Give us 22 with our boy osamu 😭🌷
22 with osamu… comfort 🥺
Your nails dig into your palms as you stare, blankly, at the book in front of you. You haven’t absorbed a word in the past twelve minutes, and it’s a book you haven’t touched in months. You should feel invested.
But you don’t. And it’s killing you.
You’re not quite sure why, but the happy whistling coming from Osamu has a well of tears flooding to your waterline, the books words start melting together and your breathing picks up at his happy, “hey baby.”
When you ignore him, you feel his gaze bore into you. “Uhh… babe? You okay?”
“Mhm.”
“You… positive?” He says, and you screw your eyes shut. “I don’t want to prod you, but you seem tense, and I don’t like it for you.”
“Im fine, Osamu,” you grit your teeth. The next thing you know, a cup of juice gets placed next to your book, and he’s next to you, a warm hand on your back as he rubs soothing circles and god, you don’t want to take this out on him. Not when he treats you so good, not when he cares so much about you.
Not when you can’t do anything right, and yet he’s right there to love you.
“Talk to me,” he whispers, and you screw your eyes shut and shake your head. “Please? Let me in.”
You take a deep breath in and can’t help the wobbling in your voice, “I can’t… even… read correctly.”
“Huh?”
“I can’t read correctly!” You repeat, this time in a sob as you throw yourself into osamu’s stomach, his head immediately cradling the back of your head. “I’ve been trying and trying for the past twelve minutes, and I’ve retained none of it! My back hurts and my eyes keep vibrating, and I can’t even read correctly, for the love of god!”
He shushed you softly as his thumb gingerly rubs over your head, letting you cry it out for a bit in his shirt. You feel his breath pattern even out as an attempt to encourage you to do the same. You finally are able to stop crying long enough to breath, and he clears his throat.
“Are you doing your best?” He asks.
“What?” You ask.
“Are you doing your best right now?”
He’s not talking about reading. His words are carefully crafted to not just be about reading, and you wail into his stomach again. You nod, and he clicks his tongue, “then that’s okay. It’s okay to feel frustrated right now. But you know how to read, baby. You know how to open a book and retain every word that’s printed- you know that.”
You nod against him, and he continues, “you’re doing your best right now, and that’s plenty. I’m proud of you for all you’re doing. It’s enough- I promise you.”
“I don’t feel like it is,” you sniffle. “I don’t feel like it is enough.”
“It’s plenty,” he repeats. “Dont sabotage yourself into thinking otherwise.”
“Okay,” you whimper. You pull back to flick your eyes up at him, “I want to stop reading, please.”
He chuckles and grabs your bookmark to slip into the page, “what do you want to do?”
“I want to stay here, and cry more.”
“I can do that,” he promises, fixing his stance to be firmer and he guides you to rest your head back on his stomach. “Anything, for you.”
“Thank you.”
“Any time, babe. You know that.”

“Let your pain out. Just let it all out, okay? You’re allowed to cry. Even if it means taking your time. I'm not in any rush, sweetheart, and you shouldn’t rush yourself either. It’s okay to not be strong for now. Don’t force yourself to be strong. I’ve got you. I know you're struggling. I know you're tired... I know you're exhausted. Just rest, sweetheart. In my arms, I'll catch you when you fall. I won't let you hit the ground”

Part 1 ◇ Part 2

You're not used to being loved.
Your parents were always strict, hardly ever showing their affection, you didn't even have any close friends until you started working, where you found your best friend who showed you the blessings of a platonic love; but time passes and things happen, you had to move out of the town, leave your one true friend behind.
You are not used to love but especially romantic love, because all men did was see you as the object of their sexual desires, or maybe a good time-pass until a better one came along. Never as a person with feelings, never as a woman who loved them more than they loved her.
Sometimes you were too much, sometimes you weren't enough.
Too affectionate, too clingy, too dramatic, too loud. Not pretty enough, not smart enough, not horny enough. You tried and tried to be more, to be less, to be loved, but despite your efforts, love remained elusive, even with women.
So, after years of hoping and yearning, you resigned yourself to a loveless existence.
It is not to say that you never felt happy; even if you didn’t have love, you had fun and drama, you had friends to drink with (accompanied by the ting of pain the day after), you had a lot of books to read (leaving a bitter taste in your mouth whenever you finished one), you had dates and clothes and all the good and beautiful things in life and you've learned to appreciate these fragments of happiness.
But sometimes you get lonely.
You are used to it at this point, the crushing weight in your chest at 11 PM is your daily ritual before you finally give in to sleep.
So when you see Osamu Miya’s warm smile as he greets you in his restaurant, you battle to stop your stupid crazed heart, which is currently trying to jump out of your mouth.
You are just a client, his smile doesn’t mean anything, he is only doing his job, and you have seen him give the same smile to the old ladies who only order a coffee and linger to chatter for more than two hours, too. He’s a professional, after all. You are a regular and all he wants is your money, the bastard.
(you completely ignore the fact that he remembers details about you that no one bothers to remember; like the colour of your jewellery, the names of the dogs in your shelter or how your eyeliner is a little glittered today.)
Still, you are glad you got to know him. If anything, at least he is a good friend to you, always listening to what you have to say and filling your stomach with delicious food.
“ ‘Evening, Y/N. The usual?” He asks. You nod as you sit on the corner of the counter, the same seat you sat on the first day you came in.
(Osamu puts a “Reserved” sign on it every day until your arrival, not letting anyone else sit on it because it’s yours. But you don’t need to know that.)
You chatter with Tsumoto, the part-timer student who works in his shop, about his new crush, giving him advice you wouldn’t listen to nor follow from somebody else, and just as you are about to tell him that he should just write love letters to his crush, the doorbell rings; a pretty girl with dark long hair and the body of a goddess walks in, looking around for something, or better, for someone.
“‘Samuuu!” she calls him just as he comes out of the kitchen, and his face lights up, his arms envelop her figure and her lips meet his cheeks in an affectionate gesture.
… what?
“Emi! How are you, doll?” his voice holds tenderness as he guides the girl to one of the seats available, “Have a seat, I'll fix something up for you.”
She is a beautiful girl indeed, her hair flutters in the air like sea waves and her deep green eyes would make any man weak in his knees. She graces him with a smile, her flawless teeth gleaming.“A coffee is enough ‘Samu, I’m going to meet a friend soon.”
“Roger that!” he nods, signaling to Tsumoto for the order, before returning his attention to her.
He looks happy, you don’t think he has ever looked at you with this much fondness, and you’ve never witnessed any girl embrace him, let alone kiss his cheek. Hell, you didn’t even know if he had any female friends who were not his friends’s girlfriends.
(You feel your vision blur and something clenches in your chest. You swallow it down.)
You have no idea what they are talking about, you are not listening, all you can think about is how much you feel so so stupid. You didn’t hope for anything, you tried not to hope for anything at all, but feelings are hard to get rid of, especially if you see the one causing these feelings every week.
You look at them talking like best friends who haven’t seen each other for a long time and the feeling of inadequacy gnaws at you. You wonder if you ever even stood a chance to begin with. You yearned to be someone close to Osamu, someone who could give him hugs and kisses easily, someone who knew everything about him; you yearned to be part of his inner circle, but now you feel utterly stupid and delusional. Of course, he would never see you in that light, his affection is reserved only for a pretty girl like her. Of course he wouldn’t even think about getting physical with you. What were you even thinking?
Of course, you can’t be part of his world.

