast” you’re right. That is the basis of her powers, but not the entirety of them. According to her Prime Earth and New Earth Wiki pages, the full breath of her powers include:
Speed Force Conduit
Accelerated Healing, including Toxic Immunities
Enhanced Senses
Phasing
Speedforce Aura
Superhuman Duribility
Superhuman Stamina
Superhuman Reflexes
Superhuman Agility
Vortex Creations
Dimension Travel
Electrokensis
Molecular Acceleration
Telekekisis, which she often uses to pull her brother towards her.
In Prime Earth, the current run of the character, she is also noted to become the most power speedster in the world.
Again, I assume you ask this in good faith, so I will ask you a good faith question as well—Why did you only ask me about the Omega girls? By your own logic, Damian and Jon are more badass than Colin and Jai, but you only asked me about the girls.

OC Pride Challenge: Day 23
You can find the challenge here
Today's prompt is Free/Freedom so I decided to make something for my baby Inari (who I have to redesign, oops). She spent a huge part of her life without freedom and once she's actually set free, she struggles a bit at first. This is about that.
Inari still couldn’t believe it. She sat in the ruins of Shandora, staring up at the sky. Around her, Skypians and Shandia talked and laughed and even Nola the deity seemed happy. Mixed between them were the Straw Hats, the ones who had turned the entire island upside-down in such a small amount of time. One of them was her new master, Monkey D. Luffy. He was the one who had beaten Enel, who had beaten God, and had rung the Golden Belfry for everyone to hear. But when she had told him he was her new master now, all he had done was laugh.
“I’m not your master. You don’t have a master. You’re free!”
Free? There were people who said all pirates were free but she hadn’t been free for so many years. Passed around like a toy, a mere servant, she had been a possession. By now, she didn’t even know what it meant to be free. She had no idea what to do with her life now.
A huge bonfire erupting in the middle of the plaza caught her attention, distracting her for a moment. At the same time, drums started to sound and music started to play. Then, she remembered the chaos during the sea battle during which she had been taken away. She wondered if Nusstorte ever regretted taking her with him on that voyage. After all, she had been nothing but a little child.
“Inari-chan, how are you feeling?”
With those words, the flashback ended. Inari blinked rapidly to get back to reality. It was Sanji who had said those words, a calming smile on his lips. They barely even knew each other but it seemed like he had already made it one of his life goals to look after her. He acted a lot like how she remembered her siblings.
“I, uh,” Inari stammered, “I… don’t really know yet.”
“Aren’t you happy to be free?” Sanji asked, sitting down next to her.
“I am, I guess, I just… I haven’t been free in so long that I don’t really know what it means anymore.”
Sanji blew out a cloud of smoke against the night sky. “It means you get to do whatever you want. What’s a thing you like to do?”
“I like cooking.”
“We’ve got that much in common.”
“Baking, specifically. And I was always pretty good at making sushi. My past masters actually always let me cook, they were just glad they didn’t have to do it. I sometimes had to get pretty creative with the ingredients, but when it comes to food, there’s nothing a Charlotte can’t do!”
“Charlotte?”
“My family name. Charlotte Inari.”
“That’s a pretty name.”
“Thanks. It’s been a while since I got to use it. On all those other ships and with Enel, I’ve always just been Inari. Guess they wanted to forget about my family.”
“Or they wanted you to forget.”
“Or that.”
“... Sanji?”
“Hm?”
“I think I want to go home.”
That was when Luffy called out from beside the bonfire.
“HEY! INARI! Come and dance!”
A smile spread across Inari’s cheeks. She hopped off her set of stairs and hurried towards the campfire where Luffy waited for her, bopping to the music. Once she reached him, he took her by the hands and they spun around together. Inari started giggling, then laughing, laughing along with Luffy. When one song was finished, they paused for a while, cheering for the musicians.
“So, Inari,” Luffy said with a large grin on his face, “how do you like being free?”
“It’s nice,” Inari replied and she couldn’t help but chuckle. Then, she got an idea. “Hey, uh, if you wanna become King of the Pirates, you’ve gotta be heading for the New World, right?”
“Yeah!”
“Would you mind taking me with you? I know I’m pretty young but I’ve been sailing with pirates for most of my life and-”
“Sure!” Luffy interrupted with a grin. “You’re nice and you have cool powers.”. Then, he started yelling out to the entire crowd, raising his hands into the air. “GUYS! WE HAVE A NEW CREWMATE!”
“W-wait,” Inari stammered, but it was already too late.
That hadn’t been what she had had in mind. She had wanted to join her mother’s crew, so she hadn’t planned on joining the Straw Hats. But thinking about it realistically, she couldn’t really expect being shipped around on a pirate ship without joining its crew, right? They weren’t a travel cruiser. But… maybe this wasn’t so bad. She could always leave the crew once they got to Totto Land. Or she could stay with the crew and the Straw Hats could become part of her mother’s fleet! After all, staying with them didn’t sound half bad. They all seemed nice and like they’d pretty much let her do whatever. After all…
She was free now, wasn’t she?

Bring in a Junk Hauling Group to Assist With Your Next Cleanup or Cleanout Undertaking
Whether you're getting out clutter before a move or you need garbage removal after home redesigns, you don't need to handle junk disposal all alone. Hire a junk hauling group to assist you with disposing of the junk.
At the point when you're preparing for a significant cleanup or cleanout, whether in your own home or someone else's, you must be prepared to take care of business. Figuring out months, years, or even many years of amassed garbage and junk can be exhausting, both physically and inwardly. And afterward there's the heavy lifting: getting the rubbish off the property and to the landfill, recycling focus, or truck to take it to its new home. Fortunately, you don't need to go solo. You can hire a professional junk hauling group to convey some of the weight.
