Seven white men were arrested for allegedly making Nazi salutes and yelling racial slurs at a black family celebrating #IndependenceDay at an #OregonBeach, police said Sunday. The seven, from Clark County, Washington, were part of a larger “highly intoxicated” group harassing the family on the Fourth of July in #LincolnCity, police said. Officers were first called to the beach in front of the Inn at Spanish Head Resort Hotel at around 9:30 p.m. for a report of people shooting off illegal fireworks and disturbing others. The group of about 10 surrounded the cops and “began taunting and challenging the officers for seizing illegal fireworks,” police said. Cops then learned that the bigots had also been harassing a family on the beach and officers formed a line in between them “allowing the black family to safely leave the beach and return to their room.” Meanwhile, the degenerates allegedly challenged the cops to a fight and some started setting off fireworks in front of the officers. Police arrested Ruslan Tkachenko, 22; Antoliy Kachankov, 28; Andrey Zaytsev, 28; Gennadiy Kachankov, 30; Yuriy Kachankov; 30; Oleg Saranchuk, 45 and a seventh man who refused to disclose his identity. They were charged with riot, interfering with police, disorderly conduct, harassment, possession of illegal fireworks, and offensive littering. Kachankov was additionally charged with resisting arrest. Six of the men were released by Sunday and issued citations due to local coronavirus restrictions on the county jail. A tale of three paintings: I came back from the beach last weekend with loads of great seascape images to paint. I started with a 5x7 oil painting (that’s the video and the first painting) with an underpainting of Permanent Rose and Indian Yellow. Then I moved on to an 8x10 in oil on black gesso that I wanted to leave really rough, but I think it’s too rough still (that’s the second painting, still unfinished). Then I got out my gouache and did a very quick, satisfying version on paper. (That’s the third one) There’s just something so bright and lovely and simple about gouache! Anyway, the first oil painting and the gouache version are both in my shop.
