memento mori. do not forget that you will surely die someday and as such, that is all the more reason to live now. that is the message contained in that phrase.

Krita is a REALLY GREAT painting program that has something for everyone; I supported their kickstarter and I'm really happy to see the progress they've made with the program recently! I highly recommend trying it out.
Krita the Digital Painting App now on Steam! Visit Krita on Steam
Krita’s mascot, Kiki the Cyber Squirrel is here to spread the word! I designed her and made the pictures above. You shall meet her again in Krita 2.8’s startup splash! Like her? Get the wallpaper version here, supports popular resolutions on PC, smartphones and pads. My Krita Tutorial.
What is Krita?
Krita is the only digital painting tool I’m using. It is a free (as in freedom) and open source software. It offers a sophisticated brush system, packs in almost everything that a digital painter needs and is very easy to use.
Krita supports Windows and GNU/Linux. Now the develop team is trying to get Greenlight on Steam, please help them (and thus helps everyone)! Visit Krita on Steam.
Krita’s steam page has a detailed feature list. Here I would like to talk about a few things that I really like about Krita as an artist:
Brush System:
Krita’s brush system is fast and smooth. It is optimized for graphics tablets with pressure support.
Ruler tool assistance when drawing long curves (something comparable to SAI).
It doesn’t draw jigsaws when zoomed out (my nightmare when using Adobe Photoshop).
Command:
Krita has a highly customizable user interface. The interactive design is very intuitive to use. Here is a glimpse:
Basic brush tool operations:
Shift + drag = Change brush size
Ctrl = temporary color picker
Middle button + hover movement = Move canvas
Ctrl + Middle button + hover movement up / down = Zoom canvas
Shift + Middle button + hover movement around = Rotate canvas
Right click and you get:
Color wheel
Recently used colors
Favorite tool presents
Layer:
Supports layer with many mixing method
Supports layer group
Supports layer mask
Resize:
High quality resize with Lanczos3 filter. It doesn’t produce inferior shrinking result that Adobe Photoshop does sometimes.
GPU Acceleration:
GPU accelerated, fast high quality canvas zooming & rotation
Realtime mirrored view mode
Color management support
Free as in Freedom:
Krita is free (libre) and open source software. Its source codes are publicly available. You can study, modify, and distribute Krita without restriction. You can learn more about Free Software Movement.

I have been struggling with putting my art up on my blog recently... I am drawing but I'm not posting! I am scared of putting it up in a void where no one notices, for some reason that feels a million times worse to me than not posting at all.
This made me feel a little better, to think of my blog as sort of my own haven or territory. I can post what I want and shouldn't worry about other people. I should post it for myself. To see how my art has grown.
Now to stop procrastinating...
Your blog is your little space on the interwebs where you can showcase the things you like, and meet people who also like those things. Your blog belongs to you, not your followers. That also goes for writing, art, music, and everything else. If you lose followers, that’s their problem, not yours. You can’t please everyone and shouldn’t have to.

Hey, folks. I’ll be publishing a new comics anthology next spring. Perhaps you’d like to pitch a story for it?
New World is a black-and-white sci-fi/fantasy comic anthology with the theme of exploration, colonization, conquest, assimilation, “going native,” appropriation, imperialism, strained relations… essentially, what happens when mutually un-contacted cultures, continents, and species collide.
The deadline for submissions is November 20th. Head on over to the official page to see how to submit, and I can’t wait to see what you’ve got.
