they had a bamboo shark too but she was swimming too fast to get a good picture of her :(
there were two kinds of rays though! the one hanging out up top had white spots and the others chilling near the bottom didn’t, plus they were shaped a little differently. i’m not a ray expert but i looked at some pictures and i think the one with spots might have been a spotted eagle stingray? the spots and the shape seemed to line up to me but idk for sure. if anyone here knows more about stingrays than me let me know if i’m wrong. i tried to find a list of what they had there but I couldn’t find anything :(

ANGLEFISH, TELESKEYE & ASTROLAZE (Water/Psychic) The stargazing pokemon
This family of fish pokemon have gained psychic powers after spending their whole lives gazing at the stars, basking in their cosmic energy, opening their minds to the powers of the universe. They know the movement of the stars up to hundres of years into the future and navigate around the seas following the star charts imprinted in their mind.
ANGLEFISH (Angelfish/Angle) is based on the juvenile of the Orbicular Batfish (Platax orbicularis) and a Sextant, a navigational instrument used for determining the angle between the horizon and a celestial body such as the Sun, the Moon, or a star, used in celestial navigation to determine latitude and longitude
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TELESKEYE (Telescope/Eye/Sky) is based on the Tripod Fish (Bathypterois grallator) and a Nautical Telescope with its tripod
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ASTROLAZE (Astrolabe/Gaze) is based on the Stargazers, a family of fish (Uranoscopidae) with eyes on top of their heads and an Astrolabe, an ancient astronomical instrument that was a handheld model of the universe used to help determine the ship's latitude from the height of the Pole Star or of the sun
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In ASTROLAZE's back there are 3 markings, these markings actually represent 3 different constellations, this are Pisces (The Fishes), Sextans (The Sextant) and Telescopium (The Telescope), making them references the line inspiration in stars and to its previous forms

One of my friends saw a Spadefish at the store recently and sent these pics. I'm not great with Platax spp. adults but I think this guy is an Orbicular Batfish. They are supposed to be super smart animals!

This orbicular batfish, aka round batfish, kept me company during a safety stop. After taking several photos, I took this short video before he finally swam away.

We love Batfish. They are so curious but did you know Orbicular batfish have an important role to play in their environment as they eat a lot of seaweed, stopping the weeds from taking over the reefs where they live. They also eat turtle poo and can often be seen following sea turtles, waiting for them to go to the toilet! 🐠#fishyfacts #batfish #fish #amazingplanet

We spotted this Orbicular batfish while diving Komodo National Park with @dragondivekomodo a few days ago. Juvenile Orbicular batfish live in sheltered areas like mangroves and estuaries until reaching maturity. Once in the open sea males can grow to up to 20-inches long. #travel #funfacts #travelblogger #travelguide #travelphotography #wanderlust #travelgram #travelpics #travelholic #traveladdict #traveltheworld #traveladdict #travelling #destinations #adventureseeker #doyoutravel #travelmore #goexplore #wonderfulplaces #scuba #scubadiving #diving #underwaterphotography #nudibranch #macrophotography #marinebiology #indonesia #komodo #dragondivekomodo #adventuretravel (at Komodo National Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwssLsGg5w6/?igshid=1ijhonbfsdqgy