Junk Removal
Sometimes you just need to dispose of the clutter in your space. A junk removal group can assist you with figuring out what stays and what goes, and afterward can get those undesirable items out of your house. You could likewise call in junk haulers when you've redesigned or refurbished, to dispose of the old machines, furniture, and apparatuses you've supplanted. While hiring a junk hauling company, remember that your junk may be someone else's treasure. Look for an environmentally conscious hauling company that will recycle or give items that are still in good condition. Just because you need that old couch, foot stool, or dishwasher out of your home doesn't mean you need it dumped into a landfill to decay. A junk removal company can make excursions to Goodwill or different foundations, so you can trust that your salvageable items will wind up in a good home.
Rubbish Removal
There's a difference between getting out collected clutter and cleaning out genuine garbage. If you're managing a storing situation or cleaning the home of an older family member, the miserable truth is that you might find a lot of garbage. A professional waste removal group will have the tools to get that garbage out of the home and off the property for good. Some garbage removal companies rent out dumpsters, so you can dump sacks and boxes of rubbish nearby; toward the finish of the cleanup, the company will tow the dumpster away and dispose of the garbage properly. They'll likewise be qualified to handle and dispose of hazardous materials, like asbestos, paint, and lead, if any of those items are tracked down on the property.
Building Site Cleanup
In any development project, whether redesign, expansion, or destruction, there's a ton of flotsam and jetsam left behind. Hire a garbage removal and junk hauling business to assist with development cleaning during the job or when development is finished. Your disposal stars will actually want to handle discarded wood, shingles, machines, concrete, and other garbage, permitting you to enjoy your new space sooner. Hiring a professional to handle development cleanup can likewise be more secure than doing it without anyone's help, as you could be managing nails, screws, shards of glass, metal, wood splinters, and other dangerous items.

Liner Notes (November 30th, 2024)
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, or if you’re not in the States, just a good Thursday and start to your weekend. If you’d like this newsletter delivered to your inbox each week (it’s free and available to everyone), you can sign up here. A Few Things * I tried to keep track of the various Black Friday/Holiday sales I saw over the past week, and the community added some others to the replies. It’s always worth taking a look at as the Christmas gifting season begins. November is now over, and the year is almost over, and time has continued flying by at a record pace. We spent most of the day today putting up the Christmas tree and decorating a little bit for December. Sitting here now by the fire with the Christmas lights behind me is quite nice. * I say this with no hyperbole: Overcast is probably the most used app on my phone since its launch if you don’t count Messages and Safari. I’ve been writing about it since its debut and listened to thousands of hours of podcasts on it. I gladly pay for the premium version, and I subscribe to (and pay for) the creator’s podcast, ATP.fm, and have listened to every single episode. I love Overcast. And yet, when I saw a message saying that the app’s price was going to increase with the next payment, I couldn’t help but cringe a little. The latest app redesign has fundamentally broken the app for me in some significant ways. I can no longer play any podcasts on my portable speaker. AirPlay says it’s connected, but no sound comes out. I used to listen to many podcasts while showering and getting ready, but this no longer works. The app crashes on me every few days. Usually losing my place in whatever podcast I was listening to. And this bug where I hit back on a podcast screen and have to hit it multiple times (sometimes between 5-8) to go back to the podcast list view makes me want to throw my phone at the wall. I hate to say it, but the app has become highly unreliable for me. And the price increase has me thinking I need to look around at the podcast market again for the first time in a decade. I’ll probably move back to the default Apple app. My podcast listening has slowly decreased over the past few years, and I only listen to a handful of shows regularly these days (and then pick and choose episodes from a few others). My subscription renews in September 2025, so there’s still time for the bugs to get all worked out before I have to make a call. But I’ve been bummed out that one of my all-time favorite apps has been so untrustworthy lately, and I find the timing of that coinciding with a price increase to be extremely unfortunate. In Case You Missed It * Black Friday & Holiday Sales (2024) * Review: Career Day – I’ll Always Be This * Unreleased Blink-182 Song? * Record Store Day Black Friday 2024 Preview * Bob Bryar Passes Away * Thrice ‘Beggars’ 25th Anniversary Variant * Liner Notes (November 23rd, 2024) * The Early November Announce New Years Eve Show * Yellowcard Play “Better Days” in Manchester * Albums in Stores – Nov 29th, 2024 Music Thoughts * Imogen Heap can’t just show up and drop “What have you done to me?” and then casually mention on social media that it’s not part of an upcoming album. That’s just not fair! The song is too good. I want more! * MxPx’s dropped the one-off single “Set a Fire” a while back, but it’s stayed in pretty constant rotation for me. I love the aggressiveness and hope they continue down that path. This week had me spinning a few of their old albums, including Let it Happen, and Before Everything and After. Every time I hear “Well Adjusted,” I am shocked that it didn’t do better on the radio or find its way into the band’s live show more often. We’ll see what my final end-of-the-year stats look like, but MxPx is on track to be my most-played artist this year. They’ve been a go-to “comfort” band all year. When I’m unsure what I want to listen to, I’ve tossed one of their records on, and I’m almost always in a better… https://chorus.fm/features/articles/liner-notes-november-30th-2024/

"Creating the Ultimate Outdoor Space: Why Embers Grill & Fireplace Store is Nashville’s Go-To for Outdoor Kitchens and Fireplaces"
When it comes to creating the ultimate backyard retreat, many homeowners find themselves overwhelmed by the sheer number of options available. Should you invest in an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, or perhaps a combination of both? And with so many stores and products out there, it’s hard to know which brands and stores offer the quality and expertise needed to make your vision a reality.
For my family and me, the decision became clear when we discovered Embers Grill & Fireplace Store in Nashville. From the moment we stepped into their showroom, it was evident that Embers had everything we needed to create the outdoor living space we had always dreamed of. Whether you’re looking to design a luxurious outdoor kitchen or add a cozy fireplace to your backyard, Embers has the expertise and range of products to bring your vision to life.
What Sets Embers Grill & Fireplace Store Apart?
