WHOLE CHARACTER POST FOR -> HITOTSUME-SAMA BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT HIM!!!! Yes. THIS GUY from Eve's Music Videos
DISCLAIMER: I have not touched Kara No Kioku or HTEL Novel in. so so so long. for that reason. if I got anything wrong you can bash my head with a rear end of gun
Let's start..!!!!
▪ What is Hitotsume? Or what IS he? (INTRODUCTION) For those who don't follow Eve's lore, Hitotsume is what they call a "Zingai" in that universe, a made-up term for supernatural entities
Every odd creatures you see in his music videos? Yep! those are zingais! (Though some even resemble humans). More often than not: the MCs have a zingai(s) partner of their own. These zingais are a living representation of their human's heart.
...BUT! not all zingais are paired to a human, Mr. Hitotsume himself- despite debuting his first appearance along with a human (named: Bun-chan) Not only is seen roaming around independently, he also has involved himself in stories without Bun around! It's ambiguous whether he's Bun's zingai or not

That brings us to the next part!
▪ Why does he look like that?
Peculiar isn't it? A cyclops donning a top hat! A Simple yet distinct design, so much so that you can simplify him to his most prominent features and it'll still be recognizable! Which is a wonderful thing when it comes to putting him in various styles
List of MVs Hito have appeared in! Gaze at his different Flavors!
In an interview with Eve, Hito is based off the reoccurring nightmares he had back in his childhood. Where a lanky yet towering figure would watch him from the hallways...
At the time of making Literary Nonsense, Eve sent Mah (The animator in charge of the MV) a character from a horror movie he watched, one that looked exactly like the eerie being from his dreams. Using it as a reference, Hitotsume-Sama was born...
2 Meters Tall...
This is the Interview [here] If you want to give it a read!
▪ Ok... What about his role? well dear readers....................... as these are music videos it's-- ...up to interpretation. Okay pack it up now go home! go watch the MV! One thing I've noticed. in the two videos he have a very major role in (Literary Nonsense & Bouto) Hito seems to be a reflection of the MC's internal struggles (?)although, is put into a position that opposes them(?). Regardless, it's interesting that his presence gave them the push to face and manage their problem.
When he's not performing on the main stage, the odd guy is often spotted lurking in the background of many MVs. Giving off the message that he's some kind of observer (Especially because of the one-eye aspect)
In the manga "Kara No Kioku", Hitotsume is an important character to look out for! being responsible as to why the set of events happened in the first place ...unfortunately, He has only been shown in first chapter and have not been mentioned again up until the making of this post

All in all, Hitotsume remains as character who's intentions are never clear, he's neither good or bad
▪ What is this character like then? As what I mentioned previously, he can be quite scary as a concept yes?... A silhouette of a tall hatted man, where once you look closely ...bare less and less human. A sort of onlooker with a strong presence, how long has he been staring?
Then he starts dancing... cutely! (As Eve described it) perhaps he isn't so frightening! And seems to be mostly enjoying to himself too, smiling and all. Funny little gestures he loves to do.
Suddenly he's not too out of this world, perhaps a friend? Yet, that brief comfort in his display of familiarity is quickly pulled away as Hito here, is prone to putting his damn eye close to the screen ◎ He too, has a knack on pulling off morbid tricks!

No bun-chans were harmed in the making of this post
The idea here is that Hitotsume is unpredictable, a comically chaotic yet elegant individual who's true frightening point is his hard to read mind (therefore, actions as well) Ala Fear of the Unknown. Not his appearance as everyone's first impression to be (it's important to note that Hito has never intentionally made himself seen intimidating, but it's not far off to say he's aware that his entire being frightens people)
Other things worth mentioning:
Hito's refined outfit is not for naught! Truly possessing a gentleman disposition. This is the one thing that stays consistent through all the depictions of him by different artists
-Talking about clothes! Even if it was for Funsies, having been drawn in various outfits means Hitotsume has a wardrobe (Which is (currently) an uncommon thing we see with zingais) He IS fashionable

The Movie "Adam by Eve" is evidence that Hitotsume meddles in the daily life of humans, even outside introduced characters. It is unknown whether: 1. He gives Strange Dreams 2. He enters an existing dream and manipulate it to his liking 3. it's both? And for what reason? but it sounds like what a mischievous ghost would do for a living! And zingais are quite similar to yokais after all
The most important point: He can be a BIG Goofball

And you think this is the end..? NO! We have yet to explore the surprise turn of characterization in the Bouto MV.!!!!!!

