The whole crew was enjoying their cake, with the exception of Zoro who simply drank whatever alcohol there was by the barrel with the complaint that he hated sweets. After gobbling up a few slices for himself, Chopper’s eyes narrowed a bit at the lemur. The rest of the crew was busy watching as Luffy ran around with chopsticks shoved up his nose.

"Hmm? What happens when your friends come to our world looking for you anyway? Are you just gonna be here temporarily?" Chopper asked with a raised brow. They'd rarely had temporary crew members, but saying goodbye never meant their friendship was truly over.

Chopper grabbed Amy's hand and simply began to lead her toward the cabin of the ship where the kitchen was. "Well, if you just want a drink, I can get you some awesome juice!" It seemed he caught on to her nervousness and opted to take Amy with him so she could collect her thoughts. Entering the kitchen, Chopper noticed Sanji was already there. To Amy, a 5'11" blond man with long legs, a swirly eyebrow, and formal attire was likely less intimidating than a woman who could grow extra limbs.

"Chopper? Who the heck is this? Ah! Is she a mink?" The man seemed to have been just as caught off guard as Robin was by the inclusion of a new guest.

"Oh my. Was I perhaps too forward?" Robin couldn't resist a small chuckle escaping her as the small hedgehog girl reacted with confusion and concern to her powers. She didn't expect that a person so familiar with Chopper would be unfamiliar with her to this extent. It was somewhat refreshing.

"Ah, don't worry! That's just Robin's devil fruit!" Chopper assured Amy with a sheepish smile, worried that his friend might be freaking her out. "Ah! Are you hungry? I can get our chef to make you something yummy!"

Your Sky (Sun iQIYI) ep 5 of 12 - OMG they’re so fucking cute I can’t stand it. It’s too much. Everyone is adorable. Including the father. (That said, I wouldn’t recommend watching Naughty Babe with your dad. That’s a big leap there, cutie pie.) The 10 minutes of holding hand negotiation and then finally walking together across campus was truly fucking fantastic. This show is GLORIOUS. Now we also know when it finally does move from dreams to reality, that these two can kiss.

Love Sick 2024 (Sun iQIYI) ep 14 of 15 - They substantially took steps to fix Phun‘s dad character in the new version and I really like that a lot. I'm chronicling my experience with 2024 as compared to 2014 here. 

Caged Again (Fri Gaga) ep 7 of 10 - Why is this absurd show so damn good? When Sun has to beg it’s just too much. It’s too sweet and aching and hurtful and wonderful. Catnip = the sex herb trope was not anything I’ve ever thought I would see in my lifetime. Okaaay now. Relax little show. Too far.

Fourever You (Thurs YT) ep 12 of 16 - The extended version is clearly better. But I’m not gonna bother to pay for it. Again, I’m liking the new couple more and more each week. I still prefer the first couple of course cause Pond but it’s enjoyable enough.

The Heart Killers (Weds Gaga) ep 4 of 12 - this show is so entirely and utterly ridiculous. I don’t even know what to do with it or myself. Or what to say. Carry on, I guess?

Also I don't know what GMMTV is smoking to tease this one, but I'll take a hit next time they pass the BL bong.

Perfect 10 Liners (Sun YT?) ep 7 of 24 - I am living for Pond & Sand. they are pretty much all I care about. Yes including the upcoming couples. I just want pond sand. sure the main couple was fine it was a perfectly serviceable ending to their arc such as it was. All in all I enjoyed this episode big smile on my face most of the time.

Secret Love (????) 1-60 of 81 eps - Someone dropped a cut together of episodes one through 60, and I actually quite enjoyed it. It’s a total soap opera and very much a pulp. But I kind of love that right now. Frankly, 1-60 is a completed story arc. If you want that. I will probably watch the whole thing if anybody ever uploads it or it turns up grey anywhere. But this was quite satisfying. Ridiculous but charming fluff about two stepbrothers, who aren’t really stepbrothers, who have loved each other forever and are reunited under trying family circumstances. 7/10 passes the sniff test

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Our Youth AKA Miseinen: Mijukuna Oretachi wa Bukiyo ni Shinkochu (Japan Tues Gaga) ep 7 of 11 - ARGH. The pain. what an absolutely stellar show. I can't believe we are only on ep 7!

