On any other occasion early evening was your favourite time of the day.

It was then that you would feel the last rays of sun hit your back, prompting you to swivel in your chair and take in the sight of Manhattan in golden hour. Watching the sky above dance through its hues of gold and pink and orange never failed to calm you at the end of a busy day, and, oftentimes, watching the beauty of the iconic New York skyline would have you pause and think that maybe everything wasn’t so bad.

Most evenings, you could lose yourself in appreciating the beauty of where you were and the life you got to live.

But not today. Today was different.

Today, the day lingers heavily on your shoulders long after it’s over, each problem you couldn’t solve and person you couldn’t please hanging around you like a pissed off poltergeist. Days like this make you feel like running away. It would be easy, really - you’d beg Tony to let you use his private jet and follow the Gulf Stream far away from your office and all the annoyances that come with the job. It would be so easy, and you’d be lying if you said you hadn’t been sorely tempted by the idea more times than you can count, but you know it’s nothing more than a daydream you’ll never follow through on.

Because leaving New York would mean leaving the one thing that makes it all bearable.

He’s sitting on the sofa when you finally walk through the doors of your apartments, looking effortlessly elegant even dressed in plaid pyjama bottoms and a cashmere sweater. He glances up quickly at the sound of your footsteps - you know he’s been listening out for them since the moment you clocked out - and the smile that breaks across his face is instantaneous.

“There she is,” he says softly in greeting, and there’s a quiet thud as he closes the book sitting in his lap. “I’ve been waiting for you.”

There’s no accusation in Loki’s voice, but you still inwardly cringe. You had needed a few minutes to compose yourself once your colleagues had filtered out, not wanting to alarm your fiance by arriving home teary and agitated, and now you’re home fifteen minutes later than usual, something you had hoped Loki wouldn’t notice.

But it’s Loki. He notices everything.

“Yeah. Sorry I’m so late.” You force the words out, hating how thin and strained your voice sounds even to your own ears.

You want nothing more than to curl up beside him on the sofa - your safe space and your best friend - but your feet carry you through to the kitchen instead. It’s as though your brain refuses to allow you to seek comfort, like your day hasn’t been bad enough to warrant the feel of Loki’s arms around you. You’re desperate to run to him, to curl up like a child beside him and let him hold you because nothing bad can ever happen to you when you’re in his arms.

Instead, you’re fumbling around the kitchen for a glass and a bottle of wine, vision blurry with tears that you won’t permit to fall.

You curse when the bottle hits the glass and almost topples it on the granite counter. You brush tears away with one hand while the other shakily pours the pink liquid into the glass until it’s three quarters full.

It’s then that you feel two gentle hands on your hips.

“Hey.” Loki’s voice is soft and soothing against the thunderstorm in your head, and you don’t fight as he cocoons you firmly in his embrace. “Bad day?”

You lean your head back on his shoulder while he nuzzles your hair, unable to do anything but nod as the tears freely begin to flow down your face. Loki’s grip on you tightens and you feel him firmly press a kiss to your temple.

“Come here, dove,” he murmurs and easily turns you around in his arms.

He holds you tightly against him and you finally let yourself drown in the comfort of him. You match your breathing to his and focus on the sound of his heartbeat thumping in your ear. This man, this beautiful, wonderful man, loves you - it’s one thing that he’s never made you doubt, and one thing that brings you a modicum of peace at the end of an unbearable day.

Loki kisses the crown of your head and slowly starts to rock you both side to side. “I am in awe of you, my darling. Day after day you deal with softheaded fools with nothing but patience and grace. If it were me I’d run them through where they stand.”

You sniffle against his chest, to which he gives you a gentle squeeze. “HR said I’m not allowed to stab anyone,” you answer, feeling a tiny bit lighter now you’re with Loki.

He clicks his tongue in disapproval, but you feel his smile against your forehead. “A senseless rule if you ask me.” He lapses into a comfortable silence once again, moving a hand to cradle the back of your head against his chest.

The problems of the day haven’t gone away - you know they’ll still be waiting for you once Monday comes back around - but they grow smaller with every minute you spend in Loki’s embrace.

“I love you, my extraordinary little mortal,” he whispers into your hair, and then gently untangles himself from you.

You whine quietly at the loss of his warmth, but he’s quick to rest a large hand reassuringly on your hip. His thumb strokes your side through the material of your top while he reaches for the wine glass still sitting atop the counter.

“Make a start on this while I run us a bath,” he says, placing the glass securely in your hands.

