Nach all den Jahren endlich mal ein Film mit Ronald Reagan! Die Flügel des Todesengels lauern bereits über der reizenden Gesellschaftsdame Bette Davis, sowie eine Oscarstatue. Sie erringt dann einen dunklen Sieg über ihren Gehirntumor, indem sie ihren Arzt heiratet und ein kurzes, aber glückliches Leben auf dem Lande führt, und schließlich zufrieden sterben kann. Nur mit dem Oscar hat es dann doch nicht geklappt, wegen der übergroßen Konkurrenz durch Gone with the Wind.

According to a recent documentary, it is said that a producer was walking to a downtown New York restaurant named @oscarsdelmonico / Delmonico's. The restaurant was known for serving Hollywood elite, such as #MarilynMonroe, The Gabor Sisters, #LanaTurner, #JoanCrawford, and #RockHudson, to name a few. At the time it was owned by Oscar Tucci, and above the Delmonico name was 'Oscar' in neon lights. Some Oscar trivia- The Oscar was modeled after Emilio Fernandez a famous Mexican Director who at the time was working as a Hollywood extra. Cedric Gibbons the art director from Fox was recruited by glamorous Mexican actress, Hollywood star, and future wife Dolores del Rio when then MGM chief art director Cedric Gibbons said he was looking for a model to help design the trophy. Dolores thought he had the perfect physique for Gibbons' vision of a Crusader Knight. Though initially reluctant, Emilio was eventually persuaded to strip down and pose with a large sword, giving us the famous golden statue coveted by actors ever since.