Ah.... Bouto...... BOUTO.
I have. A Hate and Like relationship with this MV... (While I get the message behind it and I'm glad that it's brought up. The execution of the meaning could've been better portrayed... and I'm dearly upset that Hito was chosen to represent it 🥀 (I don't think Mah would ever depict Hito like that either) some of the sexual undertone and certain shots was just unnecessary too. The animator's work is known for something like that which is why we end up with this) I've ranted ENOUGH, I'll have to restrain myself to continue
Aside from the high quality animation, our otherworldly gentleman Hitotsume-sama had become a parental figure for the starring protagonist "Eva"! A (presumably) non-binary teen who struggles under society's oppressive norms.
(A Family of three: an eldritch, a gamer, and a cat? Eve... you could really make a series out of that idea)
He is, by all means, NOT a good parent. Stupidly strict and controlling. Not even feeding that child well! Giving them one singular apple for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 💢
your ASS is not cooking so why are you wearing that cute yellow apron anyway!?
...Well. The apple is a symbolism and not meant to be taken literally (Considering the themes of Adam, Eve, and The Serpent thorough the MV) Yet I still can't help but see it as Hitotsume having limited knowledge when it comes to taking care of humans, being a zingai and all
Both cat and kid Dislikes Hitotsume (The former getting into a tussle with him every so often) This is also the first time someone is shown to be angry at him! He reacted by standing there like a moron... Flinching at the sight of Eva kicking at the wall
After the whole erm. sequence. Eva is given a chance to rebel, with weapon in both hands- What was Hitotsume's first respond?
Fear
The one who have to look down to gaze at people, the one who control the situation by merely stepping in, the one who is feared by others.... When that foreignness comes in the form of someone running at him, body wrecked with righteous Fury ....His pupil shrank, and in his fright: Hito ran away from the teen as they chase him down
Of course he tried to fight back, pulling out two weirdly shaped guns that shoot out explosive apples (He never stopped being comical). Unfortunately, having one eye means you'd lack depth perception- He was horrible at aiming! whilst his attempts at bombarding Eva with multiple explosives was shouting just How panicked he is
"Hitotsume-sama" who was off-puttingly mysterious before the arrival of this MV, is now seen being utterly pathetic, visibly cowering and tearing up

Defeated, he reluctantly let go of Eva and the world goes back to normal..
In spite of my sourness at the MV, it had nonetheless revealed a lot of things about Hito. Sometimes.. Your weird cryptid neighbor is really just a Guy
One last note before I wrap it up From observation, Hitotsume's behavior seems to follow the environment he's in (kinda akin to No-Face from spirited away). While it can be said it's just the artist's interpretation of him + subconsciously adapting him to the MV's vibes, it helps knowing that However you see this guy, it's probably something within his range of zingai complexity !
----
And that's about it! I could.. technically ramble MORE... but that's entering headcanons territory and will make this post x2 times longer than it should be (and I hit the maximum images a tumblr post can have) 😿 Thank you for reading!!! !!!!

