It’s not easy being friends with the best hero in the city, if not the world. Don’t get her wrong, Hayden loves Dan. The hero’s basically a giant golden retriever. It’s the villains constantly trying to use her as leverage that she’s not too fond of.

Adrian hasn’t been a hero for very long. It’s only been about a year and she’s already starting to take on more serious threats. Right before she’s about to move in at college, she gains her first ever villain, a man who can control storms named Hurricane. Then, as college starts up, she starts to fall for one of her classmates, a guy named Marcus. But how can she keep her hero life a secret from Marcus? And how will she react when she finds out that Marcus has a secret of his own?

Thalia

Story: The Curious Case of the Sapphire Spirit

Bio:

Thalia couldn’t care less about her murder. The guy failed and she got some cool powers out of her new half dead state. What she does care about is that the guy did succeed in killing her sister. So, what else is Thalia supposed to do other than become a vigilante and bring her sister’s killer to justice? Luckily, her new roommate is a journalistic major. Maybe she can help.

Author/Artist Commentary:

Hayden’s story was made to answer one question I had during middle school, “What if a Superman story focused on Lois Lane?”

Adrian’s story is a silly romance between two oblivious rivals.

And Thalia’s story is three for three on the “used to be from another fandom” character. But she is also a “used to be a shitty self insert” character. So I took this Danny Phantom knock off, made her a theatre kid, nerfed her power set, and put her in college with a podcaster obsessed with cryptids.

While these three don’t share a story, I image they exist in the same universe and are friends.

But that’s it! The last of the characters done! There’s only thing left to do.

Here's the third member of Doc's team, a Magnolian from a distant forest, Mivia. Unlike the other Magnolian characters I've introduced, Mivia is not from Midham Grove, but another forest called Coloyonne Woods, making her a cousin of the Magnolians I previously introduced, and the only one coming from that forest.

Eight years ago, her home forest was attacked by a cult of people in black cloaks, those who followed and served a witch called Lady Zaleria, raiding several places to steal artifacts, destroy villages and kill people, for empowering that witch with souls and the magic coming from the artifacts that she could absorb. Coloyonne Woods was one of the places the Cult of Zaleria invaded, killing every single Magnolian who lived in that forest, even overpowering their alpha and killing her as well, unintentionally leaving Mivia as the last survivor, who woke up from her underground house, only to find out her home forest on fire, with some of the cultists who noticed her. Panicked, she ran away before the fire or those cultists did anything to her, even while she had her own Water Amulet.

From all those days running away and looking for safety, all by her own, she eventually stopped obeying her late Alpha's orders of not killing any living being, then started to use her water magic in self-defense, to kill anyone who tries to do the same thing to her. After those eight years, she had learned deadly skills with her Water Amulet (such as using its water pressure to swiftly cut through things like blades), no longer speaks like how a Magnolian should and instead speaks like an average person does (including slangs and some profanities) and during one of the fights, she lost one of her fangs. Later on, she was found by Doc, who provided her food and shelter, letting her join his team afterwards.

However, despite being a skilled fighter and having a good life and some friends who feel like a new family thanks to Doc, the memories of her past still haunt her. Doc then found out she has depression, then made sure he took good care of her and helped her whenever she had a mental breakdown. Whenever she meets a stranger, she may get aggressive if touched by anyone without getting warmed up to them or getting some chocolate to eat which is what makes her calm and happy.

When Emily and her team got to meet Doc, in her quest to wipe Zaleria out of Alterra, Tracy got to meet Mivia, then after understanding each other and telling about their pasts to one another, they became good friends, helping one another during some dark times.

wait wait wait reading back over what I just said

My abalone butterfly necklace, that I mentioned in that last ask answer, is special to me for a lot of reasons. Outside of a selfshipping perspective, I'm pretty sure I bought it on the same holiday where I last saw my brother in-person, which was almost four and a half years ago now. The necklace itself makes me think of lovely warm summer days where I get to wear cute comfortable clothes, because that's what things were like on the day that I bought it!

However, from a selfshipping perspective, I've associated this necklace with Pyra for a while because its colour is similar to the colour of her Core Crystal while its shape resembles the X-shaped central piece that is missing from that Core Crystal. It makes me think of, like, an AU where I'm (or, rather, Sapphire is) her Driver instead of Rex or something. I do have one of those, actually, as well as a more fully-fledged swap AU where Sapphire is the Aegis Blade and Pyra is her Driver instead.

Additionally, though, it's also started reminding me of Clio! Specifically, this time it's for its resemblance to a real-life species of butterfly, the Queen Alexandra's birdwing. This is the largest species of butterfly in the world, and it has very similar colours of iridescence to my abalone butterfly!

See, here's a comparison! ..To the Animal Crossing version, specifically, since a) that's where I know the butterfly itself from and b) it means I'm avoiding posting any real-life bug pictures here that I understand people may wish to avoid.

Not too far off, right?

(It's perhaps worth noting that only the males of the real-life species actually have this iridescence pattern; females are more orange instead. So, in other words, trans Clio is canon now.)