See Your Love (Taiwan Weds Gaga) ep 9 of 13 - I love it. This show is fantastic. It’s classic BL, it’s hitting all of the tropes, and it reminds me of some of the best that Taiwan has done in the past. I’m charmed and enjoying it immensely. Taiwan isn’t great on endings so I’m reserving judgment, but what a current highlight to my week. I like these boys so much. Please be kind to me and them, Taiwan?

Eternal Butler (Taiwan Fri Gaga) eps 1-2 of 12 - Ever 4, a sophisticated AI combat robot, becomes the personal butler/bodyguard to Luo Bu Shi, a spoiled yet lonely young heir. And I like it a lot. Odd with a very old fashioned yaoi feel. Also actually kinky (not Thai kinky), I mean it's no JBL but I like it. Dommed into reading = hot. 

Teenager Judge (Vietnam Sat YT) ep 12 of ? - I love our new rescuer, he v cute! Nice addition to the cast. I hope we get more of him. Otherwise, this was more of the same. I’m getting pretty fatigued with this bully stuff at this juncture.

Love in the Air: Koi no Yokan (Japan Sat Gaga) ep 8 end - A lackluster adaptation of some already questionable content, that managed to lose all the limited charm and massive chemistry of the original. It was a mistake to do with less runtime not to mention put both climaxes in the final episode.  Too much all at once. By dividing up the two rescues and keeping them exclusive to their respective couples they highlighted the formulaic nature of the narrative and weakened the foundational friendships. The best thing about the original was the friendships both between the semes and the ukes. By having each boyfriend simply rescue his own boy without help, we didn’t get to see the depth of those friendships at all. For this reason, this installment was weaker than the original. My final feeling at the end was simply “OK whatever” not a ringing endorsement. 7/10 but barely that.

It's airing but......

Spare Me Your Mercy (Thurs iQIYI) ep 5 of 8 - on hold because it went out side genre conventions and I'm not sure what to expect. I'm waiting until it ends, then if safe I will binge.

Be Moon - Falling for my enemy's son (China YT) movie from HBD Studio airing in short bits but I couldn't find any this week.

Winter Is Not The Death of Summer (Thai ???) - has been picked up to air on WeTV, or something? Criminals who meet in prison fall in love. I did find it on YouTube, initially un-subbed, then subs happened by which time I got distracted. The first episode seems to be only six minutes long. It is very pulp. But it is intriguing. For now it's to the wayside until someone tells me it landed safely. Occasionally Thai pulps want to be edgy and it's not a good look on them.

0.5D (Japan ????) 4 eps - Supposedly a completed short. "Sales ace, Sada, has a secret that only his junior, Daiki, knows. He has pretended to have a gf for years, resulting in him being a virgin. But now Sada has fallen in love. Confused, Sada seeks advice from his junior." I sense another queer Cyrano De Bergerac. I can't find and it's good very poor review so Imma stop looking. Info here.

The Renovation (Thai mini One31) 2 eps - Writer turns his blossoming romance with holiday resort owner into a novel. Eh is it worth trying to find?

Blue Canvas of Youthful Days (China Sun Viki) paused at eps 9-10 of 12 - I have been told the ending is OK if not great. I’m gonna hold off for a bit.

Translation notes for Miseinen: Mijukuna Oretachi wa Bukiyo ni Shinkochu / Our Youth ep 6

As always, I screamed with @nieves-de-sugui and consulted @my-rose-tinted-glasses.

After I graduate, I'm gonna start working right away and live independently/live with my own efforts. Note: Interestingly, the term, jiryoku (live independently/live with my own efforts) in Buddhism means self salvation. While the show isn't specfically Buddhist, I do think it's still interesting that this meaning exists for this term because Haruki is in fact planning on saving himself through leaving his father and making money to support himself.

Haruki: I just get entangled in situations easily. Haruki's mum: Your father was also prone to fighting. You take after him after all. Note: In this scene, Haruki's mother uses "your father" specifically, rather than just drop the "your", which she did when referring to her ex-husband in ep 5. "You take after him after all" is her remarking quite factly in a 'ah, so you two are similar, huh' type of way.

Haruki: Because… I am my old man's son. H: And I will become like my old man sooner or later. H: I might even end up hitting you. Jin: You won't become the same as your father. J: It will be fine/don't worry. H: Will you stand watch for me/look out for me?

Haruki: My mum has (made) a new family, there's only my old man and me left. That's why I think I was scared. If I were abandoned by my old man, I would truly be alone, was what I thought. But now I… want to become a decent person.