Lightning Nights and Golden Days
My entry for Solar Embrace vol. 6!! Thank you to everyone at @d2artevents for hosting this zine and letting me be a part of it again. It's always a point of summer I look forward to <3
You can read this story on Ao3, or in the zine pdf!
Afternoon mists hung low on the horizon. The sky was a reddish hue, contrasting nicely with the black sandy beach they had moored the ship at, and the ocean murmured calmly underneath. Aurash and Sathona sat on the stern, with their feet above the water. Aurash was trying to fish. It did not appear to be a particularly fruitful endeavour, considering she lacked a fishing rod and had to clutch the line in her hands, but she looked very determined. Sathona was watching her with one-and-a-half eye, devoting the rest to observing her other sister frolicking on the beach.
Xi Ro was playing ‘catch the wave’, a game whose entire point was not getting caught by the wave. She ran towards the ocean, chasing the ebb, and then jumped away before the returning tide could reach her. When she wasn’t fast enough and the foamy water sprinkled her feet, it left shallow little burn holes in her chitin. Sathona had the fleeting thought of telling her to try not to kill herself, but decided it would only have the opposite effect, if any. Xi Ro wasn’t even half as resistant to acid damage as she was to common sense. She would likely treat that as a challenge and hurl herself sword-first into the waves to cut down imagined foes. It was remarkable, truly, how the same krill could successfully resist the tickling glee of a stormjoy.
She could hardly blame her for her good humour, though. The afternoon was lovely, the first peaceful one after three days of storms. They had been stuck below deck for most of that time, going mad with fear and cabin fever, and it felt rejuvenating to finally step out into daylight and fresh air. Even if ‘fresh air’ in this case meant the stench of fish and wet sand licked by acid waves.
“I hope the mists clear soon. I’ll need the sky to set the course.” Aurash adjusted her grip on the fishing line. “But it’s nice here, don’t you think? We could stay for a day or two, if the waters are calm.”
Sathona said nothing. She only looked at the ocean, this tremendous, turbulent plane, and counted continents in her head. How long had they been at sea—weeks, months? Aurash alone could tell the passage of time by the stars. But they had sailed by many lands already, even if their movements on errant tides made it a fickle unit of measure: the Star-Surgery and its twirled spires, the Niobium Plateau enshrouded in machine-fog, the Oganesson Archipelago where a terrible storm had caught them and nearly tore their sail. Never in her two-year-and-however-many-months long lifespan had she dreamed she would see what lay beyond the horizon. And so much more yet! The furious beasts of sea and sky, the play of moonlight on the waves, the delirious laughter that comes after a near-death experience; Aurash’s stories and Xi Ro’s songs, acrid wind before a storm, breakfast on deck under a yellow morning sky.
These were the happiest times of her life.
But they had been voyaging for so long already. She could see the weariness in Aurash’s eyes. She could taste Xi Ro’s restless anticipation as she yearned for revenge, to return home and send the Helium usurpers and the Traitor Mother under the frothing ocean waves. This island appeared habitable, as much as anything on Fundament ever was; docking here for a few days and resupplying, drawing a better map, making some sort of plan—it seemed reasonable. The Kaharn Atoll was a long way off, but still within sailing distance. They could disappear in its crowds with ease, lay low for a while, and devise the vengeance they had sworn.
And yet…
And yet the worm urged her forward. Sathona had left it below deck, in the cabin they slept in, but she could still hear its whisper in her mind. You cannot stay here. You have to sail on, ever forward, ever deeper, lest you be chased and caught and destroyed. Down, o vengeance mine, down.
She couldn’t tell if Taox even bothered hunting them. Knowing her, she probably didn’t. She’d likely resolved they would die at sea sooner or later, and the problem would resolve itself. Foolish—and somewhat insulting—but that gave them an advantage. They could yet make it to Kaharn, sell the ship and hire mercenaries…
Or you could dive.
Sathona shivered. She didn’t know why she suddenly felt cold.
“You look worried, my sister.” Aurash nudged her with a shoulder. “Are you alright?”
How can I not be worried? Sathona thought. When Taox might still be out to get us, and we are so far away from home, and these past months have fallen away from us like shed chitin? We are nowhere near a solution, and we are only getting older, and I am afraid, afraid we will die out here.
“I am tired,” she said, and huddled closer. Aurash’s arm wound around her.
She lay her head on her sister’s shoulder and covered her other hand with hers. The sudden fear was paralysing her like medusa venom, but looking out to the shore—seeing Xi Ro swat at the waves with her sword, feeling Aurash’s muscles tense as she held the line firmly—a gust of calmness wafted over her.
She wasn’t safe. She was weary, and afraid, and she was possibly never coming home.
But she wasn’t alone.

nice pair of characters who trust each other more than anyone else in the whole entire world it would sure be a shame if one of them betrayed that trust for the sake of trying to keep the other alive. it would sure be a shame to love someone so much you destroy them

