Welcome to this year’s HeiZuha-Week, where we want to come together and create one or more special pieces about our favorite (to-be) couple!

You like the couple Kazuha and Heiji? Then you're at the right place!

As every year, the HeiZuha-Week will again include the Hattori-Day (August 10th)!

Around that time, our beloved Osakan Couple will return with a new case in the Japanese Manga-Series, so I decided on the theme

Reunion / Return

To give you some prompts, here’s the daily list!

Case Closure: Heiji returns to Osaka, after successfully solving a case in another city. Kazuha, who was worried during his abscence, waits for him. Ideas: dangerous case, lost case, dispute, argument, long-distance relationship

School Commitments: Because of commitments at school, Kazuha and Heiji haven’t had much time with each other. Finally, all commitments are over and they find a quiet moment. Ideas: school festival, tournaments, exams

Lost: Kazuha and/or Heiji get lost on a trip. After hours of searching, they find each other again. Ideas: Woods/Forest, dangerous case, big city, crowded place, snowstorm, school trip

Dangerous Situation: Kazuha/Heiji gets kidnapped/trapped in a dangerous situation (can be also funny dangerous, like accidentally trapped in the girl's changing room?) and the other has to come to the rescue! Will they be there in time? Ideas: kidnapping, accident, crash, trapped, captious situation

Old Friends: Years have passed and still no couple – even worse! They have lost sight of each other over the years (or maybe have fallen out?) ! Are they worried, the other half might have found a love? Ideas: Study abroad, working abroad, new old love, undercover mission, unsent letters, old memories, long-distance relationship

Another Life: In another life they find/found each other again. Will they recognize each other? Will things be different? Ideas: Isekai, Afterlife, Reincarnation, Past Lifes, Alternate Universes, timetravel/changing past

Returning Memories: May it be because of years passed or lost memory.. They remember old times and relive old feelings. What might their older self think about themselves? Ideas: Photos, lost memory, nostalgia

You can stick to the daily prompts or do an overall work for the whole week by using just the theme or combine different prompts as you like 🙂

After some chat with my dear @fuchstastisch I decided to revive the @osakan-ask-blog with not only asks but drawn daily life short stories from our Osakan friends.

I’m still in the phase of planning stuff and sorting out ideas but if you’ve some requests or daily life prompts about them, their families and friends running around your head, feel free to drop them into the inbox over there!

That ideas can involve canon events (like continuation after event thoughts), childhood stories and well daily life of an Highschool detective and his best friend, friends and family.

I want to revive this blog soon with not only asks but also introduce short comics under the title „Daily Osaka“.

Because in the past I often talked with mutuals about how sad it is to not experience the Osakan Life in Detective Conan.

So for a fresh start I deleted all old questions (I’m sorry!). You’re welcome to send in new questions or headcanons about daily life of the Osakan cast!

I want to stick to canon timeline so please only involve and expect tiny relationship development, doki doki moments and funny or dramatic scenes. ✨

The Freedom of Expression radio version - Ep 26, March 2016 - Ideal female body shape, Child daycare shortage, Ban on beards.

After introducing Joe, Kaoru immediately welcomes Dobashi onto the show from the beginning. He then asks listeners to contact the show as always, and says he will send stickers to people who send interesting comments. Kaoru then reads out a message from a fan who says she was very impressed hearing about Joe's interview with Urasawa Naoki, and shares a similar kind of feeling of 'understanding' when she sees Dir play live. She also thinks Kaoru and Joe are good at talking, they are very clear with thier meaning when they talk, and they don't speak pointlessly. Joe feels happy to hear such praise, but Kaoru thinks they do actually say a lot of pointless stuff. He agrees thay they do talk a lot though. Dobashi thinks their off-mic talk is more fun. Kaoru says thier off-mic talk contains a lot of outrageous stuff. Even just before recording the show they were talking about stuff that couldn't ever be broadcast!

Kaoru's first news pick is about the net service 'Superdrug Online Doctors' which gathered data relating to the ideal female body type in 18 different countries around the world.  Looking at the 18 images, Joe suggests they each choose thier fave, starting with him. Joe's favourite is the photo of the ideal female body type from the Ukraine. His reason is that she looks like she has just the right amount of 'meat' on her (i.e. not too thin, not too fat). Dobashi chooses the image from Serbia, because she looks like she has strong thighs. He doesn't like the thighs too big, but if they are too skinny, they don't do it for him. He wonders how they would feel wrapped around him 🤭 As for Kaoru, he feels a bit wierd looking at them, but chooses the image from Spain. He gives no reason for his choice. Joe says it really shows how each country's perception of beauty differs. It reminds him of a joke about a sinking ship with many nationalities on board. The Americans says, 'If we jump now, we'll be heroes!', the Italians say, 'If we jump now, we'll look cool'..etc etc, the Japanese say, 'Lets all jump together', and the Osakans say, 'Hanshin won!'. The point of this being, that standards differ around the world.

