current daydream title (to be renamed once i think more about this story): the land of the divine mother lore: under the cut
the land of the divine mother contains three countries, all meeting together at the central point of the land, named the inner ring. within the band of the inner ring lies the three city-sized temples of the divine mother - the temple of the heart, which contains a beating heart of blue holy water blood that is the size of a castle, the temple of the bone, which was built upon the mountainous carcass of the divine mother, and the temple of the spirit, which digs deep into the earth, in a spiraling claw, to reach for the center of the world.
procreative birth (livingbirth, also humans are not the only sentient species of this world hence it's not humanbirth also "living" refers to the people of the lands the same way humans refers to the people of our world) is only as common as instantaneous birth from the divine mother, as many living don't feel the need to procreate when livings are born from the heart, carcass, and dropped from the sun within the temples. however, because family lines often die out, having a strong family lineage is often considered a great privilege as it gives a living a background story.
the country of the heart to the west is yfenteron, a land blessed with many clear waters, seas, rivers, rolling hills and endless steep heights for flowing waterfalls. the inhabitants of yfenteron are mixed births, equal parts newbirth (in this case born from the water-deep heart of the divine mother) and livingbirth, and having a strong family line - or being the true namesake of your family line - is a strongly held traditional value.
the country of the bone in the east is miseppes, a land blessed with rich soils and high mountains, with endless minerals and materials buried deep in the ground and countless flora growing from the earth. you never need to look hard for food in miseppes - anything you harvest will be safe to eat, and many wild crops run amok. nobody is born from miseppes, as miseppes belongs to the plants. anyone born in miseppes is born from livingbirth, and thus retains the nationality of their last ancestors from one of the other two countries. no one is born from miseppes. miseppes belongs to the plants, as per the will of the divine mother.
the country of the spirit in the north is trynta, a country that dips below sea level, protected from the waters by many walls of interlocked trees and hardened sap. most living born of trynta are born from the sap and thus newbirth, and it's rare to find someone with a last name here. as the country of trynta is the country of the spirit, reaching for the core of the planet, many of its cities are deep underground and protected by the canopy of leaves and the grounding roots.
the divine mother is not a god - she is simply the divine mother. there have been many, many gods in this world, and they have all lived their lives and passed at their proper age. there have been many gods, and there have been many gods who took up their titles, equally as many as there have been gods that forged their own titles as times have changed. gods do not live any longer than two destined life spans - if the god, while a living, was destined to live for 90 years, they would die after living 90 years of godhood, regardless of what age they became a god at. the oldest living god of all time was namiya, becoming a god (title being namiya, the one of wonder and mirth) at 72, and living as a god for 95 years, thus aging to 167.
god are born from the stories told from the living in the land of the divine mother. a living who's name is known by every living is no longer a living, they are a god, and they will receive recognition from the divine mother. upon being looked at and seen by the divine mother, they will cease to exist in the mortal plane, and become an ambient concept, existing everywhere and anywhere all at once, enacting their power wherever and whenever they see right to do so.
the current gods are orea nhemsis the prophetess, seymour the regal, and tiffan etexis the beloved friend of all. seymour is the eldest, having lived livingly 59 years and living 20 years as a god. tiffan etexis is the second eldest, having lived livingly 37 years and living 11 years as a god. orea nhemsis is the youngest, having lived livingly 41 years and living 4 years as a god. (note: the ages they lived livingly do not determine their age amongst gods - it just happened to line up this way. the ages they live as gods are what matter.)
orea nhemsis was terribly ill when she was recognized by the divine mother. this recognition from the divine mother did not cure her of her illness, and her status as a god will not protect her forever. as a four year old god, she is destined to die in one year's time.
niliea is a newly appointed saintess of the temple of the heart, born from the water-deep heart, and having never ventured outside the city of the heart. her duties consist of cleaning the streets (a duty she took up of her own accord) and taking care of the candles (the duty appointed to her), cleaning up wax and replacing candles or lighting those that have gone out. she has six sisters among the candle cleaning saintesses across the entire city.
niliea is diligent in her duty to the divine mother.
orea nhemsis the prophetess comes to niliea in a dream, and goes against the will of the divine mother - she imbues herself into niliea, partially reincarnating within her body, a body free of illness, against niliea's will. niliea does not want to become a god.
zeto sinem is a wishy-washy, indecisive and tentative simple man, who's only real dream in life is to take up his uncle's metalworking forge in the city made out of resin - or the city called rootsap, as the inhabitants fondly named it - in the country of trynta. he's dispassionate, and has never felt strongly one way or the other. all he knows is metal, and that's really all he cares to know. he doesn't like to think that hard about things.
kiiae senosum, however, with the blessing of seymour the regal - an act of favoritism that the divine mother has forever forbidden - is a courageous beast of a woman, traveling fondly with bandits and knights alike, moving from country to country, battling with incredible magic prowess in monster-ridden ruins and saving lives in any tragedy she comes across. she is full of passion for life, and has her eyes set on the highest goal of all: creating the most brilliant story ever told, and becoming a god remembered for all time to come, no matter what it takes.
niliea does not want to become a god.
zeto does not care for stories.
kiiae will become a god, and she does not care who she drags into her divine story.
