Nintendo Sketchpage - May 14th, 2024
This is the second one of these random Nintendo sketchpages I've done, it is lots and lots of fun!! I love it!!! I definitely plan to make these a habit and put all my leftover sketches into these-
Anyways, here is another random buncha characters! I've had ARMS on the mind lately and I'm always thinking of Unova. The odd one out here though may be Rin Shirosaki, a character from the very obscure and VERY AMAZING Japan only DS game, Osu Tatakae Ouendan 2! I actually own a copy of the game and I love it lots!!

Hey, if your still around, could I suggest taking a screenshot of Kai in the hot springs in the intro of "Go My Way"? I've seen Ryuta in that scene, but never the others.
So so sorry this has taken me like 2 years to post this. but yes.. here you are..

it’s been so long since I played my last rhythm game, I’d forgotten all about the phenomenon of fucking up a specific part of a song so consistently that now my brain is just trained to zero in on that part of said song every time I listen to it.

Okay, so I said yesterday I'd be adding to what I called the "Nintendo Deep Cuts" category. I watched a playthrough of an obscenely silly game and I'm committing to the bit. BUT FIRST. Let's discuss what this category is and why it exists for this list.
The Nintendo Deep Cuts category is the series of characters that Nintendo adds that generally makes you ask one of two questions, "WHO?" and "but, why?" This list kinda sorta expands every game, I think Ultimate might be the exception lol. This category consists of Duck Hunt (duo), Ice Climbers, Wii Fit Trainer, Mr. Game & Watch, and R.O.B (Robot). These characters have nothing more to add from their franchises and overly represents what they are. I thought I'd add a funny character from a funny game. I've chosen...

The Elite Beat Agents from the game by the same name. Apparently they're named J, Spin and Derek. How they'll work is that you'll play as a lead agent while the other two cheer you on in the background. Changing your color palette will also change your lead agent, Default palette you play as J (the middle agent). Elite Beat Agents is a rhythm game where these guys sing and dance to popular songs and this somehow helps people do both very normal and extra extreme things. SO let's give these guys a move set shall we?
For Neutral B the agent will drop a boom box and the ground and it will function as a trap for the next person to run past it but speed up the agent while they're near it.
For Up B they will equip their jet pack and fly in the direction pressed on the controller.
For Side B the agent will jump into a randomly chosen land based vehicle and drive forward. Think Wario's bike but not always a bike.
For Down B the agent will perform a shout that creates a speech bubble around him that somehow does damage.
When the agents performs regular attacks it takes the form of dance moves. The agents will literally dance battle you, to death.
I just wanted my Nintendo Deep Cuts characters to be a really goofy silly that embodies the feelings created when a character of this type get's announced. The feeling of "who? but why?" and the main answer is, there isn't a rhythm game rep yet, so may as well be these goofy ass guys.

Hello! Haven't played Osu, Tatakae! Ouendan, but I have played Elite Beat Agents! Do you want to go off on Osu Tatakae Ouendan a bit, I would love to hear some things about it!
oh god .
hi ?? hello ?? this oddly feels like such an honor for you to be in my ask box - but putting that aside , sure ! playing both it and its sequel off and on for like the past two years really helps me here tbh LMAO
so . Osu ! Tatakae ! Ouendan was the first game of the series , releasing on the DS in '05 . it's what i'd call a little more ' primitive ' than EBA or the 2nd ouendan , examples being there's no unlockable songs , that you're not able to save replays of stages you've played , that you can't skip through the cutscenes that play while your stamina meter is filling up on the bottom screen ( which is persistently annoying for if you keep dying in one stage ) / outro cutscenes , that said stamina bar drains faster than in the other games , especially on higher difficulties , there's also only one ending song , unlike the other two games ( and also ! it's Ready Steady Go , which is the exact same song used in the Fullmetal Alchemist opening ) - but for this being the first game of the series that iNIS made , it's excusable .
Elite Beat Agents came out in '06 as somewhat of a localization of OTO , after seeing how many people were importing OTO to play it even without an english language option . an upgrade to the original OTO formula . you probably know the rest .
Osu ! Tatakae ! Ouendan ! 2 ( otherwise known as Moero ! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu ! Tatakae ! Ouendan 2 ) came out in '07 , which added a bit of a twist compared to the original - that being the fact there was now two teams , the Yuuhi Ouendan and the Asahi Ouendan ( also known as the Encouraging Nobility ) which rival against each other to be the top ouendan team . this game has similar features to what elite beat agents added , and even had a special distribution event / an early form of DLC where you could get a special mode where you could play as the EBA ( which put an EBA badge button on the difficulty selection screen , and was just a model swap . it can actually still be put into the game through cheats if you have it on something like an r4 card )
and sadly , that's where the curtain quietly closed on the series . they tried pitching one on the 3ds to nintendo , but they never greenlit it , and that's where it ends - i'd say , if it weren't for the pc game Osu ! existing . it at least , lives on through that .