εïз┊b. koutarou
his excited grin turned into a concerned frown as you walked through the door with teary eyes. he mumbled your name, his furrowed brows and small voice crack showed how much it hurt him to see you this way. with daunting steps, he hugged you tight, pulling you into his chest while whispering little words of comfort into your ear. his callous hands rubbing circles into your back made you sink into him, huggin him back even tighter as he spoke. "hug me as tight as you need baby." he calmed you down, little by little until you told him what happened for you to be so, so upset.
εïз┊s. rintatou
he heard the front door shut forcefully as he laid on the couch, his phone in his hands. he paused, hearing your quiet footsteps coming towards him as he glanced up from his phone to see you with watery eyes and a scowl on your lips. he set his phone on his chest, slowly raising himself up so he leaned his back on the arm of the couch. he stretched out his arms, motioning for you to come over and without a second thought, you nuzzled into his chest and hugged him close. he smoothed back your hair as you sobbed into him, placing a delicate kiss on your head as his other hand snaked around your lower back. "just let it all out, don't hold anything back, okay baby?"
εïз┊o. tooru
it wasn't soon after you'd gotten home that he realized you weren't yourself. it didn't take him long at all to figure those kinds of things out. so, he approached you in the kitchen where you'd set down your things, opening his arms with those kind, understanding eyes, his lips curling into a sad smile. you let yourself fall into him, the tears finally streaming down your cheeks from the day of holding them in. you held his jacket for support as he swayed, humming a little tune as to calm your racing thoughts. "you're doing so amazing, angel, i'm so proud of you for getting through the day."
εïз┊m. osamu
he never thought of leaving your side as you sat on the couch, you head in your hands. he rubbed circles into your back, hoping to calm you down without knowing what caused your breakdown. you sobbed into your hands, fear of speaking and making yourself cry more. you felt him get up from the couch, his hand smoothing back your hair as he placed a kiss on your forehead. "ya don't have ta say anythin' darlin', but let me try ta cheer ya up, yeah?" he took your hands from your face, pulling you up from the couch slowly as his worried frown soon turned into a kind smile. he took your hand in his, leading you to the kitchen where he turned on some soft and relaxing music, showing you how he always made your favorite meal.
εïз┊k. tetsurou
he stared at your quivering lips, your teeth biting your bottom lip as you walked into your shared bedroom. he sat in bed, reading a book on chemistry as he'd done every night before bed for months. he sighed, giving you a sad smile before getting up from where he sat, holding your cheeks in his hands. his hands slid down to your own, slowly leading you to the bed where he pulled up the covers, letting you plop onto the bed as you stared up at him with doey eyes. before you knew it, he had helped you into your pajamas and gotten you ready for bed and getting back to his spot. he pulled the blankets over the two of you, wrapping his arms around you and lightly resting his cheek on your head, every so often placing a simple kiss upon your head. he hugged you tighter the more you cried, and he was willing to wait as long as you needed to be able to talk to him. "i'm here for you every step of the way, my love."

onigiri cravings | prelude
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"i'm really craving onigiri." was your most common saying during the calmer years of nursing school. your soft-spoken boyfriend was always the first to offer up the idea of going to onigiri miya for dinner, well, whenever he was home or free to offer up any ideas.
life for you had been fairly simple, you lived in tokyo for majority of your life and graduated high school with amazing marks. once you left high school, you had immediate plans to get your bachelor's in science and nursing. something about interacting with patient's every day and maybe even brightening their days or just making them feel better, sounded like a perfect career for you. during uni, you met a young man, who happened to be a mutual friend of a mutual friend. things kicked off and you had been with him for pushing 3 years now.
the relationship has been and is great? your boyfriend, akaashi keiji, was a sweetheart and the most sensitive soul known to man. he was kind and gentle, everything you needed in a boyfriend. akaashi was textbook perfect but, lately he's been a bit flooded with his studies. as he aspires to be a doctor, he has a significantly larger workload than you and is rarely home and when he is, the two of you barely interacted.
fleeting touches and short murmurs of adoration. you began to feel neglected but you didn't want to desert him, in possibly the most difficult stage of his life. as much as akaashi cares for you, his lack off attention and focus was really displeasing for you.
however, as you closed in on the last couple months of nursing school, you decided to get a job at onigiri miya. your favorite restaurant in possibly all of japan. as you came to a close on your final years of schooling, you thought it might be great to use this job as an opportunity to steal recipes from the fated brand and to save some money for student loans and other unforgiving adult debts while you looked for your quote en quote 'big girl job' .
"hey keiji, i'm off to work." you mumbled, peeking your head into the "office" space, the two of you designated when you moved into your small apartment.
"mm." was the short, quiet response you recieved as akaashi rubbed his temple, eyes burned through his study book.
eyes rolled slightly, you grabbed your bag and rushed out of the door. you were very prideful in your time management skills, so although you weren't late, you hoped to arrive to onigiri miya with ample time to settle in and prepare for your very first shift, albeit training.
onigiri miya was nothing but a mere 15 minute walk from your quaint downtown apartment. the walk was refreshing, the cool january air brushing against your face, tickling your nose a bit. the buzzing and bustling of downtown tokyo, quietly muting as you stood in front of the bright red lights of onigiri miya. in all it's silent glory.
you prepped a shallow breath before pushing the doors into the warm atmosphere, filled with savory scents that made you feel cozy, in a way that you typically only get from a quiet winter night, snuggled into your bed.
as you walked deeper into the store, you were greeted by the hiring manager. a short girl with cute blonde hair, a bright smile adorned on her face. she showed you the break room and the locker where you could place your belongings before bringing you to the back of the store, where a tall man with silver hair, that could almost be mistaken for an elderly gray.
"this is suga, he'll be training you and giving you a tour of the store. if you have any questions, you can ask him or me. good luck, y/n!!" the hiring manager, yachi, shot you a thumbs up before waltzing away to her office.
"i'm sugawara kōshi, most people call me suga." he smiles, his hand extending warmly.
"nice to meet you suga, i'm y/n. soo, how long have you been working here?" you asked, rocking back and forth on your heels.
"almost 2 and a half years? i'm working on my doctorate in elementary education and childhood development. so, as i contemplate my life trying to write my thesis, i've ended up working here." he began, leaning against the counter before continuing. you chuckled slightly at the dry humor and also because you were thoroughly impressed with his educational background. "enough about me, i'll be giving you the grand tour and teach you a bit about the place. let me know if i'm going too fast or if you need help." his smile gentle and warm.
"sounds great. also, props to you for going back for your doctorate. i'm about to graduate nursing school and i don't think i could ever imagine going back." you chuckled dryly, head shaking slightly because school truly felt endless. especially as a nursing major.
"a NURSEE?? and you decided to work here?" suga raised his eyebrow, waving you into the kitchen.
"well, i love the resturant. a little too much andd i needed a side job while i look for my first big nursing job." you answered, unashamedly as you glance around the large, almost empty kitchen.
"well, props to you. this is the kitchen, we really don't do much back here. but here." he motions toward the window that separated the kitchen from the lobby of the resturant. "is more important, ya know, we receive the food and double check orders." he explains before moving forward through the doors to the lobby.
"the lobby, i'm sure you're familiar with it. all i really have to teach you is to make teas and drinks and take orders but thank everything that samu' got us an easy pos system." he briefs as he taps the ipad and enters it into training mode.
"samu? is he one of our coworkers? actually...do we have any other coworkers?" you ask, glancing at the empty store.
"we do. samu' however is the owner, he pops up sporadically. usually just to pick something up or explain a new promotion. he's really cool, we're good friends. we also have some coworkers that aren't here today because it's a calm day, not super busy. i'm sure you'll meet hajime and semi, super soon." he rambles, leaning against the counter with his head thrown back. you nod, silently taking in all the information.
suga takes it upon himself to begin explaining and training you on the pos system, which was impossibly easy for someone who had to learn to insert iv's for months at a time. then he explained how to make the signature drinks and just small details about the store that he felt were important.
"you're a natural." suga giggles as you make a perfect 'hyogo nights', a signature drink of onigiri miya.
"i worked at a cafe back in high school. i've got experience under my belt." you giggle softly before passing the drink off to a customer.
"so, tell me about yourself y/n!! if you're comfortable of course, it just gets really boring in here and usually, we all kinda just chat it out until our shifts are up." he chuckles softly before sitting on the crates placed in the hidden corner behind the register.
"well, i'm pretty boring. i'm a tokyo native, lived here my entire life. been dreaming of being a nurse since my second year in high school. i have a boyfriend, we've been together for about 3 years now. i want to work as a pediatric er nurse, to be specific and yeah. that's the basic y/n breakdown." y/n smiles softly, sat on the crate opposite of suga.
"wow, i grew up in miyagi, so definitely not a city boy. i've been here for 5 years now?? i graduated and immediately enrolled in utokyo and have been there since. 3 years of a relationship is insanee, i need tips because i cannot keep a man if i tried." suga laughs hard.
"pleasee, it's not easy but he makes it easy. he's been told he's a 'perfect boyfriend' time and time again." you laughed softly, your eyes crinkling slightly as you thought about keiji's recent behavior.
"i can imagine! a pretty and smart woman like you could definitely bag one of the romantics. i'm sure he's a catch as well." suga speaks casually, sipping on a tea he's made for himself.
"well, he's in med school so, pretty smart and equally as handsome." you spoke, smile genuine and soft as you think of the first year of your relationship.
the conversation continues and flows naturally, topics jumping from education to living in the city, all the way to your coworkers that you have yet to meet. hajime iwaizumi, who is typically called iwa by suga, is a burly man who is studying to be a physical therapist, which you admired. pt is such an underrated health care field ! semi eita, is your other coworker, lanky and humorous, according to suga. semi is working here while he decides what he wants to do with his composition major. yachi, the hiring manager that you met, has been working here since the opening of the dt tokyo location 6 years ago. she also designed the uniforms, a side hobby of hers. and osamu miya, the owner of the restaurant. suga claims that he is less of a boss and more of an annoying friend who comes to nag at him and that you get really used to him, even though he looks a bit intimidating from a "boss" perspective.
before the two of you could realize, all of the closing tasks were completed and the store was ready to be closed. suga paused as the two of you stood outside, ready to lock the store, it's bright red lights dimmed.
"is your boyfriend going to come get you? should i wait?" suga assumes, hiking his bag further up his shoulder.
"no, he's...busy. i'm just going to walk, i don't live far." you speak, eyes shut to think about the text you recieved from keiji.
"hope you had a great work day, i know you wanted me to pick you up but the study group decided to do a last minute session for our exam in the morning. i'm sorry, love. i'll make it up to you?"
with a sigh, you realize that suga has been saying something to you but you were far gone into your thoughts to realize.
"i'll walk you, if you don't mind. i can't, in good conscience, allow you to walk alone at this time of night. it's wrong." he smiled genuinely and softly.
"trust me, suga. i appreciate it but i'll be okay. i'll let you know that i get in safe though!" you smiled appreciatively, before waving goodbyes with promises to let him know you arrived safely.
as you walked, the cold january air feeling bitter against your skin, unlike the refreshing feeling you had earlier. but, you brushed it off to appreciate the new friend you gained from your new job. also, how could you forget to grab an onigiri before heading home...dammnit. now you'll be craving onigiri forever.