Before diving into the specifics of what we chose for our outdoor space, I wanted to take a moment to highlight why Embers Grill & Fireplace Store stands out from other retailers. Here are a few reasons why Embers became our go-to destination for all things outdoor living:
Expert Guidance: When we first visited, we had a general idea of what we wanted but no clear plan. The team at Embers helped us articulate our vision and guided us toward the best products for our needs. Their expert knowledge of outdoor appliances, kitchens, and fireplaces was invaluable.
Wide Range of High-Quality Products: From Challenger Designs outdoor kitchens to premium grills and fire features, Embers carries a wide variety of high-end products that are designed to withstand the elements and enhance the aesthetics of any backyard.
Customizable Solutions: Embers doesn’t just sell products—they offer solutions. Whether you need a completely custom outdoor kitchen or a simple fire pit, the team is committed to helping you build a space that suits your unique style and needs.
Incredible Showroom Experience: One of the best parts about shopping at Embers is their showroom in Brentwood, TN. It allows you to see many of the products in action, so you can make informed decisions about what will work best in your space.
Designing an Outdoor Kitchen: A Game-Changer for Entertaining
One of the first steps in transforming our backyard was deciding to add an outdoor kitchen. This was something we hadn’t originally planned, but after speaking with the experts at Embers, we quickly realized how much value it would add to our outdoor living space. We wanted a space where we could cook, eat, and entertain all in one, and the Challenger Designs kitchen systems fit perfectly with this vision.
These outdoor kitchens combine practicality and style in a way that makes cooking outside feel just as easy as cooking indoors. With ample storage, durable countertops, and built-in grills, Challenger Designs made it possible to create a fully functional cooking area that seamlessly blends into our backyard.
We were particularly impressed by the customization options available. The team at Embers helped us tailor the design to suit our specific needs, from choosing the right appliances to selecting materials that would stand up to Nashville’s changing weather. With Challenger Designs, we were able to create an outdoor kitchen that’s both a cooking space and a gathering place for family and friends.
Choosing the Right Fireplace for Our Backyard
Another key feature we wanted to include in our backyard redesign was a fireplace. It’s no secret that fire features create an inviting and relaxing atmosphere, and adding a fireplace to our outdoor space made a huge difference. After exploring a few options at Embers, we selected a gas fireplace that’s both beautiful and functional.
The gas fireplace not only provides warmth on chilly nights but also serves as a stunning focal point in the backyard. The team at Embers was instrumental in helping us select the perfect size and style to match the overall aesthetic of our space. We also appreciated the ease of use—unlike traditional wood-burning fireplaces, the gas fireplace requires very little maintenance and can be turned on with the flick of a switch.
Why Choosing Embers Was the Best Decision We Made
Looking back, I can confidently say that choosing Embers Grill & Fireplace Store was the best decision we made for our backyard renovation. From the quality of the products to the personalized service we received, Embers made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. The selection of Challenger Designs products allowed us to create a space that feels both luxurious and functional—exactly what we had envisioned.
Here are just a few reasons why I would recommend Embers to anyone looking to transform their outdoor space:
Comprehensive Selection: Whether you’re looking for a full outdoor kitchen, a new grill, or fire features, Embers has everything you need to create a complete outdoor living space.
Personalized Service: The team at Embers listens to your needs and helps you design a space that works for your specific lifestyle. They’re not just selling products—they’re helping you create an experience.
High-Quality, Durable Products: Everything we purchased from Embers, including the Challenger Designs outdoor kitchen, has been built to last. From the durable countertops to the easy-to-maintain appliances, these products are made with long-term use in mind.
Seamless Experience: From design to installation, the team at Embers made everything easy. They helped us select the right products, handle installation, and even provide maintenance tips.
How to Start Your Own Backyard Transformation
If you're thinking about creating your own dream outdoor space, here are some tips to help you get started:
Define Your Space: Before buying anything, take the time to understand how you want to use your outdoor area. Will you be cooking and entertaining? Do you need space for lounging and relaxing? This will help you select the right products for your needs.
Consider Quality Over Quantity: Investing in high-quality products like Challenger Designs will save you money in the long run. Durable materials and well-made appliances ensure that your outdoor space will last for years to come.
Don’t Forget About Comfort: Comfort is just as important as style. Choose furniture and features that will make your outdoor space inviting and enjoyable for everyone who uses it.
Seek Expert Guidance: Like we did, seek out a store like Embers Grill & Fireplace Store that specializes in outdoor living solutions. Their expert team can help you design a space that suits your unique needs and style.
Conclusion: Making Your Backyard the Heart of Your Home
In the end, creating our outdoor living space has been one of the best decisions we’ve made. Our backyard is now a place where we spend quality time with family, entertain friends, and create lasting memories. Whether we’re cooking up a meal in our Challenger Designs kitchen or relaxing by the fire, our backyard has become the heart of our home.
If you're ready to transform your own outdoor space, I highly recommend visiting Embers Grill & Fireplace Store in Nashville. Their vast selection of products, including Challenger Designs outdoor kitchens, will help you create the backyard of your dreams.

Creating a good online presence: What is the best approach?
How do you establish an online presence?
If you want to establish an online presence, social media is one of the best ways to start, you can make friends who will lift up your work and can join in on trends that will help your discoverability.
What platforms are there that you could use and why might you use them?
There are many social media sites you could use each with their own ways to create content to share, but some that I'd like to mention are; Twitter/X, Tumblr, Facebook, instagram, Tik Tok, youtube and LinkdIn.
Twitter or X is a good example of a more image based social media, of course most social media will allow videos but it’s not usually the main pull like it is with Youtube and Tik Tok. Twitter is a great place to establish an online presence with the many fandoms and communities that form around various tv shows, movies and games. If you have a particular interest in a franchise or at least like drawing content around it, Twitter is a good place to show that off as many people of that fandom would love to lift up content from their favourite media and show it off to others.
