Hmm so I just learned about the whole Orion Experience/Orion Simprini shitshow, and I'm like hella grossed out, I don't think I can listen to any of their songs anymore. Which sucks bc like, their songs were so good and there's so few bands that I actually ever listen to bc I'm not super into music.

Like I love that they included be gay do crime in a song lyric, and "let's get mischievous- and polyamorous" is a banger of a line. Not to mention the fantastic album art. But it's all totally ruined by the fact that they also have stuff like "so young and innocent" in their songs which already felt questionable and now just feels nauseating with the context of the fucked up shit they've done.

So like I don't usually ask for music recs but does anyone have any good recommendations for stuff that's similar to them? Or maybe some good covers of their Albums, preferably that have those gross little tidbits removed or replaced by something nicer? (Like it wouldn't take much to make their songs a lot better by like flipping things like "You're young and beautiful" to "*We're* young and beautiful".) Or like actually even just a cover of the Cult of Dionysus with fem vocals would be amazing.

Or actually even just really queer music in general. I like TOE for just sorta the unabashedly queer vibes they got, and like I'm kinda shit at finding music so I don't know a whole lot of bands that are like that.

The last dream I remember having was horrid.

I guess my unconscious brain thought John Flansburgh and Orion Simprini were the same person or at least looked similar.

For those who are unaware, Orion Simprini is the main vocalist of The Orion Experience, and is a groomer. It wasn't just one person either.

This is Orion Simprini. To be fair she looks like the John Flansburgh/Morgan Wallen love child. Anyway, yeah. They don't look EERIELY similar, but it is sad that my sub-conscious literally decided they're one person. Anyway yeah dreams are fucking stupid.

A follow up on my Orion Experience post

There are at least 20 victims, if not more.

A good majority of Orion Experience songs, including Cult of Dionysus (I'd argue their most popular song), are about the victims in not even subtle ways.

And, did I mention? The youngest victim so far was nine years old.

Once again, for more information go see @project.artemis on Tiktok, they have everything you need to get up to date on the situation.

They, themself, are a victim of Simprini and are very brave for coming out about it and spreading the messages of his other victims as well.

It's highly disappointing if you still listen to Orion Experience after learning all of this, there's no separating the art from the artist here.

Especially when the art is about the wrongdoings of the artist.

it seems like this whole issue is getting buried, hell, i didn’t hear about it until about 5 months after, so im reblogging this. people need to know this because orion has tried his best to make his fandom and music seem like a safe space for young people, which is so dangerous, and i was one of the people who fell for it. she interacts with everyone in her youtube comments, and i in particular had a high number of hearted comments and replies from him. I INTERACTED WITH THIS PERSON BECAUSE SHE MADE ME FEEL SAFE IN A VERY VULNERABLE TIME IN MY LIFE. THAT IS SO DANGEROUS IN THE HANDS OF A GROOMER. if i had had any other social media besides a faceless youtube account, i know this would have been me.

i just finished dming with one of his victims and he gave me permission to share this story on Tumblr where more people will see it.

Orion deleted the band’s tiktok account, privated her own videos, and removed and limited comments on her instagram, but there is plenty of proof and orion herself has acknowledged the abuse.

She had sexual conversations (that included photos from the victim) with a 14 year old who she thought was 18/19 years old. Orion is 48 years old. There are more victims who have not spoken out yet.

Here are some screenshots (found from the victim’s account, @noloveinfebruary, and another victim’s account, @endtheorionexperience. I won’t post the more explicit screenshots here because honestly, they even make me sick, but you can find them on both accounts. There are screenshots of Orion’s admission, but Orion has since deleted those comments. I highly recommend anyone who sees this post goes through both accounts on tiktok if they are able to stomach it. more updates are pending, but we know for sure that orion himself has acknowledged this and his only defense is that “he said he was 18” though she allegedly has done this with multiple minors who have not shared their stories yet- also, the victim shared photos with orion that should have clued him in to his age.)

Why are so many ppl in your Spotify playlists so problematic? Like, Gorillaz hired someone who did blackface to voice one of their characters and did NFTs, Joe Hawley (who wrote the Mind Electric) and Orion Simprini (the Orion Experience) are both groomers, and Evelyn Evelyn is a very ableist and pedophelic band who’s creator, Amanda Palmer, is a racist (she, a white woman, wrote and sang a song featuring the n word) who’s made jokes about both r*pe and pedophilia, wrote a transphobic song, and faked her own suicide to convince her partner to stop doing drugs (she also filmed it and used the audio in one of her songs). I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn’t know these things before adding the songs to your playlists, but I strongly suggest looking into these things.

Okay so I didn’t know about any of this so thanks for telling me but I think it’s also a little unrealistic to expect everyone to know everything about the writer of every song they come across

From what I've seen, the lead singer of T.O.E, Orion Simprini, has allegations of grooming several minors. He said at least one lied about their age to him in his apology, and the whole situation doesn't feel super comfy to me. No hard feelings to you for requesting, of course!!

I never know how to word this but when i was still a minor i narrowly avoided potentially being one of orion simprinis victims on tiktok