POV: you gave your neighbor your spare key
a/n: gn!reader, post-timeskip, breakups, hurt/comfort, pining
Tumblr media
You regret giving your spare key to your neighbor, Osamu.
It started with a business trip. You needed someone to water your plants, and he didn’t mind stopping at your place on his way to work. Then, you became friends, and it became an easy way to see each other. After all, it saves you the effort of getting up and opening the door when he comes over.
This time is different.
This time, your response to seeing Osamu walk through your door isn’t a smile with crinkled eyes. It’s a dejected “You should go.”
The door closes. You hear, “Like Hell I should.”
You're laying on your side, wrapped in your favorite blanket on your sofa. Your eyes sting, so you close them and will away another wave of tears. It’s been a long day: what should have been an easy day off for you started with getting dumped by the guy you’ve been seeing.
Over text.
At 5 A.M.
“Sit up,” Osamu pauses, and you hear the rustling of a plastic bag, “or you’ll choke on your own snot.”
“Aren’t you nice?” You mutter and wrinkle your nose but sit up anyway. It’s the first time you’ve moved in over an hour, so your shoulders ache in protest, and your head spins as it reacclimates to being right side up.
After just a few minutes, Osamu brings a cup of tea into your living room. It’s in your favorite mug, and from where you’re sitting, you can already smell that it’s your favorite variety. You watch him warily, unsure what he’s going to do or why he even bothered to come. You were perfectly ready to spend today crying alone, but now there’s someone else in your space.
And if the scowl he wears is anything to go by, he won't let you be alone.
He sets the teacup down on the coffee table. You watch steam slowly billow off the liquid’s surface, wafting through the air at a pace so gentle that you feel your lungs begin to relax for the first time all day.
In the corner of your eye, you see Osamu moving again, and then he fills your vision: broad shoulders, strong jaw, worried scowl. He’s kneeling right in front of you, hands on his thighs, brow deeply creased. He’s silent. Watching you.
Suddenly nervous, you open your mouth and say, “I’m sorry—”
He puts a hand on the sofa cushion, next to your thigh. “You’ve got nothing to be sorry for.”
“But—”
He scoffs as if the very notion of you apologizing to him is offensive. “Would you let me apologize to you for accepting your help when I need it?”
You grumble because he’s right, and also because it’s hard to accept the fact that being dumped is a lot easier to deal with when you’re not all alone.
And yet, you can’t help but wonder, “How’d you find out?”
“Group chat,” he says, and that makes you roll your eyes. You told one of your other friends, so of course she metaphorically ran off to the group chat to tell everyone else—probably in the name of ripping off the Band-Aid so you don’t have to.
You close your eyes for a second that feels like an hour. Maybe if you open them again, this will all be a nightmare, you’ll be in your bed, it’ll still be the middle of the night, and you’ll still be seeing the guy who dumped you.
But that would also mean Osamu wouldn’t be kneeling in front of you. Why does the lack of Osamu bother you more than the lack of your ex?
You look down at your hands as if their lines and creases hold all the answers in the universe. They don’t. “I just wanted to mean something to him.”
“You mean everything to people that matter a lot more than him.”
His voice is so uncharacteristically low that your eyes snap up to his. His eyes are a little wide as if he can’t believe he just said that, his lips are parted as if he wants to say something more, and he swallows hard as if gulping down a mountain of emotions.
“Sorry,” he mumbles.
“Why?” you venture.
Osamu thinks that’s an unfair question to ask, and he wants to tell you just as much. But when you look at him with wide eyes that haven’t been free from tears for hours, he realizes that you—strong, vibrant, wonderful you—need a gentle touch whether you like it or not.
He reaches for the steaming cup of tea, now cool enough not to burn you, and places it in your hands. Your fingers touch; his breath catches. Your hands are colder than he expected, so he says, “Drink.”
When you take a long sip of tea, he tries to find a few seconds of peace to sort through his own mess of thoughts. He didn’t account for the fact that you were going to close your eyes, which makes your lashes dust over the tops of your cheeks, which makes him think about wiping away your tears with his own hands.
He shouldn’t touch you like that. Maybe you’d think it’s just a friendly gesture, but he would know that he really means to take care of you better than the jerk who dumped you ever did.
And that means protecting your heart, even at the expense of his own.
He swears to himself that he won’t be a rebound. It’d be wrong to take advantage of you in a moment as vulnerable as this one, and he’d never forgive himself if he hurt you like that. But he’ll be damned if he lets you suffer like this alone.
“Thank you for being here,” you murmur, and your words stab him right through the heart. You have no idea what saying things like that does to him, to the longing he’s been feeling for you. That feeling has become so familiar to him that it feels like it’s a part of him now.
“Of course I’d be here,” he chokes out, forcing his voice to be gentle, gentle. His heart trembles and quakes when he sees what this other guy did to you, but rather than find out where this guy works and ask him what his problem is, Osamu wants to be right here, comforting you.
“You should be smiling,” he continues, unable to stop the words on their rapid descent from brain to mouth. His voice is so soft and raspy that even he doesn’t recognize himself. “You shouldn’t be worrying about what he thinks of you.”
He only wants you to be happy. It really is that simple. It always has been.
So, he silently promises himself and you that he’s going to wait. He’s going to be here for you while you heal from this, and he’ll help you heal from this—and when you’re ready, if you’ll have him, he’ll be yours.
"I brought ice cream," he changes the subject, afraid of how desperate he is to see you smile again. "Want some?"
He already belongs to you, anyway. Who cares if it takes you a little more time to realize it?