Moving on, Dobashi's first news story is that of an anonymous blogger who posted, 'My child didn't get into daycare! Die Japan!'. The post has attracted a lot of attention. It read along the lines of, 'What is going on in Japan? 100 million socially active. I've worked hard, paid my taxes, and my child can't even get a spot in daycare?!'. Many people sympathised with the post. Dobashi points out that although daycare  workers have a very demanding job, thier salary is very low. He says working conditions need to be improved for them, and thier numbers need to be increased. So much money was wasted creating the Olympic logo alone. Why can't they spend that on daycare centers? Kaoru brings up the topic of abuse in aged care home which had been in the news at that time too. He thinks this is also a big problem. He wants to take up these issues and increase awareness. Joe suggests they could make a show dedicated to this and discuss issues facing the listeners. They could really shake up the administration. The atmosphere is very  serious until they break out into laughter after realising how serious they got.

Dobashi's next story is about how two subway drivers are suing Osaka transportation bureau over thier new policy that drivers must shave thier beards. The two drivers in question did not comply, and had thier driver evaluations lowered as a result, which in turn lowered thier bonus payments. The policy was the brainchild of the Mayor of Osaka at the time, Hashimoto, who wanted city employees to engage in proper grooming, so banned beards. The two  employees were of the opinion that having a beard does not imply inadequate grooming, and they decided to sue. Kaoru says  that Hashimoto must think that beards are unhygenic, but he himself does not think this. He says Hashimoto is probably trying get society to fit with his own expectations. Joe says that this issue is at the level of beards now, but if it expands it will get into the territory of other types of discrimination, like racial discrimination etc. He says that what Hashimoto is doing is not right.

Dobashi mentions that it can be seen as smart/cool having a beard, especially in Europe. Its not obscene, says Kaoru, its fine to have one. Dobashi imagines a beard like Dostoevsky's, and Joe thinks the Osaka subway would be cool if the drivers had beards like that. Kaoru wonders whether beards just didn't suit the two drivers in the story. He can understand sports personalities etc not being allowed to grow beards if they have to maintain a certain image for thier sponser, but isn't so sure about forcing regular people. Dobashi feels uneasy about the idea of imposed 'grooming standards'. Joe says these things change so often over time too. Most of Japan's past leaders all had beards. Kaoru comments on beards in Spain, not that he has a thing for Spain though, he insists.

He says these beard rules remind him of school rules. Dobashi says at his high school, they carried out inspections on students' hair. If curls etc were spotted the students were forced to bring in photos of thier hair when they were kids, so that the school could check if it was thier natural hair. Kaoru says his school did this too. He was told his hair looked brown. He actually had dyed it brown though. They then comment on the culture in Japan of making everyone the same, and not letting anyone stand out. Standing out or doing your own thing is seen as a disturbance to the group, whereas overseas this is not always the case.

Kaoru finishes by saying he will give a sticker to the commenter from earlier in the show. He then says he is creating some BGM for this show using his blog by getting subscribers to make recommendations, and he has other plans for the show which he will announce next week. He then plugs his live Dvd and new single.

Noh Mask: Chapter 2

Pairing: Shinsuka (Shinsuke Nakamura x Asuka) Author's Notes: Translations Chotto tetsudatte itadakemasenka? – Can you help me? (If any of these are wrong I greatly apologize and welcome any corrections!) Because I posted that fic preview detailing the first chapter, I thought I would go ahead and post chapter 2 today as well. Enjoy~

Upon returning to the back, she hastily pieced her noh mask back together and sealed it over her face so it could at least last until she left the arena. Only when she was alone would she let the cracks fissure until nothing of her façade remained.

The plan succeeded until it didn't.

"Asuka," called a deep, yet serene voice that could only belong to the one person she'd been able to avoid all night thus far.

She stopped mid-stride on her way to the rental car that she would drive to the hotel to sleep in her room, alone.

She didn't dare turn around to face him. Just remembering how he had seen her weakness at lunch caused the blood to rush into her cheeks all over again.

Almost soundless footsteps approached her from behind, calm and steady, a huge contrast to the frantic drumming of her heart. She felt his warmth at her left shoulder even from the respectable distance he from which he stood.

"Chotto tetsudatte itadakemasenka?" he said.

Momentarily forgetting her embarrassment, Asuka's brain nearly rejoiced at hearing her mother language after so many workdays often needing to wrack her mind looking for correct English before her mouth made a fool of her.

