was looking at my old gemsonas and besides criticizing the colors i chose for some of them, i VIVIDLY remember making one of them morganite. only to open the file and see her labeled as "spinel" (this is before the movie came out btw so spinel wasnt a canon character yet)

and like. im thinking i mustve saw someone else make a morganite gemsona and then went "i cant have the same one as someone else!!" and then just changed it to a different pink gemstone.. bc the colors do not line up with spinel. spinel is more hot pink and morganite is a lighter, dustier pink. and my gemsona was lighter pink.

i dont care if i renamed that character to spinel that sure as hell was intended to be a morganite 😭

#other ones i had were tanzanite kyanite and labradorite #tanzanite shouldve been more purple toned but overall i think they're cute #kyanite is the right color and is overall fine looking #labradorite i made... blue. bc i had never actually seen labradorite irl #i had one reference that showed blue and i assumed it was a blue gemstone. so i ended up with an icy blue character #labradorite is not blue!!!! it is brown/black in color but has an iridescent shine that makes it look blue #or purple or yellow etc etc #so i guess now actually seeing gemstones irl i know how to depict them better #though of course su ocs dont have to be perfectly accurate. they are light projections