Dinner time
timeskip!Osamu x gn!reader
Warnings: Reader is skinny, (past) verbal abuse, ED (?)
This is very self-indulgent and I haven't been diagnosed with an ED but my relationship with food can be seen as ED-like so I put the warning there
I was in an Osamu mood so I decided to write a sweet little story for him ahahasshahsah this man ≧ ﹏ ≦ (please excuse my horrible attempt at giving Osamu the accent)
Tumblr media
Being married to Osamu was great. He treated you well, was an entertaining person and you got hooked up with the latest sibling drama straight from him.
But the one part that always bothers you is mealtime. Osamu is a great cook, which isn't surprising since he owns a restaurant and you love his food.
This would be great if Osamu wouldn't dote on you through his food so much. He always gave you the biggest servings to make sure you were well-fed and happy. It was his way of showing he loves and cares about you.
Your stomach couldn't handle large servings of food, it never could, even since childhood. Your parents always made fun of you and told you that you eat like a little baby, so you were scared he would make fun of you too if you told him.
So you tried your hardest to eat as much as you could every time, even if you weren't hungry at all or even if you felt like throwing up after. You ate even if you didn't have an appetite.
But it was worth it, seeing him smile happily while you were eating his food.
It was time for dinner again, something you grew to dread more and more.
You see, Osamu thought you enjoyed eating such big portions since you always finished them so fast when in reality you were trying to get it over with as quick as possible. So he thought he would make then even bigger.
You knew he just wanted to see you happy and that it made him very happy seeing you eat his food but you couldn't handle it anymore.
"Come here, darlin'. I cooked yer favourite." Osamu invited you to sit with him. You tried your best to hide your discomfort as you sat down across from him.
Looking at your plate, you already felt nauseous. He really did cook your favourite, but the amount...
You couldn't bring yourself to do it anymore. You ate slowly, and eventually stopped, just picking at your food to give the illusion of eating.
Osamu seemed to notice pretty quick, since his usual smile wasn't there. "What's wrong? Why aren't ya eatin'?" he asked, concerned.
"Samu, I can't do this anymore." you put down the chopsticks, looking at him with worry. He seemed taken aback and confused by the sudden change of behaviour on your end.
"What are ya talkin' about?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Osamu, I've always had a really small appetite. I've never been able to handle big portions of food and I often feel sick after eating." you confessed, looking down at your plate. Now you're going to be made fun of, told you look like a twig, that you eat like a toddler. Maybe he'll tell you to stop being ridiculous and keep eating.
You closed your eyes in anticipation of whatever insult was going to be thrown your way.
"...Why didn't ya tell me that?" his question surprised you, opening your eyes to look at him. He looked concerned.
"I'm sorry it's just- You looked so happy when I ate all your food. I didn't want to let all the food you cook for me go to waste." you admitted, looking down at your plate again.
"So ya mean to tell me you've been forcin' yerself to eat all that food for months now." he crossed his arms, narrowing his eyes. You shrunk under his gaze.
"Maybe... I'm so sorry for not telling you sooner, I-"
"What am I gonna do with ya? You gotta tell me these things, ya know?" he sighed, expression softening.
"...You're not mad?"
"Why would I be?" he looked at you as if you said something really ridiculous.
"My parents used to get mad at me when I didn't eat and called me a baby and a skeleton for eating so little." you didn't dare to look at him after you admitted that.
"Yer parents are assholes. Yer the one who knows yer body the best, I ain't gonna judge ya fer that." you couldn't stop the smile that crept up on your face. He was... okay with it?
"I'm just mad ya didn't tell me sooner. Now I feel bad for makin' you eat all that food." his eyebrows furrowed.
"No, don't feel bad. I was the one who didn't say anything and ate the food." you assured him with a relieved expression.
"Your food is amazing, I would just prefer if you gave me smaller portions from now on." you reached over the table to lightly grab one of his hands, squeezing it affectionately.
"I got ya. And by the way, yer body is beautiful." he said, squeezing your hand back.

[1:00] . . .
as the dim evening sun cast long shadows across the college campus, you found yourself reluctantly attending a party, all thanks to atsumu’s incessant pestering. the day had been nothing short of a nightmare, and your mood was about as gloomy as the approaching night. the barista had gotten your order mixed up and in the process of getting your right drink, you’d embarrassingly walked into class late. then, you’d embarrassed yourself again by slipping and falling in the middle of the cafeteria—simply because you hadn’t read the sign that said the floor was wet.
the bass-heavy music thumped through the house, drowning out any semblance of conversation. you felt out of place and awkward, clinging to the solitude of a corner, clutching your red cup with a weak smile in a white sweater and jeans.
atsumu had disappeared into the throngs of people, leaving you alone to fend for yourself. you should have known better than to trust him with your night, but you didn’t have the heart to refuse him. your eyes darted around the room, seeking refuge from the growing discomfort.
you were aware of familiar faces around you. perhaps you convinced yourself that the girl you exchanged smiles with in the hallway was someone who knew you, or that the guy who once kindly retrieved your dropped pen had some awareness of your name.
you wanted desperately to leave. yet, dealing with atsumu meant dealing with someone with an uncanny ability to catch wind of events happening clear across the country. he could rival a news station or an international radio, for all you knew. the prospect of leaving without him knowing seemed futile; either someone would spill the beans, or atsumu would uncover the information in his uniquely unpredictable way. understanding the ways of that guy's brain was a feat beyond comprehension.
you wish osamu was here. or suna. but god knows where those two were.
"oh my god, it's you!" you felt someone tap at your shoulder. you turn, seeing someone from high-school. no, no, no, this is not what you expected when that piss-haired setter said "all the cool people will be there" or something like "how long will you sulk at home".
"hi, kira," your voice falters as you meet her gaze. she used to share managerial duties with you back in the high school volleyball club. memories flood in of the numerous times she'd relentlessly targeted you just for your friendship with the twins and suna. her animosity persisted even when you extended kindness. there was that one instance she trapped you in the broom closet post a volleyball match, and you'd sat in there surrounded by cleaning supplies. osamu eventually discovered you, with your hair plastered to your face from hours of confinement and sweat.
"look who made their way to tokyo," she grinned, "didn't know you had it in you."
you almost scoff. after the dreadful day you'd had, you didn't want to deal with her. this wasn't high-school anymore. you were adults. hopefully, she'd grown a brain by now.
"yeah, i'm trying to pursue physiotherapy," you nod along. she rolls her eyes, "what, so you wanna follow around atsumu for the rest of your life? don't you have your own interests?"
"i'm sorry?" you furrow your eyebrows, "where did you get that from?"
"everyone knows that the only reason you even have a social life is because you grew up with the twins," she says, matter-of-factly. you grit your teeth, clutching your cup. you'd had enough for today. you really did. you were trying your hardest not to say anything back.
"in fact, the only reason osamu never went for me is because of you," she takes a sip out of her cup, "i wonder why he even looks at you like that when i'm literally right here-"
emphasis on 'trying' your hardest. fuck that, you think.
"look, i've had enough of your bullshit," you spit out, "either get a life or leave me alone. not everyone wants to fuck their friends. now, if you'd excuse me-"
that's when she does it. spill her wine all over your white sweater. you look down at the stain, wool sticking to your skin. horror fluctuates through your face for a moment before you say, "god, real mature of you, kira. ruin someone's sweater just because they don't want to be near you. fuck."
"good luck getting the stain out, you little shit," she whispers in your ear, walking away. people give you stares, and suddenly you feel like you're back in school. whispers fester themselves into your ears and you feel small. you wish you could tell atsumu off right about now. that this party would suck and end up making your already shitty day worse. but he was nowhere to be seen and your eyes felt heavy. you weren't even sad—just stressed and angry that your sweater got ruined.
osamu gave you this sweater a few months ago for christmas. you hated that you wished he could've been here to save the day or something. you hated that you always wished for that. for him to see you, care for you, or save you. the weight of the day, the wine-soaked sweater, and the longing for someone who wasn't there pressed on you, a symphony of discontent crescendoing in the backdrop of the party's superficial revelry.
when were you going to learn that no one would come to save you?
and so you ran, out from whoever's house this was. tears threatening to drop, you sniffed in a sharp breath as you clutched yourself. your throat felt dry, and when your eyes landed on a smiling suna who widened his arms to say hi, you turned the other way. he seems confused, calling out for you—but you keep walking. you should've never come.
when you reach your apartment, closing the door behind you swiftly, is when you finally let yourself cry. why couldn't you simply walk away? why couldn't you ever pick yourself in a group of people? was it really that important for you to stand there after the first insult about how you made it to tokyo? why was she even there, anyway? as you collapsed onto your worn-out couch, the weight of teenage angst pressed against your chest. the city lights flickered outside your window, mirroring the turmoil within. tokyo, with its bustling streets and neon signs, felt like a maze of emotions, and tonight, you were lost. suddenly, everything about your home seemed suffocating too.
your phone rings. you ignore it.
but then, notifications start piling in out of nowhere. you hear the specific 'ding!' of the groupchat around seventeen times before you pick up the phone.
videos, texts, and calls stare back at you. two videos that suna had sent, then spammed the chat along with atsumu. calls and texts from osamu, asking for where you were.
the doorbell rings.
you look up from your screen, blinking profusely. lips parted and brows twisted into a knot, you walk up to the door—still in the soiled sweater and black jeans—and open it. a panting osamu stands in front of you, holding the side of your door for support as he looks up and says, "hey."
"hey," you mumble, "what are you doing here?"
he narrows his eyes at you, standing up straight, "what do ya mean 'what am i doing here'? i texted and said i was comin'. didn't you check your phone?"
"not really, no. i was just about to, though," you shake your head then you look down at your sweater,, "i've had quite the shit day."
"i see that," he chuckles, "can i come in?"
you swing the door open wide, and he slips off his shoes at the entrance, shooting you a sheepish grin. "might wanna check the group chat now," he suggests.
with a sigh, you retrieve your phone from your pocket, fingers dancing across the screen to open the groupchat first. suna and atsumu's inquiries about you fill the screen, but as you scroll further, a wave of emojis and messages like "DESERVED LMAO" catch your eye. and then, a video.
you tap on it, and suddenly, the screen is alive with the sight of miya osamu vehemently berating the woman who had insulted you. the clip unfolds with him ordering her to leave, or face even harsher consequences. a barrage of swear words fills the air, leaving you almost breathless as you try to process the intensity of his acts.
"what's wrong?" he asks, when you toss the phone onto the coffee table. you shake your head, "you don't have to come rescuing me every time i'm in trouble."
"well, honey," he smoothly looks at you. you shake your head, "no. do not use that word. you've lost pet name privileges."
"hey, that girl trash talked ya and terrorized ya for all o' high-school. and now she ruined the pretty sweater i got ya. that's the first gift i gave ya after i confessed!" he says defensively.
"no one even knows about us, 'samu!" you chuckle. he looks at you judgily, as if asking whose fault it is that your relationship is so private. you pout, changing the topic, "although i'm sad about the sweater. it's all pink now."
"i'll get you another one," he groans, walking to you, "i'm learning how to crochet from ma on video-chat every weekend. granted, i can only do granny squares for now, but i promise you'll have a new sweater in no time."
"you're going to make me a sweater from scratch?" you coo, "what a great boyfriend you are."
"stop cooin' at me like i'm yer childhood dog," he grunts, "let's get this sweater off and you in the shower."
"what, so you can join me?" you raise an eyebrow. he gives you a cheeky smile, and you shake your head, "i feel like shit. maybe afterward."
"pizza and movies?" he immediately suggests.
you grin, "that too. maybe some hot chocolate."
"on it."