Trends are a big thing on sites like Twitter like the many drawing challenges like that in the pokemon fandom, this is when someone comes up with a fun and unique idea to draw a pokemon with new forms or maybe completely redesigning them with a specific vision in mind.
Trends like these create massive explosions of art and discoverability as people hop from post to post looking out for how each person interprets an idea and how they execute it.
Video sharing sites like Youtube, Tik Tok and Instagram specifically their short form video content is also really good for discoverability due to the constant scrolling people do and once one bit of a person’s content is shown the algorithm will often show a lot more of it right after. The video format also allows the viewer to see the creation process rather than just the final product and this type of content tends to draw in other artists and that can lead to new friends in the creative community which is always a good thing.
What is a Good way to get noticed by employers?
Should you want to get noticed by employers, going to industry events is a really great place to start. If you actually take the initiative to go out to an industry event and talk to employers, you'll get your name out there and cement yourself as someone who’s confident and out looking for opportunities. You can find out about opportunities at industry events, you can gauge what employers like and what they want from potential hires and then prepare to act on them and adapt yourself to what employers want.
Having a strong bit of work to show on a portfolio will really show to employers what you’re capable of even if you don’t have a large amount of work, one really solid and polished bit of work will really get you noticed by employers. That being said a large amount of work itself can still be a really good way to get your name out there, the more work you have out there the higher the chance you have to be seen but be sure the work you put out there is still of a higher quality or at least shows how you have and can improve. Employers don't want someone who’s static, if you can show that you can recognise the improvements you need to make and can take them on, they'll certainly like that.
There will usually be industry events hosted at universities and colleges so keeping up with what’s going on in your campus can be really helpful. Many industry events can charge for entry but they are often worth it but if you aren’t able to attend due to the price you should always go to any free ones in your area. Some events here in the UK that you could attend are the UK Creative Festival and The Big Creative UK Summit, if in the area you mays as well give events a look.
What work should you include and what should you exclude?
You should try to show off mainly just your finished work, make sure your portfolio is kept up to date with your newest and best work, you want to make sure that first and foremost it’s what you can do now that they see. You should show off who you are now rather than who you used to be as employers should have their expectations based on what you can do now.
Don’t include unfinished work as many employers will limit the work they look at from potential hires so you don’t want the only impression they get of you to be a piece of unfinished work as that’ll make you seem not very dedicated to a project or focused either. You should also try to exclude any work that’s not really relevant to the job for example: if you’re an artist who does storyboarding and designs textures for 3d models applying for a job at a storyboarding position, they’re hardly gonna need to see your texture work and would much rather see the storyboard work you have.

Top Tools and Techniques for Conducting an Effective UX Audit
Why do businesses need UX audits? Why do they need to learn tools and techniques to conduct these audits? What are the most important auditing tools and techniques they need to know about? In this article, we answer all of these questions in detail.
During a financial downturn, businesses must find ways to make the most of what they have. This includes - time, money, talent, and most importantly – the goodwill they have with their user base.
If you’re a digital company, this goodwill will come from one major source – the quality of experiences your products deliver:
86% of users are willing to spend more on high-quality, user-centric digital experiences
61% of users will take their business elsewhere after just one negative experience with a digital product
The global tech sector is currently going through a mild recession. The best companies in the world are re-evaluating and doubling down on their most potent assets.
In other words, many companies are reviewing and refining their products’ UX. Their goal is to ride through all financial challenges by securing a loyal user base.
Their main weapon of choice for obtaining this goal? UX audits.
What is a UX Audit?
A UX audit is a data-driven review of a digital product’s user experience (UX)
It empowers firms to assess their design choices and discover areas for improvement
It also helps them realign their products’ UI and UX designs with evolving user needs and expectations
If your digital product’s UX has several flaws, an audit will help you identify and eliminate them. If your digital product’s UX is highly rated, an audit will help you make it even stronger.
That’s why so many businesses of all backgrounds are lining up for top-quality UX audit services in 2024. They know that by conducting UX audits, they will:
Uncover hidden usability gaps
Gather valuable data on how users interact with each feature or design element in their product
Audits highlight all frustration points in the users’ journeys which enables designers to make straightforward yet highly effective design adjustments
Audits reveal accessibility issues, helping businesses comply with regulations and reach a wider audience
By improving user experience, audits help businesses stand out
Early identification of issues through audits prevents costly redesigns, saving businesses time and money in the long run
Are these benefits guaranteed? Yes, but only if your auditors use the right tools and techniques.
Getting UX Audits Right: Top Tools and Techniques
UX audits are investigative by nature. So, many companies make the mistake of investigating way too many things without any specific goals in mind.
These types of erroneous UX audits tend to drag on forever. The most important ‘UX audit technique’ you need to know is setting clear goals with stakeholders right at the beginning.
UX audits are investigative by nature. Many companies make the mistake of investigating too many things without specific goals. These unfocused UX audits tend to drag on forever. The most important UX audit technique is setting clear goals with stakeholders at the beginning.
Host a Stakeholder Interview
Meet with key stakeholders to align on the audit's purpose
Learn about their vision, goals, and business needs
It helps prioritize areas for improvement
Speak to Subject Matter Experts
Interview product managers, designers, and developers
Gain insights into existing user pain points, technical constraints, and opportunities for enhancement
Review Existing Data
Analyze available user research, customer feedback, and performance metrics
Get a baseline understanding of the product’s current UX
Define Measurable Objectives
Collaborate with stakeholders to set quantifiable goals
Set specific goals like “reduce cart abandonment rates by 30% before December”
Determine what a ‘successful UX audit’ will look like for you and your stakeholders
Based on these discussions, identify the most critical areas of your product that need auditing. This can be your design’s color scheme, your mobile app’s checkout flow, or your website content’s findability on Google.
