I just heard the survivor trilogy was apparently a prequel to all of the Tomb Raider games. I have so many questions. Like in the Tomb Raider 2013 why did she have an iPhone if it was supposed to be her in the '90s?! LoL

It's another made-up statement to convince the fans they are continuing the saga and paying tribute to the original classics, which is an utter lie if you pay a minimum of attention to her original biography, her motivations and evolution during the classic games, from TR1 to TRAOD.

At this point it's ridiculous to even argue with the fandom about this. If anyone is taking this shit seriously is because they approve the two reboots and they want it to be all the same, to unify all the timelines. But the truth is that they are impossible to unify and it doesn't make sense, for the original Lara, the LAUra and the Laraboot are three different characters with different lives, personalities and motivations that barely fit each other.

From this point, it's a personal choice whatever crap a Tomb Raider fan wishes to take. I for certain, don't want this. The last Tomb Raider worthy of this name was TRAOD and Lara was seen for the last time when she was engulfed by darkness searching for Kurtis Trent, in 2003, as far as I'm concerned.

I relate to your tomb raider reboot posts because i have a game where i have similar feelings to it’s reboot

I love bioshock 1 and adore bioshock 2 but infinite is a joke in terms of writing and it’s not even a funny one

The story has more holes than a block of cheese

And to say nothing of how much burial at sea retcons the other two games

Like as I tried to explain to those people who were arguing with me on Reddit. I like the Tomb Raider reboots as games. They're fun, skip the cutscenes and just go full Rambo and gun down hoards of enemies. I'm replaying the second game right now and I'm once again enjoying myself, these games and fun games. They are not good story heavy games.

The issue is the writing is just bad, the plots want me to feel sorry for Lara when she's crying in pain one minute and single handedly taking on a battalion of men the next. The character is unlikeable and I don't really think she develops as much as some people claim she does, I mean it's plain to see she can't be developing that much since it looks like the Netflix anime is just rehashing the plot of Shadow of the Tomb Raider for her "character conflict" like 3 full game and an anime of the same thing is hardly good development.

Reboots rarely work with established franchises. Sometimes they do, but you will always risk alienating established fans and you won't always succeed in bringing in enough new ones to replace them. Tomb Raider is in a unique position that they are now claiming it's not a reboot but a prequel and that ALL versions of Lara are going to be canon in a unified timeline.... good luck with that since these games contradict things from the older games all over the place so trying to fit them into the same continuity is a logistical nightmare. Also considering the developers of the Reboot Trilogy have talked at length about their distaste for OG Lara and they are the ones who own the IP, I hardly expect to see too much variation from the Reboot Lara persona going forward. Maybe they'll give her an outfit change but they have no real desire to switch up the formula they've had for the last 3 games by the looks of things.

But hey we have the Remastered Trilogy which means I can play the first 3 games on modern consoles and that alone makes me happy.... TR4, Chronicles and Angel of Darkness when please?

And yes I kinda like Angel of Darkness, it has its issues absolutely, the games an unfinished mess but the chafacter of Lara is still foundational there and the side characters, despite being on screen a fraction of the time most of the side characters are in the Reboot Trilogy, are significantly more memorable and likeable. You talk to a Janice the French Prostitute ONCE if you talk to her at all, and yet she's left much more of an impression on me than any of Lara's friends from the Reboots except Jonah since he's in more than one game thus I remember his name unlike the rest.

6. What’s one fact about the universe of Mine that you didn’t get a chance to mention in the fic itself?

I think something that is hinted at but is not explicitly mentioned is the fact that reader is the reason Yoongi can work from home on extended lead and is pulling strings etc. Originally I had a short scene where she goes to his work and threatens his boss, but for timing I cut it out hehe.

19. If you wrote a spin-off of Mine, what would it involve?

I honestly don't know how I would do a spin-off, other than maybe a succubus tries it's thing with Taehyung but he has experience from Yoongi and he's like fuck no bitch and defeats the demon. It would probably be kind of a crack fic hahah

20. If you wrote a prequel to Mine, what would it involve?

Hmmm I implied in the story that Old Ass Han had a son who was enchanted by a similar creature, so there would be potential to use Namjoon, Hoseok or Jin and make them the original son.

