my first fanbinding project is finally complete!!! it was an enormous learning experience and it's far from perfect, but i'm so proud of how it turned out ☺️

the fic i chose is the phenomenal Why the Sun Sets Red by Perosha, which quite frankly changed my life when i read it. the moment i decided to get into binding, i knew this was the story i wanted to work with. if you love 358/2 days as much as i do, then i can't recommend it enough.

Lone Star Ornaments (Non-cross stitch edition)

In addition to my cross stitch ornaments, I made 8 other ornaments for my Lone Star Christmas tree.

First, I had to be sure to get the logo in there somewhere.

These two were made with this process, and I really love how they turned out. In fact, I loved it so much that I think I might make a couple more in different colors as gifts. The only thing the instructions didn't mention was the fact that the inside of the ornaments took about 3-4 days to completely dry.

Here's front and back of my fairly simple 126 ornament.

For this one, I took a blank ceramic ornament, painted each side a different color, stuck on a sticker from @reyeslonestar (can be purchased here) on either side and then added some glitter paint over top.

For these two, I got some plywood rectangles, used a hammer and nail to punch holes for the hanger, painted the rectangles, stuck on stickers from @thebumblecee (can be purchased here), and applied a good amount of glitter paint to the backs and a little to the fronts.

Finally, I had to find a way to include this Marjan quote—I really want to get it into a cross stitch project at some point too—and it felt right to pair it with paint, glitter and sequins.

i walked through downtown and all the trick or treaters were actually so cute and charming and there were way more people under the age of 55 than i knew lived in this town and so many of them had such banger costumes. warmed my cold crotchety heart....🎃🎃🎃🎃

my usual style for omen is a lot of dark and metallic colours, so I've been trying to emphasize either wooden vibes (because tree of silver wings) or starker whites just as a change

I do really enjoy the contrast of bright white and then giant ragged patch. extremely what all of xyr clothes look like by now

it's 00:41 here btw, a christmassy night, i planned earlier today to open my christmas tree's wishes but i've none energy left to do this so guess i will leave this for tomorrow, so i can fully enjoy reading the wishes without feeling overwhelmed. For everyone who have sent me ornaments on my Christmas tree, i want to thank all of you alots for making my Christmas. I didn't even open any of the ornaments yet but knowing that alots of you have sent me those is enough to warm my cold heart on this winter day, i just appreciate it all alots. Got about half the ornaments off the tree and packed up. I had to stop because I ran out of paper to wrap them in; I've ordered more so I'll continue on Friday. And since everything else in the living room is dependent on the tree coming down, I went out and worked in the yard for a bit. Moved the old barbecue away from the wall in case my partner wants to clean it up (if it can be salvaged); if not I'll find a way to recycle it. Moved some plant pots around. Composted some struggling plants. I did not make the yard better, and in fact seemed to make it worse.