Collecting and Analyzing Data for a UX Audit: The Best Tools and Techniques
Once you gain approval from stakeholders on the audit plan, you have to carry out an all-important task – data collection. There are many techniques for doing this:

Intercom - A messaging platform that simplifies customer feedback collection
Session Recordings
Analyze recordings of user sessions to see how users interact with your product
This visual data helps identify friction points in the user journey
Tools
Hotjar - A tool that provides heatmaps, session recordings, and surveys to understand user behavior
Full-Story - A platform that records user sessions and provides insights into user interactions
Conclusion
Ideally, you should UX audit your digital product every few months. And with each audit, you should try out a different technique and different tools. This type of routine and multi-angle analysis will help you perfect your product’s UX.
Your product’s UX is your biggest asset, and maintaining it is crucial for user satisfaction and retention.
Use this article as a guide to explore all the techniques and tools mentioned. Implement at least one new method or tool with each audit to consistently obtain new insights.

The Future of Networking: Embracing Digital Business Cards
What Are Digital Business Cards?
Digital business cards, also known as electronic or virtual business cards, are the modern answer to traditional paper cards. They store all the information you would typically find on a physical business card—name, job title, company, contact information—but in a digital format. Accessible via smartphones, tablets, or computers, these cards can be shared instantly with anyone, anywhere.
Why Go Digital?
Convenience and Accessibility Gone are the days of running out of business cards at a crucial moment. With digital business cards, your contact information is always just a click away. They can be easily shared through QR codes, email, social media, or messaging apps, ensuring that your information is always accessible to your contacts.
Eco-Friendly Digital business cards are a sustainable choice, reducing the need for paper and printing resources. In an era where environmental responsibility is increasingly important, going digital is a simple yet effective way to contribute to a greener planet.
Up-to-Date Information Traditional business cards become outdated as soon as your contact details change. With digital cards, you can update your information in real time. Whether you’ve switched companies, got a new phone number, or added a social media handle, your contacts will always have the latest details.
Interactive and Engaging Digital business cards can be far more dynamic than their paper counterparts. They can include clickable links to websites, portfolios, social media profiles, or even videos. This interactivity can provide a richer, more engaging experience for the recipient, making your card stand out.
Cost-Effective While there might be an initial investment in creating a digital business card, the long-term savings are significant. There’s no need for reprints or redesigns every time you run out or change your details. Plus, many digital business card platforms offer free or affordable options.
How to Create a Digital Business Card
Creating a digital business card is easier than you might think. Here are the steps to get started:
Choose a Platform There are many platforms available that allow you to create digital business cards. Some popular options include HiHello, CamCard, and Adobe Spark. These platforms offer various templates and customization options to suit your style and needs.
Design Your Card When designing your digital business card, consider your brand identity. Choose colors, fonts, and layouts that reflect your professional image. Don’t forget to include all essential information like your name, title, company, and contact details.
Add Interactive Elements Take advantage of the digital format by adding interactive features. Include clickable links to your website, social media profiles, or a portfolio. You can even embed a QR code that links to your LinkedIn profile or a vCard download.
Test and Share Before you start sharing your digital business card, test it to ensure all links and information are correct. Once you’re satisfied, start sharing it via email, social media, or directly through a QR code.
The Future of Business Cards
As technology continues to evolve, digital business cards are likely to become even more advanced, integrating with augmented reality, AI, and other cutting-edge technologies. But even in their current form, they offer a level of convenience, sustainability, and interactivity that traditional business cards simply can’t match.
In conclusion, digital business cards represent the future of networking. They’re a powerful tool for professionals looking to make a lasting impression in a digital world. So why not make the switch today and start reaping the benefits of this innovative technology?

HOW TO DESIGN A SMALL BATHROOM
OUR TOP TEN TIPS FOR TRANSFORMING A SMALL BATHROOM.
The most common comment we hear from our clients is that their bathroom is ‘small’ or ‘tiny’. When in reality, it’s usually the same size as most of the bathrooms that we transform. You get so used to seeing your own bathroom in the layout it’s in, that it becomes difficult to imagine it in any other way. Thus, you believe this is the blueprint of the room and end up accepting there are no other options for your small bathroom. However, depending on your style, small rooms have the potential to be bright and airy or dark and dramatic just like their larger counterparts. Many hotels have small bathrooms that offer a practical layout.
Small ensuite bathrooms are just as exciting to a designer as any large bathroom. We must think intelligently about the layout, products that we use as well as the style. So that we achieve the maximum potential out of the space while keeping to our client’s brief. It’s a challenge we love.
So, do you think your bathroom is miniature and in need of a transformation? Continue reading for our tips on where to start transforming your space. We will be using a typical bathroom footprint to demonstrate how we designed it using our experience and knowledge. Here are our top ten tips on how to approach a bathroom that is perhaps a tricky shape or simply smaller than you wish it to be; including some neat ways we believe you can trick your eyes into seeing a room that looks bigger than it really is while also offering practical solutions.
1: KEEP YOUR BATHROOM CLUTTER FREE!
When you’ve had your bathroom redesigned and beautifully installed, the last thing you want to see are half empty bottles of shampoo and body wash displayed on the side of the basin or the bath. Storage is a major factor in keeping your bathroom looking fresh, neat and tidy. An uncluttered bathroom will also help your mind and body to relax at the end of the day. However, the trick is to know what storage to choose and how much you really need. Read on to find out more in our ‘proportion’ tip.
2: WALL HUNG FURNITURE AND WCS
Maximising floor space is key to making the footprint of the room feel larger. Whatever material you use on the floor; be it tiles, Amtico or the like, lifting the furniture and toilet off the floor will create an illusion that your bathroom is much bigger than it actually is. Doing so will also allow for further lighting features which will eradicate shadows – another top tip that we elaborate on further on in the post! Having these items elevated above the floor also offers a practical benefit when it comes to housework; the floor will be easier to clean with no awkward obstacles to clean around.