37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?

Don't Read Dead Languages is pretty cool. It's a Namjoon fic that's a mix of like Moon Knight, The Mummy and Tomb Raider. And I'm writing a sequel sometime this year because I owe it to @jimilter heheeh

LIAFF SPECIAL #14: Upfronts 2024 - Amazon e Disney

Eccoci con la seconda parte del LIAFF Special di questo mese, incentrato sugli Upfronts. Quest'oggi parleremo di due colossi, ovvero Amazon e Disney, che hanno tenuto le loro rispettive presentazioni nella giornata del 14 Maggio.

Amazon: un debutto non indifferente

Per il suo primo Upfront in assoluto, tenutosi al Pier 36, Amazon ha messo in campo tutte le risorse a propria disposizione per dimostrare quanto sono espansi nel mondo dell'intrattenimento e non solo. Naturalmente non sono mancati annunci importanti fra cinema e TV, alcuni già noti, altri un po' meno, ma comunque ben accolti. Riscopriamoli assieme:

Come preannunciato nei giorni scorsi, Amazon ha mostrato un primo sguardo alla seconda stagione di The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, che debutterà sulla piattaforma il 29 Agosto. In poco più di un minuto, sono state condensate immagini potentissime, che fanno presagire una stagione ricca e movimentata, il che renderà molto felici i telespettatori.

Amazon ha ufficialmente ordinato a serie Tomb Raider, adattamento televisivo della celebre saga videoludica prodotto da Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Il progetto fu già annunciato nel 2023, ma ora ha finalmente preso il via, nella speranza che possa dare linfa nuova a una IP che sullo schermo non ha avuto un trattamento tanto dignitoso.

Altra serie annunciata da Amazon è Spider-Man Noir, personaggio Marvel già apparso in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse e noto ancor prima dai fumetti del 2009. A dargli il volto sarà Nicolas Cage, già doppiatore del personaggio in Into the Spider-Verse e la storia sarà molto simile a quella fumettistica, che vede un investigatore privato anziano lottare contro il crimine nella New York degli anni '30.

Naturalmente Amazon ha puntato anche sui titoli più visti della piattaforma e premiandoli a dovere. Infatti The Boys avrà una quinta stagione, con la quarta che arriverà fra meno di un mese, Cross, ufficialmente presentato durante l'evento, avrà una seconda stagione, con la prima prevista per fine anno, Mr. and Mrs. Smith tornerà con una seconda stagione, che non avrà Donald Glover e Maya Erskine come protagonisti, Reacher tornerà con la terza stagione l'anno prossimo e The Summer I Turned Pretty tornerà nell'estate 2025 con ben 11 episodi. Sempre sul piano televisivo, Amazon ha ordinato altre due serie, una ancora senza titolo, con protagoniste Hannah Waddingham e Octavia Spencer, di genere action-comedy e Elle, prequel di Legally Blonde.

Per quanto riguarda i film, Amazon ha diversi titoli in programma, fra cui The Pickup, con protagonista Eddie Murphy, You're Cordially Invited, una rom-com con Reese Witherspoon e Will Ferrell e Heads of State con protagonisti John Cena e Priyanka Chopra-Jonas. Ma soprattutto è stato confermato un sequel di Road House, che è il film più visto della piattaforma, dove Jake Gyllenhaal tornerà nei panni di Dalton.

Disney: la sicurezza delle IP

La giornata del 14 Maggio prosegue con l'Upfront Disney, tenutosi al North Javits Center di New York. Disney ha deciso di puntare sulle sue IP e su alcuni nuovi progetti che hanno già suscitato la curiosità di molti spettatori. Andiamo a riscoprire insieme tutte le novità:

Emma Stone è salita sul palco dell'evento per parlare di Kinds of Kindness, nuovo film che la vedrà nuovamente diretta da Yorgos Lanthimos, ma anche di Cruella 2, sequel del film di Craig Gillespie, la cui uscita è prevista per il 2025.