angst, you say?
Like, I am sorry to inform you, but when you and Osamu break up, he can no longer see or make or think about your favorite foods.
Your favorite Onigiri? Not on the menu anymore.
It’s a bizarre recipe too. One he made for you by accident, one you insisted on trying while he was testing new flavor combinations. It was a pain to make, hard to replicate, but for you, he’d do anything, absolutely anything to make you smile.
Now that you’re gone, he saves himself to consistent heartache in making it, taking it off the menu in hopes to combat the sight of you, pleading him to make it, jutting your lip out and clasping your fingers together while he looks you up and down in amusement. Now that you’re gone, he saves himself the trouble of tears stinging his eyes of the memories swirling in his head of you, sitting on the counter as he makes it at home, sneaking bites of rice from him when he’s turned around, only to act like you never did it.
It was on the menu for years. Only one person ordered it consistently. You.
So it’s completely normal why he bites his thumb nail as this damn seven year old, seemingly fresh out of a dance recital comes in, hands and chin hooked on the counter as her mother orders food, asking about her favorite onigiri no longer being served.
“Sorry, Miss, we haven’t had that on the menu in months-“
“But you’ve gotta make it!” She pouts. “I always get it after my dance recitals! It’s my favorite…”
“Yumei, don’t be rude!” Her mother scolds.
Osamu takes a deep breath in and rolls his shoulders, smiling softly at the young girl.
“Maybe I can whip one up. Just for you.” He leans slightly over the register, “but don’t tell anyone, okay?”
She gasps excitedly and bounces on the balls of her feet, squeaking out a “thanks, mister!” as her mother pays.
It kills him as he puts the order into the system for the cooks to make. It kills him as the cooks look at him like he’s got five heads, “we uh… we don’t know how to make this, Miya.”
“That’s alright,” he chokes, swallowing thickly. “Just watch the register.
“I’ll take care of it.”