3: SHADOW GAP LIGHTING
So, your WC and basin unit are now wall hung. However, you’re left with a shadow on the floor which still gives the impression that the space below the unit is unusable. Resulting in the room feeling the same size as when you first started! This is where shadow gap lighting is essential; using LED strips or mini spotlights toilluminate those areas, not only eradicates the shadows but connects that space back to the room. Moreover, it also offers a secondary lighting option which is softer, less direct and enhances a ‘mood’ effect for long soaks in the bath or relaxing rainfall showers.
4: BIG TILES, LESS GROUT LINES!
The seamless look is evermore sought after. Tiles are getting bigger, new technologies in bathroom design are allowing for waterproof wallpapers and the prospect of waterproof plaster in residential properties is a near reality. The fewer grout lines you have will present your brain with less opportunity to calculate how wide or deep a room is. Opting for larger tiles to reduce grout lines gives a seamless and joint-less appearance. With an added benefit of being easier to maintain, as soap and limescale has less to take hold of.
5: RECESSES
Whether they are in a shower wall or above a bath, recesses help the eye to see beyond the wall face by giving it an extra depth which tricks the brain to see further into the space. Incorporating these into your bath and shower areas offers a practical shelf for storing your essential items when you need them. Dressing this space with stylish candles will also transform your mood when opting for long soaks in the bath! If you’re not using the space above your WC for a cabinet, why not create a feature out of it and add some extra recesses here for your more decorative bits and bobs. Placing a light into these recesses is also a great way to accentuate depth and create a softer feature light for your moody bathing and showering times, or indeed low-level lighting for night time visits to the WC.
6: FEATURE WALLS
Decorating a feature wall or using a contrast tile of some sort, such as a darker shade, differing texture or exciting mosaic brings your eye further into that area making your brain see beyond the three walls that build your bath or shower area. Giving the illusion that the wall is further away than it is.
7: PROPORTION – SIZE REALLY DOES MATTER!
Just because you could physically fit a freestanding bath or a double basin in the space, doesn’t mean that’s the right option for the room. Everything must be in proportion to each other. Having a small shower and WC but a huge, wide basin is only going to make the units look disproportionate. It will leave the user thinking the room isn’t big enough for that piece of furniture. Likewise, trying to squeeze a freestanding bath tight between two walls will only make the area look cramped – while also filling it with shadows and dust traps. Naturally, we want storage in our bathrooms, as we generally have several products that we like to use – most of which are used daily. However, just because you have a free wall, doesn’t mean you should put a cupboard on it. If you introduce too much boxy furniture, you will end up creating a closed in feel and make the room appear smaller. Our recommendation is to get a sleek unit underneath the basin (preferably wall hung), a mirrored illuminating (and why not demisting?) cabinet above your basin and then some stylish open recesses as mentioned above!
8: DON’T FULLY TILE
Instead of fully tiling, add depth with a painted finish or a contrasting wallpaper. This is key to adding warmth and softness to a space that is otherwise filled with hard surfaces. Wallpaper is also a great way to help with acoustics. Especially if you’re worried about an echo-filled bathroom.
9: MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL…
Add a fabulouslarge mirror (although ensure you keep it within proportion of the room) to create depth and an illusion of space at eye level in your bathroom. Whether it’s a mirrored cabinet, hanging wall mirror that matches the width of your basin or, if you opt to go down the bespoke route; a mirror that fits the top half of your wall. This is a great way to instantly double the appearance of the space you have. If budget allows, opt for a demisting pad. A must if you’re planning to use the mirror after a long bathe or steamy shower!
10: WET ROOMS
Another way to elongate a bathroom is to remove the bath or shower tray. This wetroom option means that you can continue your floor tiling into the shower area thus expanding the appearance of the floor dimensions. You will maximise the space that your bathroom has to offer. The trick to a successful wetroom is to have a professional company to install them – this is one area you can’t afford to cut corners. We recommend going with a company, like ourselves, who offer a five-year guarantee. That way, you can be confident with your new space and thoroughly enjoy your new shower.
…and that’s our top ten tips on how to approach the design of your ‘small’ bathroom.
If you would like to start your journey to a fabulous new bathroom, don’t hesitate to book your initial consultation with one of our designers. Or explore more of our bathroom transformations. You can also find us on Houzz and start saving to your own scrapbook!
Whatever your style, budget or room size, just remember this; when you see an interior style you like, with a bit of planning, it too can be adapted and applied to your bathroom. Just because the bathroom on Houzz, Pinterest or Magazine appears to be double the space you have, that doesn’t mean the same interior design scheme can’t be adapted to fit your space.
We hope you enjoyed these top ten tips! If you found them useful, please do share the link with your friends and family.

Mobile - First Design : Crafting User - Centric interfaces for Mobile Applications
Are you tired of websites and applications that don’t quite fit on your mobile screen? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. The world has gone mobile, and it’s high time for designers to catch up! Welcome to our blog post on ‘Mobile-First Design: Crafting User-Centric Interfaces for Mobile Applications.’
In this digital era where smartphones are king, we’ll explore the importance of putting mobile users first and how designing with their needs in mind can lead to engaging, intuitive interfaces that captivate audiences. Get ready to dive into a world where the small screen reigns supreme – let’s revolutionize mobile design together!
Introduction To Mobile-First Design
When it comes to mobile app design, the focus is no longer on solely creating a beautiful interface. Instead, designers are now being tasked with creating user-centric interfaces that prioritize function over form. In other words, mobile-first design is all about putting the user’s needs first and foremost.
The reason for this shift is obvious: we now live in a world where people are constantly on their phones. In fact, recent studies have shown that Americans now spend an average of 5 hours per day on their smartphones. And with more and more people using their phones as their primary internet device, it’s no surprise that companies are starting to take notice.
With mobile-first design, the goal is to simplify the user experience bystripping away superfluous features and functionality. The focus is on creating an interface that is easy to use and navigate, while still providing all of the necessary information and functionality. This can be a challenge, but when done right, mobile-first design can result in a much better overall experience for the user.
