As it breathed, so did the rest of its children.

One day, a child many generations down came to the great ancestor.

"Please," it asked. "my parents have died. I cannot find them."

"Fear not," the great ancestor replied, and happily took the orphan child as its own child. "The great ancestor accepts all."

And as time passed, the child went on to do amazing things. It grew and worked and had its moments - some good, some bad.

But eventually, its time had come. The great ancestor knew.

And the child knew. The great ancestor required order, after all. The world of the great ancestor, and all of its children, only had so much to go around. The great ancestor required order, to ensure the world would continue to breathe as long as it did.

And so the child fell into a deep slumber, before it stopped breathing itself, and, in the blink of an eye, dissolved into nothingness.

The great ancestor continued to live. And it breathed. And so did the rest of its children.
