What do you think of the theory that season five was supposed to end with bh+va but they changed their minds just before writing ep eighteen?

jughead worked too hard to set up the sopranos joke starting six episodes before the swellegrino payoff with his gf's mob dad just to be stuck with the dumbest fandom alive :(

#sorry it's been a minute anon ty for the ask and for ur patience!!#but like is someone really out there saying that the writers Didn't specifically move jughead into archie's garage #so that when they staged j/t singing 'perfect for u' in there 1000 eps later it would be crystal clear that jughead is redefining 'perfect'#as a standard he can easily live up to if it's with someone who accepts him as he is instead of how the concept was a sword #hanging over him and betty that she let come between them bc she couldn't deal with her own shit no matter how he tried to help her?#like who is saying that? r they ok? do they need help escaping the pit of denial they spent all season digging? isn't it gross down there?#sorry ur favorite fictional couple isn't banging like u felt entitled to all year but is it really worth throwing out ur whole brain for?#anyway maybe this 'theory' (fantasy) has already expired and the collective has moved onto other genius ideas idk i can't keep up #but even if this and other 'theories' weren't in reality ego bandaids for those desperate to still Be Right #or those fools genuinely anticipating an endgame reinstatement date #it still wouldn't be valid bc like. are u worrying about the unpublished rough drafts of a novel while ur reading the final official text?#likely not and you'd get kicked out of book club if u brought a rant abt that to the table without a willingness to acknowledge canon.#i get that this writers room is quick to pivot - flexibility is their best strength.#it's deeply under-appreciated in this fandom that these writers meet unforeseen challenges + seamlessly adapt an engaging show around them #even if some of the engagement is outrage.#but also the long development period for s5 definitely payed off with the most stable and traceable season since s1.#there's evidence that what would've been end of s4 was adjusted but that was the How of the resolutions not the What #it's clear from the ship trajectories across s5 that whatever decisions were made about them were committed to v early on.#squeaky's connection to tabitha and jughead's narration abt her is at end of 5.04 and this becomes emotionally significant to j/t in 5.17 #jughead turning down pop's retirement $ in 5.05 is a direct prelude to tabitha's debt and pop's help in 5.19 #even if u shut ur eyes and ears for All their flirtation in between #u still would've had to peek in order to swerve around the neon flashing bill board this relationship has played out on for months #the only valid doubt was if something catastrophic would prevent them from making it official #but it was an actual plot point in 5.18 that they decided they wouldn't let that stop them #and then the inevitable catastrophe in the next ep brought them even closer #like wow amazing how sudden and unexpected and totally not specifically addressed by canon #anyway. what i think about that theory and the rest is that - as with any fandom of a certain size -#there's some enormous and manipulative egos among us who are scrambling to convince themselves and as many people as possible #that the bad evil writers tricked them. these are people whose shipping blogs are their attention supply and their source material is over #so they're panicking. cool fun solution: ignore block blacklist✌️