Selena Gomez ha parlato del ritorno dei maghi di Waverly nella serie sequel Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, prevista su Disney+ per fine anno, per poi venire raggiunta dai suoi fedeli compagni Steve Martin e Martin Short. Il trio ha presentato la quarta stagione di Only Murders in the Building mostrando un frizzante trailer, con i nuovi episodi in arrivo dal 27 Agosto.

In casa Marvel sono stati mostrati i prossimi titoli televisivi, che saranno etichettati con la dicitura Marvel Television, per distinguerli dai film e dai prodotti d'animazione. Il 18 Settembre esordirà Agatha: All Along, serie incentrata su Agatha Harkness, mentre nel 2025 vedremo il debutto di Daredevil: Born Again, che arriverà nel mese di Marzo e sarà composta da 9 episodi, e di Ironheart, che riporterà sugli schermi Riri Williams dopo la sua apparizione di Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Sul fronte ABC, è stata presentata la serie High Potential, che vede Kaitlin Olson nel ruolo di una madre single con tre figli e una mente eccezionale che le permette di risolvere casi complicati, talento che la porterà a far coppia con un esperto detective.

L'altra serie ordinata da ABC, ovvero Doctor Odyssey, è stata presentata con un brevissmo teaser. La serie vede Joshua Jackson nel ruolo di un medico, che si ritrova a salvare vite a bordo di una nave da crociera.

Durante l'evento sono state presentate alcune serie di Hulu/FX, fra cui Natalia, con protagonista Ellen Pompeo, Paradise, serie di Dan Fogelman che vede James Marsden e Sterling K.Brown nei rispettivi ruoli del presidente degli Stati Uniti e della sua guardia del corpo, Dying for Sex con Michelle Williams e la seconda stagione di The Bear.

Tomb Raider Gets Censored Again

Tomb Raider remake gets stealth-censored in a patch.

Apparently even though Crystal Dynamics didn’t make, they are publishing them.  They also added a generic current-year warning about how the content is naughty.

Same thing happened to FFVII remake.

Edit:  Crystal Dynamics keeps telling us that Lara Croft will become Lara Croft at the end of their prequels.  They’ve not proclaimed that instead of TOMB RAIDING, she will be a “protector of artifacts”.

But of an update besides scrolling Tumblr once/twice a week randomly since Christmas week.

I’m good, mostly. Hanging in there and just got over a cold that got scary at one point due to getting the shakes and dehydration.

So what else have I been writing besides TimeSplitters debut fic and my first ever reader insert staring Sadie Adler? Quite a bit.

Firstly, I wrote ANOTHER reader insert and this one is more up my darkfic alley where I insert reader into tying up and humiliating Lara (yes as usual Survivor Lara Croft) as part of a college fraternity prank.

Then I wrote chapter 5 of my GTA 4: Ballad of Gay Tony AU staring Tony Prince and my bitchy teenage OC Marina Sanchez. Mostly an action themed chapter for once but with yet more snarky dialogue from Marina and Luis+more!

Next up and for Christmas was my much awaited Darkfic oneshot for Call of Duty as part of a Darkfic Christmas Campfire event. We’ll say Mara got junked in a trunk…😏

Lastly for 2023 was a return to my Tomb Raider 2013 prequel fic combined with the world of GTA 4. Roth travels to Azerbaijan to begin his search for the Petersburg Pearl while Lara continues to suffer in captivity. So would Raine's game like Tomb Raider or Terri's? 3. Would Kratos have something akin to Mario or a Side scroller/too down shooter? 4. Interesting choices for Regal, Genis and Presea, but it makes sense. 5. Maybe for Marta, it can be a 3D Adventure game like Sonic or a Dungeon Crawler Game to make it unique.

Sheena is not just a ninja, but also a summoner highly attuned to the spiritual world. So if she got a spin-off, she would feel under-utilized as a character if the supernatural elements of her arc were absent. Unless it was a prequel kind of deal about Sheena's life before going to Sylvarant and forging her first summon spirit pacts.

2. Rather than a Tomb Raider type, I would see Raine as the MC of those old school point and click adventure games in which you have to explore the environment, find items, and use them to solve environmental puzzles. The focus is on the puzzle solving, not combat or platforming.

3. A Kratos space game could be graphically simple or complex, depending on the type.