So Bluesky's administrative and executive team have been watching the backlash to Itch, Steam, Visa, KOSA, and the UK safety act. And they have decided...
To become censors too!
They're "asking for feedback" on the change. You and I are all expecting the "feedback" to be thrown into a garbage disposal and ignored. However, I do want them to at least have to put in some effort to get rid of it all. Clog them up for a while.
With that in mind, here's their "feedback form"
And here's a side-by-side comparison of the old guidelines and the new ones: https://diffcheck.io/diff/y-fEdThkNh0L4gEkP7
Beneath the readmore you'll find the answers I and @arionwind gave, in case you want to use them as a jumping off point.
General concerns:
My main concern is: this extremely vague, inappropriate document can fundamentally not be used as a moderation guideline. Meaning you are either giving your moderators secret guidelines that users are being kept away from in an attempt to ban-bait us, or more likely, you aren't training your moderation team at all. Instead, you are likely relying on a "sniff test" methodology that will inevitably single out non-white and non-Straight content as "worse". Nothing about these guidelines is "clearly communicated."
Clear communication does not mean using informal and simplistic language: it means COMMUNICATING YOUR MODERATION STANDARDS TO YOUR USER BASE. This document does nothing of the sort.
Not only are the new guidelines unclear, but they appear tailored to fall in line with the unacceptable barring of legal-but-uncomfortable art on multiple other platforms. After seeing the broad outpouring of support for impacted communities, who on your executive team thought it would be a good idea to come out swinging on the side of censorship, against the broad opinion of your very vocal userbase?
Specific Removals:
1.B. - How can you reconcile this provision against discrimination with the fact that many of the exact phrasings cited later are used almost exclusively on other sites to ban legal and even fully chaste queer content? Do you expect your userbase to "just trust you, bro" while you behave indistinguishably from bigoted right wing organizations?
2.C.ii.a - What the ever loving fuck is "glorifying harm"? It is not defined anywhere in your document. Is any depiction, even wholly fictional "glorifying" harm? Is it acceptable if the one who inflicts it is clearly presented as a villain? Is The Empire Strikes Back "glorifying harm" by depicting an incestuous kiss between siblings that neither ever comes to regret or get punished for? If you can't actually tell your userbase what you are forbidding, workshop the language until it is clear instead of being a vague and cowardly attempt to encourage users to self-censor so that you don't need to moderate content.
2-iii: I am constantly and wrongfully accused of "sexualizing minors" because I enjoy art featuring fictional species such as elves and gnomes who tend to have short or slender proportions. Will there be anything done to delineate fictional and fantasy content from real-world violence? Or will you be wasting company time and moderation resources on making your mod team sift through endless images of cartoon characters having sex, looking for the "child endangerment" hidden therein?
5.A.ii.a - for some reason clearly fictional depictions that harm no one and are fully legal under US law are allowed. Why are you refusing to allow basic freedom of expression that has in the past month inspired such backlash across nations and multiple websites and payment processors?
5.A.ii.b - Where does furry art fall under this provision? Is a human with cat ears "bestiality" as some other sites with similar provisions claim? Is art of full furries kissing forbidden? Are we no longer allowed to write about werewolves as lovers? If you can't be bothered to define terms when banning legal content, at least have the courtesy to admit you are making a list of schoolchild rules. Instead, you have drafted a pseudo-legalistic document with none of the protections and restrictions of clear and defined legal language.
5.B.i.1 - Adults frequently consent to activities that can appear nonconsensual when first witnessed. What protections are in place for such activities being erroneously flagged? Or would such moderation decisions not be flagged in error, because you are trying to ban consensual behaviours that make you uncomfortable? This policy, like so many others, is unclear and overly restrictive to otherwise safe, healthy, and legal behaviours.
5.B.ii.2 - Every child-safety and mental health organization that isn't funded by fundamentalist religious organizations agrees that the ability to share and engage with fictional depictions of sensitive topics like CSA as both a recovery tool for survivors, and a preventative aid for stopping future harms. Why bother to let us share educational materials if you intend to forbid all the basic steps for safety they advocate?
5.B.ii.3 - Relatedly, how can you expect to allow for a safe place for survivors to share resources when you are banning huge swathes of clinically accepted material that helps survivors?
5-i-a: what constitutes "dangerous behaviour?" Are you my mother? My court-ordered guardian? What gives you the right to determine what an independent adult considers "dangerous behaviour"? What gives you the right to decide that without even telling the user what your judgement rationale will be? Is being gay "dangerous behaviour" because you're more likely to be murdered? Or is it only dangerous when an untrained moderator thinks it's personally unpleasant?
Specific Additions:
2-c-i-a: "factual reporting" and "academic research" as fact-checked or academically reviewed by whom? Untrained moderators again? An LLM? No one at all but we should totally just trust you? This will not protect anyone from harm at the hands of extremist groups using academic language to encourage harm, but it will certainly prevent marginalized groups from reporting harassment and abuse couched in these unsubstantiated terms.
Final concerns:
Will you be training your moderators, and to what standards? This is a very simple question, that your document and team have consistently failed to answer.
Closing comments:
Listen, I know you as the person stuck reading these comments are having a really shitty week. I just want you to know that this isn't your fault; your bosses are cowardly assholes for putting you in this position. I hope that you have a comfortable day once you get out of the work-mandated torture chamber.