His kid asks him to stay away (Oikawa, Atsumu)
Inspired by two scenes from Gilmore Girls.
Part of the AU: His best friend's wife (Osamu's side)
Oikawa is surprised but beaming when he finds his daughter standing outside his hotel suite. "Hey, princess!" He envelopes Yuma (悠真) in a tight hug, which she reluctantly returns.
"I'm sorry I didn't call–"
Tooru shakes his head, squeezing her shoulders. "Nonsense. You're always welcome here. Hey, I made that corned beef that you like. The one with potatoes? I can heat them up right now. Come inside."
"No, that's okay. Listen, dad..." She takes a step back, pulling herself away from his arms. "Mom has a boyfriend."
Tooru blinks. "Oh."
"It's Uncle Iwa."
He inhales sharply. "Yeah, I...I heard."
Japan's team had a plethora of colorful characters, and the more noisy members liked to talk online and post photos of their unknowing teammates, coaches, and trainers. One particular trainer had many candid photos of him and Oikawa's ex wife in the background. You were never active in social media, so Tooru shamefully relied on his daughter's posts to see how you were doing. Her posts were always the same: friends, school, you and her together. You two were like the happier, healthier version of the Gilmore Girls. And there was no other man in your life as far as he can tell.
Everything was fine until last month.
Last month was your first birthday after the divorce. Tooru was in Argentina and could only send a polite greeting and of course, you only sent a simple 'thank you.'
The same time, his daughter uploaded two photos: one was of you two, and the other was of you and his best friend, sitting awfully close to each other.
He remembered that day like it was yesterday. After seeing Iwaizumi so close to you with the faintest red in his face, he had to know, he had to ask.
Three rings before the trainer picked up.
"What the hell, Trashykawa–"
"Are you seeing my wife?"
"..."
Tooru didn't even need an answer. The silence spoke for itself. But he wanted to hear what his friend had to say.
"Oikawa..."
"Please, Iwa-chan. Tell me the truth," he whispers. Iwaizumi had to have known how much Tooru still loves you, how much he wants to turn back time and fix everything. He had to know, because Tooru cried to him the night he signed the papers.
On the other side of the line, Iwaizumi inhales. Then he says, "She's not your wife anymore."
Tooru hung up. He was glad that Japan was an ocean away, because he would've driven straight to Iwaizumi's house and beat him up.
"Dad?" his daughter calls out to him.
"Sorry, sweetie, daddy spaced out for a bit."
His daughter examines his face, her own expression hesitant but determined. She sticks her hands into her coat pocket and speaks up again: "I want you to stay away from them."
Time stills and Tooru feels sick. "You...what?"
"Dad, I love you but...but you hurt mom."
"Honey, I– "
"And it doesn't matter if you mean to or not, you just do. You just do. And before you start, you should know that mom never speaks bad about you, well, not in front of me anyway--"
Tooru should be proud. Even at this moment his sweet Yuma retains his and your snarkiness. But right now he just wants to throw up.
"My point," she continues, "is that I'm not here because mom says you're the devil."
"I know. Your mom isn't like that."
"So then you know that she doesn't deserve getting clobbered."
"... I do."
"She deserves to be happy, dad, and Uncle Iwa makes her happy. I know that you must be mad and hurt but I'm begging you to please let them be."
Tooru can't bring himself to open his mouth as his daughter brushes back her hair, trying to hold back her tears. "I'm still gonna visit you and you can visit me. You can get angry at them and me but don't do anything because... because you should see how mom smiles now."
He understands. Looking back at it now, he couldn't recall the last time you smile so genuinely when you were with him.
His little girl, acting not so little anymore, rubs her face. "Anyway, that's all I got to say. It was nice seeing you."
"Wait–"
"I still have to meet up with my friends."
"At least let me drive–"
"This isn't Argentina, dad," she points out.
He doesn't have a car here. "Right."
She gives him a pitying look but only mutters out a "bye" before leaving.
Tooru silently opens the door to his hotel room.
He heats up the leftover corned beef from last night and sets down his plate on the table, settling in front of the TV.
But he doesn't eat or even listen to the news.
He cradles his head between his hands.
His only daughter, his sweet, little princess who should be free of troubles, came here just to tell him to stay away.
"Dammit." He swallows the lump in his throat as he fiddles with the ring he refuses to take off. "I'm pathetic."
You didn’t ask much. You always supported Atsumu, always defended him from your family when your parents accused him of abandoning you, always made excuses and did everything–everything to keep your relationship happy.
You loved your job and if someone were to go back in time and ask you if you would sacrifice your career for a guy, you’d throw your head back and guffaw, because the idea was insane. But then you met Atsumu, and he wasn’t just some guy. He was the guy. He was sweet and funny and supportive. He adored his mother, he had a good relationship with his brother. He was passionate and he shone brighter than anyone.
And you loved how much he loved volleyball.
So you didn’t ask for much.
You didn’t complain when he had to leave you alone when he was off to Argentina or China for weeks and months.
You didn’t whine when he couldn’t accompany you to family reunions and weddings of close friends.
It was your idea to quit your job the moment the test came out positive.
Sure, you loved your job–love your job–but Atsumu was your whole world. You never thought you’d have someone like him in your life and you were determined to be happy with him and the bundle of joy you two made.
Your son was born healthy. Hiroyuki (ヒロユキ), you decided to name him. Atsumu was there and he showed off the little runt to the doctor who delivered, to the nurses who helped, and your family members waiting outside.
You didn’t expect yourself to end up the way you did, but everything was fine.
Your boys were healthy.
Your husband was doing great. Every week there was always a shower of praise for your genius setter.
Your son grew up nothing like his dad though: while Atsumu was brash and loud-mouthed, his son was a quiet and polite boy who hated conflict; while Atsumu lived for volleyball, his son hated getting dirty and sweaty and preferred academics.
You and Atsumu still wanted him to be healthy though, so you encouraged him to exercise and pursue other hobbies.
Your son only begrudgingly agreed to get you both to shut up.
Everything was great.
You were great. You were content.
But then you saw it, a single message from an unknown number on your husband’s phone.
“I had an amazing night. Call me when you’re in the city.”
Your shining world crumbled in an instant.
You couldn’t remember what you did next. You vaguely recall smashing the device into a mirror and locking yourself in the guest bedroom.
The next six months were a blur, too.
You froze out your husband though you didn’t tell your son the truth, only telling him that mommy and daddy just couldn’t be with each other anymore. Some people were appalled that you wanted to get a divorce. “Because so what if he cheated?” They had asked. “Think of your son.”
You did think of your son. Ever since you discovered you were pregnant with him, you always thought of your son.
The divorce was for his sake as much as yours, because you had no guarantee that you wouldn’t end up murdering his father if you stayed next to him.
So you bought a different house in the next city, got your old job back, and got divorced. Shared custody.
The whole ordeal felt unreal. Every day, you felt like you would float out to space, but you had Hiroyuki, who liked to tug on your pants and remind you: “I’m here, mama.”
You would laugh and give him the tightest hug every time. You wished you didn’t cry so much every time though. You wanted to be stronger for both of you.
And you were strong enough.
With your baby and your job back, you became too busy to even think about your cheating ex.
Fast forward years later and it’s now your baby’s middle school graduation.
“You’re now a man!”
“Stop it, mom.”
“Whatever happened to ‘mama’?”
“Mom.”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” You kissed his cheek. “Your dad should be here soon.”
“It’s okay, I’m not a kid anymore, you don’t have to lie.”
You gently flicked his forehead. “I made sure to tell him.”
He blinked. “You did?”
“I did.”
“When…when did you tell him?”
“Last week–”
“You didn’t have to tell him.”
“He’s still your dad.”
“Yeah, my dad,” he bitterly repeats. Although the lawyers agreed on shared custody, the man was rarely around. When it was Atsumu’s turn to take care of Hiroyuki, he was almost never at home and the people who took care of the kid were either his mom or his brother. Truth be told, Hiroyuki didn’t care. How could he possibly forget the many days he caught his mom trying desperately to hide her sadness and the many nights she sobbed in her bedroom when she thought her son was asleep? Children weren’t idiots. And Hiroyuki never bought into the idea that kids needed a mother and a father either. Why would he? He grew up with only his mother being there for him, so why would he need his father now?
“I would’ve called him myself if you really wanted him here,” he says.
“It’s not about me wanting him here, it’s about him having to want to be here, and he should be here. It’s his only son’s graduation.”
“Middle school graduation. It’s nothing.”
“It’s not nothing.”
“It’s a celebration in mediocrity.”
“That’s a lot coming from the valedictorian and…” You fall quiet.
“What’s wrong?” He turns to follow your line of sight.
He exhales when he sees his sperm-donor walking into the auditorium, dressed in a clean polo shirt and some woman hanging off his elbow.
His Uncle Samu’s right: the man’s an idiot.
“Hey, mom, could you get me a soda?”
“Huh?” You snap out of your trance.
“I’m kinda thirsty.”
You try to protest but quickly quiet down before giving your son a sad smile and walking towards the cafeteria.
Hiroyuki inherited his father’s height so it only took a few strides before he caught up to the man and his plus one.
“Hi dad.”
Atsumu grins at his son. “There he is, the man of the hour. Happy graduation, kid!”
Hiroyuki bites his lip. He hates how oblivious this guy is. He hates how he could smile like this and bring this woman with him like nothing’s wrong and that everything is okay.
He doesn’t say anything else and an awkwardness falls between the three of them.
Atsumu clears his throat and gestures towards his date. “Have you met–”
“–no.” Hiroyuki shuts him down. “Dad, can we talk? Alone.”
The woman looks peeved and makes a face, like she’s expecting Atsumu to get mad on her behalf, but the volleyball player only shrugs and pulls his arm away from her. “Sure thing.”
The two guys walk to a corner in the room, away from prying eyes.
“Hey, I got you some cash but it kinda feels like it’s not enough, so do you have anything you want for today?”
Without hesitation, Hiroyuki speaks up: “Stay away from mom.”
Atsumu’s head swerves and he is forced to look straight into the clear, unyielding eyes of his only son.
There is a pause.
Atsumu lets out a nervous chuckle. “I’m sorry, I thought I just heard you say that you want me to stay away from your mom.”
“You heard right.” Hiroyuki crosses his arms. “Dad, I know what you’re trying to do.”
“What’re you talking about?”
“Bringing that woman here? I know you’re trying to make mom jealous.”
“That’s ridiculous! First of all, that woman is named Ochaco.”
“What’s her last name?”
“...”
“Dad, just stop. That’s the best thing you can give me.”
“Son–”
“I know you still love her.” Hiroyuki knows how the man looks at you, because it’s the same look you had whenever you heard his name or saw him on the news. He hates that you’re still in love with your ex, because those feelings blinded you from realizing how his Uncle Samu looks at you; Samu who helped you move, Samu who packed your things into boxes because you couldn’t bear a second longer in Atsumu’s house, Samu who made sure you and Hiro were always fed, Samu who could comfort you in ways Hiro couldn’t because you didn’t want to look weak in front of your boy. “But you can’t be together, not anymore, so please just stop these stupid games and go back.”
“What?”
“I have mom, I have Uncle Samu, they’re all I need.”
“Hiro–”
The speakers blared with feedback before the emcee called for all graduates to find their seats.
“I have to go. Bye, dad.”
Atsumu wants to pull back his son, to talk with him, but seeing his little boy walking confidently away from him broke his heart.
He bites his lip.
He really did f*** up.