Benefits Of A User-Centric Interface On Mobile Applications
There are many benefits to having a user-centric interface on mobile applications. The most important benefit is that it helps create a better user experience. When users have an easy time navigating your app and finding the information they need, they are more likely to use it and recommend it to others.
In addition, a user-centric interface can help increase conversion rates and improve customer satisfaction. If customers can easily find what they are looking for on your app, they are more likely to make a purchase or take the desired action.
Having a user-centric interface can also help you save time and money. By making sure that your app is designed with the user in mind, you can avoid costly redesigns down the line.
Design Principles To Consider When Creating Interfaces
There are many design principles to consider when creating interfaces for mobile applications. Here are a few important ones:
Keep it simple: Mobile users have limited attention spans and patience, so it’s important to keep your interface simple and easy to use. Stick to the essentials and don’t try to pack too much into one screen.
Make it intuitive: Users should be able to figure out how to use your interface without needing extensive instructions or tutorials. This means keeping things self-explanatory and using familiar icons and conventions where possible.
Consider the context: Mobile users often use their devices in different contexts than desktop users, so it’s important to take this into account when designing your interface. For example, people might use your app while walking or commuting, so you need to account for that in your design.
Optimize for touch: Since mobile users will be interacting with your interface through touch, it’s important to optimize for this input method. This means making sure buttons and controls are big enough to be tapped easily, and avoiding features that require precise finger movement (such as complex gestures).
Test on real devices: It’s crucial to test your interface on actual mobile devices before launch, not just in the simulator or emulator. This will help you catch any issues that only occur on real hardware, such as problems with touchscreen sensitivity or screen size differences between devices.
Tools And Platforms To Help Build Interfaces
When it comes to crafting user-centric interfaces for mobile applications, there are a number of tools and platforms that can be extremely helpful. In this section, we’ll take a closer look at some of the most popular options.
One of the best tools for mobile interface design is Adobe Photoshop. With Photoshop, you can easily create high-resolution interface designs that look great on any type of device. Photoshop also offers a wide range of features and plugins that can help you streamline your workflow.
Another popular tool for mobile interface design is Sketch. Unlike Photoshop, Sketch was specifically designed for interface design. As such, it offers a number of features and plugins that make it ideal for mobile interface designers.
In terms of platforms, one of the best options for mobile interface development is React Native. React Native is a cross-platform framework that allows you to develop native iOS and Android apps using JavaScript. Thanks to its powerful features and flexibility, React Native is becoming increasingly popular among mobile developers.
We should mention Flutter. Flutter is an open-source platform developed by Google that allows you to create cross-platform applications with ease. Thanks to its intuitive programming language and easy-to-use widgets, Flutter is perfect for those who want to create beautiful interfaces without having to deal with complex codebases.
Usability Testing For Your Mobile Application
User experience (UX) is critical for the success of any mobile application. To ensure your app is providing the best possible UX, it’s important to regularly conduct usability testing. Usability testing allows you to identify any areas of your app that may be confusing or difficult for users, and then make necessary adjustments to improve the overall user experience.
There are a few different ways to approach usability testing for your mobile application. One option is to use a service like UserTesting.com, which provides on-demand access to real human users who can test your app and provide feedback. Another option is to use a tool like Apptimize, which enables you to A/B test different versions of your app with live users in order to determine which design elements are most effective.
Whichever method you choose, regular usability testing should be a key part of your mobile app development process in order to ensure that your app provides the best possible user experience.
Best Practices For Crafting Interfaces
When it comes to crafting interfaces for mobile applications, there are a few best practices that you should keep in mind. First and foremost, always keep the user in mind. What do they need to accomplish with your app? How can you make their experience as smooth and easy as possible?
Another important best practice is to keep things simple. Mobile users are typically looking for quick, easy answers or solutions. They don’t want to have to wade through tons of text or navigate complex menus. Keep your interface clean and streamlined, with obvious buttons and icons.
Always test your interfaces on real devices before you launch. Make sure that everything looks and works the way it should on different screen sizes and operating systems. There’s nothing worse than launching an app only to find out that the interface doesn’t work properly!
– Common Pitfalls When Designing User Interfaces
When it comes to designing user interfaces for Mobile-First Design, there are a few common pitfalls that can trip up even the most experienced designers. Here are a few of the most common pitfalls to watch out for when crafting user-centric interfaces for mobile applications:
1. Not taking advantage of the unique capabilities of mobile devices. Mobile devices offer a variety of unique capabilities that can be leveraged to create more effective and efficient user interfaces. For example, the use of touch screen input can greatly simplify navigation and provide a more immersive experience for users.
2. Overlooking the importance of context. The context in which users will be using your app is critical in determining what sort of interface will be most effective. Will users be primarily using your app while on the go? In that case, an interface that is optimized for quick and easy access to key features may be best. Or will users be using your app in more sedentary situations? In that case, a richer and more robust interface may be appropriate.
Failing to account for different screen sizes and aspect ratios. With the vast array of different mobile devices on the market today, it’s important to design your user interface in a way that is responsive and adaptable to different screen sizes and aspect ratios.

– Conclusion
Mobile devices are becoming increasingly ubiquitous, which has led to a shift in how users access information and interact with businesses. As a result, businesses must adapt their strategies to account for the mobile-first mentality of their customers.
One way to do this is by crafting user-centric interfaces for mobile applications. This means creating an interface that is optimized for the smaller screen size and touch input of mobile devices. Additionally, it is important to consider the different contexts in which users will be accessing your app, as this will impact how they use it.
By keeping these things in mind, you can create a mobile application that provides a great user experience and meets the needs of your customers.

Over 1,600 votes! This got so many more responses that I thought it would. Some of the results, like the Unternet suit, was about what I was expecting but others really surprised me.