“That sounds perfect,” you reply thickly, brushing away the tears that are still falling down your cheeks.

Loki smiles that soft smile that’s only for you and cups your cheek in his hand. “Darling thing,” he murmurs softly and leans down to kiss you slowly. “Sit,” he then nods to the sofa, “and I’ll get you when it’s ready.”

There’s nothing but devotion in his voice and in his touch as he absently traces his fingers along your arm. Usually, you’d fight him if he tried to wait on you too much, arguing that it isn’t fair, but tonight you’ll gladly let him take care of you.

You curl up on the sofa in the spot that Loki has left warm and listen to the calming sound of running water from the bathroom. You listen as the man you love more than life itself prepares to adore and dote on you.

Everything would work out okay.

okay. im a perfume nerd and i just can’t get this out of my head and these are all my own little brainworms so 🤪

perfume scents that every man in the 141 loves.

price is a classy man. but i also think he isn’t a huge fan of anything strong — he likes how you smell naturally. anything light, airy, a little floral but not like grandma rose perfume floral. price is the type of guy i see having fresh laundry scented candles in his house and a “fresh and clean” air freshener for his car. this man is tired and approaching middle age and he just wants his shit to smell good. including you. i hc something along the lines of maison margiela replica’s lazy sunday morning edt, glossier’s you edp, dedcool’s fragrance 03 blonde edp. for something more recognizable, gingham and sweet pea from bath & body works.

i feel like he’d also like chanel no. 5 just because of the name. his mum wore it. it’s sentimental for him.

gaz loves when you smell like a cashmere sweater. warm, sweet, but soft and homey. he wants to come home and just sit there and sniff you because you smell like a warm hug after a long day (it makes sense in my head okay). he’s the type to come along to sephora and ulta and hold the bottle while you spray the testers and he’ll tell you if something smells good (everything smells good, he likes seeing you smile & he’s paying anyway). philosophy’s fresh cream edp, ariana grande’s cloud intense edp, byredo’s slow dance edp, and skylar’s fall cashmere edp are all scents i think he’d love. i also feel like ivory cashmere from bath & body works is a given.

johnny. johnny is a man of taste, okay? this man loves a unisex fragrance. (they all do. but like. johnny truly just loves a scent that is just a scent. no feminine or masculine packaging.) literally anything that smells good has his paws all over you. i feel like he’s a woody, earthy scents kind of guy. just smell like a forest and he’s head over heels. like le labo’s santal 33 edp, tom ford’s oud minerale edp, zodica perfumery’s eau de dallas edp, dossier’s ambery saffron and woody oakmoss edp. mahogany teakwood & into the stars from b&bw will also get this man’s heart rate wild.

notes: bergamot, oud, amber, musk, sandalwood, cedarwood, spices (cardamom, ginger), fir balsam

simon is a gourmand man. change my mind (you can’t). this man will get a whiff and have to stop himself from nibbling on you like a cat. or he doesn’t. you just smell too good, love. i don’t think he has a specific preference in terms of general scent, but anything that smells yummy has him drooling. sweet, warm, similar to gaz but more in the food direction than the cozy warm direction. i think le monde gourmand’s crème vanille edp, kayali’s yum pistachio gelato intense edp, billie eilish’s eilish 1.0 edp, sol de janiero’s brazilian crush cheirosa '71 fragrance mist. sweet whiskey and viva vanilla from b&bw are also delicious to layer with.

you fucked up, you know it. one minute, you are getting a mani-pedi on your illegal money, the next minute you are pressed against the wall by a prison officer. how the fuck are you going to survive out here ?

the cold metal clinks together when you are shoved from the behind. clink-clank, your handcuffs echo throughout the hallway. the flicker of the fluorescent lights hurt your eyes, even threatening to make you tear up. all was enough though, you had shed enough tears for a lifetime and if this is what fate had in line for you, you were ready to brace it.

“fuckin’ move it, bitch” the officer spits out. she was a dirty blonde and eyes a shade crazy but that wasn't the only thing dirty about her. she was cruel to you from the start. the minute you had stepped into the correctional facility, she was on your ass.

“i'm literally moving.” you mumble under your breath. the orange jumpsuit they had you wearing was so uncomfortable you could feel the polyester rubbing against your soft skin. used to a life of luxury, the very smell of that cheap material had you suppressing gags.