She finally regarded him, taking in his state of appearance. Shinsuke was in his street clothes just as she was, hair pulled back into a ponytail, and he was looking hopelessly between her and his phone.

"What do you need?" she said in Japanese.

Shinsuke chuckled sheepishly and put his phone away into the pocket of his jeans. He explained that his Candy Crush app had struck again, causing his booking app to go haywire. It wouldn't let him book a rental or a hotel for himself.

She crossed her arms, berating him in her thick Osakan accent, "And you've waited this long to do something about it?"

"I got a ride here with Sin Cara," he mumbled, and was that a pout on his face?

"So catch a ride with him."

He sighed dramatically then looked down and to the side, his pout grew more pronounced.

"I didn't want to trouble him twice so I told him to go on ahead."

A momentary hush fell over them then.

Asuka found herself torn between two wishes. Part of her really just wanted to be alone to stew in whatever it was that she was going through. It was how she always got by before, figuring out her own way back to happiness. And yet she had to admit silently to herself that quite a few variables were different this time. She just wasn't sure of the how's and the why's.

The other part of her wanted to carry on talking with Shinsuke like this even if their words were nothing but mere nonsense. At least they could understand each other mostly perfectly (even if on rare occasions her strong accent got in the way with him).

And still, his ability to seemingly read her so easily earlier that day unsettled her greatly.

She was both pulled in and repelled by his presence at the moment.

"I can drive," Shinsuke offered with a bright smile. It was the sort of smile he gave that reached his eyes and crinkled them so endearingly at the edges.

Asuka felt a blush creeping up over her face again, though not out of embarrassment. She wanted to bury her head in the sand so he couldn't see. Unfortunately for her, there was no sand around for at least a couple thousand miles. And it wouldn't be polite for her to turn her fellow countryman away.

Plus, how could one say no to such a face?

Conceding with a curt "Fine" that she hoped belied the affect Shinsuke's smile was having on her, Asuka handed him the keys.

They packed their belongings into the rear seat and trunk then secured themselves in their respective seats in a silence that was neither awkward nor completely comfortable (especially on her part).

Disregarding that they were from the same island country, they had only traveled together by car a handful of times. And all of those times had included a few other passengers. She and Shinsuke usually drove alone when most other wrestlers traveled in pairs or packs, and they roomed alone as well. Asuka did so in order to give herself a necessary break from all the English pounding her skull. As to why Shinsuke chose to do so, she didn't know.

His was a name she was so very familiar with when one brought up wrestling, and yet she still knew very little of the man behind the charisma.

Why was he suddenly seeking her out like this?

She was going to contemplate his motives further when she saw that they had passed the hotel.

"Hey!" She called, face close to the passenger side window as she watched the building zoom by. Outraged, she whipped around as to scold him. "What are you doing?"

"I'm soo hungry," he drawled without shifting his eyes off the road,"and I thought you might be too. I know a nice place."

"I am not hungr—" she started to argue, until her stomach decided to betray her outright with a loud gurgle. Shinsuke laughed at that, leaving her to be the one to pout blushingly.

Damare konoyarou, she silently willed her traitorous stomach.

Shut up, her stomach did not. It only got worse when they pulled up to a small Japanese restaurant called Futago.

"It's small, but the food is very good," Shinsuke reassured, "C'mon, my treat."

The moment they entered the establishment the fragrant smells of spices and cooking meats assaulted her nose in the best kind of way. Her hunger intensified tenfold, her earlier frustration turning to gratefulness to Shinsuke for making the pit stop.

Indeed, the place was small, but the owners and cooks were quaint and were easy to speak to. Then there was the added bonus that the menu contained a few of her favorite dishes.

She dined excitedly on squid and miso soup while Shinsuke ate udon noodles then grilled strips of Kobe beef on the yakiniku grill built into their table. He happily allowed her to steal a few slices from the grill, until it came down to the last succulent bite.

All bets were off then.

They stared each other down, a peculiar electricity arcing between them as one waited for the other to make their move, then in a flurry of limbs two pairs of chopsticks wrestled over the juicy strip of meat. It was a wonder that the poor Kobe didn't go flying.

Of course he was stronger and in spite of the struggle, had the beef nearly to his mouth.

"W-Watashinomono," he grunted from the effort.

"Sō wa omowanai!" she retorted.

Asuka wasn't above cheating at the moment.

All it took was a quick flick of her wrist, causing the slightest shift of the beef away from his lips, and she leaned precariously over the table – the heat of the grill between them a danger that she ignored in the favor of victory (hey, she was flexible!). Her face was scarcely an inch from his and gave her an excellent view of his mouth hanging open as his eyes widened in surprise at her bold action.

