I saw someone reblog a post with the tag "keeping up with the Osmium Dynasty", and it makes me really want to put together a cheap, shitty, early 2000s reality tv title card for it

On that note, how're you processing that revelation from our last fight?
Y'know, the one where you tried to kidnap the Traveler?
“It has taken me… some time to accept it. I almost tore my throne world apart, now that I’ve had the time to ponder it. Yet, now that I am here I simply feel”
She glanced out at her throne world. At the shrine she’d built for her late brother. At the sky which, somewhere, harbored a sister that she had left behind. At this home she had made, which feels so empty without the rambunctious prattle of Xi’Ro. Without Aurash’s quick, determined steps and scratching of ink against parchment in hopes of etching out a map. Without the endless clutter and clatter of runes and books against stone tables in Sathona’s eager thirst to know more. Without a father, lost to war. Without the whispers of a dead creature stuck within a glass.
“Numb. Though I am sure I’ll recover soon enough. What is done cannot be undone.”

I really love how much Oryx, and more importantly the ripples his death has caused, is being discussed over these past two seasons. The way he’s not a person, but rather a concept: a catalyst for Xivu’s existential crisis, an embodiment of the Sword Logic, Eris Morn’s greatest triumph, the Hive’s greatest grief. He lives on in his philosophy, just as he wanted! But at the same time he’s not here, it’s just the concepts he represented being present, not his personhood or traits or relationships with anyone besides maybe Xivu—but even she only sees him through the lens of her mourning. It’s just the disembodied shade of him present, the imprint he’s left on the world. But he’s not here. “He rots beneath the waves.”

He was the eldest sister of the three.
He was the first born son of the Osmium dynasty.
He was the father of Crota, Ir Halak, Ir Anuk, and Nokris.
He was the slayer of Akka.
He was the God King.
He was Aurash.
He was Auryx.
He was Oryx, the Taken King.
And you killed him, Guardian.

Reading all these things about the Osmium Dynasty from my trip to the World’s Grave has been making me feel kinda strong. Reading about Oryx shouldn’t change my body, right?

It’s been two years and I’m more or less comfortable in saying I’ve figured out their dynamic as sisters, thanks in no small part to Season of the Lost, but it’s still fun to look back at posts like these and go, ah
It leads into a recounting of Savathûn: banished, branded as heretic and set to burn. Many Hive turned to her when Oryx fell. Many of those same broodlines defected as the Darkness invaded Sol, sending Savathûn into hiding. She is still hunted by the hounds of war. i am very interested in xivu arath’s and savathun’s dynamic as sisters

Protip: if your best friend/roommate/Izzy/underline not applying doesn't partake in your interests (ie. shipping yaoi), consider adding chitin and insectoid features (to aftermentioned yaoi). Beware of unexpected side effects (old man yaoi specialisation).

Though hidden, far-flung and deeply hostile, the Leprosarium is generally quite "open" to other Hive...
The Asyla are oft silent temples, but if you are lucky you might notice a roaming band of Acolytes making pilgrimage between them. For some, it is the closest they have ever gotten to the Osmium dynasty. It's a kind of honour to be in the presence of an Ascendant old enough to have fought the Ammonite, isn't it?
La'zaar, for all his abject cruelty, is quite courteous to these visiting Hive, these students and pilgrims and aspirants... He possesses the kind of patience for small things that his uncle had.

Six of them went down into the pit...
Lost deep in the lunar tunnels.
--There is no light here--
The ravenous gnashing teeth, the screaming starving maws. Swarms of many mouthed hungers ate of Vell.
--Out of ammo--
The dreadful wailing witch felled Sai Mota. In their fall Erian's rage burned so bright it consumed them.
--Out of light--
Lost in the dark dear Omar, oh dear friend Omar was found by something sinister. It twisted and contorted them and imprisoned them.
--Out of moves--
The scholars shared their teachings of swords and orchestras. In these songs of death Toland, transcended. Shattered
--You are alone--
They took her peers.
They took her sight.
They took her light.
They took her fate.
She heard --IT'S-- whispers.
--You shall drown...--
She made her wish.
She made her fate.
She took their sight.
Itching from the viscous flow from her eyes, flowing with hate.
--...in the deep--
Six of them went down into the pit, one crawled out.
Hivesbane. Scourge of the Osmium Dynasty.
She is vengeance.
She is the many mouthed hungers.
She is the all knife edged truth.
She.
She is Eris Morn.

Easy, Eris Morn is a woman who has survived the worse of Destiny’s universe. She survived the great disaster, literally crawled out of the Hellmouth and swore to destroy the Osmium Dynasty in her knife edged truth.
And she’s done that. She’s done that so thoroughly that all three of the hive gods lie sundered at her feet. Oryx and his line have been basically obliterated from the system. Savathun’s line now embrace the light and even Savathun praises Eris (you know, before she was literally killed by Eris). And Eris has forced Xivu Arath out of her own throne world-forced the hive god of WAR out of her own throne world and Xivu sees her as Oryx’s successor.
And yet she hasn’t let it totally define her. She has proven to defy fate, from what Elsie has seen happen to her. Eris Morn is more then her monsters, more then her pain and certainly more then the dark.
She succeeded where Eriana-3 failed. Where the brilliant warlock of the Praxis Fire failed, she succeeded. Eris has become not only the bane of the Hive, akin to the likes of Saint-14 when it comes to the Eliksni and the vex, and yet she keeps her humanity. It be so easy to wallow and burn up like Eriana did. And yet, she hasn’t.
Aiat indeed. All hail the knife edged truth, aiat!
You there. Eris Morn fan. You have 30 seconds to formulate a post about Eris that does not involve Drifter ... if you fail this simple challenge I will teleport into your home and confiscate every device on which you may connect to tumblr dot com, instantly improving the condition of the tags. Good luck.

today i feel some way about xivu raging and wailing in grief about oryx and how sav had spit on his legacy, vs. sav just quietly holding a ritual to bring him back without informing anyone
