Happy late 95th Birthday to the Mouse who rescued Disney for Walt, Roy and Ub in 1928 after Charles Mintz and Universal tried taking them down with Oswalds Copyright loss,
Mickey Mouse may have not started it,(Oswald did) But he came in and saved the Company and that on its own deserves praise.
It didn't start with the mouse, but the mouse made sure their names would echo and be firmly placed in history, this even eventually helping his brother Oswald to come home. Everyone knows who they are because of Mickey,
He truly always has been brave and this just shows it so Happy Birthday Mickey.

Mickey Mouse 95th birthday
On November 18, 1928, the world is introduced to a cartoon mouse named Mickey Mouse with the release of the cartoon Steamboat Willie. Mickey Mouse is created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks after the cartoonists lost the rights to their past cartoon star Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Thanks to Mickey, the Walt Disney company become the famous animated studio it is today and managed to reach 100 years. Happy 95th birthday, Mickey Mouse.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Ortensia the Cat - Happy 95th birthdays!
Although it has passed, I certainly drew a drawing related to an important anniversary. On September 5, 1927, Ub Iwerks and Walt Disney while working for Universal made a classic short called "Trolley Troubles" and it featured Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and his girlfriend Ortensia the Cat for the first time. Oswald appears several times in the classic shorts, but poor relations between Iwerks and Disney led to Oswald not appearing again. Yes, Oswald was owned by Universal until the early 21st century until Disney bought out the character as well as Ortensia and their cartoons. Oswald reprises his role in the video game Epic Mickey. Even though I know it's not good, I definitely redraw Oswald and Ortensia from the Epic Mickey scene where they finally meet again and fall in love.
Yes, I love Oswald and I think they deserve more justice. It's a shame that Disney canceled the project around his show. I hope you like this drawing and happy 95th birthday dear Oswald plus Ortensia and over 400 children and nieces and nephews.

Here’s a screenshot redraw for Oswald the Lucky rabbit’s 95th birthday! (original picture under the cut)
Sky Scrappers is one of my favorite cartoons as well as the last Disney Oswald cartoon, so it felt fitting!

It’s Mickey Mouse Day once again, so as tradition with me, it’s time to post another tribute to a Mickey Mouse project, this year, it’s Epic Mickey 2.
I did the sketch and linework, while my buddy Will Carroll handled most of the coloring.
Truth be told, I wasn’t planning on doing an Epic Mickey 2 tribute at first, but then I remembered not only does this year mark the 10th Anniversary of said game, but also the 95th anniversary of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The stars just simply aligned for it.
Epic Mickey 2 has a rather infamous legacy. While the first Epic Mickey was a huge hit, it’s sequel bombed so badly that not only did it kill the Epic Mickey franchise but also Junction Point Studios as a whole, and Oswald the Rabbit hasn’t had any major roles in a new production since (the one exception being a short comic story in Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories #276).
Even I was disappointed by it, most of the game was just resisting the same places you explored in the first time, the camera was more glitchy than before, the story was extremely predictable, and Oswald had the worst AI I ever seen in a video game! Still, it does have it’s nice points, the Mary Blair inspired cutscenes are still extremely well-animated and the addition of voice acting (as opposed to the first game’s Banjo-Kazooie-speak) really helped make the game feel more like a playable cartoon (when Gus wasn’t nagging you around anyway).
It may not be the highest point in the Mouse’s career (heck, it’s not even close video game wise), but perhaps it’s alright to acknowledge the failures as well as the successes. As another Disney production taught us “From failure you learn. From success, not so much.”
Plus I don’t think Epic Mickey is completely dead, the short-lived franchise has gained a cult following over the years, new merch for it appeared surprisingly recently, and of course there have been rumors of Disney doing a full remake of the first game. It might be a long shot, but I don’t think we’ve seen the end of the wasteland just yet.

While her husband's 95th birthday is coming up, Ortensia has a little bit to wait until her own 95th. No reason I can't draw her before that. Here, the kitty is donning her 30s/40s best.
For the uninitiated, Ortensia the Cat is the partner of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. While Oswald did have a different love interest at first and several flirtatious rendezvous over the decades, she is the character Disney decided to bring back when they obtained the rights to use Oswald again. I'm glad too, since you don't see inter-species relationships as much in Disney. In "Epic Mickey," the couple are even married!
Nowadays, you can find the cat and rabbit running a service station in the California Adventure park (I assume it's an ink station for older toons).

Honestly I really used to love this guy back in high school to the point where it became an obsession (and it's an obsession i sorta regret) i'd literally post Oswald fanart to my friends and they were ok with it AT FIRST. Then I'd sent tons of Oswald related stuff fanfictions where my friends began to get "concerned" (one of them even asked if i were having a stroke).
I've eventually dicided to come back to him for his 95th birthday.
and with that I say Happy 95th Birthday Oswald (wish you were actually living in da reel woahld)
also thx to @MiwwieUwUArt on twitter for this fanart

I would like to pour one out for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, as today is his 95th and Disney still won't do anything significant for him post-Epic Mickey