Was it her imagination or was there a tinge of pink darkening the tan complexion of his cheeks?

She pondered that all of two seconds then decided that winning the battle of the-last-bite was more important. Taking advantage of his distraction to her sudden proximity, she leaned in the last millimeter to pop the delicious morsel into her mouth.

That was the best bite of all. The look of astonishment on Shinsuke's face was also a nice spoil of war.

She sat back in her seat and cheerfully patted her sated stomach. "Sugoi~" she exclaimed softly.

When she glanced at him again, the look Shinsuke was giving her caused gave her pause. Once again he was studying her intently, but what he was thinking she could not fathom.

"Nani?" she said, sounding more flustered than she wanted.

Her travel partner shook his head slowly, catching the side of his lower lip with his teeth. "That was very unfair," he chastised, something in his tone telling her that he would pay her back for besting him.

Asuka was unsure she wanted to find out how he planned on doing that.

She raised her hand quickly to get the attention of their server.

"Check please!"

I’m sorry to keep you waiting on that but I work on so many different projects that I’m just too busy to get to ask the Osakan. 😭

ATM I startet drawing the first sketches for Heisuke Ep. 4 after I finished the Storyboard and I’ve the motivation to end my long term project „Wedding Bells“ until summer beside those running projects.

As a working mom of two wonderful but sometimes very exhausting kids you can guess that there’s not much free time to fit in everything. 😉

That’s not meant harsh, you’re very right to ask, dear anon, I‘m just bad at explaining myself and my feelings. So I’ll give you an open and detailed view into my life why @osakan-ask-blog takes a minor role in my drawing process atm. So you can understand me better I think.

Time for concentrated working on these projects per day: 3-4 hours.

And you can guess I don’t only use those few hours for drawing. I also watch Series, hang out with my hubby, read a book or manga, work on other illustrations beside DCMK, do some crafts, play video games, fix broken toys..... these days I even have to work until late because of lockdowns causing a closed down daycare. And beside that my kids are bad sleepers atm and get up around 10 pm crying for their mommy. So my time cuts down to 2 hours on those days. 😢

Some years ago I got myself into a kind of „drawing burnout“ and never recovered from it completely. (Even if it doesn’t seem like that I’m struggling a lot sometimes)

I just don’t want to stop drawing from one day to the other again and leave you all with no comment nor content like I did some years ago with my Facebook and deviantart community for years (I’m sorry Facebook and deviantart community lol). Since you’re my beloved DCMK-Community. 💕

I promise there will be new content for the Osakan Ask Blog but you need to be patient. 😄 I want to fit it in inbetween those other works. But lockdown (of daycare too) makes me really exhausted atm. So I use my free time a lot more for just chilling on the couch and watching anime cuddling under a big blanket. lol

Again, that’s not meant to be harsh! I’m really glad someone asked! Since it already gnawed at my conscience that I’m not able to work on it. And you helped me to point it out. Thank you for asking, dear anon! I feel really relieved now that I’ve written it down even if it’s so long and asdffjshsggaj

It’s just... my real life atm. 😊 and i hope everyone understands better, why some of my works need a bit more time.

I’m going to change the pace of Heisukes story in the new year a bit to only two pages per week. I know it was great to have a page every other day but I noticed that below the week most people actually don’t see my posts. So I want to stick to the most active day, Saturday/Sunday night. I’ll start uploading (if it works out as planned) around January 10th.

Since I don’t want to stretch it too much I’ll post a page every Tuesday/Wednesday night as well.

I also want to get back to my ask-blog @osakan-ask-blog and add Heisuke and his sister Yuzuha, perhaps Nozomi (even if she’s no Osakan) as well so you can ask them questions, too. But I’m not sure about it or if I should open a whole new blog for them alone. (Heisuke sure doesn’t want to have his dad around 🤭). Just want to have a place to answer questions on the story and characters and collect them somehow.

Beside that I’m currently sketching out all pages of Episode 3 of Heisuke and am thrilled to see your reactions to it!

Aaaaaand I’m trying to work on my drawing skills. I’m feeling a bit frustrated lately. (On my skills, not on my ideas) hopefully it will turn out well even if it means a tiny style change. Only mouth-wise. I’m mostly trying to get better at drawing mouths 😂 jeez...

So, everyone did notice I like those two Osakan Highschoolers a lot.

I like drawing comic strips a lot.

And I like ask-blogs a lot. (Maybe you didn’t know this till now 😂)

So I thought about doing an Osakan-Ask-Blog. Since the answers will be shortstrips they’re take some time 😉

Perhaps someone is interested?