Hopeless romantic
Part 1 ◇ Part 2 ◇ Part 3
Tumblr media
Warnings: none
Content: osamu x reader, Angst (to fluff in the next chapters), hurt/comfort
A/n: Guess the Song of Achilles reference! :)
Tumblr media
It has been around three weeks since you last saw Osamu that day: you took your chance to scurry away when he went back into the kitchen briefly, leaving your payment to Tsumoto.
The memory of his embrace with another woman still lingered in your mind, but you were able to distract yourself with the hundreds of books on your shelf and the dogs in the shelter.
You took this time to explore other places in the city, from the cozy Indian restaurant near your workplace, where the taste of salty chapati mixed with matar paneer melted in your mouth like butter, to the Mexican fast food spot at the corner of the library, where you savoured the taste of chiles en nogada followed by elotes. Yet,  nothing compared to Osamu’s handmade onigiris, the taste of his love surpassed any food you’ve ever tried.
You don’t believe he didn’t notice your absence, but it wouldn’t bother him that much, you assume, since you’re nothing more than a friendly regular.
Or at least, you used to be a regular.
Now you are just a girl who spends her days between work and shelter,  occasionally going out to drink with the few friends you have. You know it’s wrong to use alcohol to dull the suffering, but sometimes it’s the only way to remind yourself that life still holds meaning, and that happiness, however fleeting, can be found.
But not going to Osamu’s restaurant has its consequences, like going to the grocery store to buy all the necessities to make a healthy meal and right now you are not exactly having fun doing all this.
When you were a child, your mother always told you to learn how to cook and clean because “someday you’ll have to do it for your future husband”, so, as an act of rebellion, you refused to learn anything other than the most basic dishes of your culture; this act of rebellion ended up biting your ass now because you are tired of eating the same basic things over and over again and you miss Osamu’s food.
You wander through the aisles, searching for the ingredients of the recipe you want to try.
it has been at least half an hour now and you’re meticulously selecting each item, trying to get the correct amount of food. You always tend to buy more than necessary, which ends up with you never using that specific product again and making it go to waste—like the honey syrup you bought for your pre-made pancakes that now sits untouched. You don’t even have time to eat breakfast most of the time.
You are trying to understand which vegetables are less decayed than others when someone approaches you slowly.
“That one will go bad in like 2 days.”
You startle at first, but you freeze completely the second you meet his eyes.
“Hey.” he smiles.
Oh my god oh my god oh my god, please why did he have to come here out of all the grocery stores in the city?
You tried to forget about him like an unwanted pest, avoiding all the places he could be at, you even chose a longer path home so you wouldn’t bump into him while he closed the restaurant. You are old and tired and so is your heart, it can scarcely bear the burden of yet another heartbreak.
You drew in a slow, steadying breath before replying.
“Hi Osamu, long time no see.” you try your best to beam at him, like nothing has touched you, like you don’t want to run away this instant, like you don’t want to scream at him and hurl all these vegetables at him because you hate him for shattering the last remnants of hope you had left in you.
Like you don’t love him at all.
You tend to buy more than necessary, just like you tend to let your feelings grow more than necessary, and then, then they stay there, growing and decaying at the same time, festering with pests and resentment.
“Yeah, because someone hasn’t been coming to my restaurant lately.” He remarked with a petty edge to his voice.
Well, you jumped into that one.
A nervous laugh leaves your lips, “I was just … busy. We got a few more dogs in the shelter and it’s been a little hectic.” your voice is barely a whisper, laden with the weight of your lies.
Coward, liar, ugly.
He nods in quiet understanding, picking a zucchini with a pristine surface, a stark contrast to your rotten life. “Take this one. What’re ya making?.”
You take the vegetable from his hands and place it in your bag, his kindness pressing against the walls you've erected around your fragile heart “I don’t know,” you sigh, “I'm trying to make some vegetarian lasagna, but I already know it's going to suck. I’m a terrible cook.”
“You can always learn, you know.” he counters, a playful smirk gracing his lips “I wasn’t born with a knife in my hand.”
You roll your eyes, pushing your cart forward. “I’m lazy. And I don’t have anyone to teach me in a fun way.”
“I could teach you. Although I'm not sure if I can do it ‘in a fun way’” he signs with his fingers, “you won't die of boredom, I guess?”
“I’m always having fun with you, Osamu.”  And it’s true.
“That’s crazy considering that you haven’t come to meet me in three weeks.”
“Oh god, you’re so petty!”
“Hell yeah, I am!”
You stare at each other before bursting into loud giggles; his eyes crinkle as he looks at you and you try so hard to ignore the warmth of your cheeks.
(and the warmth in your chest).
You are not used to being loved but you are used to love, and you can’t help wanting to stay around those you love, can’t ignore the tugs of your heartstrings. You know it will only end up in heartache and you are already regretting what’s coming out of your mouth, but you can’t stop it.
“Well? Will you teach me then?”
He smiles, and his face is like the sun.

HIGH ACHIEVER

HIGH ACHIEVER
pairings: f!reader x miya atsumu
! lowercase intended !
WARNINGS: panic attacks, anxiety
THERE YOU SAT IN FRONT OF YOUR SCREEN. you’ve been working on this essay for hours but for some reason you just can’t focus. the brightness blinding your eyes as you blink rapidly. you look at the time, it was almost three in the morning. shit you thought to yourself, spending all this time writing made you forget about your other duties. you still had to clean before your mother got back the next morning, you still had homework to be done from the school day. usually, you were on top of things like this. but today, there were just extra things floating around her mind. ‘ if i don’t pass this i’ll be a disappointment ‘ , ‘ how is tsumu going to date a girl that can’t even finish writing an essay ‘ , ‘ my moms gonna beat my ass when she gets back ‘
just like that, your thinking had got the best of you. you fingers started feeling tingly, the room felt too hot, your thoughts were too loud. your head lays into the palms of hands  as you sit at your desk hyperventilating. “ just breath, just breath. “ you whisper to yourself. your hand started to reach for your phone as you call the contact under “ tsumu <3 “ the other line picked up as you could hear a tired atsumu say, “ hello?- “ he heard your pants and sobs through the call, “ hey, hey, y/n breath for me okay? i’m on my way right now. “ he said as you heard him leave his home. your voice couldn’t even make out any words. atsumu knew about your anxiety, your panic attacks have only happened a few times in the span of your relationship. atsumu knew what to do though, his twin used to have the same anxieties.
you heard your front door open and atsumu rushed inside your room. he was greeted with you sitting on your desk chair with your hands on your face. he walked up to you and crouched down a bit to the chair so he didn’t look intimidating to you. “ y/n just breath with me okay, inhale… “ he demonstrated. “ now exhale. “ he did breaths with you until your breathing was steadier than before. his heart always broke at the sight of you being so vulnerable in a position like this. “ oh y/n.. “ he pulled you into a tight embrace, “ sweetheart, you’ve got to stop overworking yourself. “ he stroked your hair as you had started to calm down more. “ tsumu if i don’t get this work done my moms going to be so disappointed “ you said with a shaky voice. “ y/n, your the smartest person i know. your going to ace this essay, i know it. you still have what- two days before its due? that’s enough time my love. just take it step by step. “ he said, wiping the tears off of your face.
a few minutes passed of comfortable silence as you had calmed down. you two were now on the bed as your head was currently resting in the crook of atsumus neck and his arms were wrapped around you. “ thank you tsumu, i seriously don’t know what i would do without you. “ you looked up at him. “ of course sweetheart, you don’t have to thank me. all apart of my job. “ he said as he gave your forehead a small peck while you fell asleep in his arms.