Note: In this scene, Haruki mentions mihatte (to stand watch/look out for) and misute (to be abandoned). Both words include the kanji, 見 and the use of them is very deliberate to suggest that they are exactly opposite in meaning to Haruki.

When I go home, I'll also write a letter to you.

Haruki: I've got something I wanna do now. I've gonna live for the thing I wanna do. Kyohei: Are you looking down on me? But aren't you inferior (below me, level wise) to me? K: Those wounds you have sometimes. Aren't those done by your old man? K: Mummy didn't help you either? K: That's way too pitiful. Note: Kyohei also uses mikudasu (to look down on), which also contains the same kanji, 見 as mentioned above.

Jin: Weren't you gonna become a decent person? What are you doing? Haruki: Right? Minase, don't go back. J: 'Your sea and mine have merged/mixed together and are being rocked by the same wave is what I had believed firmly.' J: '(But) it was so easy for you to become far away from me/it was so easy for distance to come in between you and me.' Note: The scene is particularly interesting because both of them have different approaches to being decent people. While Haruki wanted to further himself from the friends he'd made, he realised that he couldn't be a bystander in that situation, which is his decency, especially having been a victim of his father's abuse. However, Jin sees being decent as Haruki no longer involving himself with anything that happens with those friends, which is why he sees Haruki's choice as him choosing to go against what he had said about trying to become a decent person.

Chopper got up and started kicking Brook with his little foot hoof, glaring at his friend rather angrily with a red face, totally humiliated by his behavior in front of his friend.

"Dammit! Die already! You always do this! Why do you always have to ask that!? No one ever wants to show that to you and yet you always make us look bad!" Chopper was actually crying as he felt Kagura's opinion of him lower, though Brook only laughed heartily as he was beaten by Chopper and Otae.

"Yohohoho! So harsh!" Strangely, despite being a skeleton, he was left with a large bump on his head from the beating.

Chopper bowed his head to Otae several times, clearly apologizing on behalf of his friend's behavior. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! We'll leave!" Chopper sobbed between glaring down at Brook and bowing to Otae. His chest felt pained from the shame of openly associating with Brook, especially as the skeleton was still laughing.

"I'm so happy to see that our doctor is making friends! Yohohoho~!" What a unique laughter this man bellowed. "Please call me Brook, Young Lady." As he was hit by Otae, he turned to face her with a gasp.

"Oh my! What a shock! My heart would burst out of my chest if I had one! Yohohoho!~!" After he laughed off the assault, there was a somewhat uncomfortable silence for ten whole seconds before the skeleton finally asked a question of Otae. "May I see your panties?"

Chopper turned his head away worriedly, not wanting to be associated with Brook's gentlemanly perverted antics.

The color left Chopper's face immediately at the sight of an innocent child's suffering. He shook his head a few times, wanting to snap out of this before tears could form. "Luffy! Take her to my sick bay on the ship! I should have what we need there!" He had never been more grateful for Nami's condition before in his life. This was a rare illness thought to be from an extinct creature, but Doctorine left him with the treatment for it when the crew left Drum in order to help Nami recover. There was plenty for this child.

"Let's go!" Chopper instantly transformed and galloped toward the ship to get everything ready.

気づいた時には 艦の中にいた Kidzuita tokiniha kan no naka ni ita "When I woke up, I was inside the ship. [Not sure if that should be "ship" or "cage". We know he's in a cage at the freak show, but he might be initially talking about getting caught and shipped somewhere.]

その理由も 外の世界も 荷も知らない Sono riyū mo soto no sekai mo ni mo shiranai "I don't know the reason, the outside world, or the burden." [I don't quite understand this one, so I figure the translation just isn't very good.]

Three Ships: I COULDN’T AGREE MORE ABOUT NAKAMASHIP????? In the most familial sense!!! There’s this one piece song (oretachi wa family) WHICH HAS THE WHOLE CREW VOICE ACTOR’S SINGING ABOUT BEING NOT FRIENDS, NOT SIBLINGS, BUT FAMILY!!!!! (Which is great cause im not the biggest fans of shoving the strawhats into traditional nuclear family roles like moms or what not anyways) AND IT’S THE NAKAMASHIP I LOVE IN MY LIFE :DDD My top ship from the last fandoms i was in is serirei and geraskier, i am extremely fond of both of them and i hope they continue being funky and gay!