A lot of people left really insightful notes and responses on their choices and favorite suits and I wanted to share some of my thoughts as well.
Suit number one! The OG with only 3%. I’m so surprised this one didn’t get more votes. Honestly, it’s one of my faves and I think it’s a very clever redesign of the Robin suit. It’s an instant classic for me. There’s a reason why so many adaptations use it as a template. But I guess I can see some people seeing it as the default outfit and wanting to pick a different option.
I can’t talk about number two without talking about three first. I had no idea this would be an unpopular opinion but I really don’t like the OYL suit. It only got in fourth with 13% but I was so surprised. I was so sure that other people would feel the same so I tried to find the most flattering picture of it so I could give it a “fair chance”. Looks like that was unnecessary. I get the sentimental value behind it and I do find it cool that they repurpose the original Bob Kane bat suit into a Robin suit. But whenever I look at it, it reminds me of that red, old-timey, long underwear with the butt flaps. And I just don’t like that it’s mostly one solid color without something to break up the design a bit.
Number two, on the other hand, is what I think the OYL suit should look like. Just adding the black sleeves and bringing down the collar fixes the issues I have with it. And who doesn’t love the DCAU style? It’s perfectly simple and pleasing to look at. But it only got 5%. Better than some but what can you do?
Number four, the first Red Robin suit! It’s one of my favorites. It’s simple and iconic but that cowl is really hit or miss for some people. It was one of the lower-rated suits with 6%. I remember really not liking the cowl the first time I saw it but it’s grown on me. I think a part of that comes down to the artist. I didn’t like the way Ramon Bachs drew it in the first few issues of Red Robin. It makes Tim look way older than he actually is. I like how Marcus To draws it way better. Tim still looks like a teenager/young adult in it. But cowl aside, the suit itself is perfect to me! I love the bandoliers, it’s a unique feature you don’t see very often and I like how they essentially function as extra utility belts. The design for the Red Robin outfit was originally from the Elseworlds comic Kingdom come, where Dick Grayson continued to use the robin mantel. I just love the idea of Tim carrying on the Robin legacy into adulthood and visualizing that by using this name and outfit. Tim is truly Dick’s legacy character and I love that connection.
Speaking of Tim being Dick’s legacy character...
Number five, the Unternet suit! I don’t think anyone is surprised this is the winner. It got a solid 30% of the votes! If you wanted more proof that Tim sees himself as the carrier of Dick’s legacy, this is it. When you’re in the Unternet, you appear how you see yourself. So, Tim wearing what is essentially a red version of the Nightwing suit is perfect. Also, it shows that even if Tim wasn’t taking on the name Nightwing, he was definitely taking on the role Nightwing has in the batfam. My favorite part of it is the mask! I think the covered nose is the perfect compromise between a domino mask and the cowl. It feels more mature than Tim’s old domino mask but has the expressiveness that the cowl lacks. I can’t be the only one who thinks Tim keeps taking his cowl off in Red Robin so we can get a better look at his face in emotional scenes. (And we love to see his hair of course) I’d say the only thing I don’t like about this suit is the red boots. I would have preferred if they were solid black or just had red soles.
Number six is also one that I was surprised to see get so many votes. It just barely won second place with 21%. While I don’t hate it the way I do the OYL suit, I just don’t get the appeal. I think my problem with it is just all the patches on it. I think some superhero outfits add on things like color patches, straps, and belts in order to make designs look more interesting. But too much of that just blurs into visual noise to me. In my mind, an iconic design is something you can recall instantly. I think I’d like this one much more if it removed some elements. I’d just keep the red chest and remove the other patches and the logos on his shoulders. And change the colors of the straps and bandoliers back to how they look on the fourth suit, black with gold capsules. I feel like the solid gold-yellow is too distracting. But the wings! I really like the wings! It’s something so unique. I love the silhouette it gives him and it makes him stand out from the rest of the batfam. And it makes sense for a non-powered hero on a team of metas to have something that allows him to keep up.
Oh boy, number seven. A whopping 2%. All the problems I have with number six is way worse on this one. Every inch has weird patches and intersecting lines that don’t make sense. And if you wanted to know why superhero outfits often use bright, primary colors instead of more neutral tones; here’s your answer. Brown is great if you’re a duck hiding from predators, but not when you're a comic book character. Also, not a fan of ditching the cape. If you voted for this one, you have strange and eclectic tastes and I admire your contrarianism.
Number eight... When you voted and you saw this sitting at 0%, you’d be forgiven for thinking that no one voted for it. An absolutely tiny percentage did, there are just so few that they don’t even register as a percentage. And it’s not hard to see why. Since Flashpoint, I feel like Red Robin has felt less like a step forward/evolution of Robin and more like a side step. And this is the culmination of that. It’s essentially the same as Tim’s first Robin suit but worse. It just trades in the green pants for a green codpiece. Maybe it’s just the artist but the suit feels clunky to me. While I’d say number seven is a worse design overall, this one commits the biggest sin by being boring.
And finally, number nine! It just barely got third place and it’s not hard to see why. I feel like this design boils down a lot of the better aspects of the other designs into one neat package. It’s simple and sleek and a great reimagining of the Robin suit for more modern tastes.
It was really cool to get to see everyone else's thoughts on the outfits. One or two other people mentioned that an ideal suit would have the body from 4, the mask from 5, and maybe the wings from 6. I totally agree.
There were a few people mentioning other suits, like Tim’s suit in the YJ cartoon and the Red Robin suit in Batman Unlimited, and such. I’ll be honest, I totally forgot about the YJ cartoon. I only watched the first season back in 2012 and never got around to seeing the rest. The poll only allows for ten options anyway, so I felt the ones I had on here covered the ones people would be familiar with. But who knows. It might be fun to do an auxiliary poll with some suits from the cartoons and video games or other suits I missed in the future.
(Sorry, reposting since the first post wasn't registering votes)