“what did you say?” and suddenly you are on the floor, face pressed against the dirty linoleum. you feel her hold your hair and pull you up. your neck aches with the strain and your eyes mist over. “listen here sweet thing, you are not going to do very well here if you think you can go off running that mouth. you understand ?” she leers at you, her teeth shining a dangerous glint.

“naoya, that's enough.” you hear her partner say. truth be told, you were even more terrified of her partner. ‘officer nanami’ you had heard someone say. she looked terrifying, beautiful yet somehow unnerving. she wore glasses that hid her disinterested eyes and her blonde hair was tied up into a neat bun. the air around her seemed to crackle.

“i think she needs to learn a lesson about how things work around here.” officer naoya counters. “daddy's girl thinks money matters here.” she pulls you back up, your knees buckling. she presses you against the wall the next minute, towering over you.

“i'm being really nice to you, you know that. i don't want to bruise your pretty face up too much. that being said, i won't be this lenient next time.” she lets you go and you can finally breathe again. officer nanami stares at you in silence. her eyes rake all over your body and you feel the slightest bit self-conscious.

“she's right you know? you won't last a day in here if you talk back.” she comes closer and fixes your hair, tucking your soft locks behind your year.

“you are here only for a year. so keep your head down and try not to get yourself into trouble. you are pretty too so the better you are at being quiet, the better the chance of you not ending up as someone's pet.”

“yes ma'am, i'm sorry.” you squeak out. your lips were bitten raw from all the stress and you weren't sure if you should risk upsetting anyone. you sniffle and suck up and let them lead you in.

the winding hallway stops at a metal barricade beyond which you could see the cells. the rusty metallic scent infiltrates through your nose. no longer could you enjoy the smell of vanilla cashmere scented candles, only dreary despair.

officer naoya pulls out her security pass and enters the code to open the gate. it slowly opens with a creaking echo that wakes the residents in the cells. that you know only because of the cheering and the hoots you could hear from the never ending hall. you look to your side confused, but naoya simply grins at you.

“aww, should be glad. they are throwing you a welcome party.”

the walk in was humiliating to say the least. you could feel the eyes of a hundred women fixed on you. you could hear the obscene thoughts they were having simply by the gaze in their eyes.

“woah! look at that pretty little thing.” you heard a gravelly voice talk in your direction. you stop and turn to look, none of your officers bothering to stop you.

“ah, curious little kitty aren't you?” said the woman. she was tall enough to hold the top rungs of the door, fists easily twice the size of the bars.

how the fuck was a cell that small holding her ?

she was equally as large too, muscles ripping through her orange jumpsuit, scars running up her veiny arms. her face was near perfection, a small scar running up her lip. her jet black hair cascaded down in an unruly manner. you couldn't help but hold eye contact with her bright green eyes.

“why don't you come closer, baby?” she calls out to you and you are almost tempted to. the quick strike against the metal with naoya’s baton brings you out of your trance.

“keep it in your pants, zenin.” naoya snickered. “you'll have all the time to be up close later.” she pushes you again forward.

“it's fushiguro now, jerk.” you hear the prisoner say but you have moved further along.

your eyes scan through all the cells and the fear in you grows. they looked scary, like they had committed crimes you would only read about in a book. what were you doing here? no one here seemed like they were caught doing fraudulent business, no! they were different.

“stop.” officer nanami tells you. “this is your cell.” you look into the darkly lit room and see a slender woman on the bottom bunk.

“shoko,” she calls out, “help her settle in alright?” the woman slowly gets up while naoya opened the lock. she was beautiful, to say the least. she had long brown hair that fell to the small of her back, a cute mole adorned right under her eye.

you walk in and officer nanami frees you from your handcuffs. you rub the sore area, skin already red and raw with friction. they leave with no regards in a locked cell with a stranger.

“hey,” she rasps out. her voice was thick with the effect of cigarettes. “what are you in for?” she gives you once over.

“fraud.” you mumble embarrassed. “what about you?”

“medical malpractice, made it a way bigger deal than it was.”

you nod slowly, eyes big slightly with fear.

“top bunk is yours.” she points, “i'll teach you way things work around here tomorrow, don't worry too much, you'll get along well with everyone here.”

“really?” you ask, relieved. “why of course,” she walks closer, hands squishing your cheeks together. “you are adoooorable, everyone would want a bite.”

your eyes widen in fear, but you stay put.

“get some sleep, you'll have a long day tomorrow.” she watches as you climb the bed. a sharp sting across your backside makes you whimper and turn back to look at shoko.

“you'll get along mighty well with everyone here.” she smiles with a little too much teeth.