bed peace
synopsis: after a very hurtful breakup, osamu takes his time to help you heal and takes the time to call suna out on his bs. at graduation, osamu offers up a deal that you almost can’t pass up.
genre: hurt/comfort, fluff
pairings: osamu x g!n reader (mentions of past suna x g!n reader)
pre a/n: not proofread so don’t eat me up but this is a second part to my angst suna x reader oneshot, linked right here 📍
a/n: it’s kinda funny how this was requested since i only wrote that because it was my personal situation that i turned into a oneshot to feel better. you guys r so cute haha (thank you to @multi-fandom-fanfic for the req and reblog!)
Tumblr media
‘ after the breakup, you were notably upset. everyone in a 5 mile radius could tell you were heartbroken.
‘ suna avoided you like the plague the entire duration of exam week. he couldn’t bear the guilt of seeing you.
‘osamu ignored suna for a couple days for how he treated you, claiming that he needed to “think about how much of a dickhead he was being”
‘ osamu made sure to lift your spirits as much as he could, it was so sweet.
“why does y/n look so sad all the time? i thought you guys were on good terms?” atsumu asked as he sat down between suna and osamu during graduation rehearsal.
“nah. we’re done, like for good.” suna mumbled, not even bothering to look up as he continued to scroll on his phone.
“what happened?” atsumu asked, his eyebrows raising at suna’s nonchalant demeanor. it was unusual to see suna ever talk about you with such lackluster eyes.
“dumbass over here was all cuddled up with some girl during the third year picnic.” osamu answered before suna could get the chance, glaring at him slightly.
“wha- you guys were on a break then, no? sunarin, wtf?” atsumu spoke, his face curling up in a displeased way.
“i wasn’t even doing anything. like you said, it was a break. they took it personally i guess because they thought we were getting back together.” suna started with a harsh sigh, eyes refusing to look up because he knew osamu and probably atsumu were now glaring daggers at him.
atsumu and osamu considered you a really good friend. when suna introduced you to them, you guys immediately bonded. the twins treated you as a sweet little sibling and always made sure to threaten suna for hurting you.
“you are such a dickhead. i hope you know that.” osamu scoffed, his irritation for the whole situation was strong.
after the picnic, osamu made sure to text you after seeing you walk off with tears staining your face. he wanted to give you space but wanted to make sure that you were alright because he cared for you a lot more than he led on. after a couple of days of sulking, osamu pulled you aside after your chemistry exam and asked you what was wrong. you explained everything and he immediately began comforting you. he went straight to suna and asked about the sitaution, wanting to hear both sides of the story. after hearing suna’s, samu immediately chewed him out.
“it was a break, samu. i didn’t even do anything with ayako. i don’t know why you keep bitching about it.” suna spit, his phone finally shut off and his head shot up in irritation.
“maybe because you literally broke, y/n? you led them on for weeks, ever since our last volleyball game. texting them and saying that you loved them. who wouldn’t think you wanna get back together after that? they were so hopeful, just to see you all cuddled up and giggly with some girl. you’re such a dick, you don’t even feel bad. you could at least apologize, have some fuckin’ decency.” osamu’s voice raised slightly, his hands shaking as he moves toward suna.
“that wasn’t my fucking intention, they should’ve never took it to heart. if you care about y/n so damn much, why not go fucking date them. how much longer are you gonna chew me out? i know what i did was fucking stupid, i’ve tried apologizing but they blocked me on everything. what else do you want me to do?” suna yells, passerbys begin to look over at them. atsumu finally steps in and tells both samu and suna to keep it down because you were sitting not far across the room with a group of your friends.
“maybe, apologize in person and i’ll stop chewing you out. if you just act like you actually loved them and maybe, just maybe, sunarin, you would never be in this situation.” osamu spit before standing up and stalking off to go sit by himself, closer to y/n.
suna looks over to atsumu and begins to open up his mouth but atsumu cuts him off with a quick dissapointed head shake before speaking, “no, you fucked up. ya gotta fix it, sunarin.” and walks off to join his brother, leaving suna in his silence.
****
graduation rehearsal ended and you spent most of the free time sitting with your friends and the twins, laughing about silly school memories. it had been 2 weeks since the break up and although you were busy, you were still really upset. even after it all, osamu stayed by your side and tried to make you smile and laugh as much as possible.
as you said goodbye to your friends, preparing to walk home you heard someone call your name. you turned around to see suna, standing there. your eyes widened and you spun on your heels, ready to walk away.
“wait, y/n. please, i just want to explain.” suna spoke, his eyes pleading as he walked closer to you.
“what.” you spoke, not bothering to look up, passing off an irritated voice.
“um..i just wanted to explain. i’m sorry if i lead you on, i never really intended on getting back toget-” suna started, his fingers fumbling with the edges of his shirt.
“i’m gonna stop you there. if that was the case, you could’ve said something. the reason for that break was for you to be honest about what you wanted. so don’t try and say that you “didnt mean too,” you spoke and suna retaliated in an embarrassed silence.
“i’m sorry..you didn’t deserve that and you should know that nothing was ever going on with me and that girl, from the third year picnic. i really wish you the best, i’m sorry...again.” suna said, making sure to finally look up at your state. your eyes lacked their normal shine and your face wasn’t as radiant as it used to be, the guilt and regret was hitting him like a bus.
“not saying we’re gonna be cool after this but i appreciate it. have a good life too, suna.” you finished before walking off in the opposite direction, leaving suna to his thoughts again. it seems that it was now suna’s time to be heartbroken.
*****
graduation day
“i can’t believe it, we’re finally graduates. it’s so cool that we’ll be going to the same college.” you said to osamu as you guys waited for atsumu to finish crying over his high school days being over and saying goodbye to nearly the entire population of third years.
“yea, seems like you’re the only one excited.” samu says, somber smile gracing his features.
“tsumu still pissed at you?” you asked, patting his shoulder sweetly.
“yup, only talked with me when our ma’ wanted pictures. he’ll get over it, he’s excited to see me open up a restaurant, he just won’t admit it.” osamu spoke with a sigh as he leaned his weight on you. both of you chatting before osamu noticed suna glancing over at you with sad eyes.
“hey, y/n. are you okay? after ya know, suna almost ruined the end of your third year.” osamu asked gently, pushing you back slightly so he can look you in your eyes.
“it sucks but he apologized and honestly, i’m over it. it was what it was. i’m ready to move on.” you said, confidently as you smiled happily at osamu who’s face lit up with warmth.
“oh and y/n, you deserve real love and someone who’s willing to give it to you.” osamu said, his eyes never leaving yours.
“maybe i’ll find them in college.” you replied.
“or maybe, it could be me.” osamu said, smile growing larger as he watched your eyes widen slightly in shock.
“i like you a lot y/n....you don’t have to answer now. there’s a lot of time for us to become....us.” samu said before pulling you in for a quick hug, allowing you to relax at how comforting osamu had always been.

Hello, could you possibly write a osamu miya x reader fic (or idk how you call it) ? For the scenario i don’t really know, but could the reader be rather quiet, reserved but not shy (idk if that makes sense) has hard time expressing themselves/their emotions, like quite bad at feelings. Anyway, I really like your work, it's always great and fun! Hope you have a nice day
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH
i decided to write it in an actual fanfic format 😼
It took a minute for Osamu to process what he was seeing. It was the teams manager, crying like a baby as she rested was sitting outside. School had ended a long time ago, and they were probably the only two students near the campus as of yet.
He hid behind a wall, listening to her vent her emotions which is something he’s.. never seen. Ever.
Osamu knew she wasn’t one to ever show her emotions, and despite being quite the social person, she never really told anyone how she felt. She was oddly mature for a 17 year old, and had the feelings of a rock.
And despite all that, he still had those sweet highschool feelings for the girl- so he knew he had to comfort her.
He sat down beside her as she wiped her tears, realizing that he was there. Right beside her.
“Oh-hey..I..umm..” she stammered, trying to make herself look normal.
“You ok? You look..well..tired.” Osamu said, as he turned around to face her.
Her face was pale, her eyes red as she was shaking-probably from the crying. He watched as she smiled at him, obviously a fake one.
“Eh, Im fine.”
“No you’re not.”
They argued for a good few minutes, untill the girl put her head on his shoulder, sniffing. She closes her eyes, falling asleep.
The duo sat there on the grass, as Osamu pet her hair and cuddled with her, while she peacefully slept next to him.
